Think you still have to go to NJ to train. Was offered a very low per-page rate several years ago.

I left MQ after years and went with a highly rate company on this board (sm)
my account has dried up and I am constantly out of work now...same with backup account.  I like the company I'm with and don't want to leave but I HAVE to have a steady account.  I realize there are slow times of the year but on this account they have overhired and now it's low a lot of the time.
Great company with good rate offer
nice people in the management too.
wow, from a company I heard a lot of good from..sm
that's pretty junk. Sorry to hear that.
Worked out to a pretty good hourly rate, just not the right company for me. nm

I am looking for a company where I can work as an IC for good lph rate part-time...
I am needing to supplement my income, as I am the sole provider for my family due to hubby recovering from illness.  I would like to find a good company with good pay (9-11 cpl), part-time employee status or IC, hopefully providing all necessary equipment.  I have been searching the archives all day and have not come up with any other than Webmedx, but it sounds as if I would be doing mostly ESL to make the higher lph.  I could possibly come up with the PC if I needed to.  I have 8 years acute care experience.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  If you don't feel comfortable posting, I have included my e-mail address.  Thanks much in advance for all your help
Anyone heard of the transcription company Medwest? Good or bad?
Any input would be appreciated.
I miss YOG also! Good company, great line rate, and awesome account.

Good company for me for last 2 years.
Lots of work. Good pay rate. Management/team leads are accessible. Good feedback. Get paid on time.
I've been there for 3 years - yes, good company
xx
I've been there a few years. I think it's a good company.
Although I feel that ALL MT pay is far too low, Acusis pays better than most. Several accounts are teaching hospitals, some regular hospitals, and some clinics. Most of the time they have plenty of work, except right after the Holidays.

I find the management to be VERY nice to work with - a welcome change from my old situation, which was horrible. Excellent techs, too. The SoftScript platform they use works well. Sound quality is good. If you email a supervisor or other person there, I've found they respond in a timely manner.

The pay varies based on the account; more for harder ones, less for easy ones. They ask for feedback from MTs, and are appreciative to get it.

Anyway, judging by what I read on this board about other companies, I think one reason you don't hear much about Acusis is that most people that work for them are happy with them.
You can do a good job and despise the company. I was at MQ for 10 years.
I eventually deservedly despised them, but I did a great job. Otherwise, I would have heard about it. I'm at the Web now, and I agree with those that say they are getting to be just like MQ before MQ imploded and was sold. I don't despise Webmedx, but I don't love them, either. I don't think you can completely trust any of the nationals.
I have worked there for a few years now. Not a lousy company but a very good one. sm
Perhaps you did not meet their standards or perhaps they did not meet yours, but there is no reason for you to be on here bashing those of us that love working for KS. If you have specifics, please share. I will:

Good pay, on time every time.

Good account with plenty of work.

Good benefits.

Managers that are human and know that the employees are too.

Owners who care about the company and employees. They are involved but less and less with employees as they grow. Instead, they have hired managers that are great so that they can concentrate on sales and customers.

Growing company with no lost accounts, which is more than most can say.

Opportunity for advancement.

IT helpful and caring, especially since the major change in that area a few months ago.

I love my job and I'm not in Illinois either; I'm in Florida.
I'm at Webmedx after 10+ years at MQ. Good company. Plenty of work. SM
Pay is direct deposit and on time. You have a 12-hour window and 35 hours is considered full-time. I cleared QA review in less than a day, and they leave me alone to do my job. Benefits are affordable. I don't need the insurance, but I understand it's pretty good. Don't get much PTO the 1st year, 3 days. If you know you will need to be off ANY time in the first 6 months or so, tell the recruiter. Line rate is fair and you can negotiate. They have a bonus/incentive plan that allows you to earn good money. Seems like no place is great these days, but they are probably as good as it gets. Feel free to E-mail me if I can help you out.
I was offered a very large rate of pay, so you

The pay they offered used to be a very low per-page rate. nm
s
This is outrageous for VR to be offered at this rate
I love VR but it takes a lot of time, energy and the wisdom to get it right. Why in the world would a company stoop this low? At 4 cents a line, I have to go as fast as I can for the hrs I work to make a decent salary. It is not easy, it is not a newbie thing and it definitely takes the knowledge to be able to do. It is not just words there. You have to know what fits just as if you were on a straight report. I might just send them an email asking are they for real. You could really not make a decent salary at 2.5 cents, even 3 is too low. Most platforms are, from what I read on this board, horrific and it would take more time with lot of people working on it more time to correct than would be worth it.
no, I was offered 60% of my line rate sm
which is quite a bit more than 4 cpl. That is what I thought too. Maybe experience has something to do with it? I don't know. That is what I was offered and I am just wondering about the company etc. Anything you can tell me would sure help.
I also thought the offered rate was too low and didn't accept it. nm
s
If they offered you a position, didn't they give you a pay rate?
nm
Always email first, ask lowest to highest rate offered.
I bet they offer prob. 7 cents if that.
I meant WebMedix. Sorry for the typo. Biggest does not
mean best, I agree!
I routinely email lowest-to-highest rate offered sm
and did in April. Rate only 8 cents, to low for me.
I was offered 10 cpl; after 5 years at MQ
at a MUCH lower rate, and NEVER an increase in 5 years, plus now they've also calculated the line counts to be much lower, I feel LUCKY to get 10 cpl!   I'm thrilled to death, jumping up and down for joy!  I too have almost 20 years of experience as a career MT.
You offered 6 cpl for someone with nearly 20 years
I wonder how much you charge your clients if you can only pay MTs 6 cpl and QA 1.5 cpl.

I would never insult someone with that many years of experience with an offer of 6 cpl. And yes, it is an insult. There are plenty of other MTSOs with consistent work where one can make a lot more than 6 cpl. Why would someone want to work for that? Probably they are new with no experience or they are clueless as to their own worth or they are NO GOOD.

It is highly unprofessional of you to come on here talking like this about former employees, good or bad. Very tacky, and it speaks volumes about your character.

I obviously turned down your offer of 6 cpl, but I'm really glad others have sites like this to come to where they can find out from other MTs what a place is like to work at. As someone else said, smart people can filter through the posts here and decide for themselves whether a company is a good fit or not. Former employees' rants and raves can be dismissed as disgruntled. However, your own rants are just pathetic. You just opened your mouth and proved to all that most of the prior posts are likely accurate. You should take Business 101.
8 cpl I was offered with 19 years of
x
I have 20 years and have never been offered
and if you're reliable you probably do, but if they give it to you with 10 years of experience, then they have to shell it out to everyone with 10 years or more, so doubt you'll get 10 cpl.  I've only been offered 9 at the most.  Good luck though...
And with 20+ years, you still get offered

It seems like the longer you are in the business, the less they offer.  Funny how that works.  I've never been offered more than 9 ever and that's for clinic which on a few occasions was really acute care they were trying to pass off as clinic.  All of this trickery goes along with the business.  If anyone is making 10 cpl, then they either have been with the company a long time OR they are being paid an incentive to go above and beyond a certain line quota.

Companies post their rate of pay, at least most of them, so there is no guess work.  For a while there I'd say about a year ago, most were actually putting in the ads - rate is not negotiable...  cracked me up!  Everything in this fine country is negotiable!

We are being offered that with 20+ years

Consider yourself lucky you're not at 6 cpl.

Offered 7.25 cpl for 30 years experience - sm
Your offer sounds like a good deal compared to mine, but neither is what we are worth.
TTS offered me 6.5 cpl with 20 years' experience
NM
I was offered 8 cpl with 19 years of experience.
I was going to give it a try, but I didn't want to purchase equipment for a job paying 8 cpl.  Sorry, but that's way low if you ask me.  I think it is a rather small company though.
I have many many years of experience and was offered....
7.5 cpl as employee or 9 cpl for IC. Seemed way too low to me, especially after I was told what the account was like. They seem nice, but nice doesn't pay the bills! Good luck to you!

20 years of experience and offered

I heard the rate is 7.5.....

I was offered 8 cpl with 12 years of experience. Did NOT accept the job!! nm
s
Two years ago I was offered .075 cpl. Horrible dictators!
x
I had applied but they offered 7 cpl for 14 years experience..I said NO...
That's about all I know. I cant remember what kind of work it was either, but I wouldnt do clinic or acute care for that low pay.
The wages offered to MTs with alot of years is (sm)
in addition to the adjectives you used, downright demeaning, and bordering on questioning one's self-worth. I'm really so sick over it because for the past 2 decades I have devoted my life to MTing; gave 100+% each and every day, kept up with the new drugs/terminology (on my own time). I even have gone so far beyond what is expect because of my love of MTing and medicne, that rather than read a good juicy romance novel at bedtime, I'd read one of the doc's I transcribed for leftover medical journals, just keep on top of the game. This was while working inhouse--- and all because I was properly compensated for my hard efforts. Working from home for an online,....that don't give a rats azz....all they want are the lines and 98.5% accuracy at all times. Period. That's just one of the problems with working from home -- the impersonalization that accompanies it. I'm headed back inhouse where I'm appreciated, have a blast with my coworkers, docs, nurses, tecs, and be paid what I am worthy of after doing this for over 1/4 century. No more penny checks for me. No more line counts. No QAing. AMEN.
I was offered 8 cpl w/years of experience. He wouldn't say if pay would go up if I didn't take
s
About 5 years ago was offered 10 cpl including spaces, 65 characters. sm
Don't know about now. That was doing all acute care, mainly op reports with full benefit package.

I declined and have my own accounts, but it was a good offer.

Good luck.
I was offered 8.25 cpl in the beginning of 2006. Turned it down. 13+ years in.
s
You had better believe it. Working 12 years in a huge university and now offered 8 cpl. nm
:
I have heard hourly rate is now lower in $12 to $15
per hour range. Lots of companies pay by line. Forget it with handling MTs - no win situation now matter how you deliver it. Truly the downside of the job.... a real bummer.
Over 14 years expierence and offered 7.75 cpl to start. I had to turn it down but the people were
very nice. I just couldn't take a pay cut like that.
Fifteen years experience here and also offered 8 cpl as a max at multiple companies. This biz is
going down hill fast. I remember making 10 cpl 10 years ago and that was cheap..Only profession I know that has gone down in wages rather than up. Very sad. If you offered 8 cpl..take it..
Had the same happen here, heard the same thing, good references and good ....sm
job record will get you better $$$ if you are willing to promote yourself, search like crazy, talk to everyone, etc., but I have never been paid a cent more for CMT, what a waste, and all the years I paid my dues to AAMT, what a joke, they did NOTHING to better our field, just took the money for better conventions, as far as I can see.
they offered me a position.....good or bad?
nm
Yes, I have heard of same for years, too.
I don't think that will ever happen either.  Its similar to systems being used now, EMR, etc.  I just don't think that all patient care will ever be able to be just a canned push button here and there program. I know those involved, as in AAMT, want that more than we can imagine, but I don't think it will work at all in the long run.  I still believe 100% that our industry will be around forever, and I also have a bit of hope that we may actually seen a lot of improvement in the future. We have to pull together, though, and make that change happen, somehow.  When I was younger and was transcribing as the kids were toddling around, I had no time for thought. Just work and keeping the kids alive! LOL. I also believe in this industry enough that my kids are MTs as well, and making wages nearly the same as mine! How's that for odd!  But now that I am older and wiser - Ha - I am willing and able to invest my time on work and trying to improve our industry.  I have yet to write to the Union folks.  But I am willing to get involved and take the time to try to help us. We all deserve it. I'm doing it for my kids, and if that's what it took me to get me mad, then so be it!!  Bring it on, CEOs. LOL.  I have to go now.  I have to start work in 10 minutes, and I need my coffee.
Offered pay for 6 months experience... any good?

I got offered a position to type some reports in a specialty I have been typing for 6 months.  I was offered 7cpl for 65 character line.  Does not pay for hard returns, tabs, empty lines, headers, footers are not paid.  Spaces between words are.

At my other position I was getting 6cpl including hard returns.

How do I figure out if this new offer is equal or better than what I already had?

Yes, I know neither are high paying.  I am new to the industry, only finished my course 7months ago.  BUT, this particular specialty is easy for me and I have very high marks with QA.

Any and all advise is welcome.  Thanks!

I have a good friend who was recently offered a job there - SM
She has 7 years of full-time experience, and they offered her 6 cents per line for acute care/basic 4! I couldn't believe it when she told me! Needless to say, she took a job somewhere else that paid much more than that!
