Yes, but that's a good thing. They demand quality.

Of all the nationals and bigger MTSOs, MQ is about the only one who never does quality checking.  But in the end, that's not a good thing.  Its best to learn to stay on our toes and keep our quality up. Don't worry - you're worried about it, so that's a sign you are a great MT. Others don't care.

Personally, DSG is a good fit for me. Pay is good and on time, sound quality depends on the account
and I like the platform. There is not much weekend work, although sometimes is available.  I get along well with the management, no major complaints.  There is pay incentive once you get over a certain number of lines in a pay period.  I work as an IC, so can't help with benefits, insurance questions, etc.
DSG is a good company. The sound quality is good sm
but I don't understand why they are hiring. In the a.m. was have NO work. The afternoon and evenings do have more work though.
I experienced the no-reply thing AND the sound quality for me was crap. Had to redo my whole hard
s
Good luck with that. The quality is NOT there.
Very few have mastered the English language enough to pull off an entire report without American QA, and certainly not enough to take over the entire industry.
Good quality reports? Ummm, no.....sm
The reports I edited when I was there were NOT of good quality. Sure, there were a few MTs (maybe 1 or 2) who produced good work with very little errors, but many of the MTs were offshore, and the work was atrocious. Had to fix MANY errors, and unfortunately the MTs never learned from their mistakes. It's frustrating having to correct the same mistakes over and over and over again. Even the American MTs work was not the greatest.
Yeah, you get to see how good or bad their voice quality is!! nm

The good companies who actually care about quality.
x
good thing it is a temporary thing sm
because people with your attitude don't stay in anything very long anyway. Nobody has to listen to that crap to keep their job.

You don't know me either. you can say old fart all you want (when did 53 get to be old fart....too funny) but at least I am a valuable employee who can get a decent job!
Why don't these companies realize that good sound quality is

essential for transcribing.  If the big bosses had to listen to the scratches and static for hours on end, day after day, maybe this wouldn't happen, but most of them don't even know what a foot pedal and headset are.  I find that the sound quality from the internet files are far worse than anything I ever encountered on DVI, C-phone, or Lanier systems telephone systems.

Only good thing I have heard lately is that a friend of mine, also an MT recently filed for disability based on hearing loss and/or inability to hear the files that she was required to do and won the case for total disability.  She does have some hearing loss, but when she took her computer to the hearing and dialed in and had the adjudicator listen, there was no question that she would never be able to continue in this line of work.  Maybe a few more workman comp cases would wake them up.

Had the same happen here, heard the same thing, good references and good ....sm
job record will get you better $$$ if you are willing to promote yourself, search like crazy, talk to everyone, etc., but I have never been paid a cent more for CMT, what a waste, and all the years I paid my dues to AAMT, what a joke, they did NOTHING to better our field, just took the money for better conventions, as far as I can see.
I have heard really bad things from QA about our overflow that goes to Amherst. Not good quality and
clients complaining because the MTs that are getting the work are making mistakes and not reading the client profile. Good way to lose accounts.
Pay 8 cpl, use MTWorld software, sound quality supposedly not good. nm
v
i don't know if saving your reports to show quality is a good idea
:)
Yeah, but the sound quality is horrible on all accounts. Good luck with that!
x
Good sound quality, fair line counting, pay always on time.
nn
1100 lpd for FT, good sound quality, ExText software, LOTs of ESLs..nm

i proofed a few reports from a filapino and i was shocked at the good quality. wasn't expecting
;
IC, they have to ask and not demand
nm
then demand a union instead
otherwise shut up.
Yep, we still are IN DEMAND, in spite of it all! nm

yep demand letter already sent
and will probably end up there but I don't care as I deserve to be paid for my services. And the entire way this person handled this entire matter was so immature. Wish I could copy and paste some of the e-mails that went back and forth. Very childish and immature!!
Demand for payment
Send her a demand for payment letter with 10 days to pay you. Send it certified with return receipt. State that further action will be taken if payment is not received by you in 10 days, and add that interest will begin to accrue on the balance. In the meantime, see if you can find other MTs who are owed money by this same person. If it's only you, they know you won't take the trouble to travel to their state to file in small claims court. If you have several people, you can file a class action suit in federal court. That's what worked for me a few years ago with a company in California.
Supply and Demand?
I would wonder if it's not more an issue of most MTs wanting to use their on computers. My Mom, sister, and I all are transcriptionists and there's no way we'd work on anyone else's computer. First, I've got to have my laptop. I don't want a big, clunky desktop taking up space in my house. We already have 4 other laptops anyway (we homeschool). There isn't any room for anything else. Also, I've got to be able to work anywhere I happen to be. I have a strict 8-hour shift but that doesn't mean I have to be home to work. I'd be too nervous traveling as much as I do with someone else's equipment.
Supply and demand
This is what drives wages more than anything ,and because of offshoring and VR, demand is down. Don't know about supply, but the schools keep cranking out MTs, so it's probably pretty steady. As long as MTSOs have a large pool of MTs to choose from, downward pressure on wages will continue. Has nothing to do with what we think we are worth. Companies will only pay what they have to pay. This is true in every industry.
They offshore, sound quality not great, quality
of work coming back from India is bad and they don't pay enough for editing it.
you spelled quality qualitily maybe that is why you have quality issues.
Sorry, but even spell check misses stuff. You have to at least be able to spell to do this job. Well, you don't have to know English if you are Indian, but us Americans have to spell!
as mentioned, not a big demand for it whatsoever - sm
because of the fact that it can be outsourced. However, there are hospitals in very very remote areas that do not want to or cannot outsource, usually a very small hospital with outdated equipment, etc., - those were the travel assignments.
meant to say the way U DEMAND 2 b treated..NM

I would send a demand for payment
that you have that as proof.  Give them x amount of days to pay up or you will take further legal action.  Also make note in the letter of the disconnected telephone number.  Then you'd need to file a complaint for the money due.
The only good thing I can say about SS is if you

go to work for them you'll not have the experience to know how horrible they are and when you leave you'll realize how horrible they were.

The sound quality is horrific.  Some accounts have ESL dictators that are horrendous and I have 20 years' experience and do 85% ESL.   Management is a joke.  They don't know how to treat MTs.   The only reason they offer the mentoring program is they can't get good, experienced MTs to work for them.

Good thing you did!!!!!!!
x
I did - not a good thing..
I did radiology. Lots of demographics to populate and training sucked.  Not a money maker.
That was really the only good thing going for them. nm

Keyword is "employee." Employer can demand any

Send a Demand Letter Certified

with your invoices.  Tell her she has 10 days to pay or you will pursue legal action.

You might also consider taking her to Judge Judy.  They are looking for new & interesting cases, but first of all you have to send out your demand.  Contact the show's website & submit your case.  JJ is an arbitrator though and you will get paid from the proceeds of the show - so the woman that owes you money doesn't really get punished per se, but does get a good dose of public humiliation on nationwide TV!   That way you let other MTs know what a rotten business woman she is.

The show pays your airfare/hotel too.  My daughter took a girl who assaulted her to JJ and she won 5K!  That's why I'm posting anon - can't really discuss specifics until after show airs.

Blanks can be a good thing!
They prove you know what you don't know! Very important in this work. Just be sure that all else you transcribe is right on.

My goal was always for 100% (thanks Scrapper), but really no more than two blanks in say 3-6 reports, and that has landed me lots of offers.

My first test, btw, was with MedQuist. I asked before transcribing the test how the scoring system worked in order to judge when to say when if it got impossible. No harm in asking!

Consider it a good thing they never got back to you..sm

I worked for them for a year.  They never answer e-mails or get back to you regarding anything.  The platform is great but the sound quality is horrible.  They move you from account to account and I always ran out of work.  Not the most professional company around.

One good thing about America - sm
if you want a job, you MAY have to conform.

EVERYTHING is being outsourced. If you do not want a job because it hurts your feelings that the people who OWN the cmpanies oursource, then that is just dandy with me. Maybe I'll take your perfect job and be happy with it. Your loss.
Agreed - I think it's a good thing.
.
Good thing that have not contact me....
because I will definitely not go back. Do you know what their new company name is?
That's another good thing about TT - they don't bother you (sm)
constantly with emails.  I wondered about that when I first started too (3 years ago), but you'll soon come to realize they leave you alone to do your job.  If something is wrong, they will let you know.
...a good thing to have. Really helps! NM
s
Good one! I am going to do that exact same thing when I get off.
Perhaps something of this nature would be viable as it is as a letter to the Editor of our local newspapers?
a good thing and stay put, not think! nm

Sometimes failure is a good thing - sm
I would have to say you need to be looking at this as a blessing because more than likely that is exactly the type of dictation you would be listening to day in, day out.  I have 90% really bad ESLs on my accounts that are wearing me out right now.  There have GOT to be better accounts out there for us both.
While you are laughing, that might not be a good thing because
I thought I was reading up at the top of this that the pay for VR at TT was 3.5 which is even less than what this person is making. I think at 3.5 or less folks are really going to be unhappy.
Good thing you're independent,

Wow, you are scary. It sounds like a good thing for
TransTech that you moved on. Good riddance.
Good thing you are just a recruiter - definitely not a speller - LOL

If those opportunities truly exist in this co., then it will be a good thing. s/m
But I've been around long enough that I've heard this all before, and the statistics are not on our side. And even when the MTs DO see an improvement, it can sometimes take 5-10 years to finally trickle down to them, as they are usually at the bottom of the do-do list. I do sincerely hope that I am wrong, and that this company is truly different. Only time will tell.
I disagree - pooling can be a very good thing indeed sm

Well-created pools can be a blessing to MTs because they prevent cherry-picking, plus they are a boon to the clients who receive ALL their work back in a timely fashion, instead of whatever the MT feels like typing.  Now bad pooling (throwing too many doctors into a huge pool) is another thing entirely - that is bad for productivity because there is simply too much variety for an MT to learn any one physician well.
