IMHO

I have been concerned with these type of issues for several years now and have recently decided on an approach that I believe will be effective...Like many others it seems on this board I was involved with the UCSF mess and it did get a lot of attention...but those ripples have since subsided..
I believe this: the first thing to do is to adopt the city, state and locale of your acct...contact their tv stations, radio stations, local newspapers, any other sort of venue that you feel applies...simply make it known without giving acct or company name that local citizens are having their sensitive medical information outsourced with not only questionable quality but questionable privacy safeguards..for the most part this does generate a reaction and local discussion..once the information about outsourcing has been given the light of day, the next step and the more difficult one is unionization...with structural and strict pay tiers, cpl designated for each and every type of report imaginable, and union bureacracy and detail enforcement brought full force into this industry that has simply become a plantation...with most MTs seen as nothing more than menial labor...that, in my estimation, is the only only way the profits that always seem to travel upward are ever going to bring forth for the day to day MT benefits, protection, fairness and job security..then maybe there will be a quality for quality exchange that will benefit everyone...

IMHO
They dumped the leads so they wouldn't be able to see who was getting all the work (Non-US MTs) on Job Lister.
IMHO
Your perspective is meaningless. Glad you moved on!!
what does IMHO mean?
I keep seeing it on here but have no idea what it means.
IMHO - nm
It is never, never a good idea to be paid like that for your work.  Docs can be VERY slow in paying.  Do your bills wait?  I don't think so.  RUN!
Only that they are the best company out there IMHO and
all the best to you, they truly are a wonderful place to work and they take care of their MTs. Let us know how it goes :)
Specialty, IMHO.
I've done both, and I think specialty pays the most, mostly because you do the same people often, so you can really build up your shortcuts and whatnot. I, however, have never done inpatient OPs (to any great degree) but I've often wondered if that doesn't pay much better, because of the normals.

In any case, I'm making 9 cpl doing specialty (cardiology) and have no problem whatsoever (when I apply myself and don't stop to read this board) typing 400+ lph.

But that's just me. I'd like to hear others who have done both, because I've often wondered if that's the norm.
Transtech. IMHO.
I have tried nationals, locals, the only close that comes to inhouse acute care and gives the ability to get anywhere near what I used to work is Transtech. And yes, I work overnight, and weekends, and whenever the work is there, but I like those schedules.
Fantastic company IMHO. nm

Of course, it depends on the companies, but IMHO....sm
It has been my own experience (almost 20 years now) that I have been happiest, on average, with smaller companies versus large ones. It seems the larger companies are big on hype, big on promises, have fancier websites, but when it comes down to working conditions, how valued the employee is, communication with the company, being MT-centered, the local or smaller companies have ALWAYS been better for me in pay, supervisors, administration, and even the little perks, so much more personalized. Of couse, this is a generalization. It seems the larger the company, the more you are a number, the more they can lie and shuffle you around, change all the rules on you, etc......and again, just my opinion and experience. I also learned so much more from smaller companies because they were always willing to explain, mentor, help, which busier, huge companies just cannot do. Anyway, very good luck to you, rooting for you either way!!!
SoftScript is great IMHO -nm
nm
still slow and clunky imho. nm

pay as usual!
Companies pay when hospitals pay welcome of the world of Mt!
just the usual with KS
It is nice to get an answer. It is nice that KS does not offshore. But what is not so nice is finding out that the person giving you the information may be misrepresenting themselves and may not actually be a recruiter for that company. So if this is the case, how can you know that they are not telling you lies about the company????
You mean, just BS as usual.
nm
The usual gig.....
Poor work flow management. Zero communication. Don't want to hear your input on anything. Whether or not you have a good or bad experience there is pretty hit and miss I'd say depending on all the variables. Certainly not a well-thought-out equation by them.
As usual, another one who knows
nothing about the poster. How was I insulting and what makes you so sure I'm not an MT? This Army Brat obviously has some issues with her company and is very paranoid that her work is being directed away from her. Maybe she should talk to her supe and not assume things she doesn't know.
Just the usual cowards who have nothing SM

better to do than rip other people apart so they don't have to acknowledge that they have their own deficiencies.  Instead of actually speaking to someone with their company and having them know what kind of people they have working for them, they come here anonny and post the same tired stuff all the time and talk about how great they are in comparison to other people they work with, how the company should value them, blah blah blah.

The loudest ones are usually the most lacking in skills.

Ok, so this is hopefully just worse than usual? sm
Do I have to let them know to hop on at other times, or is it understood that it's necessary?

thanks much for your help!!!
Yes, one to her, one to office as usual.
x
Thanks so much...As usual trying to do it the hard way
xx
Yes, still here - Business as usual SM
No major changes since Acusis buyout. Same pay, same clients, same platform, matching 401K now in effect. No reason to *jump ship* that I can think of unless swimming is something you like to do for aerobic exercise.
Aside from the usual abrrv, try dividing SM
words in half.

hydronephrosis = hyne
scoliosis = scos
cholecystectomy = chec
aforementioned - afme

Or divide words together like
Babcock clamp = bacl

This is very easy, once you get the hang of it. Have fun!
excellent advice - as usual

She may not be lying - but it is not typical or usual. nm

OSI W2's late as usual this year?
.
There is the usual posting by DIT. Gotta ask ..(sm)

Is there anyone out there that is currently working for DIT, getting paid and on time?  I know that there were many, many posts here not long ago on how they had stiffed a few employees but was wondering if they had turned things around.

TIA

You're the only one giving anyone flack, as usual.

My usual VR fits mostly the same time frame
as yours although I have gotten 600+ before but never 800+ and I start usually at 12, started 15 minutes earlier and by 1 o'clock that is what I had. I keep my speed as fast as it will go also, you cannot make any money unless you are able to do that. I was surprised myself, first time for me and perhaps just a fluke but hey, I will take that.
No, just your usual hunt and peck for lines day. nm

I bet you 1 million $$ you won't find one on mine. Mine is
2 years old and it does not have a 9-pin serial port, nor does it have a game port.   I have used both ports on other computers so I know what both ports look like.  I also have a company provided computer and it does have the ports on it.
Should add the usual disclaimer...No I am not mgmt - just another MT finishing her shift for the
night! I work out of Amherst as well, and the work is back-logged on many of our accounts.  Again, I don't understand those who claim no work.  We get daily emails listing loads of accounts, and nearly all of them are always full of work, if not out of TAT.  Dozens and dozens of clients listed I never even heard of! So, just seems a mystery to me how, or why, some MTs "claim" to always have no work.  Amherst sends mass mailings out 3 times a day, I believe, or at least 2 to ALL MTs - don't you read them? don't you get them? If you have no work, pick one of the dozens in the "red zone", and call your supervisor and ask to be put on a backlogged account. I have never been turned down a new account.  Learn it - get on it and make it yours! If its often backlogged, Bingo! Now you have a good busy account!
It's not law, but it's usual general policy to avoid law suits. nm

Is it usual for company to assign specific jobs?
I'm just so frustrated right now.  I've had some jobs assigned to me that are from one of my backup accounts, not just one but many, and many ESLs, which has really brought my line count down.  I know I have to just deal with it, but I'm wondering if this is a normal occurrence.  I got hired under the idea that I was on a low ESL account, which my main account is, but not the backup accounts.  This doesn't happen all the time, but it is happening more frequently now.  Do I have a reason to be frustrated with this, or should I just get over it and accept it?
No we won't. I said slow, meaning slower than usual, should have clarified.
.
MDI-MD - What is the usual starting line rate? smsg

Upon receiving email from MDI, it states they offer a generous line rate?  Any input here?  I'm interested in the cpl rate.  Thanks for any info!

Just how are they to work for as far as accounts, ESLs, etc. The usual things such as how they treat
the MTs and so on.
Merit is what is screwed up. As usual. New managers couldn't care less.
nm
My primary is even busier than usual and my back-up has been looking for extra help. Maybe time for
nm
Where do you get a Lanier dictaphone and what is the usual charge for unlimited long distance. nm
:
I work on it. Usual amount of work. Not running out but not backlogged either. They seem to have
about the right staffing on it. Hope that helps.
Got mine the very next day Fed-Ex.
nm
Same with mine.
I started working at 6:30 a.m. and we were still working on the day before! By 8:00, it was gone! That never used to happen!
Because they are getting rid of mine
a huge producer of tons of work by December if they don't sign on DQS and so far they want no part of it. That is why I am on a new account on DEP, mine is going bye bye.
On mine, many MTs with 10+ yrs exp. SHOULD be on 100% QA!
x
Hey. that is all mine will eat too--sm
Fancy Feast, and only the pate kind, with an occasional fliet thrown in for differentiation.

shhh- about the wrong board, or everything will be deleted in the transfer. lol.
Mine too. sm
Seems to be okay, only takes about 30 seconds to download.
Mine low too
can you work 2 accounts if you ask for one?
I got mine on E-Bay for $500
One thing you have to realize is Dragon doesn't work efficiently on most platforms. It is great in MSWord, but when you have to type in most if not all these different platforms that are Word-like programs,(these platforms actually pull from your personal Word program) it prints a character at a time, not good! (most of these platforms have all kinds of security and nonmicrosoft programs will not work inside the platform) I can still use mine but I have to open WordPad and speak to that and then copy and paste into the platform program.

There are some who will say you have to tweak it a bit to work in some of these platforms, but you still loose a lot of functionality.

I love this program as it has helped with my carpal tunnel immensely, but don't think for a moment that with this program, once you have it trained you are going to be making big bucks. Yes, you line count will go up a bit and I mean a bit. You are not going to get rich. People need to understand this is not a program where you have very little typing and the money will just roll in. You have to be realistic.
Yes, that is sad and mine
worked the first time
they pay mine
I've been working there a year. Paid internet was part of my job offer. Maybe this is a new policy or you have to ask for it?
