They don't expect U to make lines during first 90 days
Hang in there, it will get better, it takes time.
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
rudeness

If that is how you justify uncalled for rudeness and makes you feel a bit better about yourself whatever....

rudeness
Thank you so much...your post was a breath of fresh air. Much of humanity has gone down the toilet, I'm afraid.
rudeness is really unnecessary, no? nm
x
unnecessary rudeness
Better yet, don't post such ugly comments to someone who is only asking a question in order to look out for herself.
Rudeness/Diskriter
Most everyone I have worked with is very polite and caring, other than one main person, who I will not mention the name of.  She is rude, uncaring, and not suited for her job.
Disregard my rudeness ...
Sorry, that was rude and I don't know how to delete my post.  My apologies, seriously!
The rudeness on this board is why I won't work in-house. sm

In all the professions I have been in, I cannot believe how rude, condescending, and judgmental MTs are.  These boards are for helping each other to make wise career choices and sharing our input, not to go around being the spelling and grammar police and making people feel like they don't know what they are doing.  I am well respected in my job, have 100% QA ratings and don't belittle other people who make their errors here.  I think posters here need to spend less time being rude and more time thinking of how we can all help fellow MTs looking for advice.

Is this rudeness really necessary? Just skip the post if you don't like it JEEZ.
Nasty.
Bait and switch and rudeness puts them at the bottom of mine. nm

Thank you to MT stars
I started with OSi last year then my account coordinator got fired along with a man in technical support. The account has done nothing but flounder since then without a leader. I was fortunately able to find another job thanks to this board. Thank you.
What do the stars mean?
Thank you for posting this list.
Before I go to bed I check MT Stars
Wow. I can really appreciate all of your questions, as I am a transcriptionist.

I am the general manager of MDI and former co-owner of the company.

I am so glad you work for us and honestly, just give me a call tomorrow and I will answer all of your questions.

We are very stable, have been in business since 1972.

Some of our platforms are harder than others, but we do give 40 hours training pay @ $12.00 an hour.

Line counts are usually great. Some are tougher than others, but we try to compensate by paying more.

Dictators - some good, some bad. This is the way it always goes.

WE PAY EVERY TWO WEEKS. We have not missed a payroll since I opened the doors to MDI.

I think our changes are for the better.

We are definitely HERE TO STAY.

Pleae give me a call at the office tomorrow or e-mail me at Liz@medicaldictation.com. I really try not to let my employees down.

Thanks a lot for working for us.

Liz

Try searching MT Stars itself
Instead of Google, try the search for this site. Type in the name of the company and it should bring up information about them. I hope this is what you mean.
MT Stars search...
I haven't looked for it the last few days, but about that same time I posted something and got a response stating MTSOs talked to each other and I shouldn't be talking about the company you are leaving No one but the company I was resigning from knew I was leaving my current employee and I had not pubically discussed the name of my current or prospective employer. I had not disclosed my employment status pubically anywhere on any forum, so how did someone know to say that to me?
re: MT Stars post
Thank you for responding to my post. I would love to which account so I can be on guard (or happy) from the beginning. I am a bit of a workaholic, but I don't want anyone to take advantage of that.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Beth
MT Stars is a board
The only thing about a private board is we don't have to hog a public board.
We can't discuss it on MT Stars
NM
Saw an old post of yours on MT Stars
and it reminded me of how you always seemed to have some great thoughts on the state of the MT business these days. Are you no longer posting there? If not, it's too bad.

Anyway, I wanted to get your permission to quote one of your posts verbatim for an article I'm writing. If you're interested, I'll let you know the details.

To help with the anonymity barrier, I can tell you that I'm a regular old MT grunt currently working for Keystrokes, but that has nothing to do with my writing.

Thanks,
Nancy
Search this board and MT Stars
some posts about them not long ago.  Don't remember it being good, but then don't remember much any more.
Do I have this right? MT Stars now supports offshoring?
In reading the revised front page, it appears that, even though staunchly against offshoring, MT Stars now promotes advertising of offshoring companies?  I just want to be clear on this.
If you Google MT Stars.com on this pg with Axolotl in there
s
So why not change the policy for the All Stars?
OSI All Stars is a joke if there ever was one. Why not demand the same qualifications in order for them to receive this honor?
I wish I had paid attention to MT Stars
I read all the complaints about OSi on here and accepted a job with them anyway which was the biggest mistake of my life.  Then after I was hired they came up with the weird holiday policy.  I will be eligible for the holiday pay because I am past 6 months but since none of those days are on my days off I have to work every single one of them and if we run out of work I won't get paid extra - - - - - but I definitely have my applications in elsewhere so I hope I will be gone in a few weeks.  I truly truly hate this company and never look forward to starting my shift.  And the posts on MT Stars were right about the Q dept.  Everybody says something different and their emails are full of errors including the manager's emails.  I don't know how they hire some of those people.  This is a big mistake.  Don't even think about applying for this company.  All the bad things you read on MT Stars are true and I really wish I had paid attention to them.  Also I keep getting put off about my hire bonus so that is a bait and switch tactic too.  They don't intend to pay it.  I can see clearly now and I am P*****   that I did not pay attention because I consider myself warned a long time ago.
I applied with them before checking with MT Stars...

but their offer was so low-ball I declined, after taking their rather rigorous and pain-in-the-neck test.  Then I remembered this board and started reading... and thought phew, I dodged THAT bullet!

I have one. I am professional Stars poster.

I think MT Stars is an excellent way to check out - sm
a prospective employer. In most cases, it's the only communication we at-home MTs have with each other. With the ability to read and assess for ourselves the pros and cons of MTSOs discussed honestly and openly here, we have a better chance of finding the right company.
Never heard of stars and apples
I believe there is a threat to lower pay, although I've never had low scores to find out. I have never heard of stars and apples. I've been around over 7 years and QA has always been about numbers.
pg 4, company board, here on stars

At least one person got fired, supposedly.

But I thought MT Stars does not give that info out- how could they get it?
nm
Use the Google search bar towards the top of the MT Stars site
Make sure that -mt stars- has a dot beside it. Type in the company name and do a search.
Tons of stuff in the archives. Use the MT Stars
search
I'm grateful for MT Stars but wonder if staff or mgmnt
nm
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
Well since MT stars is global you will see Spheris, Medquist, Diskriter, etc. posts sm
so if your going to be unemployed because of offshoring that is to bad. The majority always think of India when it comes to offshore but the Philippines, Australia, Europe, etc. also transcribes.
Why Google web? Compile a Stars company-specific list.
Immediately above the first post about 'Dictation 9 cents' whatever, and next to the 'Post New Message' button is a Search box. Use that one and get what you are looking at - only company specific. Why go outside the source? this is much easier.
Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm
s
Correction - TH has 5 PTO days 1st year/10 days 2nd yr

Axolotl within 30 days. Transolutions in 60 days. NM

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.
nm
I expect I and a lot of others will be also saying bye bye.
:
they can expect all they want,
but you do not have to comply. When they send out their pleading "we need all the team helping on this" move past it. You cannot be productive or happy working 7 days a week for too long. White collar sweatshop is only there if we allow it.
I just have to say this: What do you expect?
A company comes underfire in a public forum by what may well be just 1 employee who didn't make it. There could be many reasons why.

Now, the company cannot name employees but the employee can name employers?

So, why wouldn't you expect an owner to come out swinging? This original post to the thread has nothing wrong in it. I saw the posts that were removed and they should have been.

But you know what? They were not any worse, different, or shocking than the trash that is posted here daily.

While some know how to post appropriately - complain in an appropriate manner still showing some integrity - most do not.

I don't blame her for at least addressing the issue. If MT's don't like employers coming on here defending themselves, perhaps they should consider the ridiculous trash they themselves are handing out.

This is a 2-way street, people.

Don't expect that to last
nm
Expect nothing and you will never be let down (sm)
Some of us got absolutely nothing from our company but personally, I'm just thankful to have a job in this messed up world we live in.
You cannot expect (sm)
to receive more than 7 cpl if you only graduated from an MT school 1 year ago.  You are still considered a newbie.  Actually, some would say you are lucky to have found a job at all, especially a job that pays 7 CPL.  My advice:  Stick with your current job for 2 or 3 years; try to work on as many different accounts possible, learn as many different report types possible; then, after 2 or 3 years, search for a company who will pay you a higher rate.  I know it is hard to make it on what you are being paid, but we have all been there; it comes with the territory.
