Working on a wireless laptop is especially great ,,,sm [2008-08-12]
during summer thunderstorms, no need to log off, just unplug power source and keep working. I use Vista with no problem. You just need to call support to guide you through the installation. I have also visited friends and relatives in different states and worked while there with no problem.
Working for MQ from both my own state and another state.... [2008-08-11]
I asked about this on the main board but I think I'd like some advice/suggestions/experiences from someone who works at MQ.
I'd like to visit my sister, who lives in the next state over, for 2 weeks at a time every few months. I was wondering if I could load Docuscribe on a lap top and continue working while I was there.
The people on the other board say yes this can be done. However, I'm still wondering whether I would need to inform MQ of my doing this for whatever reason. Is it even their concern at all? Or do I at least need to inform them that I'd be doing this? Would there be tax implications? Or would I just continue to be taxed as per my home state?
Just wondering if anyone here at MQ has done this and what your experience was with doing so. Thanks in Advance for any comments!
Starting with Keystrokes Monday, but still working [2008-08-08]
for MQ until I'm sure it works out. I hope, I hope, I hope it works out. They use DocQScribe so I don't have to learn a new platform which is why I have stayed at MQ for so long. Most of the other platforms are awful.
She was working off the clock. That's why she [2008-08-07]
deservedly so, as most of us agree. And for 3 months no less! Another poster mentioned an incident where she had to run to the ER and forgot to punch out. No biggie as stuff happens. The legal way to handle that was: first of all write your supervisor when you can. She said she came home and punched out and then worked for hours. If you can do that, you can write your supervisor. All you have to do is give your supervisor the correct times for your punches, what they should have been, even if there end up being 6. And you explain what happened and thank them for fixing your time card. There is never, ever an excuse to falsify your time card and work off the clock. Never. And I think we all know it, no matter what the excuse.
Working for MedQuist Again [2008-08-02]
Hi Everyone,
I've worked for Medquist twice and each time I quit because of having multiple accounts. The last time I quit I had over 25 different accounts. Can anyone tell me if they're still doing this? I'm considering working for them again. I've always been able to make more money with them than with any other company I've gone to work for.
Does anyone have a recruiter's email address handy? I really don't want to sumit a resume and all that again. Would really appreciate it.
Thanks much,
Brenda
just got a call asking how many hours i would be working from now to monday [2008-08-01]
just a heads up.
Anyone still like working for MQ? [2008-07-23]

THANK YOU! I'm working on this tonight. NM [2008-07-10]

Glad I Didn't End Up Working [2008-07-05]
I kept trying to force myself to log in (even though I technically didn't have to work). Not only do we get lectured for lines all the time, but God forbid the phone calls and it's a family member or (whatever), and the next thing you hear is how you started report A at X time, then were idle for X time, then it took you X-Xtra time to type an X-long report...Blah, blah, blah.
Cripes, it sounds like everyone's heading outta this place, no?

working more for line count. [2008-06-28]
I've noticed. In fact, I voluntarily gave up my insurance. I was told it would look better if I voluntarily gave it up instead of them taking it away. I don't much care anymore.
Working More For Less [2008-06-27]
I hear ya! I worked my BUTT off this last PP! I did more lines than ever before, and my check was literally embarrassing!
If I could make what I was paid in the hospital setting (up until 1998), I'd be thrilled!
We're getting SOO screwed with our eyes wide open. They have noconscience in my opinoin. Just pitiful! It's a joke, but the joke's on us!
I never minded working holidays, either [2008-06-25]
when the work was available. I have always worked at least 2 hours minimum on Christmas and Thanksgiving and 4-6 hours on the other holidays. My family lives close and I feel lucky that I don't have to travel to be with them, thereby allowing me to cover so that other MTs that have to travel can be with their families.
I also felt that the changes in 01/2006 really hurt those of us willing to commit to more hours. I used to average about 12,000 lines per pay (considered full-time before the change) but soon realized it wasn't worth it and dropped down to PT. Since the only benefit I took was PTO, I was able to do this. But even as a PT employee, I felt penalized, which is when I started my job search.
My only regret since leaving MQ is that I didn't do it last summer when they instituted the cesspool. I spent too many nights fretting over whether or not I'd have my primary. It was just ridiculous. As long as MQ continues down its path, it will continue to lose good employees.
Are you working another FT job and MQ flex? (sm) [2008-06-25]
I think you are wise to do this, I just don't know if I can cope with too many hours. (getting old and crotchety here).
Spoke too quickly. It is not working. nm [2008-06-23]

When you send the report you are working [2008-06-13]
on a box pops up asking you to download, log off, etc. In the lower left hand corner of the box you need to check that box first and then log off. This will send the long upcoming report back into the pool and you won't have to break or abandon it. I'm sorry but I can't remember what the text is beside that box. If you only have 12 minutes left of your shift I wouldn't worry about and just make it up when you work again. I would hope your PS would not have a problem with doing this. If your PS does, I would complain to the Manager and/or Director or send a complaint to mtquestions at Medquist dot com. HTH
I could not get in for two days. It is now working, 06/12/2008, 7:00AM Pacific time.nm [2008-06-12]

PT flex working extra [2008-06-07]
I know some part-time flex and they even call them to work extra and I understand that if the national accounts are behind (not their primary) but yet they let them stay on primary account still for the extra hours as I am sure that you are staying on for 2 more hours to do your primary and then when I get on the next morning early (2 hours ahead of the account I work on even opens), there is none of my primary in their and I have to get in the C-pool. If they call you guys to work extra, or you just work extra, then it should be on the accounts that are behind, not your primary. Do you ever get in the C-pool for those extra hours you are on? I think it is unfair because the rest of us end up in the C-pool all the time. The part-time flex I know never get C-pool and if they do, they just get off. Very unfair.
Why do you find yourself working [2008-06-05]
on so many accounts? Because you work for Medquist.
I for one would like to take a moment to thak QA...sm [2008-08-20]
I am an MT/ME, and there is no way I would want to nor do I think I could perform the QA position. You have to listen to stuff that no one else can understand, weed through a lot of noise in the background, etc., etc., you know, the stuff we have all screamed, pulled hair and nearly cried to get through. Can anyone imagine that being ALL you get all day? You know how we complain righteously about difficult dictators, poor sound quality, stupid ASR, etc., etc. AGAIN, could you imagine this being all you do all day long, every single day, and then have to get berated and dogged because you have to do your job?? No one likes to be criticized, but before QASAR,QA had to figure out a way to let the MT know what they did wrong every single report without offending or negative feedback. I for one am glad QASAR is here as it gives QA a tool to correct mistakes and generic feedback set up by a program, not QA's personal comments. I have contacted my QA Team Lead with a few questions about QASAR and waiting for some answers like how the system figures feedback points, etc. Later post to follow when I get info. From what I understand here, QA does not control this feedback. I can see where that is true from some of the feedback I have received.
As for a QA person saying they get paid to find MT/ME mistakes, maybe they were just trying to get a point across, being sarcastic or just having a bad day and taking it out on MTs. Who knows, and you guys well know you cannot put in stone everything that is said on this board, it would be pebbles with all of the different answers given for each question or comment.
I for one appreciate the hard work that QA does. You know that old saying, don't shoot the messenger. We are all under a lot of stress, so MTs and QA really need to work together, and quit bashing each other. I have never seen such bad bloodlike this before. Both positions require a very high level of professionalism and charisma. Of course, you also know the old saying one bad apple can spoil the whole barrel. We all work hard on both ends to produce accurate quality reports to the clients. On this end, I keep asking when we are going to get the forum in MQC where we can go and actually help each other with words, difficult dictators, etc., etc. It is supposed to be in the works right now. Who knows when it may actually come about.
I am not saying we should walk around with blinders on, assuming all is well and nothing bad is ever going to happen. All I am saying is appreciate each other and make the best of the situation we are in. We should be working together, not blaming each other. QA and MT positions do not set the rules, we just have to figure out the best way to abide by them.
I hate sending in reports with any blanks at all, much less swiss cheese, but I know on that other end there is a person who will do their very best to make sure the report is its highest quality possible.
Thank you QA for doing such a great job!
First of all the audio problems have [2008-08-20]
been going on since the age of dawn and they know where the problem areas are and what hospitals are the worst but simply won't spend the money to fix the problem because they don't have to put up with it or try to work from it.
Secondly the problems with ASR have been reported over and over and over again at our own time and expense. The ASR system is only as good as its programers and some ASR systems actually do work a lot better than ours. I know this for a fact because ever since the cesspool thing began there are times when I will get ASR from a totally different area and their ASR is about 90% better than what we have been working with in my area since the get go. The same errors are occurring now that occurred when we all first started ASR in this region and in fact our ASR system has actually gotten worse over the past 6 to 8 months and not better. If the ASR system actually worked the way it was supposed to then the 30% cut we took in pay wouldn't be so bad because we would actually be able to get more work done, but the way it is we can pretty much type the reports faster ourselves than correct ASR....
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this picture?????
to Brilliant [2008-08-19]
Guess what, just this minute I too got a request to apply to MQ as they are interested in me working with them!!
Advice [2008-08-18]
Any advice you can give me on where to apply? I am currently working as an in-house MT. Have lots of experience have worked as an in-home MT prior to this. I am very confused as to where to check. Anxious would be a better word actually!
Thanks

i received an e-mail from the Medquist Staffing Team, encouraging me, based on my qualifications, to apply for a job as a medical transcriptionist!!!!
uh, hello, morons, i've been working for you almost 2 years now, and you suck, and i'm looking for another job!
unbelievable.
Nigeria?? [2008-08-16]
My English or spelling may not have been correct in your expertise, however, after working 10 hours for this MQ (wonderful company) and not getting any kind of decent compensation and then doing hours of research, I really could care less what your simple mind has to think about it. This could be your loss.
I have 14 years experience and excuse me if I mispell a word after being sooo tired.
QUIT ALSO [2008-08-16]
My pay check kept going down and down, about $1000 a month. So I finally bit the bullet and gave notice the end of June and my last day was July 10, then I took myself out for a long weekend of day spa, shopping, and a 2-night stay in a hotel BY MYSELF. Then started a new job July 14. Good change. Actually got an account that I had previously worked on at MQ. Guess they are all seeing the light and moving to different services also. It just happened to be one of those in the cesspool for MQ though. But as of next week I am getting a new account, which will have the OP reports I have been waiting for.
Have to say though that the pay right now is not a whole lot better than my last months at MQ, but then I think that is the way it is going to be all over from now on.
So congratulations to all of you that have made the move, and good luck to those still left, and wishing they could make the move. It will all turn out for the best. If this company does not work out, and I should have a better idea in the next month or so, after I get more established in a new account, I will be leaving this profession after 35 years and going to an out of the home job working as a health aid in my mom's assisted living apartment. Ican make about the same wages I am getting now, busting my butt, and I will actually enjoy the job.
Still love to come into this forum and read all the chats and sit back and smile because I AM OUT OF HERE.
Poor chick is tired [2008-08-16]
My typing skills and grammar are very good. I am just tired and aside from working full time, I am trying to get something else going at the same time, as well as running a family. I have been doing this a long time in may different fields and you of all people should not judge me because you know how hard it canbe. I am not trying to blow up your skirt, but please do not down me. If you are not interested then just do not reply. Poorchick

Hi,
Before I get totally irritated, can someone tell me how to get into the new email? My desktop shortcuts are not working right now and I don't have time to reboot my computer.
Thanks!
anyone feel their pay has not been adequate [2008-08-15]
is there anyone but me who feels their pay has not been adequate over teh last year, especially with overtime while working with MQ.
Antivirus [2008-08-15]
My suggestion is that you try Quickheal Antivirus, which is working great, finds and repairs latest threats and worms. You can try out an evaluation version before going for a full version.
don't see it [2008-08-15]
the pay stinks, but i'm not with ya. they are paying me what they have always said they would pay me.....pennies for working my butt off.
with the civil suit [2008-08-15]
that started with 3 Transcriptionist a few years back? Anyone know? It still applies to the ones working up to date. I read on one websitethose MTs weretrying to get them for docuscribe platform as far as not being paid correctly but somehow it was let go I think by the 3transcriptionists.not sure why though.
My pay picked up after I got a new job [2008-08-15]
After I started working for my new company, within a few weeks my pay was back up to where it was before DocQScribe with MQ. Wow was I happy! One account, an incentive program I could decipher without the use of a code book, very little ASR, 2 cpl less for what ASR there is, and working with people who would actually talk to me ... it just felt like heaven. My worry headaches and sick feeling about work are gone. It's a good feeling.
Last day today! Bye bye MQ. sm [2008-08-15]
Tired of being micromanaged by people that can't manage in the first place. Got a warning email from super yesterday (to all MT's in my region) about sticking to schedule or facing termination, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah.
So this morning, my last day, I got up, got the newspaper, walked past the computerand went back to bed. My bad.
Go ahead and fire me. I'm already working someplace else with better hours and better pay and benefits.
Ihave never heard a word back from anyone at MQ during my two week notice. That is probably due to the mass exodus.
Making up lunch breaks [2008-08-14]
I was told just recently that when I take time off, i.e., lunch break, that I will have to make that time up towork the hours I committed to as MQ is now checking very closely to make sure we work the amount of time we said we would.I was told I would have to notify my PS what days and times I will work to make up the time. So,yes MQ does expect us to work overor an extra dayto make up the lunch break or any time that is under our committed time. MQ does not give us paid lunch breaks or 15 or 10 minute breaks. I have never worked at a place like this. It is absolutely ridiculous. I have worked at 9 hospitals and 3 home MT jobs and never have I dealt with something like this. I have a friend who just started working for MQ and she is asking me what is going on with this company. She too is astonished.
Check your state laws. As an employee, [2008-08-14]
you have the right in my state to a 15 minute break, on the clock, for every 4 hours worked. I don't know of a company that pays for lunch breaks, that is why in an office if you are working 8-1/2 hours you get 1/2 hour for lunch; scheduled for 9 hours, then 1 hour lunch most places.
I'm starting to figure out why my line count is lower than some. [2008-08-14]
Everyone keeps logging out of Etime while they're working while staying in DQS.
I've been on the clock for breaks, lunch, reviewing reports, everything, and was beating myself up for getting 200 lines per hour. I guess I should have been feeling pretty good about that.
So those 300-400 line counts are for clocking out on every little thing, right?
I agree [2008-08-14]
one of my exsupervisors sent an email out stating that you should not be logged in to etime while notphysically typing. it was as descriptive to say you should not be eating at the computer askeystrokesare counted while you are logged into docuscribe and E time and it couldlower your pay rate such as for pto. This was after he found out people were being logged in for 8 hours but actually working only 5 hours! This was about 6 months after statutory turned employees. I do not know about the rest of you but every 6 months my PTO rate is either a little higher or lower than before so after those experienceswhat is thebig deal about logging offbecause like you said you are not typing the whole time. I am just replayingthe voice pedal and maybe filling in a blank.

just got an email from PS... [2008-08-14]
and he says that yep I have been doing it wrong all along and it looks like I consistently abandon reports. I have been here since December and have never once checked that box (as I said before, training was not very informative) and no one has EVERsaid anything to me! WTH??!?? No one could've told me a really long time ago?? I would have thought if they thought I was just abandoning reports for the hell of it that they would have at least talked to me about it. Whatever.
I also don't like that we have to do other things off the clock, like check QASAR, etc. I'm sure if I tried to do that while punched in I'd probably get fired for etime fraud cuz I wasn't actively working! As if I have sooo much time after/before work to be doing 'work' stuff and not getting paid for it!!
I wonder if the "suits" and other [2008-08-14]
management are working every single minute they are punched in They get hourly pay or are on salary and I have been worked in offices and hospitals for many, many years and would bet the farm that they sit around and gab, go to the bathroom, make phone calls, go on business lunches for hours at a time, and whatever and still get paid, yet they are afraid that we might not be working every minute of every shift. The reason for the panic with making us work is because we bring in the money. Without the MTs there is no MQ no matter what they say because bottom line is patient reports are what pay the bills for MQ....I will also give a year of my salary that they never, ever make up time if they aren't strictly working their hours...JMHO...
I clock out if I am going to be out for [2008-08-13]
more than 10 min. or so, but clocking out every single time you get up is ridiculous. I have done that since day 1. And with regards to the one who was fired, we were told a long long time ago you don't stay on the clock if not working, if work runs out, etc.
i found out first by the other company that was taking the account offering me a job [2008-08-13]
which i didn't take, even though i really can't stand working for the Q anymore.
time in an office [2008-08-13]
i cannot even express how much i miss working in an office....hopefully this job that i'm applying for will come through....but the idea of getting paid by the hour again sounds like heaven after this horrible MQ experience. i think i would have been happier working on an assembly line putting bottle tops on bottles or something than the ridiculousness that is MQ.
when you work in an office, not only are you allowed to stay 'on the clock' when you go to the bathroom, but also to get up and walk around and visit briefly with actual people. people who will answer your questions, support you, encourage you. Medquist doesn't seem to know what any of those concepts mean.
instead, they set you up to fail, no matter how positive your attitude or how hard you work. its all about sabatage, pure and simple, all your efforts, sabataged by the holy Q.
