I asked my CCM when she [2008-12-03]
first called to introduce herself when all these changes took place. She also said the majority of other accounts she has worked on have it written in their contracts.

Well.....you asked [2008-12-02]
Does take this job and shove it sound appropriate to you?

Yeh when the systems was down, I asked my supervisor, how they handled it and she said sm [2008-11-29]
I don't know how they handle that. Duh, not taking her comment, I looked it up and found out how and got paid like I was supposed to. She was just being helpful as she always is!

My CCM asked me to change to a different set of accounts becuase [2008-11-26]
these customers were dissatisfied with the international work. I asked if she meant India and she said overseas.

Christmas 2006 I asked for off [2008-11-25]
NOPE. DENIED. Wedding was 3 days before Christmas out of state and *** said NO. Asked plenty days (months) in time. ***. I have had so many PS's that I cannot remember them all.*******Do not put personal information that could identify an individual in posts******He also would chew me out for being 1 minute later and such ridiculous stuff. If I was not too tired, I would have cried like a baby on the phone conversations we had. I tried calling regional manager and leaving emails about all of this and that I wanted this to be discussed over the phone, but as usual, no answers.****** Sooooo, you are fortunate you get people to listen to you. My last resort was to quit on the spot.

I asked my CCM about it last Tuesday [2008-11-22]
when I actually managed to speak to him on the phone. He told me that it is coming soon. He was told that they have to wait for the go-ahead from the higher ups to use this feature.

I asked MT Questions that very [2008-11-20]
question 3 days ago and they wrote back and told me it is based on a 65CHARACTER line. They very carefully did not answer my specific question about are spaces being counted?

I definitely remember that. I even asked my PS [2008-11-19]
at the time about it. She said it was in the works and would be a separate bonus from the production bonus. I have a feeling that will never materialize.

Sent email to my CCM asked to be taken OFF ASR [2008-11-18]
What do you think? Do you think I will hear back?

I asked on the earliest day we could, [2008-11-12]
and the only thing we heard was that she had to talk to our old PS to see what days she had already given offand that's the last I've heard. I'm trying to patiently wait.

Oh please dear God, please let me have PTO. I'm sick of this. I just asked for 2 days. NM [2008-11-02]

I asked on the 27th and got denied. [2008-10-31]

When I asked QA about that, [2008-10-30]
I was told it was because the marker had become corrupt. That basically means something happened so a piece of code that tells the computer to take it out is missing, so the computer doesn't recognize it. I had been concerned when I first saw that in a final document and asked about it. I think it is bad when skip markers end up in the final document as it makes the company look bad. I don't know what corrupts the marker, but I figure it must be like anything else that goes wrong with computer codes sometimes. When I worked at a hospital and we saw QA type markers in a document, we wondered about the quality of the document, and did not respect the company doing our overflow work.

I know this has been asked before... [2008-10-29]
and I apologize for asking again but I can't find the answer on a search. I just got a new hard drive from MQ and there are sounds (dings, bells, etc.) when you upload, get to the end of a report, etc. that I can't remember how to get rid of. Any help appreciated.

I asked for a few days off around Christmas [2008-10-27]
And in reply I got about 3-4 emails from my (new) super about the correct way to ask for PTO. I followed all the rules and didn't do anything wrong as far as requesting those hours. I have no idea why she is treating me this way. Like the other poster, I dread it when all the supes come back from Atlanta!

I asked for that 8 months ago [2008-10-21]
I hope you have better luck that I did. I requested being taken off ASR 8 months ago and it never happened. They have also kept me on an account that I absolutely hate and is 100% ASR. I don't mind doing ASR occasionally, but not 100% of the time, especially when there are other accounts that don't even have ASR, which makes quite a bit of difference in pay.

I asked about it and was told no. [2008-10-19]

Nevermind. I found it! [2008-10-17]

Got an email stating we might be asked to change our schedule sm [2008-09-29]
as the work flow is bad over the weekend and monday mornings. Who are they kidding? I will not change my schedule as I work for another company and can't change my schedule. They better not ask me!

Nevermind. He just sent another email clarifying. nm [2008-09-03]

Ah-ha! That's why I asked...sm [2008-07-26]
Thank you. Like the other poster, I thought it was a waste of $$ but was more than willing to give them a piece of my mind. The Subject line even had the word spam in it, but my PS sent an e-mail about account minutes and the subject linealso had the word spam. That's what threw me. Thanks for the reminder to ask mtquestions about things like this.

I was told no when I asked. [2008-07-23]

Google

The last few weeks they were calling me [2008-12-04]
regularly, and one day he called and asked if I was planning to do my scheduled hours that day. I was WORKING at the time he called. What's with that?

I'm not quite sure to whom you are responding or why [2008-12-04]
your reply is so condescending. I, too, am an MT who does what is required and a lot of what is asked. I just was trying to figure out why when work is still somewhat low, the IR would call and ask for extra time when I haven't even been able to get my regularly scheduled hours this week. I realize that changes come with any job. I enjoy being able to work at home with very little expense to myself. I realize this job is somewhat feast or famine and understand that it is up to me during the feast times to prepare for the famine. I have worked in a hospital setting before and know the work is cyclic. That still does not explain why the IR is calling asking for extra help when no extra work is available.

Here we go again . . . [2008-12-04]
Yes, that is how it works - the MQ management conspires with the doctors and administration of the hospitals specifically to annoy you and sirupte your schedule. Get a grip - doctors dicate whenever the heck they want to, they dictate directly into the system so there is no THEY that are holding work just to pi$$ you off, and if you really had ever worked in a hospital you would know how cylical the work is and always has been. And no, I am not management, just an MT with 35 years of experience who does her job as asked by MQ, is not freaking out by every single little change and can remember to be grateful that I can earn full-time wages and have absolutely NO work expenses, thereby incerasing my take-home pay by 25% over those who slog to an office or, in our case, some dungeon in a hospital.

Instant Text Question [2008-12-03]
I might have asked this before...but has anyone that is using Instant Text had to switch their former platform to DocQScribe, and if so, was it an easy transition? I have been told that this platform might not be able to incorporate IT. I really don't want to use auto correct if I don't have to. My job is going to go live with this next week and I am a bit apprehensive. Thanks for any info.

Think about it [2008-12-03]
Hi all. I took the giant leap to leave the Q almost a year ago shortly after they took away our primary accounts and started the cesspool. I am now at a company that pairs MTs to a doctor or a small group. MUCH BETTER !! The first 6 months were NOT fun as I had problems with a certain account manager, but am happy now and making way more than the Q. Have you tried other companies? You have to make minimum wage with the Q and with the cesspool that may be hard or impossible, especially at first, depending on the accounts. If you are going to try it, ask for 8.5 CPL..they may offer 8. (Doubt it but you can try.) I asked for 9 at this company and got 8.5. If you try the Q and don't make it...don't give up, try again. Working in house would give you the best $ if you can do that. JMHO (No, my company has no openings currently.)

My conputer is definitely making me crazy. [2008-12-02]
I have had it for 3 years, and when I asked for a new one, they just had me increase my virtual memory. Didn't help much. It is sorely affecting my production, with all the stuttering and freezing up!!

Another account gone? [2008-12-02]
Has anyone heard if another large radiology account, possibly 2, have left Medquist and gone elsewhere starting this week? There has been no work for nearly 16 hours in the account and no answer when asked about what is going on. Last time this happened they waited a week to tell us the account was no longer with MQ.

I left almost 1-1/2 years ago and on my [2008-12-02]
exit interview I told them exactly why I left. $600 cut in pay per month when incentive changed, no communication, multiple accounts, no raises, being switched to a new account/service area, loss of flexibility with schedules, etc. They even asked me if I would consider coming back and I told them absolutely not. I told them that after working for them for 10+ years I felt the company had no respect for their MTs, it was just going downhill at an extremely fast rate. I also told them I had started a job which paid me 1.5 cpl more than MQ and there was no way I would ever consider returning. I got this call about 3 months after I left, it was probably a company they hire to conduct these. The lady was very understanding about why I left and even wished me luck. I truly believe leaving the Q was one of the best decisions I ever made, especially after checking in on this board and seeing that things have indeed gone from bad to worse.

I bet that was a fine howdy-do! [2008-12-02]
I had one at one point I never spoke to at all--just communicated through email--until she called me telling me she was quitting. I got quite an earful. They get blamed for losing the MTs. Really, like they actually make many decisions anyway. Pay cut was not their idea for sure. ASR was not their idea either. This woman told me she was tired of being asked to LIE to us!

not 2 min. after I sent it... [2008-12-02]
I got a call from my CCM. He has always been nice and funny. sometimes he takes a while to get back with regard to holiday PTO, but he also admits that he was trying to be fair based on prior supervisors approving stuff already, etc, so he has been pretty nice so far...and I was pleasantly surprised when he asked why I was leaving and I told him straight up why, and he said (much to my surprise) that he UNDERSTANDS and its not unlike concerns other transcriptionists in our group have had, and so he really doesn't have an argument against it, but hates to see me go. He told me he rarely gets any corrections about my work and that made me feel good to hear, and said that he hates to see me go, asked what it would take to stay and unfortunately he understands my concerns and issues because they are the same as others. He is very understanding, probably helps that he has small kids as well. he knows I'm a single mom. He did tell me that he would love if I could try to do part time, but he said that he will be in touch with me for sure before I leave. I was worried about a negative call, but was surprised. Sadly, I cried to him when telling him why because it wasn't a very easy thing, I've been with the original company for 10 years that MQ bought a few years earlier.

My supervisor [2008-12-02]
My supervisor is horrible. She has a nasty attitude, is rude and has yet to answer any of the MTs notes. I asked her a question 2 weeks ago about going to part-time and she has yet to answer it. I went above to her supervisor and she made an excuse for her. Why they picked her for a supervisor I will never know.

No, everyone seems to have the same issue... [2008-12-01]
I couldn't get mine on the phone or to answer email, so I emailed MT questions and asked them what I wanted to know. Interestingly, they are still being held responsible to some degree, as they contacted my CCM and immediately I got a response from them. I got my questions answered. And I got what I wanted--which was to change my schedule. I told them I would go part-time if I didn't get the schedule I wanted (CCM before refused this change). I was asked please to stay full time and of course I could have my schedule. The Q knew when they did this last pay cut that many would quit. They have a hard enough time getting help as it is. My suggestion is be a squeaky wheel, though a fairly polite one.

i have no idea...this guy said [2008-12-01]
when I asked him what do I do now he said I don't know then quickly recovered with I suggest you keep checking until you hear from your supervisor and I told him that I'm on the East coast and my supervisor is on the West coast, and so that means it was 6 am when I got a ticket and he said that I should just keep checking till i hear from the supervisor after I send him an e-mail with the ticket number. However, my supervisor hasn't gotten back to me on much of anything unless I've requested to make up some hours or had to leave early then he got back to me, otherwise I usually hear nothing. So, I don't know. I looked up the policy online and it says we can be excused when the supervisor gets back to us...sigh.

Unbelievable [2008-12-01]
MQ just keeps getting more and more unbelievable. Have had one of my primary accounts for a very long time (going on 14 years with MQ) and the work has been slow and then just stopped, so I asked my sup and was told that they went to another vendor because of a better price. I can't tell you had discouraging this company gets. They can't even notify their employees that one of their more normal accounts is going elsewhere. I guess I should not be surprised, just upset as the ASRs I have been getting have been horrendous and the editing is slowing me now even more as the formatting itself is terrible. Thanks for listening. I know you all understand. I just want to crawl under a rock right now.

Totally frustrated [2008-12-01]
I keep reading these posts and the good part is, I can relate to the issues...the bad part is, we all have these problems and it seems nothing is done about them as far as MQ is concerned... First, I read the policy regarding no work SEVERAL TIMES...it is not very concise...saying they will pay you minimum wage and then saying you have to take PTO or make up the time. I am very angry as like others here, have followed the policy, called for the ticket number, wrote my CCM, CCA and CRC with the number. My reply from one (as the other two are still out of the office) was: Please review and follow the Work Availability Process. You may take PTO or flex your time. I encourage you to work with your CCM's during the upcoming holidays as they have been provided scheduling tools for each holiday and the weeks surrounding these holidays. I responded inquiring as to what these tools were. I was told The tools that are provided to the CCM's for the holiday are forecasting tools that provide volumes for the prior year during the days prior to and after the holiday (no mention of the actual holiday though...hmmm). If volumes are high they need additional hours, if volumes are low they must adjust the schedules for that time period. Then I am asked to please work with my CCM for the upcoming holiday schedule this month. I was told at the beginning of this year, that if you did not work Christmas last year, you had to work it this year. Nothing was mentioned about these tools and volumes. It was all about coverage. As we all know, and have been going through this for years every single holiday. I dont know about you, but this is all BS to me, very aggravating, frustrating, and insulting. I do not like being at the beck and call of a company, when I am ALWAYS there to do my job when scheduled, but they cant be there FOR ME when I am there to produce. I have put up with this too many years. Surely there is something we can all do as a united group? Any ideas?

Does anyone else have constant computer trouble with this junk they give us to work with? sm [2008-12-01]
My old computer was so slow and was constantly freezing up on me. I asked for a 'new' one and got it, but this one is just as bad. I can type and edit faster than the computer runs, so it's constantly freezing up and slowing me down. And believe me I'm not super-fast either...just average. It's so frustrating. Just another thing to drag my morale down even lower.

min wage [2008-11-30]
This was for 10/10 and 10/25 paychecks, the ASR rate has not gone down until the 12/10 paycheck right? They must be having to pay minimum wage if you don't make it with your hours and line count then, think that could be it. I asked payroll and have not received an answer yet.

You are all on a slippery slope with this one, and [2008-11-29]
But, I would seriously question my job security with MQ bu filing for something like this. You could end up shooting yourself in the foot big time. Like if you in particular don't type all work types and don't have knowledge in all work types, etc., that could come back and bite you. Its a very odd situation for sure. I 100% believe that MQ should just bite the bullet and pay you all for no work situations. However, they have dodged that bullet to date and are masters at the craft. I don't think, personally, that the unemployment thing would fly in your favor. I don't know any advice to give you all on how to fight it, but if I were an MT, I guarantee I would be getting paid for no work situations, and paid at my hourly benefits rate, not minimum wage. I do believe that some MTs do get paid as I described. One thing for sure, QA people do get paid when there is no work. They get their hourly rates, no questions asked. If there is no work, there is no work. I would NOT do as someone below stated, and stay signed into DQS but just log in and out of etime. I know for sure there are rules written somewhere - good luck finding them - that you must be logged into DQS and Etime at the same time, otherwise grounds for immediate dismissal. And, yes, MTs have been fired on the spot for this. Please don't do it, though, again, I understand your reasoning. I would never, ever go along with the -- releasing -- thing. As others have posted below, that is the magic word for MQ to get out of paying you, and you are agreeing to be released. In fact, since you all have to report the no work situation, it looks as if YOU are the ones asking for the release. Which is MQ's little bag of tricks to cover themselves from having to pay you for no work. I would never ever take PTO either. I would think the only way to fight this would be thru labor boards. But, again, I don't know how that would work for ya. Just to remember why MQ pulls the reasoning that you all have to make up work is that, in the day, therewere lots of MTs who were full time, didn't make up work, and some weeks had no income, even some pay periods had no income. When you have benefits, that becomes a BIG problem. There were lots of MTs who owed money to MQ for the weeks they chose not to work and not to make it up and that obviously didn't fly either. So, on one hand, I understand the logic on that part in order to keep your benefits. If you have benefits, you have to be sure you work full time, or you can and will lose your benefits, as you have to see the bigger picture of that whole situation. I feel sorry for you all, and wish I could offer some solution on how to fight them on this. Somebody needs to take a stand about it - its like the IC versus employee issue. It took a few years, but finally the IRS got them to admit that we were employees and not IC status. Of course, there were lots of things we lost when IC was taken away. Very confusing situation, but it shouldn't be that confusing. Doesn't anybody have that MetLife lawyer plan thru MQ? Somebody should use that benefit -- before its gone - and call for the free lawyer consult regarding this situation. I wish you luck. I chose to go with a company that pays for downtime and pays happily, but I know you all need help with this. Hang in there.

minimum wage on paycheck [2008-11-29]
I noticed that on my last paycheck I had 34 something hours paid at $7.95 which is min. wage for my state and also on the 10/10 paycheck the same thing. Is this because of the low ASR productivity and not making minimum wage with the hours I am doing. Does anyone know about this? I asked payroll. I hope it is not some mistake they are going to deduct from my paycheck.

I called 800# [2008-11-27]
I called800# and got a ticket number. I asked them what happens next. They told me to email my supervisor and tell her and she would check into finding work. I told her my supervisor was out until next Tuesday and did not leave a coverage person/number. So I went and found the two managers above her and emailed them as well with my ticket number. I dont anticipate hearing anything back, but at least I followed the procedure.

My CCM asked me to change to a different set of accounts becuase [2008-11-26]
these customers were dissatisfied with the international work. I asked if she meant India and she said overseas.

I have been asking for a raise since August [2008-11-26]
and did mention it again to her when I was asked to switch.

No idea... [2008-11-26]
I don't think that is one of those things we are supposed to be allowed to know now. I asked CCM a couple weeks ago while on the phone and they side stepped it very widely and changed subject. Manager 2 years ago had over 200 MTs under her.

oooh, I use to have a work flow manager [2008-11-26]
that got on my last nerve. Once I asked for PTO and she replied NOT APPROVED. She had to be exact on everything. She wanted to know where I would work the 7 hours because they use a 39 hour work week and I was not supposed to go over 39. I could tell she never did MT work before. maybe because this was all fairly still new with the change but she just use to bug me. I use to complain to my PS about her. I kind of miss him. He was more empathatic towards people and would listen to all of my complaints. Tell her you are going away for the weekend and that the plans were made in advance.

I am with you [2008-11-25]
My family asks me every year, are you going to come visit? I answer, no, I am scheduled to work and I need the extra money. Then there is no work and I have to sit home listening to my kids and DH gripe at me because we stayed home. Not like I have ever asked and been approved for a holiday off since I started working for this company.
