Which may be a good thing for those still working for them, no word on payroll yet - anybody got news on whether they stepped in &*&* and are able to pay their payroll yet?

I heard they did layoff some in house but to screw with them they noted last date of work as one year ago to delay compensation.

Just all around bad if you ask me.
Those who work there, should be careful - not sure I would continue.

Some people are always gonna be hurtful and mean, others are becoming that way due to the stress of this entire situation for such an extended period of time, and yet others are always gonna be idiots...


NEVER stop trying to help those who appreciate it and need it.  I appreciate it and need it and if you have helped just me, then it was totally worth the cause.

send email to the pocono mountain chamber of commerce - they are active members. they can be found on line - I think anyone who does a disservice to their industry and their local region should be reported.


Flood every agency you can with complaints and get these people out of business if they are doing what everyone reports them to be doing. I am so glad I do not work there. I will stick to complaining about low wages and cranky office workers - at least I get paid

You could fight it if that company had to pay a hefty
that in turn actually made it more cost-effective to hire American. Let's face it - those people don't understand anything but money, and how much they can make. If it costs them more to hire Indians than Americans, then they're going to use offshoring as a backup, not as a FIRST CHOICE.
I applaud your tenacity to fight
this.  Don't get me wrong...I am an IC who has also gotten really irate at MTSOs who have continually wanted to have their cake and eat it too.  You may be right about your taxes.  It may be beneficial to you in the end and you may even get a refund.  However, if you have claimed office in the home, etc., you will end up owing your share of taxes (well, come to think of it, once you deduct the self-employment tax you may still come out ahead).  Since you have been with the same company only a year, it will not affect you that much.  I have been working as an IC for the same company for 14 years and in the early years it was very flexible and accommodating to me to take time off for vacations and for my kids' activities but things have certainly changed from the perspective of MTSOs skirting the law for their own benefit and pocketbooks.  Let us know how your fight goes and good luck

And all it got me was broke!  I don't care as long as I have a job.  I know their quality is bad.  I know there are some accounts that can't EVER be sent offshore and those are the ones I'll work on.  On another note, now days when people want to talk to me about the jobs in other area being sent offshore, I tell them I don't care.  No one really cared when my jobs was sent offshore a few years ago and I just about lost everything I had, so the only thing I really care about now is whether or not I have a job.  Not meaning to be bitter or mean, that's just the way I feel.  Happy Holidays!
We have to unite and fight back before other MTSOs

In my non-attorney opinion (I am NOT and never have been an attorney or paralegal and I am NOT giving legal advice) and knowing that Transtech will be reading this, I, for one, will give you any support you need.  Their case is not worth your time, but you are stuck with it.  Since I know that some attorneys can nickel and dime a client to death, here are some things you might want to have with you when you visit your attorney.  (I realize you may already be in the process of compiling this information and I do not mean to be presumptuous, I just want to help.  I know when my brain is processing a million things, I sometimes forget some basic ones and am thankful when someone reminds me.  Please take this as an offer of help.) 


 


1.  Copies of ALL your posts from May of 2009 to July 29, 2009.


2.  Copies of all the posts for the other five user names alleged by TransTech from May of 2009 to July 9, 2009, especially the one they referenced about the “CEO.”  You may have to contact MTStars to see if you can get them to confirm that your e-mail is not connected to those posts. 


3.  Copies of all the POSITIVE posts about working at TransTech. 


 


With regard to TransTech’s statement:  “These defamatory posts have affected TransTech’s reputation in the industry and have damaged it financially as well as by causing prospective employees not to pursue job opportunities with TransTech.”


1.  Print out as many negative posts about other MTSOs (MQ, Webmedx, Spheris, Focus), especially if there are any from the other five user names that they allege in the lawsuit.


2.  See if maybe MTStars would allow you to run a petition to disprove TransTech’s statement “…by causing prospective employees not to pursue job opportunities with TransTech.”  Any Medical Transcriptionist/Editor Job Seeker who reads ANY post (on MTStars or any other Board) knows that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, there are lovers and haters.  There are as many cheerleaders as there are detractors.  Every Job Seeker knows to take anything posted with a grain of salt and we all know that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.  I, for one, am currently looking for employment and I, for one, would sign a petition stating that nothing I read on MTStars, pro or con, influences my decision as to whether or not I would apply at TransTech (or any other MTSO for that matter)  if they advertise a job opening.  If you can get 50 or 100 other Medical Transcriptionists to sign a petition stating that your posts had no influence on them as far as pursuing job opportunities, that part of TransTech’s allegations would be proven to be without merit. 


 


There is no Medical Transcriptist Union, but that does not mean that the approximately 100,000 Medical Transcriptionists in the United States will not stand up for each other, especially when it comes to Free Speech.  We have to show the MTSOs that we do watch each other’s backs and no MTSO can get away with suing an individual Medical Transcriptionist without insulting us all.


 


 


 


I say fight it. I worked for a doctor who fired someone
because she continuously would dispense medical advice including stopping Coumadin and other potentially life-threatening mistakes, yet she qualified for unemployment. They stated the doctor would have to prove gross misconduct. If that wasn't considered misconduct, it must really have to be bad and not meeting production would also not qualify as misconduct. Appeal it, they will have the employer do a phone interview and have to prove their point. Good luck with that. I don't see how they have a leg to stand on but just stick up for yourself. At this point, you have nothing to lose but possibility something to gain. More people should fight back and call them on this supposed misconduct. They are bluffing. Call their bluff!!!

I am glad you got out. I stayed on too long once this paycheck problem started thinking it will get better but it did not. He made me fell like I was the crazy one. He kept saying how I was threatening him and slandering his comp. Well the only threat I made was when I did not get my check and I stated I was going to the BBB. Then he got really crazy. I'm sorry I just can't quit using the word CRAZY when I refer to this guy. Anyone thinking about going here - don't do it. If you do work there - get out. It will not get better and the capt is CRAZY, CRAZY CRAZY. I let him bs me for awhile about making me a priority to wiring the money, etc. etc. In the end he had the nerve to tell me I should just be nice. Well hello when you are messing with someone's money it's kind of hard to be nice. Sorry to have to vent so long but this guy just gets me so made when I think of everything he emailed to me!!

The MT business, if you have not noticed, is every man for himself on a sinking ship. It is a sinking ship!!!! Offshoring is killing us... we are dispensibles here in the U.S.

there is definitely some degree of mania involved. I actually have 3-1/2 jobs... i do another part time on the weekends.
Going Crazy
I think I am going crazy here.  I notified the administrator with my question, and she said that it was moved, etc.  However, she stated that there is an arrow and a fire thing only.  She said she is not aware of a hand.  I am clearly seeing a hand pointing to the right towards my posts and replies.  Now, I have worked at a psychiatric hospital for many, many years, maybe I need to admit myself!  This is so weird.  Does anyone else see a hand?

I've been calling around like crazy trying to find a decent company to work for that pays a fair rate etc. Am I crazy to think that with 5 years acute care experience I should get more than 7.5-8 cpl? I've been making 9 cpl at my last job and made 6 cpl as a QA person for the last year as well. Can someone tell me where I can go where I can be an employee and get a fair line rate? I'm willing to do ASR.

or do I ask too much from a transcription company? All I want and this is the utmost truth, is to have a fair shot at making some money. That's it! I don't want gimmicks, I don't want to cheat the company, I just want a shot is all.

I've given Transcend so many chances to do that and I just don't think I can do it any longer. It's so abundantly clear to me that I'm just a number there. I started a new account a month ago and I'm not any more use to it now than I was when I started, it's That difficult. They were good enough to limit my reports to only Discharges but they're not able to limit the types of dictators I get so I literally get everything, even the really difficult dictators. I'm brand new to this system, which is difficult enough in itself to learn. It's so blatantly obvious to me that if someone is just starting a job they should give you some easy dictators until you get used to how the system works, THEN gradually work your way up to the hard stuff. And to top it off all they can offer for help is some samples but these are discharges and the doctors don't do the same things over and over again so samples are useless.

The team leader is nice but she can't help me. If you work at Transcend you're on your way basically and for the kind of money they pay it ain't worth it.

I'm filled with regret everyday I log in. Nine years of experience here btw in case ur wondering. I don't want to look for another job but I'm hating this place more and more.

This is crazy. There's no way to do
3 times as many lines on VR. It takes too much correcting/editing. I'm so sick of this. Just how much more profit do these MTSOs need to make at the expense of the MTs?!

No specialty should be paid 7 cents per line. My last job paid 13 cents per line for radiology. My job before that paid 15 cents per GROSS line for radiology. There are transcriptionists who can't do radiology or ER just as there are Tx's who can't do ops. Spoken like a true TX who does NOT do radiology or ER.
That is crazy.....

Where do you work?  I would not type 1 line without my expanders.


What they should do is target the people who cannot type and punish them, not everyone.

I worked for the Toth's. The are unorganized, not professional, do not pay for the work on time, and basically rude. I know several people who have taken them to court, won, and still have not been paid monies owed to them!

What happens when you put a bunch of people on an account they don't know and could care less about and can't make money on? The account is soon lost. Seems to me the company is cutting its own throat doing business this way. Any bonuses the managers make better be wisely invested for when they are out on their butts because there aren't any accounts left.

I don't do Rad so I am not sure if they have any or not. They are growing like crazy though, so
call them and ask. They are usually always hiring. Right now I think they are hiring for Med Rec, Oncology and maybe Rad. Call them and talk to Debbie, my supervisor. She's great.

Being driven crazy!
So, I quit my job at SPI (formerly CyMed) because of all of the insanity that was going on there since the SPI takeover (constantly changing management, less and less work, horrible new work pools, payroll screw ups, etc). I found a much better company to go with, gave SPI my notice, and left (they never responded to my notice). Since then, I have still not been taken off their e-mail list and get their multiple messages throughout the day with their backlog status updates, etc., even though I keep telling them that I no longer work there and asking them to please remove me from their e-mail list! So, the other night, AFTER midnight, I got a call from someone with SPI asking me if I could do some stat reports! I couldn't believe it! I explained to the person who called me that I have not worked there since the first of February and have been trying to tell them that since then, and she was totally clueless! This company is haunting me! I just thought that I would share my agony!
I'm not some crazy SUPPORTER or
anything, but I think it's gotten a little bit out of hand. I've worked at OSi for 2-1/2 years and while everything is not all rosy, it's not the worst place in the world. They pay on time ALWAYS. I think the insurance is high, but I came from a before MT job where I thought that was high too...not much to compare it to. The whole holiday pay thing - on a conference call last week, they STRESSED that they were putting in place some guidelines for those MTs who abuse the system to get the holiday pay but assured everyone that it would not be held against them if there was no work before/after a holiday. They do offshore, so if that's a concern, then there's nothing more to say about that.

I've had a steady account there, as well as a back up that I've hardly had to use because I've hardly run out of work. I'm pretty much left alone to do my work and have never had trouble making lines.

Almost every company mentioned has pros AND cons...you do what's best for you and if it doesn't work, then try again.

Them hiring is crazy
Job numbers... 7 on this account, 2 on this account, 20 jobs - 14 of them speech on another acocunt. Always being pulled off the accounts for the day by the facilities. I don't get why hiring.
It was making me crazy, too until
I quit and went with a another company. Now I love MTing again. Please be assured that there ARE good jobs out there. You do not have to take the nonsense and disrespect MQ dishes out. Good luck to you.
A woman who went crazy
Keep in mind that I am old. Back many decades ago, in the early 70s, I worked in a large teaching hospital and we had just gotten those self-correcting Selective typewriters which at the time were all the rage. One of our MTs, a woman who had never been too stable a person, had had enough of a terrible dictator one day and she stood up, picked up her typewriter (they were heavy!) and threw it against the wall, thereby earning herself a free trip to the psychiatric ward upstairs. That happened 40 or so years ago and I have never forgotten it. On its face it sounds funny, but it was really sad. I wonder whatever happened to her......

Are you crazy? You have to sink a fortune
into equipment to work for them. A modem for about $300, another couple a hundred for their ATI telephoneless voice system, and their router. They were good once upon a time, but they increased their line counts and cut pay.

Since you have been at the hospital in your area, try and pick up one or two doctors that have a small clinic or stand alone practices for your own account.  Then build from there.  That would help supplement what you make from the national.  There are still IM's, surgeons, derms and psychologists/psychiatrists that use tapes and need someone.   Tell them about your hospital experience and that will help.  I do 300 to 500 lines per hour since I have been doing my docs for so long.   Good luck.  Patti

This may sound crazy, but I'm looking for one day per week - SM
I already work almost a full time schedule M-F. I have been there and done that in regard to juggling two jobs and working 14+ hours per day. All I would like at this point is one extra evening per week. When I used to have my own clients years ago, I would loved to have found an experienced MT who would just help with overflow once per week. Does such a thing exist now? Any leads would be appreciated. Sorry, I really choose not to post my resume on the Job Bank, so my message here may be deleted.
That is what drives me crazy about my current..sm

position.  I was told when I was interviewed that each month everyone jumped on a conference call to talk about things going on with the work and with the company.  Not only do they not do that, I don't know a single person I work with.  The only contact I have had at all for almost 4 years is with customer service, my supervisor, or their trainer.


The management says most people like it that way, but it is starting to drive me bonkers.  I don't need my hand held, but it would be nice to have some social contact with people who understand your profession, your account, or even just the company you work in.


I am finally over the 5-year mark for experience and am looking for something that is a better fit for me, but I am really disadvantaged in that I have no contacts through work.  I think I need someone to adopt me. 


Residents and PAs drive me crazy
I have a resident who NEVER, EVER gives the patient's name.

I have a PA who can't pronounce meds let alone spell them ~ she says solatol, Spivira ~ and one time on a discharge summary, she listed 50 diagnoses. Took up a whole page. It was insane.
