WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! We turn down work because so many hospitals are sm
calling wanting a company that keeps work in the USA. The trend was stronger a few years ago before it all came to light about poor quality, the woman in Pakistan who threatened to post medical records on the web, 911, etc. There are hospitals who look for US-only and they are the MAJORITY not the minority. Definitely seeing the tide turn on offshore from an MTSO perspective, both MTs and customers!!!!!
Why, Is something wrong? I used to work with them
I just sent a note to say hi and heard nothing back. Where did you get this info?
Nothing wrong with that. Their work requires someone with
that set in stone requirement.
It could be that you are on the wrong account, there is a lot of work.
Things are busy. If you'd like, send me a private e-mail. I think I can help.
WRONG - I work on 2 which are NOT overflow and know of 3 more sm
in my own STM group that are not.
So you are supposed to work until that minute like nothing is wrong? sm
Do they really expect everyone to just say OK and carry on as usual until that time? They're nuts.

I don't think it'd work just to unionize here. Timing's wrong. SM
Actually, the phrase Pissing into the wind, comes to mind. Once the folks offshore competing for the same work unionize, then maybe. (Did you notice that successful unions are for lines of work that can't be sent offshore? Inability to replace workers is key.) And once EMRs come into widespread use here in the States and a new workforce has transitioned around them, maybe. Being an optimist, I also like to think that countries with new growing middle classes will start producing, not only more demand for middle class wages, but plenty of local work too generated from people who will also get to benefit from this amazing medical revolution we're all part of. In the meantime, identifying and training for a position in the medical information field or another that will/should have decent-paying work in the future would be a good idea for any of us. Anyway, that's what I think.
You have it all wrong. I work SMARTER, not harder.

I will take on any acct. After months of getting used to it, I see what I am making an hour. If it is worth the work required to do that acct, great. If it isnt, I ask to be taken off acct and so far, have never been refused. Sometimes takes little while for them to get another MT for acct but have never been refused. Company is not working for the prestige, loyalty to an acct, or ME for that matter, or for the good of mankind. Why should I? I am in this for the money, just like the company. I am very much a pro, which is probably why companies would rather have me on another acct, than to quit giving me work all together. They know many companies are always looking for a good MT.   Like other posters, I dont understand why someone would work below their worth. There are too many companies out there to try. I have tried several, staying with the ones where I could make good money.

Well, it wouldn't work for me - (wrong equipment).
to make hanging look like an accident (for an adult, anyway). Making it appear that it was part of a partial-asphyxiation sex act seems like the only way to do it. Unless, of course, he was messing around with some other person who fled the scene once things went wrong.

You're right, though... very sad.
Wait .. that came out wrong. I'm not glad you don't have work .. just relieved I'm not alo

Will this be for IC or employee work? nm
s
This is IC work, right, not employee? Thx. nm
s
I have 3 but I work as an employee
Dont you need benefits? That is the only difference between ic and employee.

I work as an employee........
so I work a set schedule, but my supervisor is VERY flexible when I need it, and I was able to choose my hours. I also found the insurance to be MORE THAN reasonable considering to get it on my own with my family of 6 it would cost us OVER $1350/month. I also believe you should give a position more than 2 to 3 months before stating you had a negative experience. It takes that long to get used to all the dictators, especially an acute care account, which I am on (Dictaphone), with hundreds of doctors. Again, I can ONLY speak of MY experience with Medware, and it has been an AWESOME one, and I plan on being there for YEARS to come! JMO
You can work FT as an IC. You need employee or SE
status.
Wrong. Companies chose to or not to offshore work, nobody makes them. sm
My company does not offshore work, absolutely will not. We've actually gained/kept accounts assuring clients that we do not. We have many clients, cutting edge technology for both customer and employee, a healthy growth rate and a high MT retention rate. It's not impossible to have a successful USA-only based company. Sadly that may not be the norm anymore, but it's a choice MTSO/CEOs (whatever they may be) make and in my opinion maybe cutting some of the bottom line and offshoring is being done in place of producing a high quality of work that keeps a customer happy and not looking around for other service options. Subsequently I think these companies then suffer inferior work further because they are paying less and/or maybe have contractural obligations. Personally I'd like to think they'd still prefer high quality to low prices and inferior product. I have to wonder if these offshore companies are losing just as many accounts because of their product. I just know I am glad I work for a company who doesn't outsource, doesn't plan to, and has every intention to remain successful because quality does count.
You're wrong. You are not required to work one weedend day a week.

regarding hospital employee work - sm
again, as posted previously, it really depends on what state you live in. What state do you live in??? There are quite a few hospitals that although they do not advertise, they do hire transcriptionists from around the state.

As for Diskriter, and any company for that matter, please do not believe everything you read on this board. It reads like the National Enquirer for Transcription. For every good thing a poster might say about a company, there will be five people (or who knows, maybe it's the same poster over and over again), saying bad things.

Just because one company is not a good fit for a few transcriptionists, does not mean that every Transcriptionist should run. Sometimes these are really bad transcriptionists that were let go, or maybe they are great transcriptionists that were dealt a lousy deal by the transcription service.
Are you the same unhappy employee with no work?
What's up with all the slamming.. People say negative things but never back it up with any proof or clear up what they mean.
Statutory employee. Work when you want
nm
Employee status does not work 4 me

What type of work and IC or employee? nm
nm
How does assigned work = employee?
I have my own clients. All that work would be considered assigned work; there is no one else to do it but me. And as for the MTSO I work for (and the individual docs, for that matter,) it does not matter what they assign me to do, they just cannot dictate how I get it done or the hours I work, right? I want to be totally clear on my understanding of this. Thanks.
I should say that this is for ER work, employee, Merit system. nm
x
I work as a hospital employee at home
//
For IC work? 8 cpl is OK if you are an employee and getting benefits, but for an IC it's awful!
s
Are you ever able to get OT or work more days or hours if you want if employee.
Thanks for the input
Never would. BUT I am not an MTSO. I work as an employee for a company and I see everything sm
that I mentioned in my first post routinely. I don't mean to include all by no means, but don't try to make this out as a dream job. It has already been done and that is just one of of the reasons we are in the sad state we are in.
anyone work as hospital employee for/through Diskriter?
Was wondering how that works out, if that setup is better than working for a service. Better benefits, workload?
Ahhhh! Okay...work as an employee at home with
very good work habits. I have a great schedule and very rarely interrupted. I use the expansions in Word and do have many. I've been doing this for 10 years and leave few blanks but I do think I spend too much time on referencing. Maybe I just don't type fast enough but my hands sure do seem to fly on my keyboard! I just thought that maybe there was a secret I did not know about how to format expansions or something on that line. Thanks so much for responding:)
Anyone work for Archivus? Do they have employee status or IC? (sm)
Good pay, steady accounts, benefits?  TIA.
I have not posted anything wrong. It is common knowledge that Keystrokes does not send work offshor
Now I know why so many people do not like these boards. I did not write anything bad or over the top. I simply stated facts. I agree with the others and will now observe but not post. This is craziness here. If someone asks a question, I guess they would rather have answers from those that do not know the real answers. Call the company if you have questions from this point out. The phone number and web site are not secret.
Anybody work for TransHealth as an employee and how do you like it? Is the insurance affordable?
nm
Scenario: No work. Docs not dictating. You are an employee. What does that do to your

If you are doing no work, well, any formula to extrapolate your "down" rate of pay is still going to equal zip.

And if you go on vacation?  what does that do to your "down" rate of pay?  If you have no sick leave and you can't type, what does that do to you "down" rate of pay?

If you have no PTO yet and you are down for weather, computer problems, etc. if you are an employee, are you kicked to SE?  What happens to your insurance?

These are all questions you need to get hard answers to and get answers that are palatable.  And get them in writing.

Can someone tell me the difference between IC and employee and what hours are you expected to work
as an IC. Are your hours flexible as an IC.
Only if you work directly for their hospitals, not as a Diskriter employee. nm

I'm sorry, I should have said I work as an employee for a local nephrology office
I tried working for a National, but it wasn't a good fit for me because I didn't like the fact that I had to work holidays and weekends. And yes, I know that sick people don't take vacation days and there's work 24/7, but it just wasn't the job for me. I love my 9-5 job. I guess that's probably the only way that MT's don't have to work weekends and holidays, by working for local doctors.
You are wrong! Here is the ad. I got it too. There are no words spelled wrong and the caps are pa
This is pasted from the bottom of the email blast.

Why are you trying to stir up trouble? Keystrokes does not send ANYTHING offshore.

Here is the email blast from ILHIMA. The KS logo is at the top but does not paste here:

Not a KS employee just amazed at the conclusions that people on here jump to. I work for a
small MTSO and hope that they are never mentioned here. I would hate to see someone I know attacked so constantly. I feel sorry for service owners that are not MQ or that big.
I work for a nat'l as an employee, and my PTO rate is now HALF of what I actually earn working. S
nm
What is your present line rate? I gather you want to work as an employee and not as an
IC because you want PTO and the FICA, but would you work as an IC?
It depends on your account, employee status, amount of work agreed, etc. NM
x
You'll work as an employee, not IC. Need your own C-phone and pay for your own long distance line
s
Was there a short time last year. You work as an employee, not IC. Different software/diff. accts.
s
Easy platform, PTO if you are employee, production incentive, direct deposit, work flow varies on
different accounts, but usually have enough to keep busy, lots of QA feedback.
Statuatory employee versus regular employee....
Can someone tell me the difference between a statuatory employee versus a regular employee?  My company offeres IC or SE status....I am confused about whether switching over the SE would benefit me more than IC status that I have been for some time with them?  What are the benefits and disadvantages of being an SE versus IC?  Thanks for all of your help!
They hire both IC and employee. I am an employee (see message)
and I have full benefits. I am very happy that I came to work here. I came as a statutory employee from a large company. Everyone at MDI has been great to me.
Depends on if you are employee or statutory employee (sm)
Employee, 8th and 23rd of month
Stat. Employee, 15th and 30th month
Diskriter - Anyone go from their employee to hospital employee with them?
Thinking about giving up on being their employee and applying for a hospital employee position through them, they have one in PA right now that looks good.  How is it for scheduling?  Do you keep your line rate or get whatever the hospital pays? Who manages those accounts, is it the same PM and DR that are on the other ones?  I have DR and feel like she doesn't have a clue what she is doing and it is so annoying, but I just don't have the guts to let the company know she needs to step it up a notch because the transcriptionists are not happy under her.  Are QA the same people or through the hospital.  They have 1 QA that is constantly asking us questions on doctors and format, things we should be asking that QA person.  Annoying that new people move up to QA but people who've been there 2 or 3 years get treated like dirt and jumped account to account.
Current Amphion employee...I'm very happy. The part of Amphion I work with has no faxes, lists,s
minor demographic work..superb QA and feedback.  Fellow MTs on same account are more than willing to help and now they also have mentor program.  My pay is what they said.  They do have different pay for different levels.
Let me know if you pursue this company. I would like to work for a MN company as an employee?
Let me know! Thanks!
