yeah, but I think some places have no holiday incentive

I think at other places, they're used to it. They think it's the "norm."

What companies cut you off at 40 hrs if you're a FT employee? Any places let you do as much as

I've been with places that disabled Ctrl/I as they said the line count given was "too high.

Yeah and we're probably
going to see her name a lot more because I heard a bunch of people just quit (again).
Yeah, I guess you're right sm

I shouldn't have used the 'sweat shop' analogy. It's just that the last company I worked for were notorious for 'line skimming.' There was that and now this. It just seems like how low can it go. I've been ouf of the industry for two years. I guess most of you have had a chance to digest these changes.

You're right though - ANY work is better than NO work at all. I guess that's the price we pay to work at home typing medical records.

What's a girl gotta do to earn an honest pay for an honest living, these days! :)

Really sad where people will readily list places they hated but not name places that are great.
What a wonderful, sharing group of people MTs are. :-(
Oh yeah, they're hiring..I think 100 MTs..remember??LOL

If TT is saying what line are, yeah it will be same as

Oh, yeah, I miss that gross line, too....
but I came from a 65-char company originally so I just look at it as back to same ol, same ol. But yeah, I do miss those gross lines...

Overall I haven't had too much problem adjusting, but then I was just grateful to be working again. And I also like the flexibility; I'm glad I didn't go to WMX with some of the rest.
Yeah, it's Escription. The line counts are just not there.
I'm going to stay with my PT job that uses Dictaphone and bag Transcend.
Yeah and pay is a whopping 5 cents a line.
x
oh yeah, your one-line zinger was so much more helpful
NOT -

I really don't mean to be rude to the OP, however, the thanks-but-no-thanks approach rarely garners help.

The posted who stated more specific questions would be helpful in providing better help had a valid point. If one wants to know how to be an IC (which I can only speculate to mean as soliciting for private clients - or not - the OP does not make it clear), there are a number of ways to answer. Much, much, much of this information is available in many different forums on the web already. Should I chose to mentor someone for free, I would want to know what the OP needs to know, where they live, how much education/experience they have. I don't know that anyone can read the mind of this OP and know exact what kind of help is needed.
0.076 a line for acute care?? yeah, that is obsurd.

Maybe they're next in line to get bought out........ nm

Well, that's you're getting 45% of your regular line

Or, you are paid by the hour/not line.
Wow, if you're paying ICs $1.50 a line, count me in! nm

Anyone QA for DeVenture? Know what they're like, line rate, etc. no msg

If you're paid by the line, and not for checking - sm
demographics, then the more time you spend checking demographics, the more you are working for free. A little bit of it is one thing, a lot of it is quite another.
If you're referring to the 20K-line post, I am NOT mgmt...sm
I make this type of line count because I'm willing to work on different accounts and work extra when the need arises. I LIKE paying my bills, so I am flexible - and that, in this day and age, is on of the real keys. Nothing is as it used to be when work was consistent and pay was better, but I need to pay the bills. I have a great communication with my supervisor, and that is another key. If you don't talk to somebody about your problems or lack of work of whatever, it cannot be fixed. I don't care if I have to learn every acct the company has - I'm going to do that, because it will ensure that I can maintain a good line count at the end of the payroll period, thereby affording me a better check.

The basic fact is that working for a company is no different than any other aspect of your life. If it's not working for you, then you MUST make a change. Complaining about something will not change it - and ultimately you will spend your life feeling miserable - and trying to make other people feel miserable, too. I choose the opposite.

I've been at a multitude of other nationals and, for me and for now, this IS the company that I'm happy with and with whom I intend to stay.

You can go ahead and flame away - 'cause while you're sitting here typing nasty responses, accusing me of being mgmt, or making negative responses about Transcend, I'm working away. Now if that sounds "condescending" to you, TOUGH!
Your "Two Cents" is probably what you're worth per line.
nm
Well, you should have no reason to check if you're one of the MTs who gets good line counts.

Yeah, yeah, I spelled health wrong -
I am very angry right now and my fingers are taking it out on the keyboard.
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

Yeah, yeah, AND enjoy!

Been both places
I would say you won't better yourself.  Of the 2, I'd choose Spheris but I'm not still there either.
Could you tell me the better places?
What companies are there, if you don't mind, in case I have to look. THANKS!
Most places like you to have in the mid-90s at least. Sorry. nm

Some places will let you do Fri., Sat., Sun. Never saw

There are other places that pay well.....
I'm SE and 9.5 cpl with 6.5 years of experience.
I have done it several places sm
I love TransTech, I MEAN I REALLY LOVE IT. I am IN love with MT again.
places to go
I know several of us have gone to Encompass, Keystrokes, Webmedx, to memtion a few.

sorry i got kids screaming at me right now. Thought I better correct it before one of the high and mighties say something.
no more than other places
and it would depend on the account.  As in most cases, I have found that after doing the account for a while and getting used to the dictators, there will only be a handful that really continue to be difficult each time you get them, when you sigh because you know it's going to lower your line count.
Maybe you should look other places for
companies rather than just ONE single board. There are MANY companies out there who don't post ads here, and many who don't post ads at all.
Actually, that is cheap. Most places much more. nm
nm
No, there a lot of places that have two divisions.
I just don't think you see it much in transcription companies. I love the small company feel of MDI.
This is going places it never should be, all over a comma. nm
nm
Few places inside...sm

Dial up:  First Choice, Spheris, Precyse only if 37K or faster, and SoftScript.

Satellite allowed:  Precyse, TRS, Opti-Script, WebMedX, Probity, and MQ.  nm

Here's a few places that have been mentioned..sm..
Accuscribe, DSG, Echo Sten-Tel, Execuscribe (just started using it recently), InTouchMI, MQ, and VanBelkum.
Don't know about Good places, but here are a

DeVenture, MedGarde (supposed to be not goodl), Meditech in Georgia, MTS in Mass., NEMT, Nicholas Transcription of New Hampshire (but no pay until the client pays them!), Opti-Script in Penn, and QED. I do not know if these places are currently paying weekly - other than DeVenture - only that they have in the past. Good luck!

Is everything getting counted the same way? Many places don't

places to work

Hey, just a shout out to all.  Of these companies who are the best to work for.  Transolutions, Webmedx, Axolotl or DSG.  Anything you have to say about line rate, benefits and equipment provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Do any of these places have enough work any more?
Seems like all of the big companies are low on work any more. What gives? How are we supposed to make a living?
Radiology places??

Where to go for great radiology transcription jobs??  I am seeing 6.5 cents to 9 cents a line...  i see .75 to $1.15  per job.  Things are not like it used to be when you see per job.  That is hard when you run out of work as I just left a place that ran out of work paying per report.   Any suggestions where to apply?

Two great places
Transcend and Diskriter.  Awesome places to work; no drama, no BS, no broken promises.
I've had two places tell me no
I'm not 100% sure, though. I was told I had to have 2003.
