they are at anymore are they? They want Americans to come to Saudi Arabia?

Don't know if you remember this but back in the 80s and 90s, many MTs use to go to Saudi Arabia for a contracted amount of time to work as MTs. The draw for many MTs was the fact taht they money was ridiculously high, food and housing was free and MTs went over there to make the big bucks in a short time. Kind of like American civilian workers who go to Iraq to work contract jobs.

I know several MTs that went over there and for women the conditions were outrageous. you have to go by their laws.......you can imagine. I wonder if this is like that OR if this is something else and they actually expect Americans to come over there and work?

I don't even know why that website allows these companies to post their work ads. Ridiculous. Its like a big slap in the face.

Do you think all the headers and footers aren't getting counted? Lots of places aren't giving

They are probably trying to hide again because they

have a horrendous reputation.  They have moved from one state to another, hid behind the software company, and now they have changed their name it seems.  The claim to be Christian, but their actions say otherwise.

I would avoid them at all costs.

You should never have to pay up front for equipment/software to work for a company.  They may require you to have the equipment, but they should not require you to buy it from them and if they offer to sell it they should to it on a payroll deduction.

Nothing to hide - sm
Maybe personal files, pictures...  I really don't think that anyone would choose to have someone have total access to their PC at anytime.  Just what I think.
They all have something to hide. SM

Having a forum where they can suposedly answer questions is useless.  Recruiters are not the appropriate people to find out about what it's like to work somewhere.  They are paid to put a spin on every potentially negative thing - not to mention most of them have never typed a report.  Companies also change recruiters like they change underwear, so getting an answer one day from one person means nothing when you are dealing with someone else.

The company owners are not appropriate because if you dared to ask about something that doesn't measure up, they tend to get very huffy and start demanding that posts be deleted.

really who cares if you have nothing to hide?
now if they are delving into your personal life then thats another story, thats just plain nosey. But a criminal background check is not a bad idea.
proveros cant hide
This is hilarious. I am sure shortly Syd or Sheri at Proveros will whine to take these posts down. Because it is defamatory. LOL But you can run but you cant hide. Proveros is a deplorable company to work for for FREE.. Bottom line over and over and over again.. Pay is LATE or NON existent. Whine away girls at Proveros. We all know the deal.
When a company is secretive about who they are, they are trying to hide something.
I won't respond to someone that does not say who they are because you have no clue whether or not they are even legitimate.
DITTO They used to hide it & fired former QA mgr
If they had NOTHING to hide she should have NEVER BEEN FIRED!! She was a super QA manager. When she got fired a mass exit of MT followed.

Be glad you did not go to work for OSI. You are much better off anywhere else.
Oh that's pathetic...trying to hide their names because they don't pay them MTs. These
companies need to have their names out there. I don't care what their excuse is...if a MT works for you, no matter how long or circumstances, pay them!!! They need to be turned in. I find it disgusting to NOT pay your employees and keep trying to recruit more suckers. Shame on them.
Because anonymity is a cloak to hide behind
No way would anyone speak to another person they way they do here. Most people have self-control, but here, that is thrown to the wind.

I didn't know people could be so mean to each other until I started reading on this board!
No way...TROLLS hide under bridges
And those things are annoying and smell bad.

*smile*
I wasn't aware that Medware was trying to hide their
involvement in India with Medware India. This is actually a very good program, just like the one Transcription Relief Services has going on.

Neither of these companies sneak around and hide the fact that they offshore and both companies still actively hire US MTs and editors.

I am very happy with my editing job at Medware and having the opportunity to work with some really great professionals in this industry.

If you would rather work for a company who offshores and then lies to their employees and clients about it, then go for it. To me that is a very unstable situation to be in.

Sending work offshore is a fact of life, the way a company goes about it is what makes the difference.
Spheris does not hide the fact it off shores. It was a
news letter.
Personally, I think that is awesome. They're not trying hide anything from anybody. I think tha
would be a company worth checking into.
If transcend has so much to hide and has to treat everyone with threats, they stay away.
That is a big red flag in everyone's face.  From what I read, they are going downhill fast with lots of disgruntled employees anyway, so I am sure they will all leave the company "at will" when they find new jobs.
If you're not afraid to hide, then tell us who you are so we DON'T apply to your company!!!!

AND, if you don't NEED us for anything, then why are you HERE!!  Go away!

Yes they do send work overseas and do not hide this fact. There is plenty of work and they do pay
well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.
You aren't the only one, believe me. NM

Aren't they the ones who are
supposedly looking into buying Heartland?
aren't they all going to be
under regional supervisors within a year??? If you can get yourself under the northeast regional supervisor, do it. She's great.
Oh MY aren't you a gas
Why would you care. Bitter? I got a great job by not being hired by them with innumerable benefits and assigned to a nice a/c with great potential.

Don't get my way - do you mean expecting to be paid on time is being bitter and spoiled? What planet do you come from? LOL

And yes SD is said - it's not my fault they auto cap it - boy do you have issues!!!! sd is standard shorthand for said my friend. can't imagine even noticing something like that.
Uh, no. They aren't doing that

The letter I received a few months ago when I cancelled my membership said something quite different.  It had nothing to do with keeping the jobs US based.  It was all about quality healthcare documentation which is important; don't get me wrong there.  However, there was NOTHING in there stating anything about keeping this work here at all.  Instead it was all about the global marketplace and a cop-out.

I personally feel that the bulk of the healthcare industry knows cheaper doesn't necessarily mean better or even close to what is expected.  I don't think all of the jobs are going to disappear.

I have written, called and probably annoyed my senator and any other government official in my state about outsourcing private healthcare information.  India, for example, does not have stringent laws about private information like we do.

We do have a personal responsibility though.  I have brought this up on other boards, but we need to ask our healthcare providers if their back office is handled here.  If not, choose another provider if possible.  Of course avoiding purchase of everything that comes from somewhere else is virtually impossible, but there are lots of other things.  This may also sound mean, but if I get on the phone with customer service somewhere and realize the person I am speaking with is offshore, I have my call transferred.  Nothing against the person, but I am not discussing my personal account information with someone who is not 100% required by law to protect that information.  Period.  If enough people take the intiative (not saying in this particular way), the gov't and other organizations won't have a choice but to listen.

Outsourcing globally is not the trend right now.  I really think pulling together can stop it from becoming so.

Aren't they like about $40,000 ???
My car's OLD - only kind I can afford.
And just because you aren't a fan sm
doesn't mean it is a bad company for everyone.
Aren't we all?

Now I know you aren't exp'd - there is SM
no earthy reason to BUY A PDR to look up drugs.  Caught again.
They aren't even in the US - ya think?? *-D) nm

You REALLY ARE NEW aren't you?

Snort...  How naive.

Look, the really sad thing is that work has really picked up at TT and if whomever the fool is that decided to file this lawsuit had just waited a bit, things on MT Stars would have died down.  Have you seen any negative postings about TT recently?  No, because there is WORK!!

If you let your anger rule your head, you will show yourself for the fool that you are.

Sad, truly sad....

Obviously, you aren't one of them...
If you had the slightest legal knowledge, you would know that any person can file a lawsuit against anyone -- the claims don't have to be true. Again, enjoy your Law 101 class.
If you aren't happy
why don't you leave?  You seem to know so much, so you must work for OSi.  You musn't be able to get another job elsewhere.
If you aren't using an expander just think how
many more lines you could produce with an Expander and then that would be like gettin a raise.
Why don't you just go back to MQ, they aren't that bad
I was full-time with them and quit for reasons not related to all the new changes, but after thinking it over, I decided to keep some part-time hours because I enjoy the work.

A little snippy aren't we?
nm
No they aren't. They are looking for editors

Is there a little emoticon for putting a finger down one's throat and retching?

Maybe we aren't talking
not sure what kind of rate could result in $4.25/1000 words...but I'm doing much better than that...so far.
I have worked for TRS and while they aren't the
worst company out there, I certainly would never recommend them.  Any time people can't figure out how much their making, it isn't an ideal situation.  The Trinidad issue and how it was handled is another strike against them.
They aren't outsourcing. nm
nm
Wow, aren't we cynical!
I am working for TT because a couple of TT employees took the time to answer my questions about the company and it sounded like it might be the place for me. I am very glad they were so helpful, because now I work there and I'm very happy. I haven't found any drawbacks to working there. If the companies you have chosen to work for have not turned out well, I'm sorry, but don't assume they are all the same. It is absolutely not fair to try to run down a company's name when you admit you never worked there. I do work there, and the company hasn't asked me to advertise for them. I can't believe you would judge people who go out of their way to try to help other MTs find a good company.
You aren't getting paid? nm

You aren't missing much with sm
Transhealth. Chartmatrix stinks, doesn't integrate well with Word at all (cannot use autocorrect), crashes alot, and hard dictators. Their test dictators are actual doctors on their system. Management and office staff turn over quite frequently. Transolutions last I knew started out at 6 cents a line. You may want to go IC if you don't need the benefits.
Aren't you clever...
I didn't call *myself* 'garbage' - and you know it, but I guess going for the cheap shot is the best you can do?

Your experience may have been wonderful; mine was the worst. The person who originally asked about the company needs to hear both negative and positive feedback.
True, but most of them are, aren't they? They are for me.
nm
Apparently you aren't going to let this go!
Tricky: I asked a while back how far off the line counts are in your mind - 2% 1% 10%?

If its a small discrepancy you might consider dropping it, if its a lot you could find a different job if management can't explain it to your satisfaction.

That said, I'm totally in your corner if there is serious discrepancy here, but so far you have not elaborated how much you think the counts are off.

Aren't we all. Why do you think someone should just hand

My my aren't we judgemental

Well we aren't staying
a very large portion of the MQ staff is leaving, the majority of which as I can guestimate have been with MQ for many, many years, made them what they are. I myself have 12 years in with MQ and am done in 3 weeks.  Don't get snotty with us...
Aren't they out of Texas

You aren't going w/ Amphion?
Or are you a different Rainbow
When MTs aren't working
1. Burnout. It's quite common in this field, due to the intensity of the job. Anyone with any real experience in this field knows this and takes precautions to keep it from happening. Intelligent employers make sure it doesn't happen, recognize it when they see it and work the MT through it. If not, good MTs are lost. Many people supervising MT now are not MTs and are completely ignorant of the job.
2. Getting mostly crap work or unfamiliar work on an ongoing basis. If bombed with crap work without compensation for known crap work, MTs get the above burnout, pound their brains out for nothing then give up.
3. We are people, not nameless machines. Lack of adequate rest or reasonable time off without penalty is self-defeating. MTs that give up their entire lives for their jobs and then make less than 30K for it eventually slow down. No incentive to keep going. After two years without a mammogram, dental appointment, a filthy house and my family having to make appointments with me to see me, I found myself in a vicious cycle that was not worth it. These personal things have to be done and eventually people will do them when they get fed up with self-neglect.

And that is why some people aren't working.

why aren't you working?????
too busy reading everyone's posts?????
