doesn't sound off to me
I ask for opinions on here all the time and am happy to share my experiences with different companies to anyone who asks including the current one.  It is hard to find good help and good companies that respect it.
Usually all QA comes from within, so that doesn't sound
right to start with.   Unless they hired a new recruiter very recently they don't have a man - maybe it is from the TransHealth side?
That doesn't sound too bad to me . . .
I pay $684 a month for myself and 2 children.  I just finally got my DH accepted as well and don't know the new premium yet . . . but I'm scared to death to see what it will be!  I'm sure we'll end up being over $1000 a month.  Health insurance stinks.
doesn't sound like an American sm
company to me. The ad is worded to differently.

Doesn't sound good
I did not know they outsourced to India. No wonder they are paying the Transcriptionist so darn cheap. People in India can live off making very low pay. I better look elsewhere. Thanks for your advice.
Doesn't sound crazy
Since you have been at the hospital in your area, try and pick up one or two doctors that have a small clinic or stand alone practices for your own account.  Then build from there.  That would help supplement what you make from the national.  There are still IM's, surgeons, derms and psychologists/psychiatrists that use tapes and need someone.   Tell them about your hospital experience and that will help.  I do 300 to 500 lines per hour since I have been doing my docs for so long.   Good luck.  Patti
Thanks!...Doesn't sound so good! lol n/m

Wow, it doesn't sound so great . . . LOL
I appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions, but I am very curious about the down time pay. I don't really want to work for them, I want down time pay. Unfortunately, due to a bad arm I had to give up about two-thirds of the work I had a year or so ago, and I have revamped my setup to reduce my pain so that I could keep working. Don't get me wrong, I do not mind working and would do any work that is available during the time I was required to be on, but mostly I wanted to know how much the pay is when you're not working but required to be on and, something I did not ask before, how they figure the time worked versus the time waiting for work. I assume the system keeps track of how long the transcribing takes you and when you are not working??? I know you said that it varies and you don't think they are hiring just so that they can pay down time, but I am still curious.

Thanks again!
Can I ask when that was? It doesn't sound like them and I have been there 2 years. sm
I know that they lost a few to VR in radiology but have replaced the accounts. One hospital did not even tell them until the day they moved to Powerscribe, which was horrible of the account, but KS took care of all of us. Might be worth revisiting them if you are looking.
Hmm..that doesn't sound good. Thx for sharing. NM

No, doesn't sound legal. Someone erred...
...on their part, and they should fix it. You might want to check with your State and see what statutes you can dig up to shake their tree if they don't realize their mistake and fix this. Very odd. Best of luck!
Doesn't sound like a brown nose to me...
but rather a very grateful employee. This board is very discouraging to me. A lot of whiners who are not good medical transcriptionists and then turn it around to make the company they worked for look bad. Actually, it can be quite entertaining when I am bored.
Doesn't sound like the Transtech I work for...NM
nm
Doesn't sound too promising .. thanks for the info. nm
z
Thank you - that doesn't sound good. Continuing to look ......nm
xx
I agree. Definitely called them. That doesn't sound right to me either.

Phew...! Doesn't sound good! sm msg

It sounds as if the owner loses her cool!  Not good!  Thanks!

You're using her computer? Doesn't sound
If you truly are an IC - I would send her an invoice.  She will need your soc. sec. # or tax ID for reporting purposes - that's pretty standard.
Doesn't sound too bad to me with 7 months experience. I have 26 years' exp and get 11.5. nm
nm
Doesn't sound very American for starters. I think you know where this is headed. nm
s
I'm so sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound good. I hope you
nm
That doesn't sound very encouraging, does it.? Will have to wait and see I guess :(

Cbay doesn't sound good. Glad I left
the Q when I did.  I really hashed over that decision, but I am so glad I did.  There will be a lot of people looking for work very soon.  I wouldn't wait around until all the good spots are filled.
IC is the one who offers a rate and the company accepts

Which company offers the best basic pay for Proofers.
what is best matched in industry
what company offers the best health benefits?

What company offers the best health benefits?

As far as:

waiting period before they start (I'm looking for 90 days or less),

how much they cost for yourself and dependents (I have myself +1 - spouse - can pay maybe $300/month out of paycheck at most),

PEC lookback period (preexisting condition - example - look back 3 months is better than 1 year),

pharmacy cost (I need a flat rate copay, not a percentage, with no yearly cap, and brand names and generics)

Anyone who has been happy or unhappy with their insurance through their work-at-home MT company, please share your experience and opinions. Thanks

My company offers webinars that count
No extra cost to maintain CEs.

It is definitely worth it to achieve this goal. I have been an MT for 38 years and finally got my CMT this past December. I got a $.50/hour raise. But it isn't about the money for me. It is about setting a goal for myself and achieving it. I felt so proud when I saw that Congratulations, you passed.... You can't put a price tag on personal achievement.
Is there a company who offers benefits to parttime employees?
Just curious
Our company offers a wide variety schedule
There are even folks that work both weekend days by choice. I don't see what the big deal is really. If an offered schedule doesn't suit you and the company is not willing to compromise, look somewhere else. There are a lot of options out there.

The S-Th/T-Sa scheduling must work just fine for the employers offering it or they wouldn't do it. Simple as that.
Seeking company that offers good benefits including insurance.
Ideally, I'd like to find a company that offers medical insurance at a reasonable cost for family (under $500 a month) and a decent line count rate. Anyone have any ideas on this. Thanks.
Can anyone provide a name of a good smaller company to work for that offers decent benefits..
I want to get away from the "nationals". I know there are smaller transcription companies out there looking for a good MT.. Hopefully someone will have some good advice for me.
They do sound like a good company (sm)
and as long as they have people who volunteer to work holidays, they won't have to make rules about it.

you don't sound tough enough to be a company. sm
ohhh, you did it for ME? nice try, but that's a 'line' if I ever heard one.

Get a backbone and call that bluff. These guys are BIG business and business saavy - they know the supply of services far out weighs the demand, and they are smart enough to play that game. You need to be smart enough and strong enough to NOT ante up and fold like that.
Worst company out there. Horrible sound
quality, horrible ESLs, system not user friendly, loopy QA.   I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
I gotta ya.. It really did sound like one certain company whom I will not name here as it will touch
off the debate and that gets old. Thanks for explaining.
Wow .. I never heard of the company but they sound like a bunch of nutcases. sm
Sorry you experienced that.  Hope you get your money.  Scary how many cheats there are out there.
Well that doesn't say much about the company
You've been there 4 months and have 5 accounts already?????  That tells people that they run out of work consistently otherwise you would be working on 1 account and have a backup, maybe 2.  I've been there years and didn't even get my secondary account for almost 6 months because the work was so heavy on my primary account.  Things have changed.  The turnaround is so great they have to continually overhire.  The only thing I have to say is think about why you were hired at 10 cpl.  You're training the VR that is going to be cutting that 10 cpl to 5.5 cpl. If you're happy earning 5.5 cpl doing FULL editing that's great.  Maybe you weren't there when the CEO was saying that the people who do really well on editing are not high producers in typing and vice versa.  Those who have a hard time doubling their lines in editing are the ones producing 350-400 lines an hour in typing. There's no way they can make 700 lines per hour doing FULL editing.  So if you're doing great in editing, you're not that great in typing...you're average.  If you're a high producer in typing, let's see how happy you'll be when making 5.5 cpl for producing the same amount of work.
This company doesn't try either
They have not responded to their employees directly ... instead they put their comments anonymously on this board.
Best pay, doesn't always mean the best company. sm
You could make $0.18 cpl doing ESLs all day long and run out of work. That being said, how much would you make really if you can't do ESLs or there is no work available.

Everyone is looking for something different in a company. My suggestion is to write down what it is you are looking for, line rate, steady work flow, schedule, pay periods, etc and seek it out.

Good luck to you.
A company that doesn't ...sm
test? CMT, 16 years experience including transcriptionist, QA, supervisor/trainer. Tired of all the companies that use mttest before they will even talk to you which takes up my time - only to find they don't pay very well! Are there any companies that wave the testing if you have the experience and great references?
Just because one company does it doesn't
mean they all do.  I worked for KS and I know that the work fluctuated and there were days without work.  It still reflects very poorly on you to say such a thing.  I don't know whether it is true or not, but without knowing every detail from both sides you aren't qualified to suggest that something she has done has caused her a lack of work.
another company doesn't pay

CC Transcription, out of Florida.  First, when it is time to pay, she says O sorry, it will be 4 weeks before first check.  (I quit right then but another girl did not) So, okay it 4 weeks and time to pay and she says, So sorry, my computer crashed and all the information to do direct deposits is in there, I will have to mail you a check.  Well okay, so mail the darned thing.  WOW!  It came a week later and guess WHAT?????   IT BOUNCED LIKE A A BASKETBALL OFF THE 95TH FLOOR!  But, here's the best one.....now her appendix ruptured and she has been in the hospital!  I must be nuts because I and positive she was not in the hospital when she wrote those checks.  Is there some new thing about checks not being good for 2 weeks to wait and see if your going to get sick first?  Is that a bank insurance thing I can take out?  hhhmmm

She advertises here on mtstars and also on mtjobs, so BEWARE of this lady, it is also Joyce Transcription!  She didn't get me NEAR as bad as the other gal, and we are the only to who communicate, so how many more are out there????

If you say anything good about this company, the trolls want to knock you down,but..Sound is fine
nm
Would think whatever is FT production for that company. PT doesn't
s
That doesn't mean I have to work for a company
who chooses to send things out of country. I feel no need to suck it up and take it.
MBS a company that doesn't care about their MTs
This company doesn't care about their MTs and the owner or the president is very proud to post her picture in her company's website. Check the link and beware of this very deceptive company. I don't want to waste my time running after them, just want to caution all the MTs out there who are trying to earn a living, they might commit a mistake dealing with this company.
If a company doesn't pay, is there anything one can do to collect?
Trouble again
This company's name doesn't start with a "K", but......
sorry you had the same experience with another company. It stinks when you are told you have failed a test but aren't given any further details.
It doesn't matter. IF the company wants
people on site to train, that is their right to insist. There is a MTSO that has been mentioend on here, don't remember the name, that requires new employees to come to them for training.
I'm looking for a company that doesn't require a schedule......
I know - does that even exist anymore? I currently work when I want, just comitting to certain number of lines in a pay period. Are there any companies that allow us to do that anymore? I'm thinking it's time for a change.
Isn't Cymed a company that also doesn't pay for spaces? nm
