That is NOT the issue at Webmedx. NOT AT ALL. [2009-06-24]
You must not work there.

If you fax a resume and/or test files do you follow with an email the next day? [2009-06-23]
Just curious what others do.

how worried should we be about Webmedx? [2009-06-23]
I also had that account as a backup and yes, we knew a long time ahead of time that it was leaving. However, I also do not have another backup account and my work on my primary is very slow and erratic. I have been on it for years and never saw anything like this. Looking for the general feel other employees are feeling about Webmedx. My STM is fairly positive but I am starting to be quite worried when reading here. Any thoughts? Time to start looking? Or just a rough patch that we will get through?

Webmedx [2009-06-21]
There is very low to no work at Webmedx so to preserve our jobs, they are not hiring at the moment. That is a good thing for us. Move on - been like this at Webby for a bit now.

The recruiters (pleural) test and fill applicants based on (sm) [2009-06-20]
what accounts have needs and whether your skills and shifts requested fit those account needs. Also, perhaps another recruiter filled the position they originally thought was open. I do know there are some new accounts coming on soon and I hope many of the more qualified applicants are tested and ready to jump on board with us when they do. It is a good place to work and worth waiting for an appropriate opening. Also, call the recruiter and ask more questions if you want. They certainly won't bite.

I guess they don't test plural/pleural? nm [2009-06-20]

Webmedx [2009-06-20]
I have known Jay Cannon (last I knew he was the COO of Webmedx) for many yeares and I have the highest regard for him. I don't believe he would allow any game-playing. I have no explanation for your situation but don't forget that more and more companies are getting more and more invasive into the private lives of their employees. I don't know about Webmedx but I know a lot of MTSOs are going so far as doing credit checks and background checks. If they do this, it is certainly something that might explain your situation. If they do this and there was something in your private life that didn't fit with their hiring requirements that MIGHT be the reason. Also, a lot of times recruiters are NOT MTs, so it is POSSIBLE that when she turned your test over to the supervisor, maybe you didn't do as well on the test as the recruiter first said. Most likely if you emailed or called the recruiter she would tell you what the problem was. It's a pretty safe bet none of us here can tell you the reason. It's hard for me to believe that any company would turn away a fully qualified, experienced MT who aced the test, hiring freeze or no. Please don't pounce on me, I have no idea and I simply offer the above as a possibility. Anyway, good luck to you in your search.

Webmedx [2009-06-19]
I recently appllied, test, the whole bit. Every time I got email from them I got excited. After all was said and done, I was told the same thing..........they would hire mewhen they had an opening in my field. It was not the reply I was hoping for but at least they did have the courtesy to reply and let you know the situation...........that, I think, says good things. Good luck!

Has anyone started with Webmedx recently? [2009-06-19]
I interviewed and was told they wanted to hire me but there were no openings. Supposedly I will be called when one opens up. This was a few weeks ago. I am so frustrated with my current employer and desperately want out! So, has anyone recently interviewed and then started fairly quickly? Trying to decide whether there really is a waiting list and to be a bit more patient, or to start applying elsewhere. Thanks!

Ominous pattern, WebMedX? [2009-06-19]
I recently posted this but will reiterate: Do recruiters get paid by the person tested? I applied in the past, was told no openings, then called right back and said yes we actually do have an opening, so I tested asap, passed that *and* the interview test and *then* told sorry no openings. So it makes you wonder if the recruiter gets paid by the interview... the other explanation is an inept process/processor so take your pick :)

Webmedx is abt the same - PTO includes sm [2009-06-18]
sick days or vacation time; holidays are separate.

I took the test too.... [2009-06-16]
And I passed, ALTHOUGH my typing speed was much slower than it generally is by LISTENING and typing rather than looking and typing. My brain has been programmed to listen so long, I can barely type by copying.

Webmedx question [2009-06-10]
What does Webmedx pay for voice recognition? I am with another company, and the 4 cents per line for voice recognition works out to minimum wage. I need a company that at least pays 70% voice recognition. Thanks in advance.

Webmedx [2009-06-09]
All I can tell is that I just tested for them, spent about one-and a half hours doing this. I passed this.Once your done with this, they have a questionarre to fill out that tellsthem A LOT about yourself. I thought it was a little daunting, but did it anyway. But.... they arenot hiring right now, for any positions. The test is VERY extensive. Once you have filled out the questionarre, they have further testing to take. Hope this helps

Has anyone put this to the test? (sm) [2009-06-08]
Meaning has it been proven the VR/editing can be done at double the rate of actual transcription? I am currently working mostly full-time VR work. They expect a certain amount of lines per day. I found out a lot of other MTs were doing great with their line counts, but in looking at some of their reports, the quality is going down. I have looked at older reports to find out what a doctor is listing as a medicine or something that VR wasn't catching and saw the poor quality that way. My line count isn't what others are getting but my QA scores are better. I don't understand why MTSOs are pushing for more lines at lesser pay when quality seems to be the biggest thing affected.

Webmedx no different than MQ [2009-06-06]
No work. Overhires. Tries to cram AHDI down your throat. Rips you off withISR which should be paid at whatever rate MT wasmaking before theyimplemented this mess; however, the only way they can make money on a reportfed through VR garbage and then needs an MT or as they like to call MCS to clean up the crap, is to rip off the trainedprofessional.

Webmedx pays very well for VR - probably the highest or close to it. nm [2009-06-05]

Webmedx and Pregnancy [2009-06-03]
Has anyone worked before, during, and after pregnancy with Webmedx? Thank you for your answers.

anotehr question about Webmedx sm [2009-06-02]
Do they supply equipment for part-time MTs. Do you HAVE to do VR?

Webmedx and raises? [2009-06-02]
Has anyone gotten a raise at Webmedx? My 1 year is coming up, and I am wondering if I should expect anything special or just be happy to have made it a year. Thanks to anyone who replies.

Webmedx [2009-06-01]
I've been with Webmedx for 6 years (been an MT for 32 as well) and I have to say that this company treats its employees like honest-to-goodness people! There is not an overwhelming amount of e-mails, etc., to go through every day -- I so appreciate just being allowed to do my job! My accounts are a tad slow right now just after the holiday, but I do manage to get all my hours in every week. Been with a few other companies before this and in my opinion, this is the best!!!

I think the 2 largest companies that do not offshore are Webmedx and Keystrokes. sm [2009-05-31]
Webmedx is in the $25m range with 750 employees and Keystrokes in the $20m range with 600 employees. I am not sure about SoftScript or Transtech but I do not think they are bigger than those two. I know that both have goals to be in the same size range as Spheris. I worked for Spheris in management for a while before coming to my senses and both companies were discussed frequently. I just hope that MQ or Accusis does not buy either of them. The rumor is that neither will even think of selling but $$$ talks and MQ still seems to have plenty even after losing the lawsuits AND after having a negative income for several years. Not sure how or why, but their pockets are deep, as are those at Accusis. Thoughts?

If the same recruiter is still there, I don't think you have to test for Transolutions. [2009-05-29]
I didn't have the best experience there, but I have a couple of friends who are still there. You should be able to find the contact information on mtjobs. If not, just do a search for Transolutions, Inc. If I remember correctly, they are based in New Jersey. Email if you have trouble and I'll get the contact information from my friends. I work for a great company if you're interested, but you do have to test. Great PTO, paid holidays, etc. Again, email me if you want contact information. Good luck!

WebmedX did the same thing... [2009-05-29]
...when they switched to VR. And editing sucks... You can barely make anything there now... And benefit costs went through the ROOF! What gets me is they're not telling their clients they are switching them to VR or charging clients LESS but they're ripping us off and in not telling the clients they don't dictate LIKE they are dictating for VR! They talk to you like you were a person still (2 years later). So it's a PAIN to edit...and you make pennies for producing thousands of lines... Time to start career training elsewhere. MT is a wash, after 15+ years of same. Only industry where pay has dropped continually over the past 15 years! :(

Google

Yes. [2009-07-03]
Particularly if you try FT at Webmedx.

Thanks so much for the info ... [2009-07-03]
Now I can completely understand why they would not respond to my request for information on pay. While I have never been paid by the gross line, I just do not see how 3.5 cpl gross line can equal out to 0.9 cpl or more. If someone out there knows different, please, please enlighten me. I was also not very impressed from the get go because they emailed a whole group of people the answers to the grammar test instead of the grammar test itself, then turned around and emailed the grammar test knowing that you had the answers. I wondered if this was not more of an honesty test than anything, lol. There was no actual transcription test, a grammar test, application (for which they wanted my SSN and my drivers license number and I am not comfortable giving those away to just anyone) and a questionnaire. Good luck to anyone who applies. I definitely will not.

same here [2009-07-02]
Same here--noticed several accounts are at 0 day after day -- lost accounts? I'm part time and having trouble getting 4 hours in. Can't imagine how it is for the full-timers. Up to now, I've been pretty satisfied with Webmedx.............up to now.

Anybody ever tested recently with Transportal? [2009-07-02]
I tested with Transportal and on the VERY beginning of the test (you know, the REALLY easy questions) it said I failed and suggested that I go to their partner company Career Step to better my transcription skills and try again. I went back and reviewed and looked up my answers and every single one was right. So, I went and took another test for them and AGAIN it did the same thing. Anybody else every experience this?

Transportal [2009-07-02]
I agree with the last post - call and chat with the recruiter. She is very nice and has had this issue going on for awhile. I had a friend who tested (seasoned MT) and failed! She was so devastated, but called and talked to the gal and is now working there. I took the test - knowing the answer to the one question that was messed up, so I ended up passing and now I too work there!!! Guess they should get that little issue figured out!!! Good company though!

Testing requirements often way to vague. [2009-07-01]
In defense of those experienced MTs who do not pass muster when testing with new companies (and we hear that a lot, that they just aren't up to snuff somehow), I have to say that sometimes the failure may not be with the MT at all. Some MTSOs behave as if the specific ways they want their tests done are the ways ALL reports are always done at every company in existence. A really experienced MT knows that there are MANY ways to transcribe a report (verbatim, modified verbatim, edit for clarity, for example). The MT can hardly be faulted if the MTSO demands absolute verbatim but the MT has always worked where editing for clarity (not being creative, but producing a superior document, IMHO)is the order of the day. I always have to roll my eyes when asked to test as if you know every detail of the BOS!! - when really the BOS gives very broad latitude to change/edit unclear and sloppy dictation. How are we supposed to know how any particular MTSO wants its reports done, unless it SAYS SO - and they rarely do. It's often a no-win situation for the MT - tweak the report to enhance clarity, and the MTSO is sure to want strict verbatim. Go strict verbatim, and the MTSO is sure to think they don't want you, you're way too rigid and the final report is unreadable because of dictator error that you faithfully transcribed. I always say, do the report the way you would want it done if you were the patient in question. If the MTSO hates it, you didn't want to work there and be asked to do what makes you uncomfortable, anyway. Eventually you will find an MTSO that appreciates your skill and is a good fit for your talent, so keep on testing, and don't let it get you down if they don't call back. Again, it may not be that you aren't proficient, but they are simply looking for a different style and neglected to tell you about it beforehand.

DIT [2009-06-30]
Any info on DIT? They had e-mailed me to test, and wanted to know if anyone had info before I decided to do it. TIA

That does sound familiar. [2009-06-29]
The first e-mail I got said I had 24 hours to complete their test. I work for Q now and thoroughly hate it.

Another reason to stay absolutely sm [2009-06-28]
up to snuff with what current standards are and what large MTSOs want to see. I've seen many people with 15-20 years in who can't pass a test because they are creatively editing what is dictated, transcribing incorrect or prohibited abbreviations, or making gross errors on their tests.

Hey VN don't let those [2009-06-28]
arrogant educated fools run you off. That's what they want so they can feel superior. People who are really knowledgeable (and mature) don't need to constantly puruse the internet looking for someone they can criticize. MTs are under pressure now like never before from Q.A. and hospital nobodies who have nothing better to do than get a magnifying glass looking for possible errors and I don't mean real errors either, I mean their definition of errors. If you've followed replies to my posts telling me to go back to painting gourds, go back to retirement, etc. etc. etc. you know I know what these nasty, not yet dry behind the ears folks are. In my opinion they not only really feel inferior in real life, they probably are INFERIOR. Certainly they need a job or something if they have nothing to do other than try to make other people feel bad. These people (if you can call them that) who say the nasty things to me get one of two things depending on my mood 1) Ignored or 2) They get as good as they give. For sure each and every one of them give me a good laugh because they don't realize apparently how incredibly ignorant they appear to those of us old enough to put our britches on by ourselves and that doesn't necessarily depend on the chronological age of the person. And just as an after thought, people who apologize for errors these boobs inform them of, annoys me only slightly less than those who make the criticisms. This is, or as I understand it, a board for MTs and/or those interested in MT, it's not a grammar/spelling/IQ test.

subcontractor [2009-06-26]
I am having a hard time finding employment. I have over 23 years experience and cannot pass a test on-line!

I am fed up with all of them. I test pretty good and still do not hear back.

After the initial phone interview, how long should it take to get the testing info? What happens after you test?

DIT -- Beware of their incompetence and unprofessionalism [2009-06-25]
Just in case anyone has applied or is thinking of applying with DIT, here is what happened today. I sent my resume in response to the ad on the job board here at MT Stars. I received an immediate reply from Bill Bakerand an inquiry asking me if I would take a test. I replied that I would. I took the test (which had an error in one of the questions, by the way!:)) and received the results with glowing commentsalong with an invitation to interview with the owner, Hadi Dani, by phone. I sent back my acceptance along with information on one of the answers on my test which was marked wrong. The answer I gave was correct, but rather than just saying that, I gave a detailed explanation of why it was correct (it was a grammatical question). (I missed two questions, total, including the one which was really correct.). Bill Baker wrote back to me that he does not have time to argue with anyone and that Word 2003 says that their answer is correct and that Word 2003 is the software of choice fortheir customers. That's just priceless!Rather than confirmingmyinformationwith a QA person, he just dismissed me entirely. It's astonishing how unprofessionalsome companies can be! You would think they would want to know the correct term! I even offered to show him the error on the test itself so that could be corrected, too. But I guess he would rather think he is infallible! Anyway, this experience combined with all of the information Isaw here at this board regarding DIT's tendency to bounce paychecks, makes me know that I wouldn't waste my time with this company anyway! I guess it's safe to assume that my phone interview is off! ******* DISCLAIMER *****************Postings of this nature are the poster's personal opinion should not be considered as substantiated by MTStars. DIT More from Dee [2009-06-25]
The intent of my post was to confirm this company as anot-so-goodone, in agreement with many other posts I have seen aboutit on this forum. I also intended it to be a helpful warning to others thinking of applying with DIT. Go ahead and defend their actionsif you wish. But there are all sorts of red flags to recognize when you are dealing with a transcription company which probably won't be good to work for. One of those red flags is their own accuracy andknowledge of medical terminology. Chances are, if a company isn't up to par on those things, then their testing materials and their own written communication will show it. You can see these things during the hiring process and weigh them while making a decision on whether to acceptthe job.A reputable company would never administer a pre-employment test with errors in the questions and also would not mark a well-known medical/grammatical term wrong, and ifit did, someone passing along the information that there is an error would be welcome, especiallyin the tactful manner I usedin that particular e-mail to Bill. As far as my pointing out an error such as this, my take is that when I transcribe a medical report and put my initials on it, that report needs to be accurate.DIT staff'sthinking that the medical/grammatical term in question is incorrect probably would mean that when they saw it in one of my reports after I began work, they would inform me that I have an error in my reports (and believe me, it would be in many reports as it is that common of a term and a very simple one), and the dispute would have come up then anyway. It's best to get that sort of thing ironed out right up front. In short, a transcription company not competent in medical terminology and/or grammaris notthe right fit for me. You may be someone who is fine with a correctterm being marked as incorrect, but I'm not. I mean, isn't making sure those things are right in medical documents part of whatour jobs entail? In addition, we as MTs take a lot of time in the hiring process and do our best to give a good showing on the many different tests which are required of us while trying to obtain work. The least the company can do is to have the correct answers and grade our tests properly. Anyone who professes to be a higher-up in a transcription company and who wants to supervise my work and tell me when I have made an error needs to know more about medical terminology than I do. Otherwise, we have the tail wagging the dog, which I know can be the case with many companies in this industry. But I, for one, am for standing up against that. I'm just glad I found out early on during the hiring process before I wasted any time in continuing with this company. As I mentioned before, all of their bounced paycheck issues in combination with my experience during the hiring process confirmed for me that they are not a good employer. I simply wanted to pass what I found out along to others to save them some time. Do with the information what you will. Perhaps it will help someone if not you.

also NSA this AM [2009-06-24]
I posted last night because I also am seeing a definite change in workflow over the last month and I have been with the company for several years. Does anybody have any info that we should know? Like I said, my STM has been pretty positive and helpful but I don't enjoy working around the clock in order to get my 8 hrs in. And so far I have not been promised any of the new accounts coming in. Should we be worried and out there looking? If so, is it any better somewhere else? From reading these boards, it looks like this is not a problem only at Webmedx. Would love any insider info.

maybe true for some but not sm [2009-06-24]
webmedx, they don't outsource anything, all MTs must live here, work here. at least that's what they've always told us. maybe the mtec thing someone else mentioned is on the right track?

Thank you so much [2009-06-23]
I think I'm going to take the test and see what happens.

how worried should we be about Webmedx? [2009-06-23]
I also had that account as a backup and yes, we knew a long time ahead of time that it was leaving. However, I also do not have another backup account and my work on my primary is very slow and erratic. I have been on it for years and never saw anything like this. Looking for the general feel other employees are feeling about Webmedx. My STM is fairly positive but I am starting to be quite worried when reading here. Any thoughts? Time to start looking? Or just a rough patch that we will get through?

Wow, just what I was thinking last night... [2009-06-22]
new company, new kid on the block, nothing but one dictation after the other of windy, whispering Indian female docs, me wondering if I'm the only one working (shouldn't be) or if it's deliberate to test me in some way. My head hurt from holding my good earphones tight to my ears to get the job done, even flipped my AC off (and it was near 90 here), longest 8 hours I've ever worked but baby, I got the job done. Hope tonight's better, ha-ha.

RI Transcription Solutions [2009-06-20]
I've searched the archives and cannot find any recent information on this company. Most of it is from 2006-2007. I was thinking of applying with them, but would like some input. I know I posted previously about leaving MT and going into general and legal transcription, but I thought maybe I could give one more company another try and see how it goes. I'm in the process of taking their test, and so far it looks fairly easy.
