While we pound our brains out until our backs ache and our wrists crack and pop

In Reply to: Yeah, but those ol' boys make - - MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!

The trend toward more and more hospitals hiring for work-at-home MTs is helping and if they'd all go that route it would solve the problem.

For stiff wrists, etc

Just found a great place for ergonomic devices. It is called Ergo-items.com. My right wrist gets a workout with having horses and helping get firewood ready for winter and it feels sprained most of the time (not carpal tunnel but on the ulnar side). It got so that I had pain all the time while transcribing, so I made myself an arm support that I placed on the arms of my chair to rest both arms on.  This took the wrong angle off of my right wrist but it was like being in a highchair (lol). I looked at chairs with the arms that swivel in to make an arm rest but the price was just too much, especially with not being able to try the chair first and having to foot the shipping cost to send it back.  I just discovered this website yesterday and they have a lot of good ergonomic products at reasonable prices. I ordered an arm rest that simply clamps onto your desk or work station and you can adjust it many ways.  They also have foot pedal rests, mouse supports, and keyboards.  Just wanted to let everyone know, as in this profession, our wrists, fingers, elbows, etc all take a beating.

Pound sand
Tee HEe
Are you kidding? If it were me I'd tell them to pound salt.

We all have brains
and can think for ourselves.  I speak the truth, and I am very happy with OSi.  I admitted they aren't perfect, but no company is.  We have all read the archives and know what has been said.  Obviously those unhappy with OSi left because they were unable to perform proficiently.  Cool down a little.  We are all entitled to our opinions, which is all I am giving.
if someone actually PICKED this name.. then they need to hire someone with brains... nm

Nonsense! It's not a pay cut. Engage brains! SM
For goodness sakes. How hard is it to understand: You produce more lines in the same time because you're cruising through the documents faster, so you're paid less per line. This meeting showed their average-worker example actually came out a bit better.

If you don't want to lose out, stop complaining about everyone else and determining to see yourselves as victims. It's dumb. As dumb as that there are people who are doing badly on the new platform because they're refusing to learn the new keystroke shortcuts. If that isn't self-defeating, what is? And of course, if they're not doing that, they're also not building all the additional shortcuts so many of us use to speed our work up and turn it into $$$$.

For myself, I learned eScription as quickly as possible, learned Enterprise as quickly as possible, developed my Expanders as quickly as possible, and will be learning this new platform as quickly as possible.

I'm interested in hearing how the averages work for high producers. I'm not in the top bonus category, but it seems to me there's not the same advantage to them in increased production from the bonus system unless an additional tier to achieve is established. They're already there.
cut backs
If they are cutting back, it is most likely because I understand they outsource to India.
Transtech has our backs

Everything's okay at Transtech.  I just talked with my supervisor.  There's plenty of work for everyone.  We'll just shift accounts, that's all.  I for one like to learn something new; it breaks the monotony.  I'm even going to try my hand at eScription on my new account!  Transtech won't let us down.  They truly have our backs.

That they make off the backs of the MT.
Nobody said it wasn't their money to do what they want with, but it shows how much they value their employees and what the priorities are. They might as well say, Hey, we don't think you deserve a raise, cut in your insurance premiums, or a bonus, but we're going on vacation on the money you made us...oh, and by the way, work extra while we're gone.
Then we best be watching our backs
and socialism has really been around longer than we think because I was let go from a job in the year in approximately 1962 because of an abortion. That is right. Worked at a children's hospital that was affliated with a bigger hospital, went to the bigger hospital and was fired from the other. So I guess socialism is nothing new, right?
I think they are making a much larger profit on the backs of MTs...
Think about it. Do you think it is costing the clients any less for their transcription. How would they even know it was VR? If the MTSO charges the same, they are making more money (half of what they used to pay the MT).
Fortunately, I haven't had any problems getting call-backs...sm
I have been in contact with 3 companies within the last 6 weeks. I do have 18+ years experience, but just needed to find the right fit. There are good jobs to be gotten so don't give up.

Good luck!
Crack me up

Just because you post a response to a question about a company does not mean you are automatically a "cheerleader" for that company.  Sure there are some out there, but some of us actually have nice things to say about our companies.  Is that wrong?  Also, if someone defends their company, it doesn't mean they are management or "gossip control" and not everyone that posts a positive remark about company is reporting directly the the CEO of that company.

Some MTs are fortunate and lucky enough to like their jobs with their companies.  I applaud them, as most of us know that is hard to find these days.

You crack me up, too.

OMG you crack me up constantly

Thanks for the laugh!

People like you crack me up
MS size=2>

We DO pay double or triple the taxes you pay! Are you that clueless?

And people like you think that because my husband sacrificed much of his young adult life to get a GOOD education, get a GOOD job and keep it for the past 20 years, working his way up the corporate ladder to the job he has *earned*... you think we should be penalized for this and pay your share of taxes too, right?

This is America, land of opportunity.  If you chose to waste your opportunity and settle for a mediocre life of barely scraping by, that was your choice. I know because I made the same choice myself.  I didn't want to go to college, and now I'm paying for it with my mediocre job of being an MT. I am fortunate to have a husband who worked very hard to provide for us and we enjoy a comfortable income.  We have the right to complain about taxes because we pay a TON more than you do.  But people like you have to say snotty things because you are miserable with your own life.

Shelly, you crack me up. You stated before you

cannot make enough money working for a service so you work full time at a local facility and part time for Transcend.  If these programs were so wonderful, you should be able to make wonderful money on them so you would not need 2 jobs.

RE: Shelly, you crack me up. You stated before you
I prefer to work outside of the home. For me, interaction with real people is more important, that is why I work two jobs, and my part-time job is just that, part-time.
I don't care for crack (especially butt) either. nm
nm
I didn't care 4 that crack, missy!

These smileys crack me up! They are soooo funny! nm
nm
These people making combined income of over $100,0000 crack me up! sm
They act like it is petty cash. Then again, maybe it is to them, but I sure would like a chance to have that kind of money.
