MT's are to have AA degrees and be certified in the next few years for what? [2008-08-15]
This type of pay and abuse? On to another profession I say as this is not a profession anymore, but slave work.
I have been with MQ for years...sm [2008-08-14]
and have no trouble saving expansions. The basic concept is really about the same with most of these programs, save a phrase with characters you can easily remember so that when you type these characters, your phrase will be inserted. From what I have seen, some of the programs can get expensive and take quite a bit of time to set up. The DQS expansion program is really not too bad if used correctly, and it is free!
As far as losing your expansions, maybe you are not completely saving them. I learned this the hard way after losing several expansions myself!
1. Highlight entire phrase, whether it is two words ora whole page.
2. Hit control E.
3. Type in the replace box what you want to call your phrase, ex: bid for b.i.d., tpwaf for the patient was admitted for, etc.
4. Hit Alt A for add.
5. VERY IMPORTANT: Hit Alt C to close or click on close. Do not hit esc orthe red x on the expansion box.If you do not close the expansion box like this, sometimes it will not save the expansion.
Try this, and then if you still want topurchase an expansion program, go to the websites of the different ones andcheck them out. I decided to stick with DQS as it works for me and I have thousands of expansions. I have never had a problem withit getting too full, and I have a lot of repetitive expansions such as tpwa, tpwaf, tpwat, tpwao, all for the patient wasadmitted for, to, on, etc. and even whole report expansions for dictators who say the same thing over and over. The thing about using these expansions is you must really pay attention to what the dictator is saying. You can't leave in paragraphs if they don't say them, that was the problem with MTs using these. I am not telling anybody to use these or not use these, just letting you know why it was suggested not to use them.
Hope this helps!

No warning or anything. I should have remembered that the contract was around the time it left. The thing is I had just moved into a new house with a house payment almost triple to what I was paying. No jobj, nothing!. No back up.
Then a few years ago I lost my primary again, doing 300 lines an hour, no warning. Then I got a call that they would give me extra pay for a month but I wsa doing 7 hospitals!. That ws a mess and all this happened. They won't tll us because we will all jump ship and they don't want that to happen. Why I stay with them is unexplainable to me!

8 CPL. Asked probably half a dozen times. Was told I would need to be reviewed. Never happened, even after requesting to be reviewed. Always had a reason why. I think the latest reason was that they were on a pay freeze or something of that nature.
Always seemed terribly unfair, especially after I took such a big hit with ASR.

My English or spelling may not have been correct in your expertise, however, after working 10 hours for this MQ (wonderful company) and not getting any kind of decent compensation and then doing hours of research, I really could care less what your simple mind has to think about it. This could be your loss.
I have 14 years experience and excuse me if I mispell a word after being sooo tired.

Although I am fully bilingual in Spanish. I have been an MT for 14 years, have been with MQ for 2-1/2 and have never made less money. Please EXCUSE A mispell.
I have a legitimate claim and if you want to sit and eat the wee amounts they pay for your OT so be it. Sorry for you
QUIT ALSO [2008-08-16]
My pay check kept going down and down, about $1000 a month. So I finally bit the bullet and gave notice the end of June and my last day was July 10, then I took myself out for a long weekend of day spa, shopping, and a 2-night stay in a hotel BY MYSELF. Then started a new job July 14. Good change. Actually got an account that I had previously worked on at MQ. Guess they are all seeing the light and moving to different services also. It just happened to be one of those in the cesspool for MQ though. But as of next week I am getting a new account, which will have the OP reports I have been waiting for.
Have to say though that the pay right now is not a whole lot better than my last months at MQ, but then I think that is the way it is going to be all over from now on.
So congratulations to all of you that have made the move, and good luck to those still left, and wishing they could make the move. It will all turn out for the best. If this company does not work out, and I should have a better idea in the next month or so, after I get more established in a new account, I will be leaving this profession after 35 years and going to an out of the home job working as a health aid in my mom's assisted living apartment. Ican make about the same wages I am getting now, busting my butt, and I will actually enjoy the job.
Still love to come into this forum and read all the chats and sit back and smile because I AM OUT OF HERE.
adequate pay [2008-08-15]
I have to say that my pay over the last 1-1/2 years has been down about $1000 a month each month, and that is why I am out of here since 08/01. But it is not much better out there in the cruel world either. It is down everywhere.
right there with you [2008-08-15]
As I just noted below, my check was down about $1000 a month for over a year, and no one would do anything about it or tell me why, so I finally, after waiting too too long, I quit. Then they want to know why?? Hello??!!! Anyway, what can one do about it? They are just majorly screwing us. Not sure what is to be done besides getting the heck out. But you know what? It is not much better anywhere else, at least not that I have found. They either screw you with ASR at a very low rate for all the corrections that are needed to be done, or they screw you with low line rate and bad dictators. that is just the way of the land anymore. I am considering going to work at my mom's assisted living for $10/hr and actually like my job. As of yesterday, I was making about $9.50/hr somewhere else. I was making $24/hr about 2 years ago. Anyone have an answer? Let me know, too.

My pay was much better on MTShell - sm [2008-08-15]
Even with having to toggle back and forth between DOS and Windows and having to manually input all of the ADT info, I worked much faster.
I had a bunch of accounts in smaller areas of the country, where the docs actually seemed to have the time to dictate, and they were great. Unfortunately, when MQ went to DQS none of these acconts had the want or the bucks to change their systems.
I suppose I've been luckier than most because I've pretty much settled into 3 accounts, but I'll be honest and tell y'all that my primary is a cesspool account that ASR just butchers worse than the who are attempting to speak English do!
And what is this crap about needing an AA degree? I never even got a certificate from the rinky-dink school I went to. Other than basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, everything I've learned has been in the trenches over the past 15 years, for which I get paid $0.05 a line more than I did when I started - when I'm doing straight transcription that is. Grrrrrrrrr
yes you were hired [2008-08-15]
around the time things went downhill. In 2006 is whenMQ turned everyone into employees from statutory and had to follow a certain schedule, etime, etc. Before docuscribe MTs transcribed on various platforms. Docuscribe has been around maybe the last6 years or so maybe longer. MTs were trained on it at different timesas accounts had timeframes asto when they would be transitioned over to docuscribe.
Anywho, before docuscribe we used to get paid for everything on the report, and we had noADT screen to fool around with. Now its a mystery to me what I get paid for and what I do not. My PS cannot even tell me or exPS's.
When I first noticed the drop in pay with docuscribe a few years back my supervisor then said I was being paid at the same rate but docuscribe system is different (lol). last year though MQ finally put in writing thatour payseems lower because we did not have PTO back then or other perks! No rhyme or reason, just is.
with the civil suit [2008-08-15]
that started with 3 Transcriptionist a few years back? Anyone know? It still applies to the ones working up to date. I read on one websitethose MTs weretrying to get them for docuscribe platform as far as not being paid correctly but somehow it was let go I think by the 3transcriptionists.not sure why though.
It seems to me [2008-08-15]
Don't believe it for a minute. It has been almost 3 years since I took the leap from MQ and boy am I so thankful that I did. I now work for a smaller company that pays decent wages as well as has good benefits, PTO, bonus, etc. They listen to their employees and are very helpful. They say one thing and stick to their guns. They are available 24/7 and I just love it. There are good employers out there you just have to be diligent and find them.
It's true we are getting paid for [2008-08-15]
what we do, but they have changed the pay scale at least 4 times in the past 2 years along if you consider that most of us calculated the bonus scale into our average pay per payday, like when you got more money the higher your line count was per pay period, and let's not even forget what they did to us with the ASR pay, and we had no choice but to sit back and take the decrease in our paychecks while they were lining their pockets in management off our work....
Computer return question [2008-08-15]
Did you have a computer to return? What department do we contact to find out how to do this? I'm giving my notice tomorrow when I call my supervisor. She emailed me to call her in the a.m. and I feel a chewing-out coming as I was short on my lines per hour last pay period. That's okay, was going to quit anyway after 10 years. It was time.
RE: Question [2008-08-15]
Congrats. I too left after 9+ years just about 2 months ago. You PS just wants to make sure why you're leaving. Mine was great about it. She asked if there was anything she could to make me stay and I said nope. She also told that about 2-3 weeks after your last day, you would receive labels to return your computer tower. They didnot anything else back but the tower. Hey, I got a free pedal and extra monitor out of the deal. I did request that she send me an email stating that only the tower needed to be returned, just to cover my butt in the long run. I got the labels right around the time she said they would come. If you kept the boxes they came, then all you have to do is tape it back up and slap the sticker on and drop it off at an UPS store. Took me all of 30 seconds. Didn't cost a thing. I did just get the last follow up survey MQ gives to see how satisfied with our job experience we were. They asked, if they offered more money would I consider staying. Said nope again, I am really happy with my current company. Told them I was not happy with having to take a pay cut for a program that was not learning and did not improve my production what so ever. Not as brutal as some probably would have been, but I think I got my point across.
Hope this helps. Congrats again.
I thought MQ was great when I first started..... [2008-08-14]
back in December, however, the more time that goes on I see how stupid and ridiculous these people are. I also didn't realize it at first but my training was absolutely horrible. It seems like everyday I'm learning something new that I should've been taught in the very beginning, either by reading this board or through audits or whatever. And they treat us like we're machines.
I do have to say, though, that I have the best PS ever. He's awesome and I love him. Hehas a lot of the same beliefs that we MT's have about certain things. Unfortunately, not a whole lot he can do.
The only reason I'm sticking around is because I've only been an MT since December (but been in the medical field for more than 10 years) and there aren't very many companies that hire w/o 2 or more years experience, at the very least. So, I'm here for the long haul to gain my years of experience before moving on.
I agree [2008-08-14]
Common sense would almost tell you to check it but if they never explained it to us properly say in an email whenever people were trained on it not everyone would know the proper way of signing off. I was told about it in docuscribe training session but I guess that could have been missed by some since those sessions can be somewhat boring.Since being on docuscribe now for about 4 years I have never really heard so much about it as I am lately. I would hear aboutit here and there a while back but not to this extent. Maybe more newbies not knowing about it is causing more of this to happen??
I wonder if the "suits" and other [2008-08-14]
management are working every single minute they are punched in They get hourly pay or are on salary and I have been worked in offices and hospitals for many, many years and would bet the farm that they sit around and gab, go to the bathroom, make phone calls, go on business lunches for hours at a time, and whatever and still get paid, yet they are afraid that we might not be working every minute of every shift. The reason for the panic with making us work is because we bring in the money. Without the MTs there is no MQ no matter what they say because bottom line is patient reports are what pay the bills for MQ....I will also give a year of my salary that they never, ever make up time if they aren't strictly working their hours...JMHO...
Line rate and primaries [2008-08-14]
I'm one of the others who gets 10 cpl, however, like my husband always says - you get what you negotiate. If you start a job and take whatever they offer, then you only have yourself to blame. If you didn't negotiate your line rate, then you have nothing to complain about. Also, making 10 cpl doesn't make me a special or favored person. I'm still in the cesspool all the time like everyone else. Maybe the people who are always in their primaries negotiated that too. If they did, they're way smarter than I am. If I had known 9 years ago when I started with the Q that there would be a cesspool, I would have done a better job of negotiating. That's why I'm looking for another job.
Losing primary [2008-08-13]
I had been on an account for over 2 years when all the sudden I was only getting an occasional report and then nothing. It was around Thanksgiving so just figured it was because of the holidays. After about three weeks, I had to ask and then was told they lost the account. MQ is only concerned about their bottom line.
Longtime MQers [2008-08-12]
Been with MQ six years - no raise, pay cut with ASR. Making what I made as an MT 10years ago. Pathetic. That was not hospital work but clinic notes and full benefits and 3 weeks vacation.
