Why do supervisors who insist they are not paid to transcribe cherry pick accounts to death?

They could really show some leadership ability if they took the bad dictators and left a few easy reports for those of us who would appreciate an easy report once in a while.

How do people cherry pick on accounts? You mean like supervisors assigning jobs?
I did not know you could do that, but is that what you mean? I need to know because I will not work for that.
go work for them and you will see - managers, supervisors all from India and IM you to death! nm

WILL BE ABLE TO CHERRY-PICK - sm

to your heart's content, if that's your choice and you are fortunate enough to get the kind of Lead job where you have control of work flow & distribution, as they do in my company.  As bad as the Q may have been in some important areas, I always got my lines.  Work was allowed to self-distribute naturally ...THE NEXT FREE MT GOT THE NEXT AVAILABLE JOB.  We had 1 supervisor, not 2 dozen people we had to answer to, as today's top-heavys.

But as long as the same person who assigns/distributes the work (Leads) also types on the accounts & has FIRST CHOICE of jobs -- well, where does leave the rest of us??  With 101% $---t, that's what!  That and being salaried, too!  I'd be a Lead for HALF of the little they're paying us now and I bet I'd get more done if the playing field between Leads and peon MTs were evened out a little.

If your question is can you cherry pick
Your queue is preset for your work types and they come in according to TAT. You can't pick and choose what you want to type. That is established beforehand.
So do they cherry pick at Transtech?
nm
How the heck would you cherry pick at Amphion
huh?
As far as I know, the only way you could cherry pick is to sign off after you have brought the job u
Seems like I remember in training being told, If you bring the job up you are expected to type it. and that these things were monitored.

I feel like some days I just have the luck of the damned and other days are great. I don't feel they are cherry picked like I used to get at MQ.

If you really feel this is happening, contact your immediate supervisor and ask.

By the way, welcome aboard.

I'M PAID TO TRANSCRIBE..sm
Anything else is our gift to the MTSOs and their stockholders.  Sure, they try to BS us and tell us its part of the job.  It's part of the job only because they make it part of our job...gratis.  Our only responsibility, as far as demographics are concerned, is checking that it is the right patient, a number will usually suffice.  The visit number, which causes so much confusion and an unfair burden to the MT, should be the responsibility of the hospital or facility clerical department, but of course, it's easier to pass it on to us.
Anything you transcribe in a header/footer is paid.
x
So if you transcribe 100 lines, you dont get paid for
x
I dont cherry pick, never did. I dont do that to my coworkers on my account.

They paid to have UPS come pick up
the equipment, but they ignored numerous emails from me and I then got a threatening letter about suing me for not returning their equipment. There was a delay in the final pay. No exit interview. I was civilized, however, A was not.
so pick up your own accounts, get 5 sm
people and see how well you do. The headache of listening to whining, complaining MTs is not worth it! Granted there are MTSOs making tons of money and yes some are scr****g their employees/ICs. But, if you think running a business and putting up with all of it is a piece of cake, you are sadly mistaken!
I hate to say it, but ESLs are here to stay and being able to transcribe accounts...sm
that are heavy ESL is a necessary skill.  Especially in acute care.
You can't pick what accounts you get, only whether you are ER or acute. I do 2000+ on ER, Merit p
woowoo
Why do adults (I presume) insist on using such
x
if you had to pick one; medscribe or CyMed .. who and why would you pick em? considering both
xxxx
Not uncommon. The venture capitalists insist on
profit even if it means bad behavior, and senior management goes along with whatever is dictated, whether it's what the client wants or not (ssssshhh!). If it means they get a year end bonus or a cushy pad to play
in, more's the better. Reminds me of offshoring that clients never knew abut, either.

MTSOs, in my experience in management, will do anything as long as it means that the bar tab has no ceiling and they can keep up with the Jones family next door.

Sorry to sound so bitter and jaded, but I'm tired seeing what management will do to entertain themselves at the expense of the MT and the patient.
Insist on sample of prior reports, lots of them. Then when you see it, sm
you will say, Oh, so that is what he is saying.  Then, put it in your expander.  Phrases work the best for me, not normals.  Phrases in the Expander for what each item these guys use.  But you need to see lots of samples of prior reports.
Well only if you get your own accounts or are paid gross line.
There is no way a transcription company will pay you that much. I have one of my own accounts too and make 12 cents per gross line, and I make around $50 per hour on average.
Why do MTs who are paid by the hour cherrypick the normals off accounts.

Line counts shouldn't be that important to them.

Apparently, they have contracted with India to work some accounts as they are getting paid less on
these accounts. Obviously, labor is cheaper in India. So, they have to send the work where they can afford to. I know I'm done with them. Pretty soon, there will be no jobs left because these hospitals apparently want cheap labor. You get what you pay for is all I am saying.
Death and they still want u to work
Maybe it is the same with any job, but I remember when my mother died, the MTSO called me and said you sound back to normal. I really needed more time off but I don't get paid time off.
At another big national, I was deathly sick with bronchitis and they were still cracking the whip. I was lying down every half hour or so, but still got my lines done. I remember telling the supervisor how sick I was and she didn't say a word, not a word.
They email you to death, and
I found out they Want you to IM, but will not Force you to.
How about Death Valley?
That'd be symbolic and maybe big enough to hold everybody who'd lose their jobs! Anybody know a good photographer who'd work for free?
Death of Spryance

He is right!

The Spryance has started losing its so-called No. 1 position since 2003 when incompetent people were recruited and promoted as QA's and they had begun to outsource their work to home-based crackpots who had a few days of MT-like training!

YOU KNOW WHAT? I am sick to death of your s/m
comments after every little post or question that anyone DARES to put on this board!

Yes, please go ahead and repsond in the most childish way possible (and I know you will, as that is all you know how to do, apparently). Obviously, after your continuous verbal abuse to almost every poster on here who dared to disagree with you (yesterday), you get your jollies off of belittling anyone you can get a hold of.

Now, if anyone else on here who is over the age of 12 would like to respond to this post in a helpful manner, please feel free. If you don't know the answer to my question, then just don't reply. Not that difficult, is it?

You, SIR, are immature and should move on from this board because you have nothing constructive to say whatsoever.

In all honesty, I feel sad for anyone (like you) who lives their life as you do on a daily basis. You must feel good about yourself each night when you lay your head on your pillow, after a day of insulting and berating. What an accomplishment. Get a life.

If you choose to respond in your usual scathing manner, please do. It will only solidify the opinion that many of us here likely hold about you. Here's your chance to really show all of us worthless and incapable human beings how tough you really are. The stage is yours.

For the record, I currently earn over 10 cents per line as an employee. Not a wimp, not weak, not ignorant. Sorry to burst your bubble.
If you want to be nit-picked to death
Then by all means, hire on with Keystrokes. I had just started with them but after I saw my review, I told them I did not want to work for them. They nit-pick every comma, etc., to death and there was no way I was going to put up with that. These services get so carried away by all the insignificant crap that they just drive away anyone who is a good MT but doesn't want to put up with the nit-picking. Good luck.
You are so full of sh**. Sick to death of you and
You have to be getting bummed out trying to do damage control on here knowing that OSi is doomed!
I betcha they'd be tickled to death to get you.
Experience counts for a lot these days.
Are there any companies who do not micromanage you to death?
I am a good MT, produce high line counts, am reliable, yet the company I work for insists on micrmanaging us all to death.  I just want to produce excellent work and be left alone to do so.  Is that too much to ask these days?
glad I'm not working myself to death..

money is not worth the time or stress. My income is supplemental to the home and for fun and/or savings, not necessary for bills, etc. And please don't bother bashing me or say I'm snooty and married money, not really the truth but fortunate enough to let my DH be the income earner, not me.

I'm just sick to death of people

downing TT all the time on this board, that's who I am. I stated facts in my post. Just because someone (or we as stated) went to Vegas, this poster was furious. Well, it stated in the email it was a BUSINESS trip, and like I said, is management supposed to sit on their duff and hope work comes their way, or should they actively pursue it? I don't call it talking down to the poster.

The "Kiss of Death?" [snort!]

They nitpick the commas to death but it depends on who you get
to QA you.  Other than that, they are a good company
They got the dreaded "blue screen of death.

Then somebody in India types our death note

Yeah, my wardrobe would probably get me stoned to death, lol!
Subservience and modesty are two qualities at which I do not excel :-)
Starving to death without health insurance and looking for another job! nm

Transcend - kill us with kindness while we starve to death.
Suddenly getting chatty e-mails and calls from my supervisor who never had the time of day for me before.  Of course the work has disappeared before I can get off the phone or get through the ridiculous e-mail updates about the weather, the kids, the in-laws, but nothing of substance and no helpful information is ever sent.  Guess they want us to say kind things about how nice they were after we are forced to quit and get different jobs.   This is one strange company.
Supervisors
I heard the supervisors on the voice recognition side quit?  So wouldn't you have had 2 different sets of supervisors by now?
MT Supervisors
Hello, could anyone tell me how you become aware of the supervisor positions? Do you just submit a resume to a particular company or simply wait for them to advertise the need for a supervisor at the company? Thank you very much for your help.
Two different OSi supervisors
One has been there a while and the other is new, one it is her own choice and the other it is not. I was right about the last one a couple months ago so mark my word. I'am not MT just someone who knows.
Supervisors usually better than that. Maybe they are in

Why do supervisors ask for more?

I work 37 hours a week which is full time.  After the last upgrade I finally got my line count up to the minimum last pay period which is 10,200 lines a pay period.  This week I am on my way to 12,000 lines a pay period.

I was notified by my supervisor that my editing hours are only 20 hours a week and that if I do not bring this up I will be asked to consider moving to part time status!

Also, corrective actions will be sent out if we do not produce the minimum on a daily basis.  We have been out of work for a few hours every day for the past 3 weeks!

What?  I am doing more than the minimum lines in my scheduled time frame but they want me to do more.  I have to clock out for breaks but I have to work a schedule and make up the time I clock out.  So, basically they want 300 lines an hour to maintain a PTO rate of $380 a pay period.

This is some kind of weird and I do not see why, if my line count is up, QA percentage is down, that they want more.  They never did address the fact that we are low on work how is that going to factor into this problem.

P.S. I work for Spheris.

Supervisors
Do you have enough experience to find other work? If so, move on. The only way this will continue is if we let it. If benefits are an issue, I would work toward finding another job that pays bene's and move on. I'm not saying it's easy but it can be done.
why do supervisors ask for more
You have to work at the same place I do.  I got exactly the same message.  How can  you get hours if there isn't any work.  Too much OT and then nothing left for us who do have to work our hours.
Supervisors at MDI
I left MDI as soon as they announced the merger, but I had been there three years and was consistently treated with kindness and professionalism by everyone, the QA staff, my liaison, and the techs. I cannot recall one instance of ever being treated discoureously. On the contrary, the kindness and professionalism of the staff was one of the things that drew me to MDI.
OMG, if simple kindness was a job requirement, I swear some of you would starve to death!
Members here should be required to have one sign on name only. At least then people would have the opportunity to ignore the trolls. It boils my blood when a person comes here for help just to receive hateful replies. Spelling isn't the issue and if it was, you wouldn't be considerate enough to care. You just look for any opportunity to be pissy. Get a life.
Puhahaha! I'd probably end up starving to death or gathering enough vegetables being thrown to op
my own produce stand. Thanks for the chuckle. XDDDD
