That person did nothing but come on the board to cause trouble and stir up stuff!

Diskriter hem/onc account [2008-11-14]
Anyone who works for Diskriter on this account, would you please post what platform is used for this account and if you like the account or not. Also, are there a great deal of ESLs? Anything else you would like to share would be appreciated. How do you like working for Diskriter?Thank you so much for your input.

I wish I could look at the jobs board and not have to wade through the Focus s/m [2008-11-11]
job postings. I know that sounds ridiculous, and YES, of course I can pass them by (and I do), but every time a job title catches my eye, it is almost always Focus Infomatics. This automatically puts me in the mindeset of India and our jobs going overseas, which gets me grumpy. I know some of you have had a good experience with Focus, and I am glad for that, but GRRRR. Rant over :-)

split shifts at Diskriter [2008-11-10]
Before I crossed over to the QA side, I used to split my shift at Diskriter. They have great insurance, but I'm not sure what would be considered affordable.

SGS, cheap and would rather ship your job to india, where they have 100s of MTs taking our jobs! [2008-11-07]
Yes, on eScription...making about $5 and hour if lucky! they quote you a pretty good line rate for typing, but half that for editing, and it's mostly editing. then, with all the crap they throw at you, (this dr. wants this, be sure to fill in that, don't submit a report w/o this, and 30 pages of account specifics?) it's time consuming. and the templates are a nightmare, the drs. are all over the place on them, not following them, so when editing them it takes forever. @ 4cpl you can spend 15 minutes on one and make $1.00. RUN!

I am American. Are you helping Americans get jobs? nm [2008-11-03]

Diskriter coming along [2008-11-02]
I am currently at Diskriter, I like the AME/Transriter platform now that they have upgraded - that is right UPGRADED, and they are really trying to focus on working for all the MTs to keep it friendly. The VR platform is far better than Dictaphone/Extext platform - but they still have some work to do on that (whose platform does not?). I think all VR is crap personally, after 24 years of typing - just let me TYPE! I have read a few threads involving the worfklow and that is an issue there right now, but I think once the system is fully functional and all the accounts are brought on board it will level out. I am willing to put in a little time for people that appreciate it, unlike where I worked before OSi...enough said.

True IC jobs [2008-11-02]
I would love to hear from you regarding true IC work. My E mail is posted.

The people who are posting most negative posts [2008-11-01]
have not worked at Focus in a long time. I work there now and think they are great. I have had no problems. Pay is always on time, nobody bothers me, and I always have plenty of work....only work on 1 account.

Diskriter [2008-10-29]
Does anyone work for Diskriter? If so, how are they to work for?

Diskriter [2008-10-28]
Does anyone know anything about the Transriter platform used by Diskriter? Any information about it, ease of use or difficulty would be appreciated. I only know that it works with Shorthand. Thanks in advance.

Diskriter [2008-10-28]
I worked for them briefly, about 2 weeks, and I thought the platform was a little redundant and you had to cut and paste, which I thought took a long time. Anyway, I ended up quitting because I just did not think I would get the line count I was used to getting. Hope this helps. Of course, perhaps had I given it a little time, then I would have gotten faster.

Diskriter [2008-10-28]
Like the other Transcriptionist said, you cut and paste the demographics from one page to the next when doing the ADT screen, and the screen that you type on was very different from what I was used, only showing one line at a time. I cannot remember the name of the account, but it was mostly oncology office notes, letters and such.

DocXpress on the jobs board... [2008-10-26]
Anyone heard of them?

Yes, jobs may be there but is the wage decent? [2008-10-21]
That's the all important question we need to ask and know, along with what's going on at any of those companies. So many jobs available and we have to wonder why..., withso manyof us looking every day.

I do think ppl have lost jobs / ins coverage which sm [2008-10-16]
means that basic needs are not being met; people are deciding to put food on the table instead of seeing a doctor. Elective surgery is even more unlikely to be done because, by nature, it is something you'd choose to do; even rich people are uneasy in this economy.

Posting on the company board and companies figuring out [2008-10-15]
who it is. Okay, this is the topic, and the reason why I am bringing this up is there were at least 2 posts here in the last week stating they believed the company would find out or did find out they posted here and they said negative things and might get fired or did not get hired because of it. How is this possible? Can a recruiter or boss actually pin down who is posting? What if someone says something and they are a troll and sounds like a situation which the company person perceives is an employee and they take it out on the possible new hire or employee and they are wrong? There have been posts here in the past by company managers who say if they find out who is posting they will sue for slander. Then, MTs come on here and assume that the companies go to the board managers and get the IP address to figure out who this is. Even if it was a certain IP address, and they went through this whole process to find out, it could be routed through another IP address such as overseas (this is often done in the case of hiding identity). Since this is an anon board, how can any company say for sure it is a certain person. Why would they go to the trouble unless it were given to the police or a lawyer in the case of attempted murder or threat of such? I want to know you opinions. And moderator please feel free to comment. Wondering if our IP addresses are given out every time a company suspects something and if so, is this an invasion of our privacy since this should be anon. Or, is it that people are paranoid, whether it be the employee/new hire, or company assuming such. Remember to never assume because why? You make an *** out of u and me. Thanks for your comments. This has been bothering me a while now, and I would like to get some input back on this issue from companies and from posters alike.

One of my jobs says use apostrophes [2008-10-09]
(They don't follow BOS) and the other says definitely no apostrophes (follow BOS strictly). So I would say it's up to the individual company.

I have 2 parttime jobs, 1 VR, 1 straight typing.... [2008-10-09]
in comparing the 2 side by side, I make 30-40 more dollars a day with straight typing, reason being, if you have to make a lot of changes with VR and it seems I do, then you lose time and money even if you get good VR on other doctors. This is a comparison side by side, it is not worth half the pay, it is just not right. I struggle a lot of days getting 1500 lines on VR if I have to make a lot of dumb changes, like adding words VR left out, adding words or taking out words, that is just not cost productive. That is my opinion. Remember I am doing this with one company on one computer and one on another.

This seems to be the trend now. I have had to change jobs 3 times this year [2008-10-06]
due to this very fact. I'm at my third one now, and it is still happening. I've decided to just work 2 jobs. One part time and the other supposedly full time, but it is like a part time. The only reason I am staying at the third is because, I need the insurance, and changing between jobs before the 90 day probation has landed me without insurance, as I have had to change jobs before the 90 days are up.

These subcontracting jobs make me uncomfortable [2008-10-03]
I tried it once and was never given enough work to for even part time. I will never do subcontracting work again. There's not enough stability for me, including being paid sporadically, no set dates.

Plenty of jobs, just look at Job Seeker's board, [2008-09-29]

To MQer [2008-11-20]
I am one of your co-workers. I don't care for the Q any more than you. However, in all honesty...my line count doubled when I went into DQS. It was ASR that turned it into a flaming downward spiral. DQS is all about shortcut functions and typing speed. It does take about a month of like full time killing yourself to get used to it. I have worked on 3 different platforms before. As an aside, you have to remember this was back in the VERY BEGINNING of DQS before they added all the templates and standards into the system. Now it sucks almost as bad as ASR. I think it will depend for them on what they are doing with DQS. If they don't have all that stuff they have to do like the Q makes us do, they may actually improve. I would have to say that just about anything the Q touches these days goes sour. BTW, I was reading on a posting in the SEC filings that the Q has some sort of patent infringement suit going on over DQS.

Reply to you both [2008-11-20]
Thank you both for posting your experience.

Would you mind sharing which job [2008-11-19]
you make better money at? I am looking into coding full time. I don't like the idea of the stress, but I need to make a living where the pay does not continue to go down or nowhere. Do you think there are coding jobs out there that are less stressful than where you are or do you think they are pretty much the same everywhere? Saying you have benefits and work from home, two wonderful things in a job, and you still would leave due to the stress is quite telling about the profession, I must say. Thanks!

make better money coding...sm [2008-11-19]
I do earn more money coding, mainly because it is hourly pay (so no fluctuations like you get with line counts) and the value of the benefits. I do think there are coding jobs which are much less stressful than where I work. Actually, I think most of them are. Our facility is huge, actually has it's own little city, with 3 hospitals, one with a level 1 trauma center which is shared with a children's hospital, 150-some clinics, an eye institute, and a cancer center plus is a teaching facility so we do the coding for the college facilities. Most coding jobs in my area (midwest) are working from home. Our benefits include health, dental, life, disability and vision insurance, FSA and HSA accounts, tuition reimbursement, AHIMA membership paid, 403B match, 4.6 hours of earned vacation and 1.8 hours of sick time per pay period (2 weeks) so they're pretty good. I do know coders in other facilities around here who do not have the same stressful conditions which we have and who love their jobs. Much of it is due to size and our remote management. I used to work at a smaller hospital and really liked coding there. I left when my daughter became ill and needed me home. I ended up at the facility I am with now because they were one of the few places who did have home coding available at the time that i started. Now I just think I am too darned old to start over someplace else and give up my seniority, vacation accrual, etc., so I will stick it out until I can retire. So it's my own fault I'm miserable 'cuz I don't make the change! If you go into coding, I hope you get to be one of the people who does love it and would venture a guess you would not find the stress level to be what ours is unless you work for one of the largest of facilities.

Hey, nice to hear from you again. I would say Encompass is a very good sm [2008-11-19]
place to work. I wasn't working there full-time, but from what I saw, they have a nice benefit package, and the staff is very helpful and professional. The only kinda scary part is that they require 99.5% accuracy (or maybe 99, cannot remember). Fortunately, on my first QA thing before being released from QA, I did manage to achieve that (a little more actually), so I was relieved. I guess I just do not have enough confidence in myself. Unfortunately, they lost the account I was hired for, but they were looking for another one. In the meantime, though, my personal life kind of took a different turn, and I ended up moving from Kansas to Colorado, so I decided one job was enough for now. As for eTransPlus, they are also very friendly, although much more disorganized than some companies. I was put off for a week and a half past the date I was hired to start, then when I did start, there were tech problems, then I did4 jobs or so and ran out of work ... that kind of thing. Again, when I decided to move, I just decided it was not worth the extra aggravation. Still, I would recommend either company. There are still some good companies out there, although I hesitate to comment since my experience is not recent. I used to work for MDI-MD, and they paid VERY well at the time because you had to supply your own LD, and that was before the days of unlimited LD. I had 5 accounts, so managed to keep myself busy, but now I read posts about people running out of work, so I do not really know. I have heard good things about Axolotl, and I applied, but the only opening is 3rd shift with 80% ESLs, so I decided not to do it. Their benefits are great, though - no deductible for BC/BS! And there is a $500 sign-on bonus too. Oh well ... I talked to Acusis, and if you can overlook their heavy overseas connection, they have a nice benefit package as well. The pay is so-so. I guess no one ever pays me what I know I am worth. If you run into a company you are interested in, feel free to ask me. I have been an MT for about 100 years now, so I might have worked for them! Good luck -- hope you find something wonderful.

Employee, but [2008-11-18]
I've never heard of being paid for downtime, unless they are just referring to when their platform goes down. If something happens to your computer, or if they decide to upgrade to some software that won't run on your computer, you sure don't get paid. Also, they allow 10 days of vacation per year, but they are not paid. On holidays, if you are scheduled to work, you must work, even if it means sitting at your computer watching the queue just in case some jobs might show up. Of course, you don't get paid for your time, though I've never heard of anyone really getting into trouble for refusing to sit and stare at a blank screen for free.

8 cents for typing, 4 cents for editing....differential for graveyard, but not sure what it is Lots of ESL, work is up and down...work is in a pool. Hasn't your mother taught you any manners? [2008-11-17]
What is wrong with you to judge? Do you think every MT has to be just like you. Every business has the high achievers and the ones who struggle, possibly to find they have chosen the wrong field, or the wrong company, specialty expander. Your ladies who toss off your smart a$$ comments at every chance are part of the reason MTs are considered difficult. If you are like this 24 hours a day, I have a feeling you spend a good deal of time MTing because there is no one else in the house with you. Who'd want to spend time with a person who could cough up a post such as yours? A masochist possibly. Find yourself a sense of humor and until then, cease posting in representation of medical transcriptions. We have more class than that where I am in this business.

Perhaps [2008-11-17]
you should read the thread again. I was not criticizing anyone using the word bravo, but rather showing abc where brava is, in fact, a word. She was the one who posted, BRAVA???????. I was merely trying to point out that she should, perhaps, look things up before posting something like that. bra·va (brävä, brä-vä) interj. stopped our 401K, then stopped our direct deposit, then they lost all their big accounts and we all lost our jobs.

I can understand why you say what you do [2008-11-14]
but you should be wary. What comes around goes around. I have seen many MTs that were absolutely amazing at their job lose those jobs because of offshoring and outsourcing. These women were the best of the best and had to go on and look for work with less pay. It isn't survival of the fittest anymore in this business. It is who can do a half decent job for half the price. That is reality and we are all dealing with it. I don't care what your salary is. The higher it is, the bigger target you are for losing it. So, while you are bragging and putting people down, I hope you are putting those big bucks in the bank to fall back on. You will need them. So go ahead and put people down. When you are out of work because you charge too much

I suspected something was going on despite all the lies [2008-11-14]
and I already was working another job when they lost the account. There were sending so much work to India that there wasn't much work anyway, so I worked both jobs for a while. The MTSO was trying to get people to quit so she wouldn't have to pay unemployment.

I agree [2008-11-13]
I think many people are putting off medical care. A lot of people have lost jobs and thus lost health insurance. I code outpatient clinic visits for a very large hospital, and our hospital outpatient/clinic census has dropped by 200-300 patients per day.

Am I expecting too much or am I [2008-11-13]
This MT has lots of years of experience and has sent out resumes the past couple of weeks in answer to jobs posted here and elsewhere. I am an SE and looking to supplement my income. In the past whenever I would send a resume, I would get at least an automatic reply: We have received your resume, and will be reviewing it shortly, or something like that. Now, I get no response whatsoever. There could be the sounds of crickets in the background. Could there be something with my e mail? My resume has always done well for me, and even with my added 1 job in the last year. And it isn't like I am applying to jobs which are not looking for people. I apply to the types of positions they seek, and I have lots of experience. Finally, my question to you is this. I have been offered a job with an American company but they do offshore. I initially said that when I found out they off-shored I had to decline, personal policy of working for USA only. If I get no responses to my resumes now, should I go to the other job which off-shores in spite of my feelings on the subject? Would feeding a family and having money for the holidays be more important than my stance on offshoring versus all USA? Thanks in advance for your replies to the above. This MT is really kind of confused, I realize there is a recession, but seems like employers are acting kind of strange... maybe it is me!

I just started a M-F position [2008-11-12]
this week with a fairly large MTSO. My third day on the job, I got a phone call from another MTSO I had applied to a month ago asking me if I was interested in a M-F position. The reason I was looking for a new job was the hospital where I also worked a M-F position decided to outsource. While on my job search, I was also offered a M-F job doing clinic work, but pay was too low. Those jobs are out there, you just have to be patient and have a little luck on your side.

Go by your first instinct [2008-11-12]
When people get involved in scams like this and Amway, etc. theyare toldNOT to tell anybody the company name until half way through the presentation. So that is a danger signal right there. If you have a legitimate job offer, there is absolutely no reason to be secretive. Maybe there should be a requirement that if you are going to post jobs, you HAVE to say upfront what the company is.

Economy affecting work load [2008-11-12]
Is anyone else out there who may be struggling for lines thinking like me; that it may be people are just not going to doctors or electing for treatment they can possibly put off because they cannot afford it? My accounts have been pretty slow over the past 6 weeks or so, and when I hear that some people, especially the elderly who lost or suffered a huge reduction in their retirement when the stockmarket went down the tubes, are forgoing medical care in order to buy food or heat their homes, it makes me wonder how huge an impact this could eventually have on our jobs as MTs.

This is for AmeriPlan. I googled the name and phone number and got this site: http://www.freedomathometeam.com/julia/about I remember when they first started gearing up, I was contacted by one of their reps years ago when I had posted my resume. Can't believe they don't keep an eye on what is being posted as 'jobs'.
