Transcend offshore [2008-08-18]
THAT IS AN OUT AND OUT LIE!!
Transcend work [2008-08-15]
I have had no problem with communicating with Transcend. Got out of training on the second day, and I am on a very difficult account. None of it is easy, but I feel I have lots of help and support when and if I need it.
Transcend [2008-08-13]
I started last Wednesday. I was only allowed ot do 5 reports a day until I scored 98% of higher. That sounded fair enough so I did my 5 reports that afternoon, I received my feedback and it was well above 98%. Next day, Thursday,I do 5 more and only 2 reports were graded. She said the rest would be coming in later as itwas already the end of the shift. So it is alreadyWednesday and I have not heard from them. I went ahead and did 5 yesterday. Again,I have not heard from anyone until last night there was an e-mail sent out saying not to do more than 5 until you get feedback. I will say I love the Escription platform and the VR work I did was not bad. The account I am on is not too bad so far.I did encounter 2 difficult dictators but that doesn't really scare me. What scares me is this slowfeedback and only 5 reports a day. It just feels like this training period is going to be a long drawn out process. Is it too early to get discouraged?
Starting Transcend and VR [2008-08-07]
Just remember, Escription is a whole different creature than their beyond text. If you get on beyond text, I bet you will get frustrated real easy. The Escription platform is where VR is at and last I knew Transcend has both but more with beyond text. I speak from experience, interested to hear what other says about the two platforms and which are better.
Transcend has [2008-08-05]
1000 exactly through BCBS. It is 80 per pay period for employee only.
Transcend insurance [2008-08-05]
You have to be employed 120 days and make at least $900 per pay to qualify.
Transcend [2008-07-31]
You will paid once you start actually working, even in training, having QA check your reports.. It will take time to get used to, but all the acct.specifics are on line for all the docs and accounts. It's a great way to do it. Lots of support I have found, and I have only worked there a few months.
Transcend [2008-07-30]
Tomorrow the IT person from Transcend is supposed to get me set up for an E-scription account. I don't know how, all I have is a foot pedal. Am I supposed to have some kind of software as well? I would ask the person who hired me but they are out of the office until this weekend.
Frustration working at Transcend, same here [2008-07-29]
I am in the same boat as you. I have been working for them for almost 2 years and was promise a pie in the sky salary when I started. I haven't even been offered a raise yet. I get very discouraged because I work as hard as I can and even work extra on my days off. I wish they had a mentoring program to help others learn how to make the $900 per pay period that they require for you to be a full-time employee. From what I have read in the labor laws production workers are suppose to get paid the difference to make up for what they are not making, as far as minimum wage goes.
Transcend [2008-07-23]
I couldn't agree more. I'm losing money like crazy with their VR program and at pathetic line rates! AMEN!!
transcend [2008-07-22]
I agree. Transcend is an excellent company. I went with the harder account for more money, but there are easier ones. I am 76 years old and still work half-time. They are very good to me and very helpful.
Transcend [2008-07-17]
Hey Guys!! I just heard from a very good source that somone over at Transcend just made a record of 66,000 lines (pay period) --- now how in the world can a human being do that?!!! Supposedly the QA was fine -- listen to this, she uses a lot of macros --- C'mon, am I crazy or what in believing this is not right. I worked there and especially with the dang VR never hit anything to brag about let alone anything as unbelievable as that crap. Anyone from Transcend hear about this and is it true? I had it verified by a ROM. I am just packing up the keyboard and going to the street corner and sell pencils.
Transcend sends all the good work to India and leaves all the [2008-07-17]
garbage for the MTs in the States so they can keep the indian slime working. n donkeys are that do the work. Transcend is not a good place to work
Frustration working at Transcend. [2008-07-15]
Anybody out there still employed with Transcend, who is frustrated right now???? Well, I am for sure. Seems no matter how hard you try or how much effort you put into correcting the errors in report, they still complain about quality. Maybe it is this way everywhere, I don't know. I am just really frustrated, especially because their pay is pretty bad. Only 4 cpl for editing jobs. I spent all day doing editing jobs and I figure I made about $40 that day. Wow, then I can plan on making about #200 a week or so.I have tried so hard to stay the course and keep hoping things will get better, but so far they are not.
Anybody out there want to add a comment.
Transcend stinks...They used to be awesome but it has gone from bad to worse. [2008-07-15]
My line count has gone down so I have no doubt they are manipulating line counts and communication is the worse. Everything falls on deaf ears unless they have a problem with you, then they email you very quickly, but forget getting help on anything else. The more TL and QA people they have added the worse it has gotten. Maybe the problem is that they are not sure what their job descriptions are so no one answers emails. I'm done with them.
Frustration working at Transcend [2008-07-15]
It is a shame to see such a great place to work become so bad. It was fantastic 3 years ago but since VR has taken over the employees are dropping like flies. They are going to be left with very few employees - is anyone left there? Would the last person out please shut the door!
Transcend or Precyse. [2008-07-14]
I have offers from both. Precyse offered much better pay but it is at night. They seemed really friendly and wanting me to come aboard. When they offered me that I thought I could handle the graveyard shift, but now I am getting cold feet. My main concern about them is adjusting to their hours. Transcend offered less paybut they have normal daytime hours available. However, I have read negative posts about them having no work available, which is myconcern about them. With Transcend, however, I would get to use my own computer and not have to make room in this little bitty house for another. It can be done though. I am kind of stressed out on which way to turn. Any adviceor opinions? TIA.
Transcend--Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Communication is awful. [2008-07-14]
I've been there a long time and the more team leaders they add the worse the communication gets. Now, you can send a question, help request, or an email to about 8 people andyour lucky if one gets back to you. I personaly am sick of it. I don't care if I am asking what day it is, someone should have the common courtesy to respond back. I get tired of talking to myself. I'm done with that. I'm not sure the line counts are accurate either. I can do two pages with them and get 50 lines and cthen I can do two pages on another job that utilizes Dictaphone and I end up with 80 lines. How does that work, especially when they use the same font etc. Bad deal, moving on.
transcend [2008-07-11]
You hit the nail on the head the beauty is our size - too big, too fast and full of suits and not enough listening to the worker bees. Smaller companies are better in many ways and can afford to pay you if there is no work and it does not happen that often because they have a better handle on work to MLS ratio and do not overhire and treat the problems early. Big, fat companies with an attitude cannot do that. The few times I run oout of work, I get paid. End of story.
Think twice about Transcend. Overhire and not so great lines count [2008-07-09]
As far as the hospital job goes, that would be a better, stable choice. I know in our area the clerks obviously make less than the MTs, but it is way above minimum wage, not to mention you get shift/weekend/holiday differential. Find a company is this business that does that. NONE, at least that I have found. Best wishes on your job search.
Transcend [2008-07-07]
You were smarter than I. I worked there for months, hoping things would improve. I was meeting my line requirements, but the accound was absolutely TERRIBLE, and just when I was able to qualify for benefiits, they starting sending my easiest work offshore. The ROM and the TLs kept lying about this, and saying that they did not know where the work had gone, but one of their managers fessed up.
Low/no work at Transcend? [2008-07-07]
Anybody? Or maybe it's just me. I don't get it. I've barely had part-time amount of work and I check in at all hours of the day and night just to get that. There is zero work on the system right now. It's ridiculous. I've been begging them to add another account and they are doing it I guess but at a snail's pace. Bills are coming due, gas is getting higher and this looks like the end of the road for me. Even during MT week, everyone was suppose to get a package, I didn't and to add insult to injury there was a contest I had won that week ($25) and you guessed it, no sign of it.
So although they're extremely friendly ppl who don't give me a bit of grief, I can't afford to work there anymore. It's been since the end of May and hardly any work.
Oh well. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','%3Cimg%20src=http://forum.mtstars.com/company/smileys/sad.gif%3E');
I've already applied to a few places, so we'll see what we see.
It's back to the drawing board, Again.
I just signed on with Transcend [2008-07-07]
a week ago and am getting their stats now although I have not officially started working. The workload does look low. I had also tested with another company one day last week called Precyse. I received an e-mail today saying thatI passed their test and will be contacting me so I will see what they have to offer. I thought I was in luck because this local hospital ran an ad in our local newspaper saying they want a Medical Records Clerk, FT with excellent benefits. That is all the ad read. I went and applied this morning. Fully steady pay with benefits sounds so good. The hospital is a block away and I can leave my work there and not have it staring me in the face 24/7. I am just afraid that the word clerk in the ad means minimum wage.
Transcend - Down time [2008-07-07]
I used to work for Transcend for 3 years and now with my new company, I get PAID for downtime!!!
I love it!
I don't work for Transcend, just responding to [2008-07-07]
the post of company can't guarantee work.
Any new information? [2008-08-16]
I'm at MQ now and Transcend showed big interest in my posted resume, offering me a position? Is there anyone out there who went from MQ to Transcend or just any currentinformation about them, good or bad? What's their system like? Do they accept Vista?

I have had no problem with communicating with Transcend. Got out of training on the second day, and I am on a very difficult account. None of it is easy, but I feel I have lots of help and support when and if I need it.
MDI [2008-08-14]
I think when most people refer to MDI now they are referring to MDI-MD. There is/was an MDI-FL, but since it is part of Transcend now (and has been for a while) I don't think it's differentiated much from them now. All these acronyms get a little confusing, I know.
won't get much better [2008-08-14]
as I found out. You're kind've on ur own with this company. When I started there was 1 hour of training and they put me on some reports and that was it. Maybe if they had put me on escription I would've had a better time of it but i'll never know now cuz tomorrow is my last day at Transcend after 9 mos. I tried to make it work but I'm more in the hole now than when I started. I practically begged them to let me know if I was doing an okay job. Once the ball finally got rolling I got a couple of emails from QA and daily emails from my team leader but its always just about how many jobs are on the system. The communication here is pretty bad. There are some good points with Transcend, just not enough.
I don't think there is a best company. [2008-08-14]
I think a company is what you make it. If you want your hand held, it sounds like Transcend does that. If you want flexibility, it sounds like MDI in Maryland is great. If you want to make a bunch of money but not be paid OT, it sounds like Keystrokes is the place to be. I guess Webmedx is a good company, but they run out of work sometimes (don't they all )... I guess you just have to apply, speak the recruiters, and figure it out for yourself because no one here really knows what you are looking for in a company.

I am fixing to find out if E-scription does or not [2008-08-05]
today. Today is the big day I start with Transcend. I am going to find out as well if I like to edit machines.

A few [2008-07-27]
Focus, Medware, Transtech, Charts in Time, OSi in GA, Superior Global, TTS (Transcription Technology and Support), etransplus, some of the Transcend accounts, I think New England Medical Transcription does.
Thanks guys [2008-07-27]
I appreciate the straight dope about this place. We all probably know what to expect with any national company, so we gotta look after ourselves ultimately. Medquist and Transcend have failed me pretty bad so I'm gonna try and do whatever I can (within reason) to make this work.
I'm hopeful.
Thanks again and thanks for the All Caps trick !
Which way to go [2008-07-23]
If you don't mind making 4 or 5 cpl go with Transcend! VR is taking over and it's grossly unfair! We're the work force. Without us, what have they got?
Can someone give info on Precyse VRs? [2008-07-22]
I have done ASRs before with Transcend andwith Transcendit would have been faster retyping the report. I would like somecurrent info on what it is likeworking on Precyse ASRs? Thanks...

I can tell you a little about Precyse [2008-07-20]
due to start this next week. So far, they are super nice. They offered me avery nice line rate. It was the best I have found so far. The platform is very similar to what Medquist uses, DQS, I believe. I have never worked on that to tell if I like it or not. They send you a computer to use. I got mine and it looks brand new. Their benefits look real good to me. Anyway, they are only hiring for nights and evenings. I have only seen how they score their QA. It looks like it might be more forgiving than where I am at but then I don't know. Precyse wants 98.5% quality. Where I am at they want 98%. It does not seem that they count off as much for certain errors but then I don't know if that makes a difference or not. They told me their quota is 5000 lines per week. They also told me I can put any kind of software on their computer to help me make quota which is very different from the hospital I used to work for. We could not so much put an updated dictionary or drug CD on it. When I left in 2007, we were still using one back in 2000.
The only thing that really bothers me about Precyse is that the only thing available is nights and evenings. I chose nights because I thought I could work while the kids slept and sleep while the kids were in daycare, but I am chickening out big time. Come 11 o'clock I am so tired I cannot keep my head up. I got another offer from a company that has daytime hours available but they are not getting very good reviews here. Transcend. That scares me. I am wondering if I should not just stay where I am at until something else comes along. I am just not happy with the account I am on. I want acute care, I got clinic.
BTW, I don't know anything about the other company.

No work is not the case [2008-07-14]
I know first hand that there is plenty of work to go around at Transcend. If you run out on one account, you switch to another. If you still run low you let management know and they will set you up with more work.
I know this because I was not happy on the account I was on and all I had to do was ask and I have been flooded with new accounts to work on.
Yeah, it's Escription. The line counts are just not there. [2008-07-14]
I'm going to stay with my PT job that uses Dictaphone and bag Transcend.
I just resigned after 8 mos. [2008-07-13]
It's hard to know what to tell you. There are some ppl on here who love Transcend and have all kinds of good things to say about it (they're the reason I chose to work there) and then there are the disgruntled employees who are obviously still very sour about their experience and to be frank I may be in the latter. I'll give you the skinny and give you the option or what to do from there.
Although the ppl at Transcend are very sweet, they can't guarantee anything. I was on a Meditech account but it took them a while to coordinate things thru the hospital. So in the meantime I had to work on MS Word and without any headers/footers or a ShortHand program to help I had to type every single word out. I built up the autocorrect as I went so it was at a snail's pace. (I just tried to tell myself anything is better than Medquist!). They sent me an antiquated piece of equipment (c-phone) so these conditions didn't give me a good feeling right from the start.
They finally get me hooked up with the hospital meditech and wouldn't u know it, it also is a completely outdated piece of software, probably 20 years old. So it's slow, lags, u get the picture. (I'm still happy not to be at Medquist) I'd worked on Meditech B4 so it didn't take me long to work it but it wasn't too long before I started running out of work which happens from time to time. As time went on I heard less and less from my TL and saw less and less work. There's no downtime pay there so if u want paid time off you have to use the PTO you've earned up till then and guess what - You have to be making your line count to earn it (and I wasn't). Same goes for benefits which as u know don't benefit u unless ur making line count. I'm required to get 6000 lines a week and i'm lucky to pull in 2000, Real Lucky. I've begged them to give me a secondary, this took them 6 weeks to get around to it. I spoke to someone on the new account and she told me horror stories like u wouldn't believe; submitted work mysteriously goes missing, cherrypicking, other ppl using ur ID, 80+ character lines instead of 65-character lines -- the list goes on. Plus you should see the Lanier they sent me - you would laugh seriously. I've given them all the chances I can afford to give them. I'm out of money, patience, time and tired of the excuses.
I've accepted another job and although it pays a little less/line, I'm SOOOOOO looking forward to leaving!
Now I'm not saying Transcend is as bad as Medquist - it's just a different kind of bad.
Mandatory Daily Line Counts.. [2008-07-10]
Can someone tell me whatthe daily/weekly/per pay period mandatory line counts are forfull time transcriptionists? (at the biggermedical transcription services, i.e., Transcend, Diskriter, MDI, etc.) Also, how much more does a CMT make these days? What about shift differentials and holiday pay? It seems only fair that if an MT works a major holiday, like Christmas or Thanksgiving, that they are fairly compensated, but for some reason I wouldn't be surprised if they are not.
Thanks a lot!
Little/no work... [2008-07-09]
You are not alone. Just remember there are plenty of companies and All Type pays for down time and they are just as friendly and even more so than Transcend and work with you until you are on an account that suits your needs and you can make a living on. I am sure this is not the only company out there that is better than Transcend too. Investigate and I wish you luck. The ROMs and TLs say that they rock but that don't pay the gas!!
Work [2008-07-07]
I feel you pain. I just left Transcend. Just when I put in my time and was about wo qualify for benefits, they started pulling all of the most productive work and sending it offshore (as explained to me by one of their VPs), because they claim that the offshore workers can only handle the easiest work. The rest of us were left with the crappiest work and with no work at all on many days. We were expected to be on line during our scheduled shift, even if there was little/no work available, and then put in as many extra hours as needed to achieve our line counts.
The account I was working on apparently did not want their work done offshore, but Transcend VPs told them that they told the account they could not get American workers to work, so had to send it offshore.
This just stinks.
I think the entire transcription industry needs to be more closely regulated. They just seem to think that they are not bound by the normal labor laws in this country.
Paid for downtime... [2008-07-07]
Paid for downtime with Transcend? We don't. We get told to flex out time out.
