With Nuance buying Focus, what will happen to the eScription accounts? sm

I really don't think eScription is going to like the fact that Dictaphone/Nuance is going to be working on their platform and learning their secrets to their software.........do you?

This is so interesting to me as I am an eScription editor.  Maybe it is time I start my own business again and contact all of the eScription hospital accounts or contact eScription and get their input on this.

In reading Nuance's press release, Bringham Women's Hospital is an eScription account not a dictaphone account.   Very interesting......Don't you think?  Would love to hear opinions on this.

Nuance owns escription and Dictaphone
Are your referring to Dictaphone Extext? Which Nuance system?
Case in point Escription is VERY MUCH better than Nuance and others out there sm
If we all had Escription, none of us would mind doing VR.
Focus / Nuance
Here's the URL to a PDF press release from 3/15. Nuance not only owns Dictaphone, but is the company that created Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Focus (Nuance)

Does anyone have any info about this company?

I was sure I had read previously posts but I am unable to find.

Maybe I am just looking for the wrong word  combination or on the wrong board?

Any information appreciated!

Nuance/Dicta/Focus
Yes,they all fall under Nuance. I had not had any coffee when I answered the question. Still could use more.
Focus Infomatics/Nuance

It is no longer a mystery to me as to why or where our worktypes (especially ER) are slowly disappearing from accounts at Focus Infomatics/Nuance.  On their website, Nuance has stated that their goal is to totally automate transcription.  I wonder if that goal includes the eradication of MTs?

Anyway, here's a peek into the future with Focus Infomatics/Nuance:

There's more information on page 2 as well.

Focus Infomatics/Nuance

I would avoid this company completely.  After much emailing back and forth with Janeen Neale, who led me to believe there was an account for me, I was advised yesterday that there was a hiring freeze for my intended account.  No mention of this was ever made to me before.  Also, she advised me that Vista and Word 2007 would work just fine -- then in yesterday's email telling me about the hiring freeze, she also added that the account didn't work with Vista/Word 2007 -- only XP/Word 2003.  To add insult to injury, she even got my name wrong!!!, lol.  Avoid this company.

Just be aware that not all Escription accounts pay the same. I worked for one company on Escription
struggling to maybe make $50 in 8-10 hours. I didnt know the difference as that was my first job on that platform and I just thought it was not a money maker. Then, I switched companies. I average $20-30 an hour and once I made $50 in an hour. I tried yet another company and I was lucky to make $9 an hour. The bottom line is that not all companies are alike, even though they use the Escription platform. What I have found is that goes according to how they set it up i.e. paying for footers, headers, spaces etc. Just dont be shocked if you dont make what you think you will. The companies know how to set it to where it benefits them and not you. As is the norm, not all companies are created equal out there regardless if they all use the same platform. That is what I am getting out.. Good luck.
Sorry, meant Focus Infomatics/Nuance

"A subsidiary of Nuance" Why does Focus always post this? thx. nm

DOL CONTACTS TO REPORT FOCUS/NUANCE

Hello,

Whenever an employer requires you to work a certain schedule or attend a mandatory training, they are are absolutely required to pay you a minimum wage.  Period.

Long story short, I was in the same boat and contacted DOL a few months back.  With regards to Nuance/Focus, a company located near Boston, MA, here is the DOL office to contact regarding the issue of not getting paid properly:

US DEPT OF LABOR
WAGE AND HOUR DIVISION
JFK FEDERAL BUILDING
Room 525
Boston, MA  02203

Phone:  617-624-6715 or 617-624-6700

Persons to speak to:
Mr. Paul Sullivan (not sure of his title)

Mr. Robert Lang, ( I think his title is Assistant District Director).

Focus/Nuance - Dictaphone-offshore
Focus is the offshore subsidiary of now Nuance also known as Dictaphone - they have just formed an on-shore team thus all the new positions - temporary to be sure - they will take any account and then throw it offshore after a while
I heard Focus was bought out by Dictaphone (Nuance) less than a year ago. So I think it would be a s
move. Nuance's website looks sturdy, and I know dictaphone is doing well, so how can a company with that kind of backing give you any kind of worry? I'd take it. Good luck whatever you decide.
Hmm .. the TTers are not complaining anymore and Focus/Nuance are advertising again. nm

MOST of TransTech's accounts are obtained through Dictaphone/Nuance -- not by any TT mgmt people

out seeking work for all the MT's that they have recently hired on.  That is not a good thing when Dictaphone has control of how much work TT gets, when we can have some work from them, etc.  They have other MTSO's who want work for their MT's, too, so Dictaphone/Nuance has to share with all MTSO's who have contracted with them to use their equipment; thus, doling out jobs as Dictaphone/Nuance sees fit for their good.

Escription/Focus
I work for Focus part-time and they treat me just fine.  I appreciate them because I started as a newbie almost one year ago to this day and they showed me the ropes with excellent training and gave me a chance, which was very hard to come by with other companies.  I love VR and using Escription, but if you are a super productive typist you may not prefer VR at all.  In the beginning Focus would sometimes run out of work so I had to look for full-time employment.  Now I am trained on a clinic and an acute care account and I barely have time to keep up with all the work there is available for me!  I wish it had been that way when I first started, but I plan to stay with them and work when I can.  I have read all the negative posts about them, but I have only had a positive experience.
Focus QA who use Escription
On reports where you are only filling in blanks (not 100% QA) how are you paid? This is regarding on the escription platform only. TIA
Focus /escription

Focus and escription are not the same company.  Escription is a software/transcription platform.  Focus is a transcription company that gets accounts that are on the eScription platform.  Focus and eScription are two entirely different accounts.  I think that Focus is trying to say that they need MTs for accounts on the eScription platform.

Also, my experience with this company was not a good one at all.  Offshore people QA your work and their communication is greatly lacking.

Focus Infomatics uses Escription. nm

Focus Infomatics Escription LPH
I am wondering if there is anyone who works for Focus Infomatics and uses the escription platform? If so, can you tell me how many lines per hour you average? I have heard a lot of MTs who make 500 and 600 lph using the escription platform. But then I have also heard a lot of MTs complain that they do not make much money working for Focus Infomatics.
Focus/Escription...should I bother?
Escription is my favorite platform and I am looking to make a change. I am considering Focus. I read previously that Escription MTs were running out of work often. Is this still the case?
Focus/eScription information
See Not Enough MTs below.  Focus and eScription are the same company.
Do you happen to know if Vista works with the Meditech accounts? sm

I am thinking of buying a new computer, and I found out that Dell will downgrade your computer to XP with the option to upgrade to Vista in the future, but it was more expensive, and probably eventually we'll all have to cave and use Vista anyway.

I can ask B next week sometime, but I thought maybe one of your accounts might be with Meditech.

Thanks!

Anybody here on escription/editscript with Focus Infomatics?
Are you paid for all lines on this platform? Is it pretty easy to make good money?
Focus bought by Nuance/Dictaphone, DRC bought by Acusis. nm
s
You should check out the Nuance website and the Focus website
Nuance is Dictaphone and since a lot of use Dictaphone equipment, you can say we all have something to do with this. If you are surprised at the website above, look at the US website of nuance. Just IMHO and try to get both sides of the corporation.
escription accounts
Escription work is on Word. Transform has a SUPER word-based platform and as of yet does not do VR editing.
Honestly, I gained my first experience with Escription working for Focus. It was my first online job
So I stayed long enough to get comfortable and then moved on. It was a weird experience working with supervisors in India and the lack of communication but I never intended on staying. I bit the bullet, got my experience and left.
MDI-FL hiring for eScription accounts
Hello all,
We just acquired three Escription accounts and our MTs LOVE THEM. Please e-mail me at Liz@medicaldictation.com or call me at 1-800-205-7047.

It is a fun program to work on.

Hope you are keeping safe down in Texas. God bless. We are all thinking of you guys in the way of that horrible storm.

Thanks,
Liz McGrogan

Anybody hiring for eScription accounts? nm
x
I work on escription accounts.
pay 4/9 for 60-90 days, can't remember which, then 4/10. Very nice to work for. I've been there since Octoberish.
It's about average on eScription accounts.
I get 4/8.4 as an employee.
Has TT always had eScription accounts? Is this new? Just curious..nm
nm
I can only speak of the Escription accounts.
It's been low for a long time so if that is the account your on and you can be flexible, go for it. AND I do mean flexible.
I edit for Transcend on accounts using eScription. sm
I really like it, make more money than transcribing, and am in and out of more reports. And it's a lot easier on my wrists. I've always found the people nice to work with, in spite of the horror stories being related about the hiring process.

I have no experience with any editing programs other than eScription being used at Transcend/MDI, but you could request assignment to accounts using eScription. One thing, since new accounts (ones often needing new employees) typically are transitioning to VR, you could start out heavy on transcription of reports as the computer learns to take over that job, with a few weeks of lots of corrections to eScripted reports, and then finally doing almost all editing on a trained account. I think it's going to be that way on any account new to VR with any company. Transcend did adjust the pay rate as the account I was working on progressed so I never lost money and eventually ended up making more. Good luck wherever you end up.
Good luck. Are you on the Escription accounts?
I like it there.  I've had my moments there, but I haven't found anything better out there so I'm staying for the long haul.
Does anyone know what Transtech pays for its Escription accounts?
I'd be willing to work weekends if the price was right.  I've just seen too many Escription accounts pay too low, which to me, is 3 cpl and lower..One company actually offered 1.5 cpl. No thanks.
TransTech has 2 current Escription accounts

Yeah if I remember right, they are one of the low-paying Escription accounts out there, maybe 1.5-2
cpl or something ridiculous. Not actually livable US rates...
They send a majority of the Escription accounts to India. There are a few of the hospitals that said
they could not send their work there but I suspect they do anything. In any event, yes, a lot of the easier work goes to India and they are proud of this affliation, not bad it doesn't pay my bills. Then, they wonder why we are so angry about India taking our jobs.
Companies w/Escription accounts that offer affordable family insurance??
I realize that affordable is subjective so whatever information anyone can give woudl be appreciated. The majority of Escription accounts offer IC only. Thanks
Focus VR accounts
Any current Focus escriptioners care to comment on the ability to make any money there using this platform?

I am going to the poor house fast with SG using escription and need to make a move fast.
The Indians gobbled all those accounts up! Try Focus. nm
x
Focus, focus, focus on your work. It's amazing what you can do! nm
x
I'm buying it...nm

You buying?
x
But you have to keep buying
needles, and a bunch of other stuff, all of which stand a very good chance of having been made overseas.  You may be paying less for all this than for ready-made garments, but you probably still are purchasing foreign goods.  Just sayin'...
I'm not buying your story at all. Besides,
speech therapy, pain clinic, wound care are all not acute care. How many YEARS did you have in acute care and ONLY acute care? And how long ago? Also, how did you do on the test? You're not telling something.
SPi buying Medware
Heard this from a supervisor a while back that it was in the works for SPi to buy out Medware. Confirmed with another management person last week.
When they bought out CyMed, none of the editors or MTs heard a word until we had a conference call telling us that they had already bought out Cymed and changes would start taking effect almost immediately.
If you work for Medware and they do buy you out, be ready for some MAJOR changes to the way you do your work.
I actually thought the changes they made in our benefits from what CyMed had were improvements. CyMed never offered us ANYthing benefits-wise that was either company matched or just outright paid by the company, which SPi does...
They DO get rid of people who aren't 'doing their jobs' & a LOT of management were quickly gone.
Is SPi buying Medware?
I currently work for Medware and have heard about SPi buying them out.  After all I have read with SPi buying Cymed out and the way the company has treated people I am terrified now.  Can someone shed some light?
Likely that is the company buying you out. (sm)
Which company is offering you jobs?
