Duh! You are just as anal as they are. No wonder you love working there.

FOR THE LAST TIME....IF YOU ARE A TRUE IC, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A SCHEDULE!!! Whether you emailed them or not is NOT the point. Sheesh!

If you have scheduled hours/a scheduled start and stop time, YOU ARE BEING TREATED LIKE AN EMPLOYEE. GET A CLUE!

August 28 but didn't get to actually start until September 6.  I was in a horrible financial situation anyways and that didn't help...but I hung on and I stayed in constant contact with them, telling them I really needed to start. I think they did their best to hurry them up at the hospital I was waiting on my security info from. But I'm glad I waited because they have been great to work for so far.  Good Luck!
P.S. Said all this is supposed to start in 2010..nm

I have the same situation. My start date was actually supposed to be 12/29 and I am still waiting.

I have been in contact with them, but it seems this will happen in their own good time.  It's strange cause I keep receiving global emails through my company email, and they are begging people to work extra to take care of a backlog.  Last night a manager called me on the phone to request that I work overtime, and I explained my situation to her.  She didn't seem too surprised, but I have to wonder if maybe someone isn't doing their job.  The general manager is aware now anyway.  Whether that makes any difference?  Email me if you want to compare notes.

How are you supposed to know when the work will be in to make up?
We are not privvy to how much work is in the system at any given time.  We only know what is in our queue.  This is just absurd on so many levels.

Transcend cares only about the big pay for its managers and corporate people, nothing for its MTs. Pay used to be decent, is less than mediocre for that horrible editing platform we are forced to use. ROMs have nothing to do but yell at the MTs and invent first grade games to play. I would rather have had the $1.48 postage and $1.00 it cost for the mouse pad and strip calendar.

Remember the old days when Edix used to give the Drake and Drake drug book for MT week? That was when Edix was a good company, too.

slowing down, like not many jobs around? Mine has been off since October and only started at the end of May this past year.


We always dreamed of taking our vacations in the middle of winter when he was off, too, but every year, the work is less and less for him.  Yet his broker has given what little work there is to his favorite guys and he was told some of them are working a day or two a week. It's frustrating. For his type of work (federal and state highways), he needs a broker and there is only one around here. Plus, he still hasn't been paid for work he did in October (2 whole days). We're afraid the broker is going under and, if that's the case, I guess DH will be forced to retire early.


Promised to call you to start work?
I'm sorry, but as a recruiter it's hard to believe that a company looks at your testing and assumes that you'll buy in to what they're selling before having a long discussion between the two of you. Something's fishy here.
Not out of work here...it was a slow start yesterday
but it picked up in the afternoon and evening.
I think majority of negative comments start when work is low and
they start looking for another job. I, for one, would rather be too busy and have to work an extra hour or 2 than not to have any work. Overhiring is the death of all of us, since we do not have a guaranteed income unless you are a team leader or hourly employee.

Failure to pay on time is another large problem that will produce negative comments.

If companies were actually above-board with the problems at their company before the hiring process is completed, a lot of this could be avoided.

Ironically, we work for 2 different companies that are in FL and start with an M. I wondered because
other than that one account, I get a great line count on my main one, but I still say I'd dump any job with a big line count discrepancy. Why frazzle yourself.

I have dial-up and make money. I download my work and I can start transcribing

as soon as the first report has downloaded.  Once I download I disconnect, do my work, then connect and send my completed work.   I usually start my download in the morning then go take my shower, feed all the animals, grab myself something to drink and I'm ready to go.   Once the work is downloaded what type of connection you have doesn't matter.  


Sure it is safe to post your resume on the net, provided it is a reputable site.  I would not just post it anywhere, but post it on the job boards here and other reputable sites.   Most sites have some type of safeguards in place so that you have to have registered with the site and/or paid a usage fee to view information like addresses and phone numbers, so that not just anyone can view the information. 


Another option may be an account that has C-phone or similar accounts, where you aren't downloading, but dialing directly into the system. 


 


We band together and start our own company offering our services to the hospitals we've been work

on already and take our accounts back from Transcend.  I haven't signed any noncompete contract with Transcend.  Would the MDI one be null and void? If my pay rate is null and void, so must my noncompete.  They can't have it both ways.


why is it not supposed to be done?
I'm in the same situation and just wondered why it shouldn't be done if this had been your primary source of work, thus your bread and butter for several years and was suddenly gone. In my case, it's neither the company's nor my fault, so I was seriously considering doing this, but if there's some legality involved here, I would really be interested in hearing about it. Thanks.

Yes verbatim to a point when common sense comes into play use it. QA does not need stuff like that sent to them.

I don't understand this. You are supposed SM
to be on full QA when you first start, just like all the other jobs I've had.  The limit you can type every day is like 5 reports or something like that and you're supposed to stop and wait for the feedback.  Were you just typing anyway and didn't care?  It never occurred to me to keep typing.  I did my reports, waited for my feedback (which came before the start of the next day's shift) and then did 5 more.  I was taken off full QA in 2 days and then the amount I could type was not limited.  Again, I just don't understand a post like this one.  I understood from the policy I read when I was hired and then when I trained I was reminded of the limit.

to save all of our logs and periodically send them to our team leader. I had so many binders when I left them after a very short time, I had one whole shelf full of them. Everything negative I have read about this company has been absolutely true from my experience. They sound good ....

You are supposed to clock in and out sm
In order to get any bonus money, which is paid according to Lines Per Hour (LPH), you NEED to clock in and out for everything. It makes for a very long day, turning 8 hours into sometimes 10 or even more. I don't clock out to look up words or to go to the bathroom but do clock out for anything longer than 15 minutes. I think PTO starts from day one.

Thank you! The average is supposed to
be 1500 per day, but each person, as well as account vary!  No one should mislead others into thinking they are going to get rich quick.  Anyone making above 1500 lines a day, I am happy for you.  That is very good.
Is this supposed to attract MTs??

Any MTSO who consistently relies on pay from clients to pay their MTs is in BIG trouble.  That company will have a high turnover and/or get sued and reported to the BBB.  Why is this commonsense business practice - having credit and/or backup funds to pay staff - so often ignored in this industry??    Because you all (MTs) stand for it and give the benefit of the doubt, i.e., MTSO will get new clients who are better paying.   


Supposed To Call
I had already tested and was offered a position via email. They were supposed to call me on Friday to discuss the account, but then emailed me and said that they were unable to make the call and would have to call me on Monday. It's now Thursday and I still haven't heard from them.

So, I've already accepted a position with another company.

Their loss...

be good about it, and kind. I am starting sometime next week, how about you? Are you starting with them also? FT is 1100 per day (5500 per pay, I think), and PT employee status is 500 per day, 2500 per pay, wich is what I will be doing. Just fed up with FT anywhere anymore.
