Without MTs, companies would not exist. You and many others have no regard nor respect for hard-working MTS. You can't take it with you. I feel sorry for you. Do the right thing...and, you know what that is.

That IS nonpayment for services rendered
and someone needs to give them a kick in the asp for doing that.
    One word: BUSH
    .
Because the lefties have more fun bashing Bush.
    nm
    whoops - should've said YO BUSH BUDDY....lol.nm
    x
So your saying you're a Bush follower since QT outsources? nm

Actually, companies get BIG tax breaks if they do offshore thanks to Prez Bush; who we all know supp

People seem to forget it was Pres. Bush pushed EMR in 2004. sm
Try googling 2 words: EMR Bush.

Found this article. Hope links are allowed.

I'm not kicking anything. Someone asked
shared my experience. I really don't think a $110 loss on my taxes is going to make or break me. I'm just giving people the heads-up on this company and how nasty they can be.
Seems like you are kicking a dead dog. (sm)
I assume you have contacted them yourself. Sorry, but I have no idea why they didn't give you work or why you had to pay shipping yourself. I understood the standard was they gave you a shipping label, you called Fed Ex and they picked up and delivered said package.

I assume you did deduct this as a loss from your taxes in the past?
    Insurance kicking in ..
Yes, Heartland does, and it is a good thing because you will need to have your death benefit available for your family to survive after you choke your own self for taking a position with them!
Okay. I will. Thanks for kicking my rear out once and for all
And if you are management, just to let you know, you will get my resignation in a week or so. I know, you will be glad to see me go, so I won't let the door hit me on the way out... Thanks for being so supportive of my decision to quit.
But what about those accused of kicking
trying to get MTs to see there is alternative to staying a vicitm. I have been accused of down kicking but have done no such thing. And would welcome my quotes that others seem to think are down kicking.
So kicking and screaming will do no good, huh?
    nm
    Husband ditto here. Kicking out...
yet, he does not believe me when I say I am trying my best to get the work. Ug.
or a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest (nm)

I have seen this with my own eyes SM
the place I work has hired no less than 4 or 5 people who absolutely can't operate in a Word environment, they keep talking about how great WP 5.1 was, pining for the old days....
This sounds like a Lee post. She's here alive and kicking.
And she won't go away. Unprofessional and not changing.
the email addy is because it keeps kicking back

There are about four people who have that email addy (it's just like yahoo, hotmail or aol), but this particular email addy keeps kicking back as undeliverable.

MTstars was the only place that this position was posted, so this is why I reposted it ... so that I could get in touch with those particular people.

    Are your eyes open?
Do you work for OSi? If not, quit bashing them. If so, why haven't you secured another position due to your unhappiness?
    RE: Old eyes/new screen
Are any of you having trouble with focusing on the new white screen.  I've been in DOS for so long I forgot what a strain the white can be.  If you're having trouble, how are you handling it (and not losing time transcribing)?
Rolling eyes here. They were being
    sarcastic get it??
Tired, yes. But you already WON in my eyes!
    .
****rolling eyes**** see what I mean everyone?

Get those $$ out of your eyes! No lawsuit here!
No defamation of character, TT Management!  It's all public knowledge.  That's right.  In the good state of Texas, one can look up this case and read the whole RIDICULOUS lawsuit.  Looks like something that would come out of that state!  Like our brilliant ex-Prez!
So give her the couple days before the kicking begins. n/m
    x
Rolling eyes is quite unprofessional, IMO. sm
Get over it disgruntled.  My goodness, did they expect you to do horrible things like to  work 8 hours a day and meet minimums?  Shame on them for expecting such of a Primadonna.
Cross your eyes and your toes too. :-) The only
than I read but once you get used to it and it learns your particular account, you should be able to do OK with it.  It's picking up more and more all the time, less things you have to fix on certain worktypes but I look at it as job insurance, not displacement.  No matter how they tout this thing, it'll never replace us completely.  And it's good for a laugh now and then.
I agree. My eyes are open too and sm
I trusted these people to operate decently.  If they are giving work to a company that doesn't pay people for work performed (even if it's bad, you know they have to be fixing it before sending it back and collecting their pay on it), then they don't deserve my trust.  These people at WMX are just as sneaky as the other companies, it turns out.
Your posts make my eyes bleed -

Keep your eyes and ears open. I have worked
for Transcend in the past, as did several of my friends, and we had a really bad experience.  MQ was better, which says a lot.  Hopefully things have changed now and they have improved their act, but things were horribly mismanaged a few years back, horrible accounts with cherry-picking, supervisors and other leads telling untruths, etc. Biggest point I remember was huge favoritism. I happened to be one of the favored ones, just by luck of the draw, while my friends were not as lucky. Again, just a bungled mess and we all left within a few months.  I believe one of my friends still has their computer. They never even noticed she was gone. That sort of nonsense. Best wishes to you, though.  Maybe you will be treated well since you are part of a business deal.
I don't remember using the word "glued" maybe you should unglue your eyes and read again
    .
Thanks a million!! I guess the spread sheet confused my eyes. :)

Something that caught my eye here is
you said an older woman. Good common sense should play into the part about the chem-7, just ordinary, every day sense, doctors, hmmmm, medicine, chemistry, sorta goes together. I would think a child should know that.
Just caught you in a lie.........sm
You said you typed 130 wpm yet you only make $17 an hour on VR. No way would you make that little with typing straight at 130 wpm. You must be thinking 130 lines per hour! 17 bucks an hour STINKS! I make $20 an hour typing and I made $25 an hour editing humans. !!!! so there smarmy pants!
DON'T GET CAUGHT IN YOUR OWN LIE. sm

First of all, you're obviously mgmt. since you know so much about inside goings-on.

Second, and here is where the fib comes in:  You expect us to believe that Leads don't  type on their own lead shift  (they're too busy, too much to do-LMAO) - and their lead shift is obviously a 40-hour shift, if the hours on the bottom all of their holier-than-thou e-mails are to be believed - when DO they do their transcription - during their SECOND shift or 41st hour ( I assume they finish their 40-hour lead shift and then get paid OT to do their typing).  Are you another one who thinks all the rest of us peon MTs are so dumb.  MTs regularly get the halfway decent work taken out of their queus and get h--l when they compain about it.

    yes, I caught them first
but already sent e/m asking them to forgive them. I am so flipping tore up over all this. Thanks for the good suggestion though.
    I caught that...
I wondered if perhaps the OP was attempting to alleviate her own guilt about staying for some reason.

As one of the MTs who DID leave as soon as they saw fit to quit routing their MTs work, I just kind of chuckled at her wondering which MTs actually left. I don't know about the OP, but there's no way I'm spending my valuable time sitting at a computer waiting for a few reports to trickle in. There are too many other 'fish in the sea'. We were not even employees; we were SE or IC status. They owed me nothing but a paycheck and I owed them nothing but my daily line commitment.

I'm not going to be loyal to ANY company that would, by choice, let MTs sit and starve while they ignore emails and deceive their staff. My loyalty is to myself and my family, for whom I provide. Other than that, I've never had a problem separating my 'professional' life from my 'personal' life.

I feel no guilt whatsoever. It was not my role in life to 'serve' MDI (or any other company). They contracted my services and my loyalty to them was in force during whatever hours I would transcribe for them; other than that, call me insensitive or selfish or greedy, but I don't feel guilty about anything regarding my actions.

They chose to sell, I chose to walk.

    Plain and simple.
Thank goodness someone other than me caught that!
    nm
uh uh.. I had 2 that were not; they caught me off guard.
    /
I think they caught a lot of slack....sm
from the clients when the trouble was going on in India and most of their clients demanded to be brought back onshore.  That is why most of the accounts are so good....very good dictators.  remember, the easy stuff always goes offshore.
    other ways
If your husband works or you have another employee job just have them withold additional money and you don't have to do a thing except at the end of the year file a Schedule C and it might give you more deductions.
    There are ways of ...
getting over on the MT when it comes to line counting methods. Most companies I have worked for in the past have some sort of wacky formula you go by - divide by this number then multiply by that number -- only they know if they are getting over and I don't think anyone would ever admit to that.
    pay both ways?
    nm
you can take it 2 ways:

    1) your test was so great that they knew they couldn't afford you.

    2) THEY gave YOU the wrong test.

Either way - you're too good for them. Keep your chin up - you'll find the right third job. Hope everything works out with your house.

I have seen it both ways, can do, can't do sm
I work for TT (um duh) and there I got my lines from the very first day. I am up around 1700 lines a day right now.

I don't have many normals, actually. I do have a wonderful Expander and glossary that I know like the back of my hand. I worked for a couple of other companies last year. One I could make 1500 lines a day, if they had the work and I could go to 1800 if they did. The other place...OMG and it didn't matter how fast I was or how many hours I worked, I never got more than 1200 and it just kept going down the longer I worked there and I think they were shorting lines or something funky because it was not coming out right.

I can tell you, I don't like Emdat Inscribe, Bayscribe, amongst others for platforms because it is just impossible to get up any speed with them. I had an easy time in Extext, MTWorld and MedRite getting my lines and getting up to speed FAST and I mean in a matter of days to a couple of weeks. I have been an MT forever and that helped, but I still can't make any $$ in Bayscribe, so it isn't me...the darn platform stinks!

It sounds like they are not dealing fairly with you on some level and hard to say where.
    It goes 2 ways. (sm)

If all these so-called accusations are really true, why didn't the COMPANY let her go a long time ago?  Any one of those reasons you cited would have been grounds for dismissal on the spot.  Why would they keep such a disruptive employee on board for so long, especially paying her the rate she was getting?

There is a post below that makes a lot of sense.  It asks why the 'best wishes' email was sent to the correct address and not to the address of the original resignation letter. One of those things that makes you go hmmmmm.  I wonder what their legal department will have to say about that.  IMO, even if the original poster had done all those things, the way the company went about letting her go is cause for a lawsuit because too many things don't add up and it sounds a lot like illegal dismissal rather than a resignation.

    One of two ways...
Either they knew who was posting based on identifying information, which makes me think (yes, my thoughts, not claiming it as fact) that the person posting really did have 'inside information,' or they received the IP address from this site, either by court order or simply by requesting/threatening.
    sorry...just very upset
=( not big on being put down by strangers!
Please don't get upset at everyone here
I understand why you don't want to come back. I always say to myself that I will only go to the gab board where life seems normal. And that negativity and name-calling abounds here.
If you don't come back, I would not blame you. But please don't leave thinking we are all nasty, and I personally am sorry how your question has been handled. I do not understand why trolling (nasty attacks) is not monitored on this board anyway, and the other boards on this site.
Everyone has a right to ask a question and no question is stupid. Except a baiting question or a redundant question like why is so and so always running out of work, etc. which is obviously a nasty hit to a certain place of employment.
What I am saying is I am sorry you are possibly being attacked (maybe they don't realize they are attacking your question, maybe it is not personal). But not all of us out here are that way. Finally, I want to say as I said a week ago, after this incident again, I too want to get out of this place except the gab and boards where people are supportive of each other. And although I have not been attacked like you, I sympathize and do not want to keep coming here and getting a bad taste in my mouth. My 2c.
    Me upset? LOL

Now why would I be upset?  I work for a great company and make great money.  It is a little annoying for people to say these things don't exist when they do!!!

As far as posting my company's name, I am not at liberty to do so after I posted my line rate.  This is a very confidential topic at the company I work for.  I will say that they have been talked about frequently on this board as a great company to work for.  I don't believe they are currently hiring at this time.

    The upset is...

Not that we are just switching to VR from straight typing. They are switching our VR to new software (that they claim to be more productive) and decreasing our line rate with the switch. We are currently paid a decrease of 30% of our transcription rate for VR but will be paid a 37.5% decrease when the switch to the new software takes place (this is about 1.2 cpl less for me). Unless the new software is really that much better right off the bat, that is a significant pay cut for us. If I can only do the same number of lines on the new VR software that I do now on our current software, I will lose a little more than $3 an hour for editing. I would have to be able to do about an extra 100 lines per hour on the new software to make the same amount of money that I am currently making. The problem is that there really is no proof that the new software will lead to significant enough productivity gains to justify dropping our line rate. I'll believe it when I see it. The idea of working harder to make (hopefully) the same, or maybe even less, money does not sit well with many....
