You didn't do anything wrong to apologize for.

It is totally appropriate to want to discuss some sensitive career matters privately. If someone is uncomfortable in e-mailing you, then that is absolutely their choice, but no one should dictate to you how you can and cannot communicate. Anyway, hope you get the information you're seeking.

Actually, I apologize; your post just rubbed me the wrong way. sm
I get so tired of coming here and seeing the high drama and the name-calling when an obviously content employee is called management or recruiting by someone who is unhappy.

Anyway, I do still wish you luck in finding something more to your taste. Personally I trust what my STM tells me; she hasn't lied to me yet and I don't see why she would start now.
Okay. I apologize. Didn't know
anyone was allowed to have Monday off. That's what I was told when I started. Good thing for you because you don't have to worry about Monday-after-the-end-of-the-pay-period.
I didn't say there was anything wrong.
I just think it is kind of strange that as soon as a post is put on here asking about Keystrokes, that Jo is the first to replay with a big OH THEY ARE SOOOO GREAT!  It just strikes me as a little strange.  I just kind of figured maybe you worked for their marketing for MTs department or something!  LOL - no worries!!!
You didn't do anything wrong...sm
Oriental is an Oriental...if ya don't like it oh well. You are what you are. Get over it. There is nothing wrong with the word Oriental. Would you rather chink? I don't think so. Now that would be rude. So get over the petty BS.
You didn't hear wrong
They called me about being QA and we were told the same thing, you get paid for what you change, but you listen to everything.  Then they told me I didn't pass the test, did I want to type (why would they want a typist if you don't pass the QA test).  Then I told them no way, they called back months later and wanted to interview me for QA, so I talked to the lady, then they emailed back and said they had all they needed.  Can anybody see the bubble over my head?
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! We turn down work because so many hospitals are sm
calling wanting a company that keeps work in the USA. The trend was stronger a few years ago before it all came to light about poor quality, the woman in Pakistan who threatened to post medical records on the web, 911, etc. There are hospitals who look for US-only and they are the MAJORITY not the minority. Definitely seeing the tide turn on offshore from an MTSO perspective, both MTs and customers!!!!!
Don't apologize
I was looking to see if you left an address. Good luck.
I do apologize

I took the fact that DRC was in California (I couldn't remember what town she said) and that it was a work from home company and just assumed....You are right, though, it's not the same company, and I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions.  She assured me they are certified with the AAMT (or whatever it's called! :) and they are legit.

By the way, I got the job :) at 1-1/2 times what I am making now!!

I do apologize
Delete away.
I apologize...
....for my foul language; I'll refrain from using such offensive terms in the future.
Don't apologize
Many of us have had these issues to deal with at certain times in our lives. Don't be sorry for coming on here to fellow MTs to vent. Worrying will not change things, of course. All you can do is your best. Are your bills paid? Is there food in your cupboards? If your needs are met, you're doing a lot better than some. I don't have much money at the end of my paycheck to put away, but all of our bills are paid and my kids' bellies are full, so I'm happy. Things do get tight, especially this time of the year, but it always seems to work out, and I will give credit for all of this to God. I have yet to see one promise He has made that has not been kept in our lives. Just keep doing your best!
I apologize (me), but
I have read a lot of posts and I do not know about which company you posted, but do agree that no one can guarantee work! I have read bad on both companies, but also good. Thanks, LOL.
I apologize

Getting ahead of myself and got misinformation.  *MDI-Maryland people are moving to Transcend as they are – if they are ICs then they will remain so.*

I guess we are too early in the game....

Here, Here!, Welcome To, Although I don't apologize SM
for those who certainly wouldn't want me to, I enjoyed your description of the torch-bearing mob I've been imagining myself these past few days. :)
I apologize for the typos.
I guess I shouldn't try to type when I'm upset.
Ok, I see your point. I apologize. (sm)
There was a point in my life where I had kids and a family to support and so it was more crucial at that time for me to have work always.  Now I can be more flexible about it.  Didn't mean to be mean.  Sorry.
Why should you apologize for your post?
Why are people crabbing about asking you to e mail? I thought the lunar eclipse was last week...but is there a full moon out there today? LOL
No need to apologize for length!
I am hoping for logical thinking in-depth reasoning such as yours. :)
Glad you feel better and we apologize, but sm
Administrator requested we come here.

I'm just reading up on the new changes, not posting except here, just for you!! :-)

Thanks for letting us invade this board for a while. This won't last forever. Probably a few MQers will be coming here soon to use the board as it is intended -- to find a new company LOL.

That wasn't meant as a "dis" to MQ, just that from what I read, the new program might not work for some. I'm just going to roll with the punches and come here later if necessary...

Thanks again!
I stand corrected and apologize to OSi
And, love the red coffee cup and candy.
I apologize if I sounded rude to you
It just gets my goat when somebody seems to show a lack of professionalism and others of us work so hard to try and be the best MT we can be, and are working very hard to support our families.  The attitude of working whenever I feel like it causes companies to overhire and then the reliable MTs don't have enough work.  I am truly not trying to be rude to you and I do apologize if I sound that way, but your attitude is detrimental to the other MTs and also to any company that might hire you.  I am sorry, but I still would never hire somebody with that kind of a work ethic.
I TAKE IT BACK and apologize. Someone out there truly believes we are
worth something. I think we have all been taken so many times and have become so paranoid that people are taking advantage of our desperation and vulnerability, we sometimes forget to people there are people out there that still value us and not DE-value us. Apologies to Ms. Reed!!!!
I apologize for the mess, I actually was stupid

I misread what you wrote and apologize.
My response below was a result of my misunderstanding!

My apologies, MtMommyof2!

I apologize ... that post has apparently

been deleted.  After posting above I went back to look at the post that I referred you to and I cannot find it.  It was posted either last night or this morning and there were several discussions concerning this.

I apologize,..this post is INCORRECT...SM
this was incorrect information and i humbly apologize for any further postings below. you are correct...they are accountants. i ask forgiveness for anyone i have offended. i was offered a job by them and i could have sworn they said they were lawyers, not accountants. went back thru my stuff and you were were correct. i ask forgiveness of those that read here and i will be more cautious in my posts in the future, if i ever dare again.
Apologize for the misinterpretation, but I DO have a life .. sm
and a very good one at that!
I apologize for any discord my post may have caused.
Again, despite other claims, it was not my intention to stir up such a big argument or to cause harm to anyone (including the company), and at this point the argument isn't even about the issue anymore. It seems to have morphed into an entirely different argument about whether people have the right to post pros and cons about issues within a company and where to post them. I think people should be allowed to express themselves freely on this board (under the discretion of the administrator) no matter what side of the issue they may be on, especially if all avenues internally have been exhausted . I have no desire to rehash, reargue, redefend myself, or re-anything. I think people can make their own determinations from everything that has just transpired that bad feelings have come from both sides of the issues. I just want to apologize for my part in it.
fatcat, your "heard" was in the right place! No need to apologize! nm
xx
I apologize if this sounds unkind, but it seems kind of cheesy to post sm

how great your company is and solicit referrals.  Perhaps you mean well -- I will certainly give you the benefit of the doubt.  But in my 30+ years of transcription, I have rarely found that it pans out to refer someone.  Granted, you say that the recruiter knows that you do not know these people and are just soliticiting the referral bucks, but it just sounds wrong for many reasons.  Heck, I have referred FRIENDS to companies I was happy with and either they hated the company and were mad at me (using the word mad loosely .. perhaps disappointed/whatever is a better choice) or they didn't measure up and the company was disappointed that I had referred such a person.

Regardless, I am happy that you are happy where you are working.  THAT, for all of us, is the bottom line it would seem.  I want to have a home where I can just work and be happy for the rest of my working days, which will probably be until I'm 100, so I guess I had better make sure I AM happy!

Good luck to all of us.

You are wrong! Here is the ad. I got it too. There are no words spelled wrong and the caps are pa
This is pasted from the bottom of the email blast.

Why are you trying to stir up trouble? Keystrokes does not send ANYTHING offshore.

Here is the email blast from ILHIMA. The KS logo is at the top but does not paste here:

I didn't say I didn't care, I just don't understand
why the sudden outrage over HL offshoring.
She didn't say they didn't offshore at all s/m
What she did say is that if the work needs to be done here, it stays here (paraphrased a bit, I think).

That is not lying and saying that they don't offshore work, as was stated by another poster above, but saying that if the client wants the work to stay in the US, they will keep it here. Sheesh.
She didn't say she didn't have a family. A family isn't just kids. sm

She also said she didn't have kids. Why do you think you're so much better  BECAUSE you have kids?  I am so sick of that attitude.  I don't have kids, never wanted them, but have been discriminated against in jobs because of it.  Everyone figured since I had no kids I could work all the time.  I said NO!  Just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I don't have a life or that my life is not important.

BTW I work part time too.

SO WRONG

You are so wrong in your assumption!  Although she is not with us anymore, the records need to be set straight.  Shannon has over 10 years of medical transcription experience and typed on every account we have at MDI.  You may have thought she didn't transcribe but that was because she was too busy typing on other accounts and doing the job she was hired to do which was to manage ALL of the accounts.  So before you begin to drag Shannon into the line of fire, please do your research.  She was hired to do a job which she did very well and she will be sorely missed.

Wrong, just someone who has to SM
work with people like you and is really tired of listening to the persecution complex.  I'll bet you have the same problems with the job you have now, right?
Wrong again
Actually, it's y'all - for you all.

Ya'll is for you will.

The contraction divides the words.
WRONG!
Before you start cutting people down, why don't you do a little bit of research on your own? Flossie is not QA DIRECTOR. BS is QA Director. Flossie is QA MANAGER. There IS a difference. And she's a DAMN GOOD ONE at that!!!!
Wrong !!!
She is out of town.
Man, you are WAY out there -- WRONG.
If you're working for MQ, you're getting up to $50 a month DSL reimbursement, not $30.

YOU pay to update your computer??? How is that?

You'd be paying your electricity anyway, unless you live so frugally from the stoneage that you don't require electricity. If you're an SE, you can claim part of that on your tax filing -- if you have a designated room for an office. As well, you can claim any rental fees for equipment -- if you're an SE.

It's your job to make sure what you are typing is correct. Asking to be paid for researching what you are responsible for is as idiotic as saying you should be paid to run spellcheck. Geez.

Virtually every part of the demographic screen is filled in and they provide all the search tools for that. On occasion you MIGHT have to type a patient's name in. Get over your bad self.

If you want to be paid for actual time you spend regardless of how productive it is in lines, then you need a job with an hourly pay instead of production. That simply isn't how it is done. You don't like it? Get an hourly job. Don't like that? Get into a different line of work.
That is where you are wrong...
There are a lot of MTs employed at OSi, so where does this "me along with everyone else" come in to place.  Oh, let me guess...you and all the other smart people?  lol!  too funny
Are you ever wrong about anything?

Opinions are always welcome...if they are not shoved down our throats.  You make me choke.

What is wrong with you?
You obviously do not work for MQ and are very rude.
You are wrong
Nothing is paid for if you work out of Amherst MQ other than production time and PTO time. I was directly told that. No exceptions!
You are wrong.
I work for Diskriter and THEY DO pay for downtime.  They have been more than fair with my pay.  Do not post things that are not true, you are WRONG.
Wrong

I have worked as an Editor for a US company. I am not the owner of a MT company. I did an excellent job there and left because I chose to leave for a better opportunity. The US company where I worked had MT's call in sick daily, yet the HR person was constantly receiving emails from them about the possibility of a raise. They complained about not having enough work, yet when they were offered the opportunity to work on another account, they refused. I know that there are many quality US MT's who care about the level of quality of the work they produce. Yet there are many who are lazy and do not care about the quality of their work who constantly call in with excuses about why they can't work their shift. And US MT's (many  of them) are constant job hoppers. MTSO's have a responsibility to provide their clients with a product. If they can't count on you to work your shift, you leave them with little choice.

My experience since working for a company who offshores has been totally opposite. These MT's are eager to work. They are meticulous about the quality of every report they produce. They are eager to improve their skills as an MT. They are all educated. It's amazing that they are able to produce work that rivals yours in quality and most often exceeds it when English is not their native language. You may not want to hear this, but the truth is the truth.

Don't take this the wrong way, but
I found more than 10 spelling and grammar errors in your post, and that didn't even take into consideration the punctuation errors. Granted, this isn't work so nitpicking isn't necessary. However, why should you make as much as the experienced transcriptionists who are doing the more difficult work without errors? I was at the second highest level at S. and was off QA in less than a week. I did ESL all day long and had three different accounts to learn in less than three weeks. I consistently produce 250 lines per hour on one of my accounts without an expander, 350-400 with the expander.

You tell us how fast and accurate you are, but you're not seeing the whole picture. You can either take on a more difficult account to get a higher line rate or start using an expander. Honestly, I wouldn't take on the more difficult account if it was my choice. You're better off typing faster and using the Expander on an easier account to make more money. Don't they offer an incentive plan for lines produced, too?
My bad. I was wrong.
nm
Wrong, wrong, and very wrong.
All three of the first points are incorrect, won't even go into the rest because they're subjective. Please contact a recruiter for accurate information.
Don't get me wrong...they are very...
nice people.  Unfortunately neither the owner nor office people have any MT experience, and all MTs are expected to not need QA.  For a newibe that can make it very difficult.  Without feedback it's impossible to know if you make an error, and you'll never know what your blanks were.  That makes it very difficult to improve when there are never answers . . .
I could be wrong, but
somewhere sometime I read they outsource work to India or they are an Indian company fronting in the US.   I can't seem to find that info right now.
