guess again, i'm inhouse and my sup would rather send out work to the agency

Posted By: to meet 24 hr TAT and have no work left for the ac on 2006-04-11
In Reply to: A majority of at-home MT is overflow work with in-house getting the bulk of the work. If they clean - it all up, nothing's left. nm

yep, to meet the TAT she will send it out, even if it means no work for the real hospital employees.

I used to work for a home healthcare agency and we got
one weeks pay for every year we worked there.   They were a non-profit agency and so to get rid of any profits made during the year we got bonuses.
They did send the reports back to me. I guess I figured they
knew what I was going through and would understand that it would get better. They tell me that the account requested me off. I find that hard to believe as I have never heard of such a thing in 15 years of MT.
Perhaps you need to work inhouse somewhere sm

there is communication and lots of it, or quite possibly, none at all. Like when the mangager closes the door to avoid avoid the staff, or doesn't return your voice mails or, better yet, takes a 3 week vacation just when the staff's tempers are burning hot over one issue or another. How about this scenario? You go in to talk with her about an issue you have and the next thing you know, it's all over the office and you are the one at fault? Or, how is this for communication (*&()^&^%&&$-get my drift? My manager was like that with 1/2 of her office staff. Quite a witch-which is why I left.  She is still there turning over MTs left and right because of her communication policy. TT is not like that in my books. TT responds to my emails nearly every time. They don't respond to my calls because I never feel the need to call.

Yes I did. I thought it was an oversight on their part to not send cards, guess not.

Does anyone using these boards work inhouse? - sm

And if so, where did you search for the job?   I've noticed that on the job boards here, it's not only all national companies, but also pretty much the same ones, too.  And of course the pay scale is the same old crumbs, as well.  Is there any one place that hospitals and clinics go to recruit for experienced MTs, or do you just have to slog through the job-lists on each separate institution's website?  There are a few where I'd post my resume tonight if I could, just so they could have it on file, but frequently you can't do that unless they're actively recruiting.  Anyway, for me 2008 is hopefully going to mean finding gainful employment again, and any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone here work inhouse at Stanford University? - sm

Or know someone who does?  If so, any comments, pro or con, about working there?  I'm moving to that area soon, and was wondering if they're hiring.

When I worked inhouse, we used Chartscript, now that I work from home for a different company, we

use Docuscribe.  In my experience, my line counts were much higher with Chartscript, but I think any program can be told to count lines a certain way, such as weighted lines with Chartscript for difficult dictators, which made your line count higher.

Con: Overflow work is cherry-picked from the git-go by the account's inhouse MTs. nm

The hospital I work has no intention of outsourcing...physicians and administrators want inhouse tra
and Medquist hasn't bothered us at all. Our reps are still the same personable guys they have always been.
Yes they do send work overseas and do not hide this fact. There is plenty of work and they do pay
well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.
There is NO work at Transtech. Maybe they just choose special people to send work to
df
Try your state agency....
or better yet, the state where YOUR company resides. They should be able to answer your questions. Anything over 40 hours, by law, is tme and a half, not up to them.
MT Employment Agency?
I was wondering if anyone knows of such a company as a temporary MT employment agency. For example, you could specify how long you'd like your assignment to last, i.e., 3 weeks (or 6 weeks or 4 months or whatever), they'd match you up with a temporary job, and then at the end of that time you could choose to stay on if needed/wanted or have time off until the next prospective job comes along that fits your needs. Maybe I'm just dreaming! They do have employment agencies for nurses that work like this...why not MTs?!
So if I'm an RN that works for an agency SM
and I'm working at a hospital that asks that their nurses reuse latex gloves to save on costs, I should oblige because it's the way the client wants it done?
looks like an employment agency - sm
click one link and it looks like a resume bank, click the other link and you get an agency.

RE:Ever get a job w/an on-line placement agency? They all seem to be in-
In-house is where I would like to be. Can you provide the web address for the placement agency/agencies, so I may take a look. Are there multiple listings across the US or is just for one geograhical location?
if they send work to someone who
offshores then quite simply they offshore
I worked briefly for a temp agency.
They actually sent me out on a hospital job where I was paid hourly so that is the only experience I have. It was not production based or anything. They just needed some extra help getting caught up. It was mostly H&Ps and operative notes. The hourly rate was not bad...really not that much less than what I was making at home and they ended up offering me a full-time job as an employee, but I wanted to stay home work because of kids..
Many years ago I paid an employment agency a fee (sm)
for what seemed like a great job (non-MT). Two of us were hired for a job that didn't have enough work for even one person! In the meantime, I was making payments to the employment agency each paycheck. The two of us were working hard and doing well (we thought!)

The week before my last payment was due to the employment agency, out of the blue the manager began to find fault with every little thing we did, even if it was what she told us to do the day before.

I got suspicious, and on a day she was absent, found her file cabinet unlocked and took a look through her employee file. (Don't even bother to lecture me - I KNOW it was wrong, but I did it anyway.)

What I found was VERY interesting: It turns out that every few months, this company hired 2 people from this agency. They would keep them only until that employee had made their last payment to the agency, then let them go and hire 2 more. Also, our manager was very good friends with the owner of the employment agency!

Sure enough, a few days after my co-worker & I made our last payment to the agency, we were let go. Talk about a scam! And of course, back then I was too young & naiive to know I had a legal recourse.

LESSON LEARNED: Never, ever, pay anything for a job. Your skill is the asset, and you are selling it to the employer for your wage. (So don't sell yourself cheaply!)
I work there, but cannot send an email.
How can I help you
All I know is that they send work overseas. nm
x
I just called them. They are in NY but send 100% of the work
out of the country. No thank you.
does not send work offshore
MedScript Services in Florida
Does OSI send work offshore?

If so I won't bother.  TIA

Who is LK -- know TT did send some work to another service, but

but please let me know what you are saying because we TT'ers are very interested in what you are saying to us all -- I just know there is something very wrong with my line count.  I have been doing this too long to not know how many lines I can get.  I cannot put my finger on the problem -- I just know it does fall in my lap.

This is really disturbing to me.

They do not send work to Focus...sm
or get work from Focus. Please get your facts straight before making up stuff on these boards. If you think you can prove otherwise send me your information.
She's right TT does NOT send work offshore.
Never have and never will.  The day they do is the day I quit because I never have worked for a company that offshored and I never will.
OSI does send offshore work
nm
do they send escription work to

Yes they do send work to India

MDI does NOT send work overseas.

Do they send work offshore?
Just wondering.
even if they send work overseas...
Please help me find a company to work for that has WORK and pays on time. That is all I ask at this point.
You send the work in using their program, yes. I never ran out of work sm

but I was just working part-time, and this was about a year ago, so things could have changed.  Isabelle and everyone seem so caring, it is hard to believe that they would consistently have MTs without work, but that seems to be a curse of the industry lately.

Good luck to you!

I wonder why they don't send a lot or all of their work to India? That's where a lot of work&
nm
Ditto! Also add that they ignore e-mails you send and send endless IMs!
nm
Yes that is the company MQ uses to send work to India.

Batch receive/send work?
Is there any company out there where you can download work in batches and send back transcribed reports in batches?  I can only get dialup and it is too slow to do 1-3 jobs at a time.  30+ years experience, big 4 and Radiology, Medical and Radiation Oncology.  I am currently employed in hospital radiology department but want to go back home.  Hate this winter driving!!!
Which nationals do not send work out of the country?

Which nationals do not send work out of the country? I need to find another job.

Does anybody work for SmartMed/TSI? When do they send out pay checks? TIA. nm

Keystrokes is and will not send work out of the country. sm
The owners feel strongly about that.
Webmedx does NOT send work to India.
.
They don't send work to anyone. Period. You can take that to the bank.
x
Transcend most certainly does send work to India.
And they are proud to have these partners
I really wonder how much cheaper it is to send work overseas. When you
think about it, IC here gets about 4 cpl for VR and about 8 or 9 for straight typing.  Overseas they have to go through a middle man or whoever owns the services and you cant tell me they arent getting a decent cut of the cpl and paying 3 cpl or so to their people.  Just my thoughts.  I bet the cost is very close anymore to what we earn.  I see Delta is bringing its reservation call service back here from India because of all the complaints from US customers. I would expect it is the benefits here for employees that causes a problem costwise for MTs.
They send our American work to the Philippines,
Philippines you would not be allowed to work.  Americans cannot get jobs in the Philippines because they are saving them all for the Filipinos - don't know if we'd want them anyway but that is beside the point.  Doesn't seem fair, does it, that they can take our work away from us and we get nothing in return.
Does Transtech send work to India? nm
nm
Not hiring because they send most their work to India

Wbx doesn't even send work offshore. nm
