It's too easy to mistreat remote MTs. [2008-10-30]
They know they'll never have to face you up close and personal. You don't work on-site so you probably have no way of knowing what they're up to behind your back and cannot hold them accountable. The worst of them may see you as a mere tool to use or abuse to make themselves rich. As for the nasty e-mails, some places send them to everybody from time to time as a general threat in their never-ending campaign to depress wages/line rates. Don't take them personally.

Yes they can put them to work on easy stuff, such as clinic [2008-10-16]

nothing but repetative phrases, piece of cake. just be easy lines. [2008-10-11]
and tons of just use my normal templates. Ever think of that?

pretty easy to maneuver [2008-09-18]
It comes with lots of symbols which can be disengaged because I think they are distracting. I mainly just use CTRLplus thearrow keys to maneuver through the report. If you have a good dictator, you are basically just reading the report. If you have abad one, there are more corrections to be made then. All in all,it is as easy to get through as the DocQScribe ASRI used to work on when I was with MQ. Personally, I like voice because it gives my hands and arms a break. If you have good dictators, then you can make some money. I think this is true for those of us who are not real fast typists to begin with. I can see the problem with those who have mastered making abbreviations and who are fast typists. They are probably slowed down with voice, whereas I am able to make better lines with it, if given good dictators. My best to you.

Anyone know of a company, easy clinic work, easy Word format, dependable pay? Help! [2008-09-11]
x

They have Scribe and Allscripts for Ortho. Both are internet based and easy to use. sm [2008-09-07]
I should mention that I do not know if those are the only two, but I think they are the majority of the accounts.

Easy. Take a job anywhere. It will be prn because [2008-09-04]
there will be no work. They will want you to type prn but demand you live up to a line count and schedule they will not promise work to fill, thus it ends up prn for you, and great for them. Sorry, just the facts. Imagine a company that was honest and actually hired for prn. There's never be anything comparing what it is like for full time or part time these days. JIMHO

Medrite is very easy to learn, transcription friendly...nm [2008-08-27]

More offshoring of the easy dictators [2008-08-22]
nm

I was down about the account last week but now love it. It was easy to get used to. The first sm [2008-08-21]
day was really rough, the second was a just as bad but 2 weeks into it and I really like it. My counts are good too, averaging right around 1400 lines a day, which is good for these old fingers. Docuscribe is great, but I have worked on it before for the big Q.

It is pretty easy. I would call them and talk to them. sm [2008-08-17]
Start with HIM Coordinator (starts with B). She's the best.

Yees they use docqscribe, very easy to use nm [2008-08-17]

Test was really fairly easy. (sm) [2008-06-26]
I expected there to be some really difficult accents, but they weren't. Good luck.

That test was so easy. If you didn't know [2008-06-22]
- you shouldn't be an MT. They were very BASIC questions that you learn in Transcription 101.

I'm sorry. I must have it easy there, which SM [2008-05-19]
is reason I, unfortunately, can't leave. I really feel badly for you. Sadly, that's why company has the reputatation it does. They are more concerned about happiness of offshore MTs.

Great company other than below. Decent pay, easy [2008-05-15]
platform, they usually don't pester you to work OT if they have it, they pay for downtime, QA very tough, strict schedule, daily QA feedback, monthly QA score. If you screw up be prepared to be yelled out like a 5-YO. Work your schedule, follow account specifics, produce a quality product and you'll never hear from anyone.

bayscribe is easy [2008-05-08]
and MDI is probably the best out there.

Yes, the transcription part is easy because I have been doing this for so long but some of the [2008-04-26]
terms that I dont use a lot I forget the meanings if they have a lot of parts to them. The terms I am used to are a breeze but they seem to put in words some of whichI dont use frequently. So, we shall see. I was sort of fun actually. I did the test after working a whole day and not sure that was the best thing.

It's easy, tho my tech support didn't know how [2008-04-23]
I got instructions on how to do this from productivitytalk. Basically you save your expansion file (the one you have to back up from time to time on DQS) as a text file, and then when you get your new program set up, you can import it. At least, that's how it worked for me. As for hours and lines, the company I moved to in the fall lets you work as much as you want, but currently there's so little work it's hard to even get the minimum in. Once again, tho, that's just my experience.

Bayscribe is very easy to learn. [2008-04-20]
The training lasted about 1-1/2 hours, but most of that was installing it. The trainer went over a few functions and the rest is in the manual, which is very easy. I went from DocQScribe to Bayscribe without any problem. Bayscribe doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it works well. Everything is on 1 screen (all the demographics). I have no problem making my counts on it.

I would not leave [2008-11-19]
I work for a small company as an IC. The company knows IC means I work when I can or want to. I have no set schedule. That is #1 importance to me. But aside from that, the account I work on is really nice. I have run out of work on occasion, but it is not a regular thing and seems to happen mostly when someone new is hired. The new people seem to go in and work around the clock, taking work from those of us who have been there longer and tending to be the cherry pickers, which annoys me somewhat, but that usually dies down within a couple of weeks and then things get back to normal, with enough work for everyone. There are some ESL dictators but not a ton, and many of those are easily understood. The owners of the company are really easy people to work with, very understanding, etc. The pay is always on time, and I feel I earn decent pay for what I do and I feel like I am valued there. I would not leave them now or otherwise. Now my second job is a whole different story. I work as a coder for a large hospital, and i would leave in a heartbeat if I could. I work from home and again have no set schedule but do have to work xx number of hours each week; I just pick the times to work. That is it's only advantage. The work is demanding and difficult. We get no respect for it at all. The stress is incredible as we work on a production standard that is virtually impossible to meet. We have 0, that's right 0, people in our group who meet the standard, and we have 27 coders. The expectations are unachievable, and we are constantly pressured to do more and more and more but we get less and less and less in return. Sounds familiar? However, this is the job that provides benefits for myself and my hubby, so I am stuck there for time eternal (or until Medicare kicks in for us). In my lifetime, I have always enjoyed working, but this is truly the first time I could say I hate my job and mean it wholeheartedly. That is why I feel for so many of the MTs out there who are stuck in situations that are making them miserable. Considering the amount of time an individual spends working, shouldn't we be able to feel good about what we do?

DocQScribe [2008-11-19]
I have a few specific questions about DocQScribe, but would also appreciate any additional info, good, bad, otherwise. (I have read past posts but found conflicting info and the posts were not that recent.) 1. Does the ShortHand Expander work on DocQScribe? 2. How easy is the platform to learn? 3. How easy is the platform to navigate around when you are in a report -- and are there a lot of steps to saving, sending, etc? 4. Can you look up prior patient reports? 5. Can you make your own templates? 6. How is the spellchecker? 7. Can a fast typist make good line counts? 8. Is the line count mechanism accurate? Thanks in advance for this and any other info you can provide.

specific answers .. [2008-11-19]
hi .. 1. Does the ShortHand Expander work on DocQScribe? not sure .. pretty sure it does. 2. How easy is the platform to learn? very ... just use keyboard commands instead of mouse 3. How easy is the platform to navigate around when you are in a report -- and are there a lot of steps to saving, sending, etc? I find it easy and there are not a lot of steps .. 4. Can you look up prior patient reports? no 5. Can you make your own templates? You have to put them in the expander and it depends on company policy; they do not want cut and paste as it can affect formatting on client end 6. How is the spellchecker? okay 7. Can a fast typist make good line counts? yes .. friend does over 300 8. Is the line count mechanism accurate? mine has been when I checked it From my experience, it is a great system. I too lost production but I started using it but that has been true for me with any windows-based program I have worked on .. give me back my DOS and WP .. .that is when I used to make good money .. LOL good luck to you .. you will be fine PS - However, The speech recognition of MQ (ASR) is terrible unless you have really great dictators.

DocQscribe [2008-11-19]
I work for MQ and DocQScribe is one of the best things about MQ. I think it is very easy to use. I use ShortHand with it easily. You cannot really go back and look up out charts but that might be just with MQ. I have used a couple of other platforms and found it more user friendly than the other ones. I have found that most of the ADT information is automated, and I only have to read through it, which is par for the course with ADT information.

I have 4 accounts, doing all work types, and I usually have enough work but this is the slow time of [2008-11-19]
year so we are scrambling a little for lines. Easy platform, paychecks DD, always on time.

DocQScribe, SM [2008-11-19]
I have been using DocQScribe now for about four months and I love it. I think it is very fast, very efficient and very easy to learn. My ShortHand works fine with it, I can make my own templates, never have had any problems with it. And my line count increasedright away whenI started using it. I can look up past reports but you have to also have access to DocQRoute which some companies will allow and some will not. Just my experience.

MedGarde [2008-11-18]
I have worked for MedGarde as a QA since April and I am very happy with them. I find their platform easy to use.

Depends [2008-11-18]
If I'm doing a verbatim acct I flag it. If I'm allowed to be a true MT, I'd fix it. I was really just looking for an easy example of when knowing something matters :)

I work on ExText and like it. [2008-11-18]
I really likeExText. They have made it pretty easy to use. I feel their cpl rate is about average. There are certainly worse paying companies out there.

MyMT [2008-11-17]
Bravo for your post! I absolutely agree with you. That person wanted to only know--and give--the minimum. Just like there are stars who are at the top of the class (or the workplace), so are there slackers who only want to get the minimum. These are the same people who give our profession a bad name because they not regard it as a profession, only a supposedly (ha) way to stay home and make easy money. The world will always live down to these people's expectations because they give so very little and have so little pride in themselves and absolutely no incentive to learn. I think that over the next five years or so we will see a winnowing out of the profession due to the current economic climate and those who don't think they have to know the difference between generic and brand, who don't want to learn and grow, will be left behind. And I will not shed a tear for them.

RE: Focus [2008-11-17]
Their tests are pretty easy. They offer benefits, which are pretty decent, but like most companies a little costly if you're insuring the whole family. They pay every two weeks and there is plenty of work. They pay for downtime if the system goes down. There is a good amount of ESL, but that's becoming pretty standard in this profession. I agree with other poster, give it a try but don't quit your other job. I have MT friends that are happy there and make a decent check. Good luck even if you don't end up working there!

eTrans [2008-11-16]
I have been at eTransPlus for several months working on the ExText platform. So far so good except for the QA person assigned who I find ill-prepared, unclear, defensive, and has no interest in carrying on a 2-way conversation. Get past her and everything else seems to be fine ...so far. I have learned, however, that these companies are often not what they appear at the beginning so I hesitate to give a rave review with my 4 months of experience. Can't speak to other platforms. This one is wonderfully easy.

I like working in Emdat [2008-11-15]
I do not know anything about the company you mentioned but I do like Emdat.I have transcribed using Word, DocuScribe, a dos program I can't remember the name of, Vianeta, and Emdat. Emdat is by far my favorite. My line counts are very close and often identical to the line count feature in MS Word. I like having the patient's demongraphics on the same screen where I am typing. I also like that I can check line counts on reports that I have transcribed but have not been delievered to the client yet. (This includes reports in QA). The software was very easy to learn. That's my 2 cents worth. Mariah

I didn't have any trouble with the test after I got used to the fact sm [2008-11-13]
that I couldn't use my foot pedal. The first and the third parts were easy, but I couldn't hear a few spots in the second dictation and had to leave blanks, but I guess that was okay because I apparently passed. Maybe give it another try -- don't let the no foot pedal thing spook you.

Love them... [2008-11-12]
I started with them fresh out of school a few months ago. Everyone there is very easy going. I tend to try to work throughout the day, as the work is not there early in the morning or late in the evening. The pay is pretty low, but the work is easy too. I've only had one ESL while doing clinic notes. I also love that there are no minimum requirements for production (IC status). I know I'll stick with them fora long while. Pay is consistent and direct deposited on Mondays. I had to choose between four companies when I decided to go with NEMT, full well knowing I wouldn't strike it rich there. Imade my decisionbased solely on the their reputation, and boy, was it worth it! Oh, yeah, I had forgotten I was promised a raise at one point, and I had forgotten about it. They actually reminded me about it and made it retroactive to the correct date. I appreciated their honesty. NEMT Happy

MedScribe [2008-11-09]
I have worked for them for several years and I have never heard of MedScribe sending work offshore. My team leader is very nice and they keep us all busy. I have heard about two new accounts that started recently and one more that will begin in December. We did just start using a new software platform and it is really easy to learn and I was back up to my line count in just one day. They also give you a primary account and then back you up to a secondary so you do not have to chase work.

I agree totally...sm [2008-11-08]
I have plenty of work, pay on time always every Monday DD into my account, and everyone very easy to work with and always helpful. In my opnion you could not go wrong.

Spheris [2008-11-08]
I was with Spheris for 8 years, and they send as much as possible to India. You can find their EC fildings on line, and they tout their cheap India labor as their primary focus in future profit margin. They continue to take US work from us to send to India. My account, which I had had for 6 years went straight to India; my second account India received all the easy authors, sticking us with only ESL; and so on.

Superscript [2008-11-08]
I am sorry that you had a bad experience with any company. I am not sure if there is another Superscript out there or not, but I had a completely opposite experience with them. I worked with Superscript out of MI or WI for a time and loved it. I left due to healt issues that prevented me from working with any kind of consistency (all better now), but would more than be thrilled to go back now! Jane always paid on time every time, pay was weekly, was always enough work, doctors were fairly easy to transcribe, and was always offerd extra but not pressured to take extra. I hope that she is willing to give me a second chance now that I am better:)

My experience with NEMT [2008-11-07]
I work for them parttime as an IC. I've been there only a short time, but I love it there. The platform is easy and the dictators are good too, although there are exceptions as always. I haven't gotten an ESL doctor yet. It's clinic work. The pay is considered low, but since I already have a fulltime job it works for me. The only problem I have is that I can only work late evening/early morning hours and I've found that the work is very sporatic. If I worked during the day I'd have plenty. Again, this all works very well for me because of my needs, but it definitely isn't going to be for everybody. Oh, and QA is excellent and they don't bother you, but just let you do your work. Everyone is very nice. Hopefully someone who works days fulltime can give you move insight.

I've been there for 10 years sm [2008-11-07]
Although the pay is low, the platform is super easy and no one bugs you; they just let you work. They have been through a lot of changes in 10 years, but I have also and they have always been willing to work with me. I find the dictators super easy for the most part; however, I have worked on some of them for 10 years so I know what they are going to say before they even say it. There are a couple of ESLs that are a challenge and one who is American that is worse than the ESLs. There seems to be plenty of work on my account during the day but I do type mainly the ESL pool. The people in the office are very nice to deal with as is the owner. Obviously, I think they are great because I have been there for a LONG time. :o) Hope this helps.

I'm working there now.. (m) [2008-11-04]
Been there about 6-8 weeks and so far I'm really liking it. Perhaps it depends on the account, but I don't find I am overwhelmed by ESL docs (I have a west coast account). There are a lot of foreign names, but they are not ESL. The ones that are haven't been that bad (there's only 1 that I have problems with). Seems to always be work available and they added work types when I was running low (when I first started, hasn't happened since) and have also offered to add another account if it happens again. Getting lines doesn't seem to be a problem but this could be because I believe I have relatively easy dictators (again, could be account specific). Benefits seem to be the usual. Good incentives for working third shift I noticed. They let ya do your work and leave ya alone, which as a former IC I really appreciate. The contact I have had with QA has been helpful and never degrading. Any other questions feel free to email or ask here :)

Half [2008-11-04]
A lot of companies like mine pay half. If I had to do ASR full time for that price, I would go to work at a store or something easy.

They are jerks as well, [2008-11-01]
especially the recruiter. They pull the bait-and-switch - they post ads about easy accounts yet claim they are all filled except for an all-ESL account. They are rude and if they want to leave you go they don't have the b***s to tell you, just leave you hanging. They keep the sorry MTs and let the good ones go when their work isn't 100% perfect after 2-3 days. Then they wonder why when they get a scathing email telling them like it is. I pity the MTs who work for this dishonest callous bunch. I positively hate them.

One thing to know about Onesuite (sm) [2008-10-29]
This is easy to set up and use but you need to know it AUTOMATICALLY cuts off at 3 hours! I learned the hard way, and then called them, and they said you have to hang up before the 3 hour mark, but no one tells you that when you set it up. Otherwise, pretty effective.
