Work for SPi now, prior CyMed...

and EVERY company has issues, you just have to figure out what issues are deal-breakers for you personally. SPi HAS started switching QAs around to all different accounts, but not sure about the MTs; however, on the few times that these accounts have run short of work for the MTs on them, they've had them actually doing QA! That's ONE position, at least, that you can guarantee you'll move up to if you're competent and want the move.
Their benefits are better and less expensive than CyMeds were, and vacation time is actually a bit better.
There are no yearly or scheduled raises with SPi.
My advice is to ask LOTS of questions BEFORE accepting either job with either company; you should also get EVERYthing in writing, AGAIN, do this BEFORE you accept either position...especially as relate to compensation, benefits, and work hours. :D Best of luck whatever you choose!

Spheris isn't the only company getting prior MQ work....sm
our company has also picked up several million dollars worth of business that MQ used to have because of the clients either having been overbilled by MQ or fears that they would be with all of the legal problems MQ is having.  Other current MQ clients are getting bids for when their contracts expire so I expect the MQ "tumble" to continue.

Don't run out of work at CyMed
Which office do you work out of? I work for Cymed out of Ohio and have plenty of work. As far as my line count, I keep track of it on my own in Chartnet and my lines always match what they pay me. I wasn't aware that they sent any work to India.
cymed out of work

I'm just curious - The talk I see on the board is about them hiring you and then running out of work, so how can they be advertising in a recent ad on this website (1/23) saying, .......is the exclusive home to the Dictation Dollars SM program that guarantees you won't lose income due to lack of work.  What's up with that?  How can they tout MTs not losing income due to lack of work, yet on this site I see several apparently have left because of lack of work.  Sounds like they're talking out of both sides of their mouth, in my opinion.

Cymed-out of work?
Anybody out there working for Cymed who is running out of work on a consistent, daily basis?  What's up with that?  They continue to advertise and recruit, yet those of us who are full-time employees sit with barely enough to make it worth getting started each day.  I know many companies probably over-hire, but give us a break!  They threaten to cut benefits for those who don't make quota, yet don't provide us with enough work to pay for our portion of them!!  Dictation dollars my #!$!*.
Anyone work for Cymed?
I am looking for a company to transcribe for. My own account went EMR, and I need work. Is Cymed good? Do you know how much they pay? Any good companies for OP reports or pain management. Ortho too? Thanks.
Cymed has work
I work for the Ohio office and never run out of work. In fact, they asked if I knew any MTs that want to work because they are starting new accounts. So, it's hard to believe there is no work at CyMed.
No work at Cymed
Thanks so much.
I work for Cymed, and although I
will not get 10 or 11 cpl with them, and will be lucky to get 9 CPL.  I get a mix of dictators, some good, some bad.  I have found it to be a little better than some companies, they leave me alone to get my work done.  Sometimes the work is slow and you have to get a secondary account.  Good luck.
I work for Cymed
and like it. It is the first time I have worked for a national, was an IC before that and very used to doing my own thing. It was an adjustment to have to have a schedule, although they are somewhat flexible. Always pays on time, direct deposit, so I can't complain.
I used to work for CyMed.......
Glad I am not there now, with all this buying up the company, etc. I was there when they were giving the majority of the work to those overseas. Glad to be where I am now.
Anyone else work for Cymed?
I'm just wondering if anyone else out there works for Cymed. I have been with them for nearly 10 months now, and recently I have noticed a lot of changes/problems. It seems that every few paychecks, they fail to pay me for my second shift differential, shorting me about $60 each time, and then I have to wait 2 weeks until the next pay check to be compensated what they neglected to pay me on the last check. Also, the last 2 or 3 times that I have had to called tech support, NO ONE has ever called me back! It turned out that their server was down, but I had no way of knowing since no one had the decency to call me back even though I left 2 messages on the tech support voice mail and I was without work for over an hour. What happened to their answering service that they always had??? It used to be that whenever you called for help after hours or on weekends, you got an actual answering service who took your message and actually paged the person on call, and I would always get a call back within a half hour or less. Now, I just get someone's voice mail who I have never heard of, and who never returns the calls...at least not mine. Also, all of a sudden, my account manager sent us all an e-mail about 2 weeks ago saying that she was no longer going to be the manager and that she was going back to an editing position. I just think that all of this is too weird. My friend, who has been working for Cymed for about 3 months, has had 2 of his account managers quit! I am supposed to start training with Transtech this week, and maybe it's a good thing that I am. I really HATE to have to change companys because I am so comfortable with all of my dictators and love their platform, but things just seem to be going downhill. I'm just wondering if anyone who works for Cymed is having the same or similar problems.
I work for SPI/CyMed
I have worked for Cymed (now SPI) for a year now and I am quite happy. I make 9 cpl during the week and 9.5 cpl on weekends and holidays. The software is the best that I have ever used and I am left alone to do my job. I would recommend it.
I work for CyMed (now SPI)
I work for Cymed (now SPI) and I have not had a single problem since SPI took over CyMed last August. My manager is great, I have TONS of work (I have never run out). In fact, I think that there is even more work now since it has become SPI! Pay is always direct deposited on time, they are very flexible, there are great accounts, and I, personally, couldn't be happier.
medware and cymed...anyone work for both and if so...sm
I was wondering which company you prefered.  They are about the same benefit wise and such, but was wondering how they differ as far as management, work load, platform, etc.  Also, am just taking general comments on both companies - good or bad.  I have a offer from both and not sure which company to go to.  I have looked in the archives, but just not sure as there is good and bad for both.  Thanks.
SPI/Cymed~ Anyone work for them? Any opinions? Thanks! nm

Cymed offshores work and their pay isn't great.

I have 20 years' experience, can do the most difficult of ESL and they offered me 8 cpl and if I did 20,000 lines then 8.5 cpl.

Many posts in archives about TRS and how difficult it is to get lines and their formula takes a rocket scientist to figure out.  They are also looking into offshoring to Trinidad, also supported by Cymed.

Transolutions - lots of negatives in the archives, not sure I have ever seen anything positive.

Don't know about Silent Type, but read the archives.

I agree with MTer. I, too, work for CyMed.
Extremely MINIMAL micromanagement style.  If you stick to your schedule (with a little flexibility) and are accurate, I think you would find Cymed to be a good company for you.  It has been for me so far.  Good luck!
SPi versus CyMed...SPI is offshore and YES they bought CyMed...

CyMed is now part of SPi and will be merged into the company and will follow all company policies and procedures.    It's the only way the President, COO of SPi could grow the company and keep his job.    He has to grow through acquisition.  This means that at least 70% of all CyMed's business will be transitioned to India or Manila.     The US MTs working at Cymed should be very careful and start looking!!!!

Actually I have only done a few ops prior to OSi
I had mostly done MS clinic. I have worked in acute care before, but did everything but an occasional op. I have to say that ops are my favorite by far now. I was terrified to do them, but now I love them! You're right. It is easier to be negative than positive, but at the end of the day, every company has good and bad things. It may take searching, but there is a company out there for everyone I think. In work, as in life, you have to kiss a lot of toads to find a prince.
prior response
Sorry. That was addressed to OP and MsAnonnie Mouse.
you need to really look back to prior postings
This company has been flying all over this board even back in March. I think it goes further than disgruntled employees. Take a look at how their lead people handle these comments. They have badmouthed these employees horribly. Yes, companies will have unhappy employees and there will be some grumbling, but it clearly looks like a much bigger problem with Shapin. A lot of drama for low pay. I would have nothing to do with them and NOT for the grumbling of past employees, but for the obnoxious and crude way Shapin's management individuals conducted themselves!
Apparently you missed the prior post.
AcuQuist based it's pay cut on an attempt to bring us in line with an average industry wage, part of their new mediocrity- not just for cheap wine policy. Therefore, being better, faster and more accurate, is not a desirable quality, and therefore we are being penalized for it.
I had knowledge of VR and pay rates prior to this job search.
When I was in school, all we focused on was straight typing and nothing was ever taught about VR - I graduated earlier this year. In my job search I'm really not seeing much about VR. The place I am now has four or five accounts and all of them are straight typing. As for the shortage of work, I am on the largest account in the company and the shortage is felt across the board. Even the supervisors are aplogizing to us for the shortage.

Oh well, for the meantime I will just see what is out there, test and interview if asked to and go on from there. For right now though I have a job at a place I like - it's better than nothing!
Insist on sample of prior reports, lots of them. Then when you see it, sm
you will say, Oh, so that is what he is saying.  Then, put it in your expander.  Phrases work the best for me, not normals.  Phrases in the Expander for what each item these guys use.  But you need to see lots of samples of prior reports.
Prior info said they take $300 out of your pay $50 at a time for something, rent or deposit. nm

I left a couple of months for the same thing. The prior

3 months I was lucky to get in 800 lines a day.  I had a couple of days where I got maybe 4 reports.  I would sit in front of my computer for 12 hours/day, checking every 5 minutes, and still couldn't get my lines with 3 different accounts.

They hire away ahead of time for new accounts and after training they have to do something with them until the account goes live so they put them on other accounts temporarily and then there isn't enough work for the regulars.

When I first started running out of work I watched the backlog report to see where an account might have a big backlog and there were 3 or 4 who were on OT most of the time, but when I asked to be put on one of those accounts I was told no.  There were many days that it looked like half the accounts had a 0 backlog.  Then they started hiring for 3-day weeks and 4-day weeks so there was no work on weekends to try to make up your lines/hours.

I had posted that question right up under the original poster and prior to her post being answeredsm

Looks are deceiving and I AM paying attention.

The lazyMT was from a prior post about testing..NOT about my personal habits. I find it odd that you
would reply with someone so insignificant and to which no one cares about your opinion.  You don't know me and you certainly have no idea if I am lazy in regards to my lifestyle habits so go back where you came from, troll..
CyMed

Any current info on this company would be appreciated.  Specifically would like to know if they allow a flexible schedule, what their pay range is, what type of software they use, and how the staff is to work with.  Any info is much appreciated.

Cymed
I am surprised that you had a bad experience with Cymed.  Which office was you working out of?  I work for the Ohio office and the trainer is wonderful.   She is very helpful and actually everyone that I have dealt with so far has been great.
CyMed
TIA.
cymed
I talked to their Richmond office and was offered 8.5 cpl, but they do not pay for spaces. I have a friend who works for a different office and she gets paid for spaces, but they told me they had instituted a new policy and only the people who had worked for them before it went into effect still got paid for spaces.
cymed
I work for the Virginia office and you will never find a nicer group of people.
Managers are great and the tech. support is wonderful day or night.
CyMed
I was offered 9 cpl.  No they don't pay for spaces because they said they don't charge for them.  Everyone I talked to seemed incredibly nice except the trainer.  She was incredibly rude when she called me, so much so that I did not accept the job.  I told them about her too.  She seemed like a hateful older lady who really didn't have time for the likes of me.
Cymed
Cymed of Ohio does a lot of reports for the Cleveland Clinic. I also saw the article on the face transplant. I have worked for Cymed for 17 yrs.
Cymed
I work for Cymed.  I have been with them since July and totally love it there.  Great people.
Cymed
Do you mind sharing what office you are out of and do find it hard to get your linecount without being paid for spaces?
cymed
I work for the Ohio office.  I do not have a problem with getting a decent line count.  The platform is great and easy to use.
CyMed Pay
I know you would want to figure about 20% for the loss of spaces, but then the headers offset that a bit and the good platform. The 9 cents seems very low based on that if you are an experienced MT.
Cymed and pay?
Can anyone give me information on Cymed, pay?
Cymed
I was with MQ at one point too, but now with Cymed. This company is very MT friendly and I've always got work. They did not offer statutory employee, just PT or FT. FT gives me good insurance, vacation and holiday pay. What I like the most is my supervisor saying she wouldn't have her job if it wasn't for us MTs.
cymed
Does anyone else work for Cymed, and what is your experience
