the work is consistent and sporadic.  I just figured something like that could be a good IC job and still keep my FT.

You apply in your home state.
You may well be able to do it online .. check it out.
Do we apply for unemployment in OH or in our home state? sm
Do we apply online where the company is based or where we live? I've never been in this situation before.

Thanks.
Never heard of them and because I haven't, I did not apply.
I think they must be another new one. They come and they go, but in their case, they should have told something about themselves. They obviously do not have a website either.
How did you come to apply with them? I have never heard of them or seen them advertise.
Wish you the best though
Did you apply? I did and haven't heard

The only thing I can find is that the pay is low, but if it is easy clinic work and the people are nice, sometimes it's worth the low pay.

Like most I apply to, never heard a word SO RUDE
NM
I heard back the next day. I wouldn't really

bother with them.   I thought that maybe they represented companies that might not post to the job boards and who might offer better than most jobs - like a headhunter.  After their testing they put me in touch with a company that regularly posts on the job boards and who currently have an ad running.  I had recently turned down an offer with this same company.  There was no difference in pay in what I was offered going through TM than I did going directly through the company.  TM said they could sometimes negotiate a higher rate, but it didn't happen.

I think the company is only 2 people and I don't think it is a FT job for either one of them - at least that is the impression I got.  Since they have a current ad maybe they have been swamped with resumes.

After you test with TM you still have to test again and if you don't get more $ you're better off applying to companies yourself and at least you won't have to go through an additional round of testing and interviews.

I don't know how long this post will last as in the past any post that doesn't portray them in a positive fashion gets deleted.

What kind of changes? I am looking to apply there and have heard good things. I don't want
to go in blind, but all the postings are so vague. Can you give me an example so I can decide for myself?
I did apply, heard back, and took the first part of their test. nm
nm
I wouldn't personally want to be paid that way, but I've heard
of people that have and they didn't seem to mind. I guess it really depends on how much per page. I remember when it was $1. I think it's $2 now so if you do say 1-1/4 pages and get $4 for it, I'd say that's good. But you still only get $4 even if it's 2 full pages. Of course it depends too on the font size they use. That's why I'd rather just get a line rate. Or they might also pay you 1/4 the rate of 1 page if that's all you type. There's a lot of if's. You need to ask questions.
That post was supposed to be on another thread but it seems to apply everywhere! nm

good post, but sad state of affairs nm

good post, but in response to 'why apply if you don't want the job'....

This is only my opinion.  If I am considering taking on a new account, I will send my resume' out to a few companies, and see what offers come in.  If it takes one company a day or two to make an offer and another company a week, I may not be available in a week.

Not sure if you think it is proper to send out a resume to just one company, and cross fingers hoping they will call with a decent offer.  I, for one, prefer to interview the company, not have the company interview me.

Hope this sheds some insight on why you may not receive a call back from those who submit their resume'.  You may be taking too long to get back to them.

I'm like to know the answer to her post also. I have worked for an MT company in NY state,
and while I lived in another state at that time, I received full benefits; Ic or employee status had no bearing on receiving benefits.  If I were the original poster, I would check this company out very thoroughly. Something just doesn't sound right tax-wise.
I know nothing about this company, but I just wanted to say just because she wouldn't post her na
means absolutely nothing.  There are reasons why a person may not want to post his or her name about such a volatile issue.  I was in the same boat a few months ago.  I would have implicated someone else.  Sorry, this may not make sense, but I'm just pointing out that she may have a valid reason.
Today is Columbus day, and state offices and post office
is closed. Perhaps some docs took a long weekend. Maybe that is why on this particular Monday the work is trickling in. I am just getting some work now. So maybe it will come in later. Just an idea, about it being a holiday.
I wouldn't touch this post with a 10 foot pole. nm
:x
I knew it wouldn't take long for a flamer to post...sm
I don't even know where to start. Do YOU have a child(ren) who plays soccer every Saturday or football every Sunday? Do YOU go to church? Do YOU have kids you want to take to Sunday school? Some of us that work at home need that weekend time to spend with our families and GOD!

You show me any other profession that requires a person to work either every Sat or Sun. There isn't any!! Doctors rotate and so do nurses! It just sounds to me like these MTSOs don't want to take the time or spend the money for a scheduler. How hard can it be???
I wouldn't waste my time calling the Post Office
Breitner is dishonest when it comes to their check mailing and check amounts. Same thing happened to me when I worked there and I went through the steps tracking it down.  They ended up cutting me another check (weeks later) - ITS ALL A STALL TACTIC.  Find employment elsewhere.  This will continue to happen until you leave the company.  Good Luck.
Thanks guys for taking the time to respond to my post. I'll go with the State job if offered.
I may do some PT/IC a couple days of the week just to keep my skills up and just in case they offer the lower rate of pay.

Gonna miss you Guys. Thanks for all your help.
Note post on main board re: MTIA forcing credentialing. Can we say police state?

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
I knewww I had heard of this law, thanks for post for the MTs
It has not been that long ago either I heard of this on TV within the last few months.  There is no excuse not to let the MTs know so they can make plans.  I just cannot understand this mindset.  They even do this, (knowing it is coming) the employee goes on vacation and comes back is is let go.  Had the employee known, they certainly wound not be spending that money on vacation and had it go toward LIVING.
Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need.  I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
I emailed them y'day, still haven't heard back. Will post if I do. nm

The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm

I wish people wouldn't be so encouraging. Then maybe we wouldn't constantly run
.
If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes.  It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes?  The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates.  Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it.  Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.

Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.

Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.

Different state to state. You would be surprised to find

IC can be defined differently state to state.  Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules.  You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states.  If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it.  Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state.  All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form.  I would only do it as a last resort.  If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work.  No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.

At my company I'd ask for $18; probably wouldn't get it, but I wouldn't go lower. nm

They should take out state taxes for the state
nm
It varies from state to state
nm
Varies from state to state
My own state recognizes partial unemployment, too, when your work gets cut down to half of your regular workload/income.
They must deduct FEDERAL taxes.. NOT STATE taxes.. if they took out state taxes.. it would be FLORID
which would only have to be refunded to you for you to pay YOUR state what you owe them which is nothing but a pain... be glad they weren't handling your state tax.. and I think in this case.. if someone at the IRS told you they have to deduct YOUR states taxes.. it is that person who is uneducated... they only have to deduce federal income tax

I've heard only positive things about them. So, I applied, but haven't heard a word. Maybe fl

APPLY ...
1) Explain what you need in schedule; I'm sure you'll get it.

2) IF it is brought up, explain. I'm sure you'll be fine with that!

why don't YOU apply with OSI?
nm
Please don't apply because ...sm
you can't even spell why ruin a good thing for the rest of us?   As far as ads being posted well duh - the company is growing with large accounts being added continuously.  Nothing wrong with new business!!!
I would apply for another job
One that gets good comments AND takes out taxes :-)

BTW, that's what I did and start the first of the year, couldn't be happier!
Don't apply there then, what can I tell you.
xx
Again if that is so, why would you need to apply at DSG?
You come on here knocking them down for not responding to your holey (misspelled on purpose) self.
Why do I need to apply? No, I don't need
for any amount of money.
Please - where did you apply?
Please, where did you apply?  Yes, I do have a letter of recommendation from her.  I've got 3 kids to support on my own, and I feel so discouraged.
How do I apply?
Do they have a website? Thanks!
MW MTS, apply to
TransTech..they are growing and wonderful to work for, and do not outsource to India.
Does that apply to ICs too?
nm
Thanks! I will apply and see what happens. NM
