You had to open up so many screens just to get where you were going. Thus, you got nowhere FAST..

Yeah, I'd say that would be frustrating.
Could you switch over to work on the Transcend side to work on those accounts?
I'm in tears reading this (sm)

I work my fingers to the bone.  I work day and night, haven't had a day off in 3 weeks and I make $2000 a month for my efforts.  I've got experience like you wouldn't believe but can't find a company willing to pay for it.

I'm about ready to stick my head in my oven.  **sigh**

You bet. My rate has doubled. I'm in tears.
I only have the single rate but it looks like I will be worker longer hours the future.
Just did my taxes for the first time since being married. Im in tears!!! SM

Could anyone tell me some great companies that hire employees.  Looks like IC positions are not going to work for me anymore :-(

Thanks!!!

The exact same experience I had. Had the worst ESL dictation I've had in my life, was in tears NM
NM
AND they just reduced their pay rate to 3.5 cpl
or 4.5 if you are on a certain account, or 5.5 if you aer on a certain account. Cut my pay by over half.
on some accounts, yes, but they reduced their
even being paid per page, it still works out to about 7 cpl as an IC. They used to be a good place to work until M made it her little candy store. Don't count on getting the work she promises you.
EMR has not reduced my job in any kind of way
Still doing the same job as in early 1990 and EMR brought in. We were told about it. No change at all for us. I don’t know what the big deal is about.
They only reduced the rate of ASR , but pay is still more than other places. Plus, sm
contrary to another post above, there is no lack of work at all. Only around the holiday time was it a little slow but that is usually the way it is at other places too.
I feel your pain...my pay has severely been reduced.
If my pay this period is $500, I'll be lucky! And I agree with you, it isn't fair that they have severely overhired, especially for the MTs that have been with them for a long time. In my opinion, during times like this the work should be distributed based on seniority, but obviously that will never happen. It just stinks all around.

I too have been testing for other companies during all this downtime. I'm even thinking of painting my living room, that is if I can afford the paint. LOL!!!
OSI reduced header/footer size but still keeps
@#$%
So what is the suggestion if all nationals are going to VR for these reduced rates. I suppose a lot
of people will just stop coming into this profession as I expect they already have and others will train for other jobs. No sure what the future holds thats for sure. Seems like no money so that will move a lot of people out of this. Who needs all the aggravation that we are given for no money.
Does TranTech have speech recognition and is rate reduced?(sm)

Also how would you rate their SR program as compared to Medquist SR?

To the people at Transcend that had their line rate reduced by 40%, have you checked with any
attorney to see if this is legal. I didnt realize a company could just reduce your income like that with no advanced notice and that be legal. I know I would be checking with someone on the legality of doing that.
System was down for a while. It is frustrating.
I know they are working on it. Overall, I like this system better than most.
Platform can be very frustrating sm
If you get stuck or have a question regarding any issue, dont hold your breath on them answering or helping.  To me, they are very shady people.
I know it is frustrating and I sure don't enjoy it
either, but doesn't it make sense to give all applicants a difficult transcription test?  What better way for a real cream of the crop MT prove that she is skilled?  If the test is easy, the results will be the same, whether the MT is a newbie or highly experienced.  True?
So true and so frustrating
(NM)
I have been running out of work with them also...frustrating! nm
nm
it's frustrating to have 14 years and get $14 an hour..
i won't work for line rate ever again... and i work almost 4 jobs now to get six figures. pathetic pay these days. made more working hospital back in the day
It is frustrating for me to see ads when I do not have enough work. However, they are great sm

people to work with, and I have been happy for the most part.  They use Wordscript, which is a Word-based platform and very easy to use.  Pay periods end the 15th and the last of the month, paid by direct deposit.  There is no set pay day, but generally I am paid within a week to 10 days of the end of the pay period.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I know, it's so frustrating. I would at least like a yes or no, just no response is maddening.
nm
Ugg this is so frustrating! I am going to try to get more lines the first week
of the payperiod and maybe that will help. I have a child but he is away for the summer so I am able to sit and wait 24/7. I just have to juggle the bills this time around, either pay for the furniture or the rent, but not both. Will be lying low this week food-wise too, good thing I am alone and can cut back on going anywhere or buying anything. Perhaps the recession will end and the new accounts will help. Going elsewhere might end up being the same thing, so I am going to overlap TT with something else. Just thinking aloud here... thanks for your feedback. It is hard to talk to coworkers when you are home and don't know anyone in the area who does the same kind of work.

Is Dictaphone better for VR? Escription can be frustrating with that at times.
My account is mostly VR and I have to work an awful lot to make a little.
I hear you. It's really frustrating to have almost the perfect job within your grasp. nm.
nm
relevant. I take that as a sign the copmany is frustrating to say the least. NM
.
lmao!! yeah maybe I'm the recruiter...suggesting that my co-worker is the problem. yeah that make

The company I work for does it, to keep all accounts in TAT, can be frustrating but most of the time
am just happy to have work.  I am not sure, but I think I work for the same company as the previous poster, and I'm going to stick it out because it does seem to be getting better lately as I think the accounts are better covered now.  If I were you, I would ask what the deal is, who knows, they might give you a straight answer or change your accounts if they find out you are unhappy, you don't know until you give it a try.
It definitely can be frustrating. I tested for Accupro a couple of weeks ago, sm

and there were several long reports to type, yet I never received the courtesy of a response.  They were great guns at first, sending me info about the company, telling me how impressive my resume is, etc., and after the written test, I heard back immediately, but then, after investing several hours into their written test .. *poof* .. nada.  I don't know that I aced it, but after 25+ years of being an MT, I didn't think I did so awful that it would not even merit a reply.   Such is life ...

On the flip side, I do realize that companies receive 100s of applications when they run an ad, and so I try to be patient and realize that I can just be lost in the shuffle somtimes.  I perhaps am not aggressive enough, because I do not email or call if they drop the ball.  There are lots of other companies out there.

Nice people, agreed; very frustrating to work for, though.
I have to agree that the people are very nice. That's about as far as goes, however. The platform is clunky (We're working on a new one has been the constant refrain for years, with no real sign of it's birth anytime soon).

To answer the original question, I'm able to average about 250 lph, even with the craptacular platform (mostly due to a few docs with regular patter lending themselves to a lot of canned text); that said, I would likely be getting 350 lph or more with similar effort elsewhere.

Back on the negative side, however, the communication there sucks. Maybe 1 in 10 e-mails to management is acknowledged, let alone answered.

Very frustrating.
Big time..They usually have the Indians work at night and weekends. It can be frustrating to log in
and have their not be a lot of work on the account your on. The only Escription account that has extra work is the one in which the hospital had them agreed NOT to send their transcription to India. Otherwise, we have to share our work with our partners as they call them.
Tons of work on Enterprise. Should be last frustrating. Good luck. nm

Frustrating situation at TransTech makes me make typos here on this board . . .

I have figured out a way to pay my bills with such **old, wornout** words

HAVE NOT figured out a way to pay my bills with . . .

Yeah, yeah, I spelled health wrong -
I am very angry right now and my fingers are taking it out on the keyboard.
Yeah, yeah, AND enjoy!

This is Ms B. - Talk all you want, I
You drove me to drink.  A six pack just won't get it anymore.  I am on the hard liquor.  Just kidding.  Get back to work.
You would have to talk to them about that.
Sorry. I believe that is confidential information as far as pay but as far as their requirements, it is my firm belief that 5 years is needed to be a good QA person.
I can tell you this because I still talk with MTs that
work for them currently, my name is still on the mail list, and I have not been there in over 2 months. I'm not doubting that they have hired people, but keep in mind that they have brought down the 3-5 year minimum experience, now down to 2 year minimum expeience. So that accounts for A LOT of the new hires.
lp talk
I think they pay very well.  Correct about turnover on QA managers.  Pay is 1st and 15th, but once in awhile, they change it to 7th and 22nd, and you wait an extra week to get paid, which is quite horrible.  Is your new job Emdat?  Did you find the job through here?
Like to Talk More to You

Hello,

You have an interesting name, something like HappyWithoutPS?  Anyway, I see you know a lot about Precyse, the true straight skinny, eh?  That's what I wanted to know about.

Do you mind telling me what company you are now working for?  Do you like it?  I am looking for a good one.  Thanks.

Linda D.

No talk?
They also cannot  control your rights to freedom of speech, as long as you are not spreading lies.
So, let's think of something else to talk about
nm
thanks for pep talk
I appreciate it. I was feeling like I just shot myself in the foot. I will check them out. From what you say, they sound okay. Is this one people refer to as MDI? I saw there is also MD-IT. Which is which?
before you talk yourself out of it,
you'd be wise to consider the future of MQ in this country. I left there after a long time and long time being their cheerleader. All the red flags of concern are in place.
You might be able to talk...
MDI-MD into that one. They seriously need weekend coverage.
Talk to your STM about it - she or he can sm
set your choices as ASR vs non ASR if you want to opt out. They don't just let you know, you would have to ask. Also what I was correcting what that you said ASR pay would drop to 35%; your pay remains at 70% of non ASR rate. Did you know other companies pay a flat rate of as little as 2-3 cpl for editing?

As for what is not on ASR - it's not always the crappy guys who are left but the people whose formats can't be mimicked by the ASR engine. (Guys who say - Oh go back up and do THIS, etc)
Talk to HR

You need to talk to HR, because I do believe the other poster is incorrect when she says that most companies pay in full for one employee.  Rarely does anyone do that any more.  When a company advertises paid insurance, they are probably meaning that a portion of it is paid and not the entire premium.

Some employers pay more of the premium than others do - it depends on how generous your employer is.

Believe me they DO talk
They will find out. Whether its okay is up to your company and whether you signed a no-compete agreement. My company found out and tried to make life miserable for me and continues to do so. I won't quit
no I don't talk to anyone like that sm
except comments like this. I have heard enough complaining about this profession in 35 years. Its very obvious to me this person has not been paying attention to what has been going on. If she had had experience working for a national she would KNOW that this has been going on and will continue to go on until people stop it. I do not see how anyone who says they have been doing this for as many years as she has can not know this is happening. Its happening and people need to get their head out of the sand!
nobody else would talk the way sm
his/her messages appear on this board. Easy to figure it out.
AND WHO ARE YOU TO TALK DOWN - sm
to MTs in such a rude and demeaning manor?  Whether or not you're mgmt, I don't give a rodent's behind ... they are entitled to their opinion just as much as you are.  If something is affecting their ability to make a decent living, they also have a right to speak up without your high and mighty attitude.  You're happy at TT? Well, bully bully for you!!  But your rude tone and the way you talk down to your fellow MTs ( if that really is the case) makes one think that you are also a very UNHAPPY person.
