In Reply to: I know personally that when DD hits the bank, I can take it out right then and thus withdrawals can - not really true

the recipient has a paper copy of the DD in hand. If you don't have a receipt of deposit in hand, you don't have a leg to stand on. It doesn't matter when historical DD payments were made.
