That's how I remember it. I originally learned to remove the up but often I think it sounds right when it really doesn't or that it doesn't when it really does. With my daughter in grade school I had to bone up on my grammar skills anyway so it was easy to add this kind of nmeumonic device to my arsenal :) I'm just glad that after 3 months of searching I was finally able to get a recruiter to tell me what section I was having trouble with..the BOS. Once I know the problem I can fix it! :)
