Webmedx hiring? [2008-11-16]
Please, please do those of us who work at Webmedx a favor and do not apply. There is a consistently low work load and more hirings just takes more and more away from us. Going to be a bad holiday season for a lot of us......And will Webmedx explain this to our children?
WebMedX [2008-11-16]
Uh oh, I have an interview on Tuesday. If the work volumes are low, why are they hiring? Any advice? Should I cancel? How many lines are you Webbers able to get in a week? Do they pay decent? I am making 9.5 a line as an IC but wanted benefits and work volume ... am I going to get this here? Anybody???? Help!!
companies that appreciate us SM [2008-11-15]
I think maybe my company appreciated me for the first couple years. Then my pay was reduced through some clever reorganization that they told us we all loved!! The last time I e-mailed and asked about a raise for almost 7 years work they never answered me back.........

Webmedx & M-TEC [2008-11-09]
No maam!! M-TEC grads are not told any such thing! Weare, however, offered an opportunity to work on a Webmedx 5-day trial platform in the event we decide to make application to Webmedx. That is all. I just wanted to see what the company was all about. I won't even obtain my final grade from M-Tec until 11/10. I worked 2 years completing the M-TEC course. Upon graduating, and depending on what GPA we obtain, we are given a password into M-TECs Career Opportunity Center, where potential employers await and are willing to hire a grad without the previous 2 years experience. Their placement rate is 98%. The friends I made during the course all began working 1-4 weeks of graduating. I just don't know what I'm looking for yet - trying to decide.

Webmedx [2008-11-07]
I have recently completed M-EC Do theyoffer a good pay rate for newbies? I wouldnrequire medical insurance benefits from them, and I wonder if they would compensate in payrate? I am getting ready to do a 5- day Webmedx trial that M-Tec has just sent me, so that I can familiarize with their platform.
As of 10/15/08, MTEC and Webmedx will be working side-by-side, and I feel I will be graduating at a most opportune time to consider Webmedx as my first employer. I'd love to hear any feedback at all about Webmedx.
Thanks so much.

Here is a compiled list of Indian MT companies [2008-11-03]
http://mtherald.com/medical-transcription-companies-in-india-a-detailed-list/
Checkout this list. You've two more such lists on that blog, totaling three.
One thing you need to know with the Indian companies is that the rates are low and you cannot earn as much as you can in the US.
Your anger should be directed at the American Companies who outsource not (sm) [2008-11-03]
at the offshore employees who are also trying to make money for their families.
Yes. I will not work for companies which offshore. [2008-11-03]
If we all did that, the companies would have no choice but to come back and give us our jobs back.
Thanks for sharing your information LTMT! [2008-11-20]
Wow, you have been through a lot and I admire your ability to bounce back. I just know whatever company you choose to work with you will do well, and good luck on your move! Thanks too for the feedback on all the companies. I thought that E-Trans was very nice too, but decided in my heart I did not want shift work, and since it did not work out the first time (the ExText account), I would just pass. I am going to keep Encompass in mind for the future because they seem great like you said, and I have the quality but have been in this for so many years, don't want to be stressed out. Like you, I get insecure, and that is when I do worst. LOL.
I wish you all the best. For me, I am now going with MDI-MD and know that if I maintain my quality and my flexibility I can stay away from shift work. I think we all need to put priorities and what we need to do in life and then hang onto our decision. Rough seas, but if you hang on to the life boat the storm always passes and we always seem to make it.
Thanks for writing and all the best to you! :)
Line pay for Per Diem [2008-11-20]
Hi everyone. I was offered a job per diem at 7.5 cents a line. I am an acute-care with 29 years experience. I think this is entirely too low. People said that would consider increasing to 8 cents per line after a couple of weeks, but there is no guarantee. My hubby went through the roof when he heard how much they wanted to pay me.
I have a job right now that does not pay for spaces, rate is decent though 10 cents to 10.5 centers with no Sat work unless there is OT. I have another job offer where I have been hired to start in Dec which pay will be 9 to 9.5 cents working Tuesday-Sat first shift and now this per diem job. Per Diem job really offered me this jobfull-time, they have PT too but benefits were better at the job starting in Dec. I do feel I am worth more and I just wanted to use them PT just for pocket money. I told them I would try it for 2 weeks, and she said lots of MTs do that and then they go FT. They do pay weekly too. I am torn if I should even take this job at 7.5 as there is no guarantee they will give me more money. I would just have to trust them and if they do not I know what to do. Any advice. I am supposed to train today. I also have to decide if I want to stay where I am at 10 cents a line or go to a job that pays 9 cents a line with spaces counted and they do not care how long you work. My 10 cents a line job now does not let you go past 40 hours. Decisions, decisions.
Wrong foot [2008-11-20]
If you're saving reports, I hope there is ZERO identifying data in them. (Look up PHI and HIPAA)
Other than that, make up a flyer and cold call the medical buildings. Since it is the holiday, take a page from the Pharm Rep book and take a gift with you- cookies, etc-- they will remember that.
You also need to determine the rate being paid in your area. If you go in too low you'll be sorry and if you go in too high you'll likely get no work.
Good luck! Having your own accounts is 24/7 and the volumes are no more predictable, but you then at least have only yourself to hold accountable :)
My opinion [2008-11-20]
10 cents a line without spaces is only about 8 cents a line with spaces, I think. So if you've been offered 9-9.5 cents with spaces, I'd go for that. Meanwhile, you could try the 7.5 cents a line job for two weeks until the December job starts You said you'd try it for two weeks, and if they agreed to that, why not? Then you'll find out if they will raise the rate. If you like it, I'd keep it per diem when the December job starts, just in case that doesn't work out. Then you'd still have the option of diong that full-time later. Just my opinion.
Wondering [2008-11-20]
I was wondering about them, too. I am actually looking for a part-time position that will let me work when I want and for how long.I have a full-time MT position for a local hospital right now, and I am just looking for something to provide me with extra cash (especially right now before the holidays). If anybody knows if this company does that or not, please let me know! If they don't, does anybody know of any companies (not scams, of course) that I could do this with? Thank you!
they have been very firm lately, [2008-11-20]
if you make a committment, you are expected to keep it. We had an email regarding those who repeatedly failed to meet their lines, and they were told they'd be changed to prn status at a much lower line rate.
No bad stuff here [2008-11-20]
I really don't have anything bad to say about Transcend. they have been a great company for me, very flexible. In fact, any other company would probably not be as flexible as they have been. If you are struggling, they will work with you. They may outsource some work, but they are definitely not India. They are based out of Georgia. All of the team leads and managers are right here in the United States. IMO, one of the best and fairest transcription companies around.
I'm just curious, if any of you are supposed to be paid on a certain date sm [2008-11-19]
and that date falls on a Saturday, does your company pay you on the Friday before or the Monday after? I work for CardioScribes, and I am supposed to be paid on the 22nd, but unfortunately that falls on a Saturday so I am told that I will have to wait until Monday. I thought most companies paid you the day before, but thought maybe things had changed and this is now the norm to make employees wait even longer.
I work at MQ. s/m [2008-11-19]
In light of the very distressing news we just got yesterday about pay cuts, I still feel some comfort that I even have a job. Yes, the pay cut is totally devastating, but given the fact that it still beats a layoff, I'm trying to find the bright side of this dark cloud. I have friends at other MT companies who are not any happier in their own situations. It seems to be across the board, and so I am resolved to stay put, as I know the grass is not usually greener. My big fear is that this pay cut is a sign of worse times to come, and so for now, I will keep on keeping on. Good luck and Godspeed to us all.
I wish you luck. Do you have another MT job yet? [2008-11-19]
What other companies are or were you considering to move to from Transcend. Just wondering because I am a long-time MT and don't want to leave my job because of the economy yet, not making enough to pay the bills either.

Flooding of resumes on job posts [2008-11-19]
Sent a couple of resumes recently and getting an automatic answer from several companies that due to the influx of so many resumes, it will be impossible to even see them all. If I have more than 3 years' experience it will be kept in the file for 6 months until they get to it.
The most recent automatic answer I got was from a company which did not even put an ad out. It was one where I found great posts on another board after doing a lot of archive searching.
Is this because of recent MQ paycuts and problems, and because C-bay bought it out. Perhaps the time has come for the work pool to be flooded with more competition if the giant of MQ is finally seeing a walk-out. Also, the other biggies like Spheris and Transcend seem to be losing a lot of people.
Anybody have any idea on this? Not only do we have the influx of new graduates, and now the really experienced hospital MTs who have been with MQ for so long, but we also have India too... are the odds growing less that our resumes will even be seen, I wonder...
I just hope that all the MQ people and everyone here in the US finds a good home and soon. We all deserve a good job and I just wonder how we will get through this time. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, or just a good we are all in this together post would be appreciated.
amen [2008-11-19]
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER! Having the same experiences, and an old-timer, workined as MT for 40 years. I need to supplement SS, and cannot find much that I can stay with. Tried several companies.
Saw posts about this earlier with suspicion their testing was jacked up. (sm) [2008-11-19]
I figure if people who have lots of experience and have obviously tested for other companies and came off okay there must be something wrong
Sorry you wasted your time. Another, more reputable company deserves your attention. Go for it.
Work has been slow lately, but... [2008-11-19]
I was able to take on more secondaries and that did help the situation, so still able to make my lines. They're a pretty decent company, probably the best I have worked for in about 10 years. My main complaint is no salary increase after several years of working there, as if the economy hasn't changed dramatically in the last few years. MTSOs just aren't keeping up with today's economic demands and they most certainly do not pay according to experience (are there any companies even hiring at 10+ c/l anymore? If you know of any, please let me know).Let's face it, VR is a joke and only created for their benefit, not ours. They created it to avoidhaving to giveout real raises. By the time you finish formatting/editing these stupid VR reports, you might as well have typed it. It makes me often contemplate jumping ship butthere'sreally not awhole lot out there these days to move on to when no one is willing to pay based on how much experience you have.
To jlm and Others [2008-11-19]
I will be working on this platform for Keystrokes. Have you (or anyone else who could provide feedback) heard of transcriptionists working for companies other than MQ also having problems with DocQScribe? Could this just be specific to MQ?
I've already agreed to work on this platform, since I have limited options. While I do not want to hide my head in the sand, if others out there have had a more positive experience on this platform it would be nice to know, rather than going into the situation being scared of what's to come. Thanks.
What's with all of your rah rah posts? [2008-11-19]
I've been with Webmedx a long time. I like the company and I DO find it believable that the recruiter would be honest with someone who described a situation of being a sole supporter of their children. That's a plus, capiche?
I've been sitting here reading lots of your posts and thinking you're not on even keel here. Like I said, I've been with Webmedx a long time and like the company, but some people ARE having very real problems. It's not that they don't do acute care, aren't willing to do ESLs, etc. You're painting everything with a very broad brush and I'm finding your posts don't ring true. I'm with the company because overall they're the best out there, but they are far from being perfect. Some employees are running out of work. Some are struggling to meet their line counts. Some ask for extra accounts and are told nothing is available.
My suggestion to you would be to get a little humility and realize that your situation is not that of everyone else. Quit shooting down people and suggesting they're lying just because they're having a different experience than you. I've been here long enough to see that there are many different boats afloat and the view looks different depending on which boat you're in. And it's not necessarily simple or even possible to change boats at Webmedx.
Webbers = [2008-11-19]
Can any of you folks working for WebmedX tell me if you use your own computers? Hoping that is a yes. Thanks.
emails [2008-11-19]
I've gotten the emails on the weekends I have off sometimes that ask for everyone to come help, but if it's my scheduled day off and I have things going on I don't and no one has ever confronted me about it or asked me to explain myself. They just send out an email the next day that says thanks to everyone who pitched in yesterday. But you're right - keep the clients happy or the company may lose the account. That's true of all companies.
The good news is that... [2008-11-19]
there ARE companies paying 10 cpl now. Honest. I work for one as an employee paying me 10 cpl and I work for two more companies as an independent contractor and am paid 11.5 cpl. These rates are based on 65 characters per line including spaces. They DO exist. I won't name them though because I am currently employed/contracted by them and I do not discuss money/pay regarding those I am working for at present.
My best advice would be to have a good well-rounded resume includingproficiency with ESL dictators, do excellent on testing (check and re-check everything, time permitting), and when asked what pay rate you are looking for, don't hesitate to say it.
DocQScribe, SM [2008-11-19]
I have been using DocQScribe now for about four months and I love it. I think it is very fast, very efficient and very easy to learn. My ShortHand works fine with it, I can make my own templates, never have had any problems with it. And my line count increasedright away whenI started using it. I can look up past reports but you have to also have access to DocQRoute which some companies will allow and some will not. Just my experience.
Hey, nice to hear from you again. I would say Encompass is a very good sm [2008-11-19]
place to work. I wasn't working there full-time, but from what I saw, they have a nice benefit package, and the staff is very helpful and professional. The only kinda scary part is that they require 99.5% accuracy (or maybe 99, cannot remember). Fortunately, on my first QA thing before being released from QA, I did manage to achieve that (a little more actually), so I was relieved. I guess I just do not have enough confidence in myself. Unfortunately, they lost the account I was hired for, but they were looking for another one. In the meantime, though, my personal life kind of took a different turn, and I ended up moving from Kansas to Colorado, so I decided one job was enough for now.
As for eTransPlus, they are also very friendly, although much more disorganized than some companies. I was put off for a week and a half past the date I was hired to start, then when I did start, there were tech problems, then I did4 jobs or so and ran out of work ... that kind of thing. Again, when I decided to move, I just decided it was not worth the extra aggravation. Still, I would recommend either company.
There are still some good companies out there, although I hesitate to comment since my experience is not recent. I used to work for MDI-MD, and they paid VERY well at the time because you had to supply your own LD, and that was before the days of unlimited LD. I had 5 accounts, so managed to keep myself busy, but now I read posts about people running out of work, so I do not really know.
I have heard good things about Axolotl, and I applied, but the only opening is 3rd shift with 80% ESLs, so I decided not to do it. Their benefits are great, though - no deductible for BC/BS! And there is a $500 sign-on bonus too. Oh well ...
I talked to Acusis, and if you can overlook their heavy overseas connection, they have a nice benefit package as well. The pay is so-so. I guess no one ever pays me what I know I am worth.
If you run into a company you are interested in, feel free to ask me. I have been an MT for about 100 years now, so I might have worked for them!
Good luck -- hope you find something wonderful.
Branching out..... [2008-11-19]
Hello to all that are reading this posts. I would like to know the steps and procedures to getting out and gaining my own clients. I have to find a way to supplement income some how. I have a pretty good idea, but I don't know where to start. I have been out of work for 4 days in a row now. Christmas is approaching, but I pretty much have that covered. I would just like some work to fall back on or my own work to have, so I won't be so dependent on my job all the time. Any advice is greatly appreciated here. I have also saved all of my reports to show quality and proof of what I can perform. I have been applying at companies and some are not responding. Some are saying I didn't pass (which I really don't understand). My local hospital is hiring, but they are so picky. I use to work there in Radiology, so I know what that is like. I'm a military wife that has to stay at home because we are trying to cut cost and not send the little one to the daycare. Thank to all in advance for the response.
We are definitely in hard times...sm [2008-11-19]
And there are so many people being laid off and with no job period. Think of all the autoworkers as you said who you know have got to be getting laid off because the auto companies themselves are going under. I am thankful for the little job I have with the little bit of money I make. It isn't a lot but, my God, without it things would be a lot worse. My paycheck is a blessing. I wish it was more most of the time but I am thankful for it. I would never quit this job without knowing what I was getting into somewhere else.
I work at Alphamed. I have made posts on here before I am sure everyone knows that complain about the lack of work. I need more work but can't find anywhere hiring besides Focus that doesn't require 2+ years. I am so hesitant to leave Alphamed cause I work for the best people you could ever ask for. They NEVER bother me. They are so accomodating. If I need off it is no problem. I was given a raise last January without even asking after only 5 months with the company. I got a Thanksgiving bonus of $30 last year after only being there 3 months. That isn't a lot but who else gives Thanksgiving bonuses? I got a check for $50 for X-mas. So even though I am not happy with the low work they are a great company.
What platform do you work on? [2008-11-18]
I really love ExText and I know they do have accounts on that platform. I did apply and got to the interview stage but then decided to back out because of the bad remarks on this site. I certainly hope I won't be sorry. How is their cpl rate compared to others? Thanks.
