In appreciation of QASAR, [2008-08-20]
I just started another company who uses DocQscribe, but not QASAR. All the feedback is sent via e-mail. I prefer the QASAR much better. Easier to view, stay within the same program, feedback is a lot faster, and more standardized. I never thought I would say I like QASAR.
Check your state laws. As an employee, [2008-08-14]
you have the right in my state to a 15 minute break, on the clock, for every 4 hours worked. I don't know of a company that pays for lunch breaks, that is why in an office if you are working 8-1/2 hours you get 1/2 hour for lunch; scheduled for 9 hours, then 1 hour lunch most places.
It's midnight and I just checked my bank - mine check is there. So ..... [2008-08-09]

pretty long but interesting. I lost the spot but somewhere it stated for the aquisition to take place that cbay has to offer MQ full ownership. Its getting pretty complicated.

Supposedly, the acquisition is conditional on the passing of a resolutionby shareholders at an EGM, to be held on Aug 5. How ironic.

last check [2008-07-22]
I am out of here, and will get my last check on 7/25 also. I did receive a letter from MQ stating my last check was coming, but did not mention anything about the incentive bonus, but that they will be paying for my PTO that I had left. They were really quite unclear about anything. Just that I am done and gone. And it feels great.

today? Ridiculous pay. Over 12,000 lines used to be a decent check, at least 800-900 net, NOT anymore. Thank you ASR and MQ. Bitter? Yes. Going to do something about it? Yes.....so no flames please. Venting.

As far as a bonus...well I haven't seen a pay stub in about 3 months so I have no idea about that. Suppose I need to call payroll if I can navigate all the crap, figure out which site it's on,and find a phone #. Ican't see my check online because I don't have the info to enter to do so.

medications and spell check [2008-07-09]
How do you like the way the spellcheck with DocQScribe brings up both capital and non-capital medicines to confuse us more. I used to have a Stedmans that knew the correct, now I just get confused. Go figure with MQ
I think... [2008-08-20]
I think we mean that our job is to find words and we get paid for our job. The OP sort of came across like we get paid extra if we find a word the MT didn't. Not so.
Most style issues are in AHDI, but of course, then there's the client who wants it their way, and then of course Dr. So-and-So wants it his way. If you have a good handle on AHDI, then check the CP for exceptions, you'll be in good shape in terms of style.
First of all the audio problems have [2008-08-20]
been going on since the age of dawn and they know where the problem areas are and what hospitals are the worst but simply won't spend the money to fix the problem because they don't have to put up with it or try to work from it.
Secondly the problems with ASR have been reported over and over and over again at our own time and expense. The ASR system is only as good as its programers and some ASR systems actually do work a lot better than ours. I know this for a fact because ever since the cesspool thing began there are times when I will get ASR from a totally different area and their ASR is about 90% better than what we have been working with in my area since the get go. The same errors are occurring now that occurred when we all first started ASR in this region and in fact our ASR system has actually gotten worse over the past 6 to 8 months and not better. If the ASR system actually worked the way it was supposed to then the 30% cut we took in pay wouldn't be so bad because we would actually be able to get more work done, but the way it is we can pretty much type the reports faster ourselves than correct ASR....
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this picture?????

so right Belle [2008-08-19]
I have to agree with you, well said. Only non MTs would spend all their time coming up with crazy bonus ideas (back to school anyone?)to try to encourage an already disgruntled group to squeeze out more lines so they might take advantage of the bonus.
I mean did they actually sit down and figure out that to earn the maximum $500 of bonus meant 18,000 plus lines OVER AND ABOVE their quota in 4 days. Um, yeah, I don't think management thought that one out, just a nonMT coming up with creative marketing ideas. Who cares if it isn't achievable, right?
Sorry Belle, I don't think you are wrong or ugly or whatever. Sometimes the truth just is ugly.
health insurance [2008-08-18]
I know this info is probably posted on qnet somewhere but I thought I would check here real quick as to my question of benefits. If meeting production for full time can you sign on to benefits at any time or are there periods out the year that you can choose health benefits. I thought I remember that you only had june and september to enroll. Does anyone know if this still holds true? TIA!
Advice [2008-08-18]
Any advice you can give me on where to apply? I am currently working as an in-house MT. Have lots of experience have worked as an in-home MT prior to this. I am very confused as to where to check. Anxious would be a better word actually!

So, you can laugh and make jokes while I spend a little time and effort that might pay off for me and you'll be sitting their in your work.

QUIT ALSO [2008-08-16]
My pay check kept going down and down, about $1000 a month. So I finally bit the bullet and gave notice the end of June and my last day was July 10, then I took myself out for a long weekend of day spa, shopping, and a 2-night stay in a hotel BY MYSELF. Then started a new job July 14. Good change. Actually got an account that I had previously worked on at MQ. Guess they are all seeing the light and moving to different services also. It just happened to be one of those in the cesspool for MQ though. But as of next week I am getting a new account, which will have the OP reports I have been waiting for.
Have to say though that the pay right now is not a whole lot better than my last months at MQ, but then I think that is the way it is going to be all over from now on.
So congratulations to all of you that have made the move, and good luck to those still left, and wishing they could make the move. It will all turn out for the best. If this company does not work out, and I should have a better idea in the next month or so, after I get more established in a new account, I will be leaving this profession after 35 years and going to an out of the home job working as a health aid in my mom's assisted living apartment. Ican make about the same wages I am getting now, busting my butt, and I will actually enjoy the job.
Still love to come into this forum and read all the chats and sit back and smile because I AM OUT OF HERE.
got it! [2008-08-15]
yep, pretty much right -- if you're not typing and on the clock it's cutting into the line count and that's what just gets my goat when I've taken an hour to do one of those DICK-TADER'S reports and have to go all the way back thru to try to knock out a bunch of those 20-50 blanks (sure did send a few with 50+ blanks). there's been time when it's just pissed me off so much that I'll send it without going back thru as I think what's the use and besides I'll spend another 15 minutes or so trying to figure out a word and there goes my line count down the toilet. with the crap that we get and the DICK-TADERS that we get who obviously don't care they really don't deserve a second run-thru, but then ya know that QA's going to have to put up with the same thing so I usually do go back thru just because I've always been one that it bothers to have blanks, much less that many, but ya know sometimes ya just gotta and QA people on those days I do apologize.
right there with you [2008-08-15]
As I just noted below, my check was down about $1000 a month for over a year, and no one would do anything about it or tell me why, so I finally, after waiting too too long, I quit. Then they want to know why?? Hello??!!! Anyway, what can one do about it? They are just majorly screwing us. Not sure what is to be done besides getting the heck out. But you know what? It is not much better anywhere else, at least not that I have found. They either screw you with ASR at a very low rate for all the corrections that are needed to be done, or they screw you with low line rate and bad dictators. that is just the way of the land anymore. I am considering going to work at my mom's assisted living for $10/hr and actually like my job. As of yesterday, I was making about $9.50/hr somewhere else. I was making $24/hr about 2 years ago. Anyone have an answer? Let me know, too.

Advice on virus protection, spyware, etc. NEEDED! [2008-08-15]
I have been having probs for a long time so now I run scans every night before work and that seems to have helped. I run Spybot and AdAware. I do update these. I also have McAffee that came with my MQ comp. (I also do the regular comp. cleanup stuff on a regular basis)
Last night I was unable to work because, even after running the scans, I couldn't do anything at all because Antivirus 2009 kept popping up and preventing me from doing anything. I ran the scans again, turned off the comp, etc. Nothing worked. I even tried deleting it from the list that comes up when you click on start. There was an option to remove it. I did that. It said it was successfully removed, but it wasn't. It wasn't in control panel under 'uninstall or remove....'. So I called MQ tech support. I couldn't even access any page long enough for her to get into my comp. She said it was a virus and now they are sending me a new comp.
I turned the comp off and this morning got back and it was still there, however, I was able to download Malware Bytes, which is what she wanted to do last night but we couldn't. Ran that scan and fixed the problem. Whew! Long I know but just wanted to give details so you knew everything I already do.
My ques is....Is there anything better or anything else that I should/could be doing? I thought running Spybot and AdAware, as well as having McAfee, that I wouldn't have any probs. Now it looks like I'm going to be running 3 scans every day!!! Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated. Now I have to work ALL freaking day to make up my hours! My husband just lost his job so I can't afford financially (or emotionally!) to be short any amount of $!
My next ques......I was totally freaking out last night because I have soooooo much info in MS Word and on the notepad that I use daily for work.Sample reps, etc. I guess I should buy something to save all that info to in case this should happen again but I'm clueless on that sort of thing. What do you guys recommend that is good but in a very, very affordable price range? as $ is tighter than tight right now. I'd rather spend the $ on that than spend money on a prescription for antianxiety meds if this should happen again! LOL With hubby out of a job and me making peanuts, my stress level has gone through the roof!!!
Thank you!

Me, Too [2008-08-14]
I've yet to be able to put one of my own sample reports into an expansion. Of course, a string of words is fine, but to put dictatorXreport and have the thing go into the expansion, much less end up on the screen. Of course, I know the rule about not doing it, but let MQ try opening my check. Better yet, let them make a trade with me a few times and see how it feels.
Another MT friend of mine said the same thing. She can't figure it out, either.
Looking forward to hearing opinions. Thanks.
I have been with MQ for years...sm [2008-08-14]
and have no trouble saving expansions. The basic concept is really about the same with most of these programs, save a phrase with characters you can easily remember so that when you type these characters, your phrase will be inserted. From what I have seen, some of the programs can get expensive and take quite a bit of time to set up. The DQS expansion program is really not too bad if used correctly, and it is free!
As far as losing your expansions, maybe you are not completely saving them. I learned this the hard way after losing several expansions myself!
1. Highlight entire phrase, whether it is two words ora whole page.
2. Hit control E.
3. Type in the replace box what you want to call your phrase, ex: bid for b.i.d., tpwaf for the patient was admitted for, etc.
4. Hit Alt A for add.
5. VERY IMPORTANT: Hit Alt C to close or click on close. Do not hit esc orthe red x on the expansion box.If you do not close the expansion box like this, sometimes it will not save the expansion.
Try this, and then if you still want topurchase an expansion program, go to the websites of the different ones andcheck them out. I decided to stick with DQS as it works for me and I have thousands of expansions. I have never had a problem withit getting too full, and I have a lot of repetitive expansions such as tpwa, tpwaf, tpwat, tpwao, all for the patient wasadmitted for, to, on, etc. and even whole report expansions for dictators who say the same thing over and over. The thing about using these expansions is you must really pay attention to what the dictator is saying. You can't leave in paragraphs if they don't say them, that was the problem with MTs using these. I am not telling anybody to use these or not use these, just letting you know why it was suggested not to use them.
Hope this helps!
ASR [2008-08-14]
Well, to clarify my post, I feel I am more PRODUCTIVE on ASR. I don't have to get up every hour to walk around and wake up, I don't get as frustrated with the dictators, and my hands don't ache as much. Iamphysically and mentally able to spendmore time on the keyboard with ASR than I do with straight transcription.
But that's just me.
Thanks! That's very helpful....sm [2008-08-14]
Thanks a lot for the info. So far I haven't saved any entire reports or templates. I've only got small words and phrases with an occasional long sentence. I wasn't sure exactly how to do that or if it was even possible with DQS. So all this time I have been typing out the same thing over and over again! lol! Hopefully now my production will go up! The other thing is, a while ago I read on here how to print your expansions but I couldn't make it work so I ended up writing them all out on paper a little at a time during reports (since I don't think you can access them unless signed into DQS, right?). Now I have them all in front of me in a notebook for quick check when I forget what they are.A lot of time wasted I know but I'm hoping this way it will help me remember them easier and quicker.
Am I the only one or does anybody else find themselves typing in their expansions when just typing a regular email, etc.?? LOL.
QA review [2008-08-14]
So yesterday, another day from hell, and get my favorite dictator, motor mouth, for my last report who happens to be on 100% QA for all. Expected to be picked apart, as usual, for a coma here, an or a or stupid stuff. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO this report went through QA and they corrected absolutely nothing this time, but did not send this for my review or pat me on the back for a good job.I had to go check myself. Bad ones alwaysthere waiting for me to review and sign off. A little kindness goes a long way QA, especially with all us unhappy bees here in the hive.
I agree [2008-08-14]
Common sense would almost tell you to check it but if they never explained it to us properly say in an email whenever people were trained on it not everyone would know the proper way of signing off. I was told about it in docuscribe training session but I guess that could have been missed by some since those sessions can be somewhat boring.Since being on docuscribe now for about 4 years I have never really heard so much about it as I am lately. I would hear aboutit here and there a while back but not to this extent. Maybe more newbies not knowing about it is causing more of this to happen??
just got an email from PS... [2008-08-14]
and he says that yep I have been doing it wrong all along and it looks like I consistently abandon reports. I have been here since December and have never once checked that box (as I said before, training was not very informative) and no one has EVERsaid anything to me! WTH??!?? No one could've told me a really long time ago?? I would have thought if they thought I was just abandoning reports for the hell of it that they would have at least talked to me about it. Whatever.
I also don't like that we have to do other things off the clock, like check QASAR, etc. I'm sure if I tried to do that while punched in I'd probably get fired for etime fraud cuz I wasn't actively working! As if I have sooo much time after/before work to be doing 'work' stuff and not getting paid for it!!
My expansion file kept getting scrambled sm [2008-08-14]
each time I had a power glitch and an older file was overwriting the good one I had saved. Tech support helped me out there and advised I get a battery backup for the computer. Did that and also got a surge stopper put on my house. Hope that works.
However, my supervisor said a former employee's expansion file got scrambled because it was too big. Mine is huge and I wonder if that is my problem.
How does that check box for standards work in the expansions dialog box? Is that a way I can move some of my larger expansions, such as sample op reports, there? Maybe that will solve my problem. When I check that box, the with box darkens, but I can't do anything with it.
When I sign off from DQS, it seems like it takes an awfully long time to save my user.aco file. This is another reason why I think the file might be larger than manageable.
Your help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
(I work for a hospital, BTW, not MQ. Our supervisor and QA person are the only ones who manage/edit the standards files that we access only by using alt-S. These are standards provided by them.)
Thanks, again.
Giving Kudos [2008-08-14]
Unfortunately, QAS people not only have to fix reports (we can spend 1/2 to one hour on a 100% MT who requires a lot of changes--particularly with dumb QASAR), but we have to send an e-mail to cover out butts as to why it took us so long to fix a report. We also try to leave comments for the MT to help them--which I don't do much anymore because it falls on deaf ears. SO, that is why we don't have time to give pats on the back. However, trust us---we know who you are and we appreciate it when you do well.
