not talking about that- how about overstaffing? [2008-10-10]
How many times have you looked at the backlogs and seen a lot of work in your accounts only to be out of the BOB in an hour or two? Why is that? Because other accounts ran out too and now everybody rolled into your accounts and then you will roll into somebody else's. Obviously it is too much to ask to staff the accounts appropriately so the constant rolling in and out of accounts doesn't happen.
You are full of yourself. My check [2008-10-09]
stillsays MedQuist. Pedal your garbage someplace else.
1st MQ check snail mail or direct deposit sm [2008-10-07]
I have been gone from MQ for about 2-3 monthsf, and just wondering whether or not my check will be direct deposited. I have all the same accout info with my bank as last time, and still the same ADP #. For me it takes about 7 extra days for snail mail, so I would really like to know. If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated
My 1st check [2008-10-07]
was direct deposit. The forms were sent in with my hiring paperwork.
My first check [2008-10-07]
When I got my first check it was through the mail.
Anyone els check out their MQ 401K yet? [2008-10-06]
I just did. As of last Friday, it dropped (let me do the math).....about 40%. And of course, the market did even worse today.
This just stinks.
How often are we supposed to check the MQ email [2008-09-30]
because I work three day shifts (FRI/SAT/SUN) weekly and just was informed that I missed the opportunity to sign up for the MANDATORY ASR refresher course. My immediate supervisor has been gone for aboutthe past month(it seems) but someone else has filled in and sent me a ratherabrupt email that said I MUST CHECK MY EMAIL MORE FREQUENTLY.
Doesn't it seem a bit unfair to expect me to check it on days I'm not scheduled to work? She also didn't give me any idea as to when I can schedule the ASR course. What happens if you don't take it in a timely manner?
I don't think they like me.
I don't check if I am off, why do I want [2008-09-30]
to hear anything from them if I don't have to. What are you supposed to do if you are out of town for a week???
I do check (quickly!) but I'm talking about [2008-09-30]
in cases when I don't understand WHY it was changed. And it's after the fact. I would be nice if in the list of the QA'd jobs instead of just the dictator's name it would provide the client so I can make a quick note.
If you are talking about my primary [2008-09-29]
which has many, many ESL's, the work seems to come in batches of very bad and halfway decent. There are English-speaking docs but they seem to go into hiding for long periods of time.
DocQScribe/auto correct/spell check [2008-09-28]
Hi! I just started a new job this week and am learning the ins and outs of DocQScribe.
In Word, you can automatically add your corrected typos to your AutoCorrect file via the spell checker. Is there anything similar in DocQScribe?
Thank you.
Sometimes you can check TAT...sm [2008-09-23]
if you go in and look at the stats on a specific report at specific account you typed. It will say time the report was received and the time it was DUE back to facility.....it can give you the TAT for that report type at that facility....
How do you check your company mail? NM [2008-09-22]
xx
Lost jobs during system check [2008-09-21]
Am I the only one who lost reports during the system check last night? I lost a report that took me 25 minutes to type. I had already finished it and logged off by the time the check started, but it is gone, baby, gone.So much for bonus weekend!!
Check Policy [2008-09-19]
Check policy to see if you are allowed to borrow PTO hours, then get back to your PS and let them know where you found it, if indeed you did. I'm sure all this is on MQ Central somewhere, probably Policy and Governance.
I'm not sure, but just a thought.
I think I know the sound you are talking about... [2008-09-17]
It sounds kinda like a helicopter or maybe like something banging in the background. I actually think that has to do with the audio and the dictator may not know. Sometimes this is so loud you cannot understand the dictator, correct? I am not sure that complaining about the audio would do any good, but you may try.
Check CNN or google for updated info (SM) [2008-09-15]
I heard on CNN this morning that regarding the 401Ks, etc., it's too late to try to sell them as they are now without value, the loss has been incurred.
I don't have involvement with ML/LB through my 401K so all the info I have is what I heard this mroning. You might want to check the CNN or a financial update website for further details (or better yet call whomever is handling your 401K account ASAP).
Best way to find out is check with PS. [2008-09-12]

I never called anyone a dork, check post name before flaming NM [2008-09-09]

check CP [2008-09-09]
My primary is extremely definite about this one - no hyphens between year old and all ages must be alpha and not numeric - ie seventy-six year old. They also specify that numerals can only be used in measurements and drug dosages - every other number must be spelled out, as in: twenty-three warts found onnose. Best advice, check the client profile and go from there. Even with this clearly spelled out in the client profile, I have seen QA change it back to thirty-year-old, convinced the hyphens have to be there.
Tell her to check...sm [2008-09-08]
in BOS-2 under hyphens... both under adjectives and nouns.
Under adjectives it gives the example of ''The patient is a 36-year-old.''
It doesn't give -year-old under the noun section of hyphens, but does state things like son-in-law, etc. I believe it is in Gregg's where it states that xx-year-old is used as a noun.
I can't think of any instance off the top of my head that 46-year-old wouldn't be hyphenated, but in all my years of writing and transcribing, I don't think I've ever seen it used other than as I've previously posted.
I think as someone else posted, if you can use the words in a hyphenated noun separately and it doesn't change the context, then it doesn't need to be hyphenated... i.e. you couldn't say a 46 came in, a year came in, an old came in... The 46-year-old describes ''the patient,'' which is implied, therefore it is either a 46-year-old patient or a 46-year-old.
Again, I'm not sure if I'm even explaining it correctly, all I know is that basically xx-year-old will have hyphens, but xx years old will not. Simple and a lot easier to remember.
Please let us know if your QKL can document otherwise... and I'm not being mean-spirited, I truly want to know what documention she found this in for my future reference as I've never seen any. Thank you.
Passing thru is correct, check Gregg Reference Manual...sm [2008-09-08]
My older Gregg's is Fifth Edition from 1951-1977 and says the same thing as BOS-2.
Where did you train 10 years ago?
Not to be mean, and not picking on you in particular, but I QA'd and mentored a lot of Career Step graduates 10-12 years ago and was not impressed by their English and grammar skills. I spent more time correcting basic 8th-grade English and grammar mistakes than difficult medical terminology with the CS grads.
Again, I'm not flaming you, and I do believe that you were probably taught that in your training 10 years ago... I'm just saying that you were taught incorrectly. Not your fault, but the fault of the institution you attended.

The decreases people are talking about [2008-09-03]
are concerning what we used to make compared to now while working at MQ all along. My pay went down almost $600 a month after changes made in 6/07, so I left.
Check the "one hint" post above - nm [2008-08-27]
I hear you [2008-10-10]
I have a few great places I'm going to check out. Do not listen to the others who bash you for venting what is the truth. I am fed up with this lying corporation. You can find another job online, dear. They are out there. How many years exp do you have? I too am getting up there and have no 401k and MQ wanted 2 wks of pay for medical, heck no. this is what corps are like, dear. Hang in there. There are jobs out there, whether in Kansas or CA. Get your CV together and look them up. Good luck, honey.
production work [2008-10-09]
I hope I don't get pounced on here, and I am truly just another MT at the Q, but when you talk about working a production job, you are talking about the standards under which you are paid as a contrast to a job where you work a certain number of hours and what is produced is not or cannot be measured. This does not mean that it does not matter when you work.
At the other end of our job is the client with the need for the product and the ability to choose a contractor that suits their needs. In this business TAT is King with accuracy Queen. Imagine yourself as an independent contractor to a hospital and here is your proposal:
My staff are flex staff, so I won't know when they are actually going to work.
When they do work, they may start late or leave early because of other commitments.
In order to meet your TAT and keep your business, we will offer incentives during your heavy use times, which my employees with then complain affect their ability to meet production after the incentive is over. It does not really matter that YOUR needs change - it only matters that my employees get exactly the kind of work when they want it, and that they can choose to do the work (or not do the work) when they please.
I cannot imagine why more hospitals are not beating down my door with a proposal like that.
Integrity: Doing what is right even when no one is looking. It also goes a long way towards job security.
Anyone else?..... [2008-10-09]
fed up with this crap?? MQ drives you to the brink of suicide. All they do is B___H about how terrible employees we are!!!! There are too many reference guides to check to satisfy them. Let alone pay us crap. Can't buy groceries, and forget about heating our house. MQ, do you know how hard it is to type with cold fingers!! Oh that's right, you DON'T CARE!!!! Work your employees to death...literally. Have to work 6 or 7 days a week to comply with your rules. I'm sure, you SUITS are living high on the hog...just like the AIG ppl. Enjoy your day at the spa, while the rest of us starve to death!!!!!
And for those of you saying to get a different job and leave, do you even have a clue about the current job market....it's nil in rural America. Change jobs only to be low man on the totem pole and be laid off in the end. I'm told old for all this crap!!
Tips, tricks, secrets for ASR? [2008-10-08]
Anyone want to share any tips or tricks you might have for getting through ASR more quickly, efficiently, etc.? I just started ASR and it's not really that bad as far as transcription goes (yet), I'm just terrified to recieve my first check since starting ASR after reading some of the posts. So I was just curious and thought maybe some of you might be able to offer some of us newbies toASR some tips and advice.
Thanks in advance!
If the equipment is theirs, the work is [2008-10-08]
theirs, you are their employee, they can check on anything work related.
At wit's end.. [2008-10-08]
about all the contradicting issues. By the time we check the 5 resources required, our line count will drop even further. AAAANNNNNDDDD, now they want us to check MQC, email, etc., after our shift...while not punched in to email. There must be a law somewhere that addresses this. Otherwise, looking for the gun. MQ has already sent the bullets. G-bye all!
written up for what? [2008-10-08]
I've never been, but I'm going to go check my email now.
Well now my supe wants me to work my exact hours and amount and email her every day sm [2008-10-08]
with the fact that I have worked my exact scheduled hours. What is up? I really think she wants me to quit. She may get her wish. Just want to see what goes on next week with the new reorganization they are talking about.
401K [2008-10-07]
The way you allocate your contributions is entirely up to you. You do not have to buy any MQ stock. Go to the Merrill-Lynch web site which is on your statement and easy to navigate to check your current distributions. Call ML with any questions.
yep [2008-10-07]
MQ keeps an eye on everything. I've found if I am making too much $$ in their eyes, my accounts change...but the PS doesn't touch system. I've actually been moved to another supervisor for 1 month, and then miraculously moved back....with no explanation. Actually went a day or 2 withno one fromMQtalking to me. When I called,I was told they cannot talk to me about it. WTH???? I trust no one at MQ. You can't get a straight answer, and the double standard applies greatly!!!! For example, this morning, I have 2 reports from QA contradicting each other. Now what am I supposed to do with that.

that would be great.I know when I was hired the first [2008-10-07]
time they had to send my check through regular mail, and it took almost 2 weeks to get here. I thought I had been scammed, and was working for free.
THANKS
My first check [2008-10-07]
When I got my first check it was through the mail.
I love how they... [2008-10-06]
Send the incentive note out at the last minute. Do they really think we have no life and are waiting around to see if they have something good to offer. They want us to work the 4 EXTRA hours on the weekend, but they don't take into consideration, how early ppl are done with their shifts on Friday!!!! They when you do sign in, you are 2 days behind the 8-ball.
I'm a firm believer of what goes around, comes around!!! MQ will get theirs someday. On more than one occasion, I have received a check in the mail out-of-blue b/c they have not paid their employees correctly. It WILL happen eventually!!! Be patient.
FYI [2008-10-05]
Medical dictationary it is duplex Doppler and color flow Doppler. Check site below:

I remember when our local office would offer $40.00 [2008-10-04]
extra per day if you exceeded a certain amount, and I got more pages (paid that way then) than the requirement to begin with. One check made $400.00 just in bonus. NOW THOSE WERE THE DAYS. The bonuses were going on for a long time andwere offered frequently. It made you want to work harder because there was an actual obtainable significant reward for your efforts. Anybody have a time capsule? I'M GOIN BACK!
in MQ Central under HR, it shows [2008-10-03]
under benefits (very bottom of page) that you can get a pay card from ADP where your check will be deposited in something similar to a debit card if you don't have a checking account
Yes, MQ does mail paychecks [2008-10-03]
I have never had direct deposit with MQ. Due to problems I had with direct deposit with another company, I do not want to take a chance on it again. I get my paycheck by mail and it is always on time. I don't know how it works if you already have direct deposit and want to change to getting check by mail. Maybe call payroll directly and ask, their telephone number is listed on MQ Central.
It does sound positive [2008-10-03]
One of the things I like is the point about contact with the client, or something like that. It sounds like the new position allows for them to bring messages from us to the account - maybe there will finally be some dictator accountability!
I also like the idea of being able to check the backlog at any time, rather than just when the PS gets around to it. It should help free up the PS as well to return e-mails, calls, etc.
As for me, I have already taken another job. If things don't work out and MQ continues on this path, maybe I'll be back.
I'm glad for the rest of you, however. I hope it really means they recognize their blunders (anyone see the debate last night?) of the past and will keep making positive changes.
Bank Buyout [2008-10-03]
Our bank was bought out too. Maybe we're talking about the same one. Not sure why you're worried. The checks will go where they've always gone, and it will take at least a year before the name actually changes.
Our financial guy assured us that nothing would change, though I can't say I asked about direct deposit. He just said, nothing has changed, all the same people are here.
Can't skip but can speed up [2008-10-02]
You can't skip (wish there was a way we could) but you can speed it up. I think it's Alt i (strangely enough my fingers know how but I can't remember exactly). Of course, about the time you speed it up, they start talking and you have to slow it back down - Control Alt i.
My sentiment exactly [2008-10-02]
They sent out all the policies regarding what is expected of US regarding PTO. How about what WE can expect? Fair is fair. OOOPSS, forgot what company we are talking about here.
I had the exact same thing happen to me. Following all MQ rules, and deadline passed for RSVP, even after pleading with PS to respond. NEVER did. Keeping all this information for future reference.
Client Profile [2008-09-30]
You're probably as tired of hearing this as QAS are tired of having to do it, but you would check the Client Profile each time you do an op. You probably know this, but F5 brings it up when you're in a document.
