what is counted on mq central [2008-11-20]
did you guys know that you can go on MQ central to see what is counted on a line? I had asked this last year and they had finally posted it just a little while back. For the life of me though some things are hard to figure out by the way it is stated. Especially when it comes to headers and ADT info. Which i suspect we do not get. Maybe the headers if they are already in the system and not the ones we add on ourselves. Please, check it out. I am interested in your thoughts on it.

if you aren't a Medquist employee you can't get onto mqcentral. but then, count your blessings that you aren't an MQ employee. if you are a medquist employee, you should have an mqcentral account and an e-mail set up, and if you don't you should contact your supervisor (haha).
News on MQ Central re: line count lawsuit [2008-11-18]
Have you all read the message about the settlement of the line count lawsuit to be heard in a courthouse inCamden, NJ, in February 2009? MQ is now obviously making us pay for this lawsuit out of our own pockets by dropping our salaries once again. Shouldn'tTHEYbe the ones paying the measly $1,500,000 for playing around with out line counts since 1998 in the first place? Wouldn't it be great if we could get up a crowd of MTs outside that courtroom on that day and scream to be heard to the judge? Or at least let those lawyers see what other outrageous atrocities MQ has done to us MT/MEs. There's time to gather momentum for this date!!

IT ALL HAS TO DO WITH THE LAWSUIT. The way the company posted it and how you can open it up and read it. I really, really think, gut feeling, that the company is TICKED OFF AND I MEAN REALLY TICKED OFF AT US. The person who posted this and wondered if it had to do with the lawsuit is right. Any Transcriptionist who worked from from Nov. 29, 1998 to Aug 11, 2008, all MT's rights may be affected by this lawsuit. Wow.

go to departments, then operations, then customer support, then medical transcription, and under the MT Section is an ASR/editing section. i haven't bothered checking it out because i've just stopped giving a crap about anything to do with ASR. it is the most coma producing work i've ever done, and i generally don't mind repetitive boring tasks. but this has even me numbed to the core.

I no longer work for MQ but did work there from 1998 through 2008. I don't have access to MQ central, so could someone please tell me how to opt out of the lawsuit?
I don't want anything going to AHDI. Why does MQ get to decide this anyway? Any other lawsuit that I've ever seen won, the winning party gets to decide what to do with the award. MQ must have bought the judge, too.

I am planning to write letter to court...sm [2008-11-20]
and counsel for plaintiffs objecting to the distribution of the settlement. Instructions and addresses are with the notice on MQ central. Even if it is a dollar, I workedhard for the money and I feel it should be mine to do as I please. Is anyone else going to object to the distrubution of the settlement? Strange thing though, they left a blank for the deadline dates. Lawyers are getting $250,000.00, and it is stated in the notice they will be paid for the cost of printing and mailing the notice. Well, what notice? I never received a notice.

but nothing from the firm representing the MTs who filed the suit, which should have included me since I was working during this time, as well (it included those working up until August of this year!!).There isa notice onthe MQ central home page. Hope that helps.

Go to MQ central and read the legal notice for medical transcriptionists. Click on site then click on the info. Read down to where it says if you were a MT during that time, your rights might be affected by the settlement of this litigation. Right under that is the place to be excluded from the settlement which must be received by January 8. Maybe I was too harsh in my original statement, but it is fishy that they would send the info to not be included if it didn't mean something regarding us in the future.

In the revised QNews, it advises us that if we do not agree with the proposed settlement to be decided 2/25/2009) we can send our reasons to the lawyers listed by mail. We don't have to go to court to state our reasons although I have a feeling some of us will. No one should opt out of this settlement. My reason for contesting is that I personally saw my income drop $800 a month over a period of about a yearwith their New, improved platforms and updates. Then over the last three years, they have been cutting our salaries by 10% each year. I am now making less than half of what I did in 2001.You all must have some idea of how much you lost during those years, whenever you worked with MQ. I have personally been with them since 2001 when they bought out the company I worked for, Lernout and Hauspie.

i haven't checked MQ central or MTStars all day. i checked in here first just now and i'm looking at all these posts and going WHAAAAA????? what did i miss? so of course i check my mqcentral e-mail and see.
geez. i guess i cut back to part-time just in time. unbelievable. things just keep getting worse and worse everywhere don't they.
i played around with guestimates last night to see how my next month is going to be with my two jobs, and things are going to get considerably worse for me before they get better. i was afraid i'd made a mistake by going part-time sooner rather than later. but now i'm glad, no matter how screwed over financially i am going to be.
they are doing everything possible to get rid of the best MTs. i hope everyone can find a way to leave this company. i myself am going to continue looking so i won't even have to work for them part-time. unbelievable.

downtime for holiday [2008-11-18]
do we get paid for downtime on a holiday if there is not enough work? I was scheduled to work this past labor day but ended up getting a few hours in later in the day and made up the other time over the weekend. I had called in like we are supposed to and later received an email from techbut there was nothing stating we get downtime for no work. I just did not feel like logging in to MQ central and downloading files to find this out. Thanks so much.

some states have cap-offs of how much you can roll over, some don't allow any roll over. If you go to MQ central and click under Departments, then click Human Resources then click on Policies then scroll all the way to the bottom for ME/ME/QA/QC section and you'll find the PTO stuff, its close to the end of the PTO policy section...

...at MQ central, it still lists the flexible part-time status and says nothing about it no longer being an option. i could handle the 20 hours, but not 25.
my second part-time job is going to let me start working for them full-time, but i'll still need a second job, as i can't afford just one job....especially with it being IC and me having to take care of taxes and health insurance, etc, etc....but i'm not doing this change for the money. i'm doing it to save my life. if i keep working full-time for medquist, i fear i will spend the rest of my lifein a severe state of depression, and its just so not worth it. if MQ doesn't allow me the flexible part-time option, its adios, so long, kiss my butt, see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.
i'm sure i can find some part-time job somewhere, even if its at mcdonalds. or i'll just have to come up with something creative. i don't know. but i'm doing this, no matter what. i'm scared, but excited at the same time.

If you have direct deposit with Bank of America, check your account. I just checked at 0324 central deposit is pending. So, apparently, Bank of America posted direct deposits as of midnite Sunday. Other banks may do the same.

So I just now logged on to MQ central becase my check isn't in the bank, and I was wondering why. The notice was put on the 7th--I didn't work from 7-until today.
Pay is a pretty important thing. I think they should have made it a point to get the message out a little better, especially to people who weren't supposed to be working.
I would have been fine if I had known that we might get paid late, but I went ahead and did all my normal grocery shopping friday with my DH's check, paid a few bills, and now more than likely my electric bill will bounce tomorrow--and then I'll probably be fired because I won't be able to work without electricity

change the part time to 24 hrs per week? I am considering going PT but since the MQ central site doesn't list it as 24 hrs, I assumed it was still 20 hrs/week.
As per the MQ central site, there is still a flex/pt position also....
I don't know what to tell you if there is nothing in the MQ central then they may be trying to do away with the flex pt, but don't quote me on that since I'm not sure what's going on. Is there something somewhere stating that PT is 24 hrs required now?

I figure if they are giving us access to the backlog they might be giving us an opportunity to flex our schedule according to our primary. I can't see having the backlog unless there was a point to it. I don't think the email was labeled in a way that you would identify it right away. it was from MQ central department, I believe. They were pretty vague in the description of the whole thing anyway. I guess we will hear more about it as the time comes closer.
I received a new computer from MQ [2008-10-31]
and was wondering where I go to download the AAMT Book of Style. I had this on my old computer from MQ by downloading from, I think, QNet. Can I still get it from QNet or is there somewhere on MQ central and I'm just not finding it. Thanks for any help with this.

i just tried to find it and couldn't. this MQ central web site has to be the worst web site to navigate ever invented. i think it makes it hard to find any information on purpose. i can absolutely never find anything i am looking for.
and yes, i'm on the down turn of my mood swing with this place.i've been trying to stay positive, but its simply impossible. today, i hate everything about medquist. they suck the life right out of me.

posted in MQ central? It states 73% think editing process is efficient and 51% stated editing is faster for them than transcribing and this was out of 1,200 who took the survey.
