Yes, I would have loved the job with Axolotl. I was very disappointed that I did not pass it.

I am never one to make excuses, but I honestly feel that the sound quality on my end must not have been very good as I did not hear some of the things that were in the report. I did feel it was easy also.  So, it's definitely my fault for whatever went wrong.

I truly loved Axolotl and (sm)

kick myself everyday for not keeping up w/ my line counts.  I was let go last May because of the low productivity, but for over 3 years my acuracy rate was very acceptable.  I was good at what I do, just not good at producing it fast enough.  The platform is very MT friendly and pleasing to the eye and the IT staff is extremely knowledgable about Lotus Notes.  The editors and mentors are always ready to answer a question (no matter how stupid you may think it is), and they are quick to remedy any situation.

I was unemployed for 7 months following Axolotl and recently started with an established company.  I'm sure I will like this company as well; I'm pretty easy to get along w/ and quick to learn; but I'd love to be able to say I am an Axolotl employee again (I'm still too embarrassed to show my face there).

If you are looking for one of the better companies to work for, Axolotl is your best bet. But, just like all companies, numbers are the bottom line:  You pride yourself on producing 'acurate transcription', but if you can't produce 'fast and acurate transcription', move on.

Axolotl insurance is very reasonable. Unfortunately, I did not pass the testing with 14 years exp.
I'm not sure what my problem was. I thought the transcription testing was easy but apparently my headphones are just an awful quality because I just did not hear what it actually was on some parts of the test.  In any event, obviously people have and do pass their tests. I was in the same situation. I needed affordable insurance and Axolotl was very reasonable, I want to say like $300 a month for family so I was pretty bummed when I did not pass the test but best wishes on whatever you decide.
disappointed
It didn't take me long to see through the smoke and mirrors. I do believe their managers sincerely care but their hands are tied in many respects.

I wish you the best in your tough decision. Luckily for me it was not a difficult one.
Very disappointed
Had hoped of all the Nationals, this one had the integrity they purport to even know the definition thereof.  Bait and switch for sure.  Horribe QA, horrible communication, lack of integrity ... course, that seems to be the deal with most of these companies ... so whatever works for one may not work for another.  Where are reputable, honest, decent companies?  P.S.  Everyone I started with @ Transolutions left, including those with over 20 yrs experience.  Was very disappointed in their lack of professionalism and lack of organization.
very disappointed
I agree with everything you said and then some.  The only thing holding me is I need insurance and most places make you wait 90 days.  I've been an Editor for years and years and I've never seen the cluster that is the set up with these people.
I am just disappointed
.
Disappointed
Well I work for Transcend and I am very disappointed in the number of Indian transcriptionists.  I'm near retirement age, love the account I work on and make halfway decent money so I won't be going anywhere at least for now but this sure changes my opinion of the company.  How sad.
No I am not disappointed at all
I work for MDI and I get acknowledged every two weeks. It is called a paycheck. I am a professional and do not expect any kind of special weeks, rewards, or other things. In fact, I think MT Week is juvenile and silly. I really think (and no, I am not an MTSO) we should be thankful in this economy that we have jobs and not always have our hands out for gimme, gimme, gimme.
No, not disappointed

This is the sum total of what anyone knows about the poster who touched off all these comments.  She wrote:

''Just when I get my creditors settled into dates I pay my bills, I will have to revert back to having to go to the payday loan for money. Twice a month is too long between paydays.''

Some of us have pointed out that with four months to get ready for this change in payroll method, a reasonably mature and disciplined individual ought to be able to prepare for and adjust to this change.  Others have suggested that we cannot possibly know what horrible circumstances (caring for a terminally ill relative was one possibility) getting paid every other week solves that being paid twice a month will not.

The writer will have to ''revert'' to getting high-interest, short-term loans from payday lenders.  She has apparently gone this route before and then failed to take measures to see that she does not need to ever again.  And if she feels she must borrow money this way, it has to be the fault of somebody else (MDI/Transcend.)  Nope, nobody has convinced me yet that this is not an immature and blame-shifting person with poor money management skills.

Disappointed, but don't know what the deal is
I had an interview set up today by Amphion at 9:00 a.m. - no call. Very strange - she called me Monday morning and asked for my schedule this week to set up an interview - I told her anytime, any day except Friday - she said Wednesday at 9:00 EST. OK, now it's 9:56 and still no call. I'm so disappointed - she said my testing was awesome, etc. - maybe I'll give them a call later and see what happened? Don't know.
I am very disappointed. I was going to apply there
I was going to apply there, but I will only work for companies that only use United States employees.

Thank you for the information.
what article?.....and why would I be disappointed?
nm
Sad, but true. Definitely disappointed in Transcend. n/m

nm

thumbs up for WMX here too...not disappointed (no message)
xx
I left MQ and went to Keystrokes...so far I am not disappointed..(sm)
I haven't run out of work and I love the account I'm on.  I think if my account did slow down there are plenty of others that are coming on board that I could be cross trained on. So far..so good!
Good Luck. You won't be disappointed! (nm)
x
I am with you. Left a while back. Very disappointed.
nm
Oracle...nothing. Kinda disappointed.
I thought they liked us?
Do not believe that article about Spheris. You'll be disappointed.
nm
I am disappointed too, but then again, the new operations manager used to work sm

at Medquist, so obviously outsourcing would not be something unfamiliar to him.  I have worked with them for over a year, and I truly believed the family thing that was pushed, but it does not have that feeling anymore.  I need to talk to Tonya, but my gut feeling is to walk away, just scrape it off like something bad on my shoe and move on.

I'm sure you can find something else.  The great thing about this industry is you can always find another job.  It may not be ideal and exactly what you want at the time, but something to get by until the right one comes along.

Good luck!

Actually, I did pass it.
And if you read my entire post, I mentioned the need for continuing ed credits, which I would only need if I PASSED THE TEST.

At a certain point, either you know this job or you don't.  So someone with TONS (20+ years) of experience does not necessarily do a better job than someone with 6 years' worth.
Pass

The software doesnt keep accurate track of your time or lines.  I even kept a log, didnt matter.  I accrued time off that I was not given or paid for when I left.   You can check the archives for many of the same types of issues and stories.

Take a pass.

One of the lowest paying around for employee, not much better for IC.  Not reliable for steady work either.

Oh, I can pass it, all right....
I just seem to always be missing a little pocket change to take it.

Oh, really now, I'll be honest. It's never been the highest priority to me because (a) my employer doesn't care, has never cared, and won't give me more money for having one, (b) When I have that much money at any one time, it usually goes to buy back to school clothes or an appliance breaks down and has to be replaced.

I personally know quite a few CMTs and admire them for their dedication to keeping it current. I have always thought it rather telling, though, that most of the AAMT members and CMTs of my acquaintance are childless.

The fact of the matter is, many MTs are mothers. And mothers usually put themselves last. Right or wrong, that's a fact.
I think I will pass on this one myself. nm
xxx
I am trying not to pass out as well, but (sm)
I believe she was right when she said this is across the board, no matter where you work.  The health care crisis in this country is just that - a crisis.  I will stay here and pay the increased premium as from talking to people who work in different occupations as well as MT, they are all complaining about increases.
LOL - Maybe you should pass his
a leg to stand on for ICs to collect unemployment.  They'd be beating down his door.
This too will pass and you will have
your board back.
I think I'll pass.....

I'd Pass On Transolutions...
if I were you. I believe they base your pay rate per line on how well your score on the test you take when you go to their site. Whatever level you fall into based upon your test scores is what you will get paid. Say you got a low to average score on your test, you would probably fall into pay level I and get paid 5 or 6 cents a line or something like that, and $10 an hour for 1-2 months of training. They're basically just like every other company out there offering transcriptionists the oppportunity to work at home crappy pay, not the best dictators, and of course, if you run out of work, you never get paid for downtime. You are also REQUIRED to work two holidays and weekends.
I will pass that along to the Administrator. Thank you. (NM)
Goldbird
Pass on the job. I am thinking it is a co I used
to work for and they never paid on time even with that long wait and did not get it right either. No excuse for a wait like that except for mismanagement by the company. Pass on that job. You will have headaches you don't need.
How did MT pass QA in the first place?
nm
Sad Rad MT...I was going to pass along this same message to you...Lee said that
everyone would be called about any issues they e-mailed her about!  Good Luck!
I'll pass on them then.
x  x
Seven cpl WITHOUT spaces?!! No way ... I'd pass, but that's just me. nm
Good luck
I interviewed but took a pass
The pay was lower than I was willing to take at 0.775 with 8 years experience in heme/onc
If you think your office won't pass SM
muster, don't feel like cleaning, whatever, I'd just get a pic of an office off the web and send that.
Thanks wouldn't want to pass

Poll: Take or pass

After reading posts below here's the situation: IC at company presently for a while which has lots of work. Decided to take E-Trans plus for security of employee position. Husband provides benefits. After reading warnings below:

1.  Take and try out anyway, despite the negative feedback.

2.  Keep IC job and do as much as possible, as it has not been a problem there and no need to stir the pot.

Just confused and seeking feedback since new information has popped up on the board. I am like the newhire below and do not want to waste time if job no good! Thanks in advance for your advice.

Sure, and pass the bill on...
to who exactly?  The consumer?  The American people who are already being ripped off when it comes to healthcare?  Some of you just want more and more and more, but you have no clue as to where this mystery money will come from.
Any MTs here who pass over job ads that require

I have never seen this discussed on the board and was wondering if it was just me?

I cannot imagine having to sacrifice either every single Saturday or every single Sunday?  My daughter is involved in various sports throughout the year that meet/play on Saturdays and we enjoy attending church together as a family on Sundays.  How do you pick between your kid and God??  Have you noticed too that this rigid schedule seems to be more prevalent  with the MTSOs that provide the better benefit packages...figure.

Whatever happened to the good ole days of weekend rotations? I don't think these particular MTSOs even realize what they are asking a person to give up.  I know this business is 24/7, but weekend rotations make a huge difference!  Of course the majority of these particular MTSOs seem to be the larger nationals ran by salary paid suits that clock out every Friday at 5:00.

Please note that I realize that we are living one of the worst economic eras in history and if it meant feeding my kid or being off on weekends, this wouldn't be an issue.  This has been going on for years.

Oh well, I guess if there are that many MTs willing to give up having a life, these MTSOs have no incentive to make any changes.

I would really be interested in seeing what everyone else thinks.

I loved it loved it loved it - sm
when I was working at a hospital in St. Louis, they used Chartscript, and I was paid by $0.09/line - I would average 2200 in 7 hours!! I learned it in 10 minutes and was well on my way
oh how I loved YOG...
just thinking back on that company makes me feel a homesick kind of feeling.
: (
LOVED this job!!!!
I worked for this company about two years ago and LOVED the job.  I eventually had to quit though because of a family situation.  The owner is very nice and helpful.  There were a lot of times she was extremely stressed out because of everything she had to do each day, but I never found her to be rude or pushy.  If I am ever looking to get back into transcription, she will be the first person I go to for a job!
LOVED the job!!!

I worked for this company a while back & loved the job.  I say to anyone out there reading the same rubbish I did, use your own judgement about a person/job and don't let bitter faceless people influence you otherwise - and THEY talked about being rude?!!!  If I wasn't forced to give up the vet op work (family reasons), I would never have left!  New clinics kept opening every year, and the owner always did her best to keep me informed and made my job as easy as possible!  Some people prefer to work for large transcription companies, but I prefer to work for smaller companies, where you are recognized as being an indvidual that is an IMPORTANT member of the team.

Yeh, right.  She was rude to you AND THEN offered you the job?  Come on!  It sounds more to me like you stunk on the easy test and are bitter about the results!

We truly loved MDI-MD

I think all the anger you're seeing from MDI'ers is because we really WERE led to believe that MDI was a very solid, responsible company that took great interest in their MTs.  And in fact, this has always been true.  I have NEVER had a complaint with MDI and have truly valued my job with them.  When I was hired, their ad said they were looking for people with 10 OR MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!!!  I had never seen such a high-level expectation in an MT job ad before, which is why I applied.  And they maintained that level of competence throughout.

So this acquisition comes as a genuine shock to all of us, more of a shock perhaps because I think most of us have had a very good personal relationship with MDI.

It may be that this Transcend acquisition will NOT be quite as horrible as we all think, and I hope it isn't,  but either way, the fact remains that our relationship with MDI will change and eventually disappear, and we're quite sorry for that.  I loved this stinkin' company and respected it, and I'm sure my fellow MDIers did too.  But life is about change kids, so away we go.....................!!!!

If you pass, they get back w/you quickly
It's after you get "hired" that seems to take forever. I got my test results in 2 days, a week to hear from the recruiter, a week to get employment package, a week to get receipt of that acknowledged and schedule training, a week to start receiving equipment. And who knows how long before one is released from training to full production. I'm starting to wonder, but my current place is so awful that MQ is a definite step up. Anyway, don't quit your old job if you get hired; wait until you know when you will be in full production.
Oh let me tell you, they know how to pass the drug tests! (sm)
One woman I worked with was talking about how to use "Yellow Root" to "beat" the drug test! (that's what she said, "beat" the drug test) They know all of the tricks of the trade. One company stopped using the urine drug test and now they use the hair strand drug test, so I don't know what they use to "beat" that one (I guess they pull the strands out of somebody else's hair!) :-)
E-mail is enclosed and I will pass it on to the other gal
and we can keep in touch.  I will be backing into the ortho account so we should be able to help each other out if needed.  I currently do ortho with another company but work is hard to come by right now.  Talk soon and e-mail me!
be thankful you didn't pass
the employer of the year will jerk you around like you wouldn't believe. I have just quit after 6 months of lies, lack of work, implied threats. I have all the memos, IMs, etc. that show exactly what a bunch of liars and cowards they are. They are only interested in India and getting those people trained and on line. Be careful and be very cautious about who you work for.
