Thank you. That's a great idea. Have a nice day off :) nm [2008-11-19]

I don't think that's very nice...saying that [2008-11-14]
ASR (not ESR btw) would only speed up an idiot. While, it's doesn't for the most part speed me up, that's because I have 10 years' experience, great typing speed, and have built up my exapnders well. I'm no ASR fan, but I do know that it does speed up MTs who are either very new and/or not fast typers, so that's not cool calling them idiots.
I do totally agree with you that ASR is just a great excuse for MQ to lower our pay with their ridiculous claim of a 30% increase. I think, for the most part for most MTs the increase would be from 0 to 10% at best.
Yes, I did, and it was not a nice way to start my work day. They have the nerve. NM [2008-11-12]

You know if you live paycheck to paycheck or like me, single, that paycheck would be nice early. sm [2008-11-09]
Why is that a crime? Glad you have enough to live on obviously and are not hurting!
It'd be nice if they included the names of the banks so at least we could rule ourselves in or ou [2008-11-06]
Yes, usually she looks so nice [2008-11-05]
I didn't mean to be petty, just seemed strange to me that she'd pick something like that for such an important night. Must've just been the cameras, but that red just jumped out from the black and make her look pretty, well, fat in places. I just thought it was unfortunate 'coz she always looks so classy!
That's nice.... [2008-11-03]
I work for a local hospital and had this EXACT exchange with my supervisor which, of course, was AFTER the deadline for timecards. I work remotely and the remote time clock was down, so I emailed her with my in/out times. This happened 3 to 4 times throughout the pay period. The day AFTER timecards and revisions closed, she informed me that it was MY responsibility to make sure my swipes (punches) were correct, not HERS. I reminded her that I had emailed her on the days this had happened, and her reply? I can't keep track of every single email that comes through.I had to wait a full pay period to get the 32 hours of pay that I was owed and I'll be darned if nearly an exact scenario happened involvinhg a full week's worth of pay. Again, the remote time clock was down and remote MTs had to record their hours manually and then email them to the supervisor. Conveniently, a full 40 hours of my time didn't get picked up. This time, I went over her head to the supervisor of Payroll to ask if a separate check could be issued for the missing week. I had to wait 4 to 5 working days to get the separate check, but there was no way I was waiting until the next pay period for my money.
I'm seeking employment elsewhere. This is my full-time job and I have another IC position which is part-time. There's just no excuse for ANY supervisor/manager to blow off our hard-earned money with We'll catch it next pay period. We MTs work far too hard for our money for anyone to treat as if not paying us on time is no big deal.
Good luck with your situation and by all means I would advise going over her head. If nothing else, perhaps she'll think twice next time before she knowingly puts through an incorrect time sheet because she didn't want to be bothered making the corrections.
You have a nice day too, Suit! NM [2008-10-22]

Nice rant. Agree completely. [2008-09-06]
I know what you mean. My sister and I both work for the Q and sometimes we'll get together and start bellyaching. It's nice to have someone who's going through it too.
Nice thought, but really sort of closing the barn door [2008-08-13]
really wants to know who is posting and/or who you are, it has nothing to do with what is visible on this board, but what is visible on site log in information. So, call yourself anything, I agree on one hand, but in the bigger picture, you are never really truly anonymous on a message board anymore, let alone one where you have registered your email address on top of just posting. Your ISP is visible to the site admin, and your email address has been registered to site, with all the TOS clearly, or not so clearly explained.
I had a nice experience too.. [2008-08-02]
Sounded like an older doc, did a lovely job, understood every single word, and at the end he said, Thank you for taking this transcription, have a good day and God bless you. I was so delighted!!!
Ahh yes, but remember how nice it was... [2008-07-31]
when we lived in that blissful ignorance:-) Just kidding, I really did love working for MQ. Thought it was the best, bragged to everyone what a wonderful place it was, made GREAT money...just loved it. Now I try not to mention at all that I work for them.
You are correct. My PS has a nice title but makes less than I do and [2008-07-20]
does not know how to transcribe or edit a report. Of course that title will look good on her resume when MQ decides to dump her job like it did the Work Flow Coordinators and Quality Knowledge Leaders (now there's a title!).
Lots of people leave MQ abruptly. I am nice and went part time abruptly. [2008-07-19]
The thing I question is if I have had no contact with QKL or whatever the title is lately, how neccessary are they to justify their pay. Why can't the supervisor do what your QKL did? What do supervisors do all day that the Impact Room can't monitor?
Wow. How nice of you to take time to explain & no [2008-07-17]

Hi Busy. Nice to see you're still around somewhere. [2008-07-12]
Nevermind McQuestions who is obviously just severely disgruntled. Then again, you've weathered some real humdingers on this board.
Here's my wave and salute to an MQ and MTStars Veteran!
I got tired of trying to say nice things because SM [2008-07-11]
people were getting too nasty. Just got tired of it.
I know I still like MQ so that is all that matters.
nice [2008-07-04]
i like the nice attitudes. i was going to come in here and complain about how, even though the late afternoon e-mail yesterday i got from my supervisor seemed to say my primaries were loaded with work and even backed up, i am today getting work from places i have never ever had before. yuck. but i have to remember that lately its been better than it has been, so i shouldn't complain if this is only happening to me every once in a while now instead of every day. i must remember that i just had a nice long vacation and i can suck it up today.
happy 4th everyone.
Congrats! Nice to know there are great [2008-06-22]
places out there. I'm not ready to leave just yet, still doing well; however, I'm smart enough to know that COULD very well change in the near future.
I'm liking the part about being able to look up samples and the instant messaging!
Good luck in your new job!
I finally did that too. I got an offer from a very nice [2008-06-18]
company and am getting paid another cent a line. So happy I did that. After 10+ years at MQ, I just got tired of the concerns this company has and worrying about what was next around the corner. I still work flex/part-time so I do have my foot in the door but the bulk of my existance isn't MQ anymore. Such a relief.
very nice, thank you. [2008-06-09]

Off topic-something nice for my fellow MQ MTs [2008-06-08]
The Splashes Of Life
A Sioux Indian story...My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stoneinto the water. He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person.
You may create lots of splashes in your life but the waves that come
from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures, he said.
Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle
and that circle will also touch many other circles.
You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle
to send the peace of that goodness to others.
The splash that comes from anger or jealousy will send those feelings to other circles.
You are responsible for both.
That was the first time I realized each person creates the inner peace or discord that flows out into the world. We cannot create world peaceif we are riddled with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger. We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not. Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all other circles of life.
Remember the eternal wisdom:
Whatever You Focus On Expands ....

That would be nice if you could [2008-06-02]

Getting everything all nice and tidy for our new [2008-06-01]
giving notice [2008-12-03]
it is so nice that you heard from your person. I put my notice in on November 25th, 2008 and I have still not heard from my supervisor. She called me today on my PTOs and never mentioned a thing. I gave her until the 10th of December and then I will either be going flexible part-time or I will have to quit. I guess if she is not going to answer me then it will be quitting time. I had a great supervisor beforebut unfortunately and very mysteriously disappeared. One day she was there and the nextday I was told we had a new supervisor. I was told she no longer worked for MQ.
Warning?? [2008-12-03]
QA wonders why MTs get ticked off? nice tone in that message!! ASR does insert milligrams. If I'm editing 644 lines an hour, I don't have time to correct it. You're warning us? You cut it out!
Ms Cranky Pants [2008-12-03]
I did read the posts below. But really, your post wasn't very nice. You did warn us and you did tell us to cut it out. I'm sorry for jumping on you. I think we have all had about enough of Medquist and I take offense to just about everything right now. I shouldn't have taken it out on you. By the way, that was the first negative post I have EVER posted.
Is Medquist Cbay? (sorry I'm dumb) [2008-12-03]
I recently was laid off from an account I typed for for over five years. The in-house Transcriptionist left, and they couldn't ever hire anyone to replace her, so they are now going to Cbay. They were nice and gave me two weeks notice. I've been trying to read about this company. Is it right in that Cbay bought Medquist, or am I reading this incorrectly. Can I contact Cbay and inquire about a job with them (maybe I could do one of the five doctors I've done the past five plus years). Thank you kindly. This is the second time this has happened to me right before Christmas.
New TTer too [2008-12-03]
I started with TT last week and am still doing PT with MQ. I had forgotten what it was like to really type a report!! I love TT so much already! They are incredibly nice, they have great dictators and I don't have to type ASR unless I want to! I think we made a good move!
why don't you READ the CP before "warning" big shot -- sm [2008-12-03]
Hey galliewaggle ... My account is STRICTLY VERBATIM. That means if they say MG, I type mg .... if they say milligram, I type milligram.
Maybe someone should put YOUR name on a LIST. nice way to threaten people who are already starving to death at this so-called profession. IObviously you are a very important person ... You should be quite proud of yourself.
I started with TT last June when we got [2008-12-03]
our original pay cut. After 16 years with MQ I was really ticked off. I still worked FT both jobs until last June when I went part time with MQ. Had to just to keep the same salary. I will not do speech with TT as I am not willing to work for that line rate, but they have been really good to work for. I still stay part time with MQ and it is nice having a back up when TT is slow, or vice versa.
I used my name in July 2007 [2008-12-02]
I was not quite as nice as moonchild. I simply stated the impact the changes in July 2007 had on my life. I was polite, but my anger oozed. I'm still here. No repercussions. I never thought to not put my name. Everything I said was the truth as were the predictions I made... that my future with MQ... well, the days were numbered. And they were. Flex PT now. Good move for me.
I'm checking in too! [2008-12-02]
I agree with catz wholeheartedly. I left MQ in late July. It took me a solid 3 months to get up to snuff with my new company. I was a real turtle, just kept plugging along, but my new employer allows for a learning curve (as they should). Re exit interview, the only one who interviewed me was my supervisor on or about my final day. I was honest and said that after 7 years (5 of which were really great) I couldn't live with the 45% reduction in my pay and that the final straw had been the cesspool. She was very nice, said that she was hearing the exact same thing from those exiting, and that if I ever wanted to come back she would recommend my re-hire. MT'g has become very iffy in the last few years, but, after considering leaving the field altogether, I'm happy to tell you that there are companies out there that still value their employees, don't outsource, and where you can make a decent living.
not 2 min. after I sent it... [2008-12-02]
I got a call from my CCM. He has always been nice and funny. sometimes he takes a while to get back with regard to holiday PTO, but he also admits that he was trying to be fair based on prior supervisors approving stuff already, etc, so he has been pretty nice so far...and I was pleasantly surprised when he asked why I was leaving and I told him straight up why, and he said (much to my surprise) that he UNDERSTANDS and its not unlike concerns other transcriptionists in our group have had, and so he really doesn't have an argument against it, but hates to see me go. He told me he rarely gets any corrections about my work and that made me feel good to hear, and said that he hates to see me go, asked what it would take to stay and unfortunately he understands my concerns and issues because they are the same as others. He is very understanding, probably helps that he has small kids as well. he knows I'm a single mom. He did tell me that he would love if I could try to do part time, but he said that he will be in touch with me for sure before I leave. I was worried about a negative call, but was surprised. Sadly, I cried to him when telling him why because it wasn't a very easy thing, I've been with the original company for 10 years that MQ bought a few years earlier.
I'm so glad you heard from your supervisor [2008-12-02]
I'm so glad he had nothing but nice things to say to you and also validated your fears and concerns. It sure does feel good to hear kind things - its just too sad that the only time we seem to hear them at MQ is when we quit. Best of luck to you. You know you can always return and start immediately, so try not to be afraid, though I can totally relate. Been there, done that. I've been gone about 6 months now and still feel like MQ is my real employer. Its so hard to break the connection, I know. I was with them always, too, thru one company buyout after another. You will be fine and have a Happy New Year!
thank you so much... [2008-12-02]
and yeah, it was nice to be validated by my own CCM. I do feel a little nervous/anxious about starting new somewhere else, but like you said, I can always come back if I had to (emphasis on HAD to) and I am ready for a HOPEFULLY positive change. I've sadly been brought to tears many times in the last month and a half, and so I'm hoping this will be the step in the right direction for my small family. Thanks again for the kind words and I wish a happy new year to you as well!
I doubt if you will get fired, but I [2008-11-30]
wouldn't hold my breath until you get put on those accounts as we all know they don't even exist and so does he. For someone who is supposed to be so nice and fair, he certainly doesn't show it to the people who actually put the money in his pockets now does he???? All I have to say is I hope I'm around when all this turns on them, because it will eventually. You just can't treat a work force like this and not get yours in the end somehow.. My grandmother always said what goes around comes around and I have found that to be true throughout my entire life. Sooner or later you pay for the terrible things you do to others. MQ and its suits will have this turn on them sooner or later...
I'm with you, wannie [2008-11-29]
and never been told not to. Its one thing if you are uploading reports while not clocked in, quite another if you're logged in waiting for work to come your way. You are a lot more likely to get something if you are logged in as opposed to logging in at random. I don't see anything wrong with that!
It's really nice having access to the backlog....you can see what's out there without having to log in to DQS
Sick up and fed! [2008-11-27]
I will NEVER understand the mentality of this company. Why cant we have holidays off like everyone else? My team was told at the beginning of the year that we had to work Thanksgiving andChristmas this year if we had it off last year, no exceptions. I even worked last Thanksgiving but still was told I could not have it off. So I get up at 5:30 this morning to work, actually was lucky to get two hours in and then, that wonderful sign comes up: NO JOBS AVAILABLE. I happen to have made Thanksgiving plans for AFTER my work shift today, and there is no way I am going to try to make up work all night, that is if there is any.
Anyone else peeved about this? And on top of that, got an email from the PS yesterday saying Dont ask me to change any of your schedules, as I will be on PTO until next Tuesday. Must be nice...the upper suits get the holidays off! Arrghhhh!
don't want to hear it [2008-11-26]
did you notice how***** can sure dish it out in his nice emails, but at the bottom he puts contact your CCM and for further questions to the support email -- I'd say that's kind of being a coward if he doesn't want to hear what the people who actually do the work feel about his recommendations.
Thanks Debbie [2008-11-26]
I appreciate your opinion. I have been wondering about ASR myself. Like you, my luck seems to run better than many posters on this board. It is nice to hear a positive once in a while through all the negative. You are right, no place is perfect. MQ is not all bad. I am happy to have a job seeing unemployment rise and rise. I may just take that leap to try ASR. I certainly could use the extra money.
Have a wonderful holiday fellow MQr. :)
Ignore the other poster, that's what I plan to do. They have nothing better to do than hold a grudge and be negative. Must not have much going on in their life.
minimum wage chart [2008-11-25]

secret to high line count [2008-11-25]
I now know what new wonder drug those in management/high line count producers must be on: IT IS CALLED - MQrackcocaine. That must surely explain how **** thinks MTs can edit 600-642 lines per hour. I recently had a psychiatric report that was about 4200 seconds, excellent dictator, minimal changes and it generated 425 lines and took me about 1 hour and 20 mins to carefully edit with proofreading of every single word. So unless you upload a pile of jobs without editing, I DO NOT believe (with 30 years experience as an MT/ME, 5.5 years on ASR with MQ) that any MT in their right mind can edit what they state. Sounds to me like they want quality to suffer by cracking the whip (possibly due to crap produced by off-shore, non-English speaking MTs). I also believe that management is posting fake messages on this site that state the 1-hour challange produces 500+ lines per hour. That is utterly ridiculous. Post an actual itemized line count from a specific MT that shows how many jobs are signed off in an hour......then maybe I will believe the claims to fame of producing 500 or more lines per hour. MQ ceases to amaze me. The last thing that shocked the heck out of me is when QASAR first came out and the little explanations that showed depending on what type of error MT made...case in point MT is tossing the job over the fence (not exact words but close enough). The other reasons were nothing but accusatory. The world is not a perfect place, but the longer I work for MQ the more confused I get. Oh well, next ASR report and then later I will go grocery shopping and I had better grab a case of KRAFT dinner. Now that is cheap eating and in several months from now I will have a larger butt to type on.
On the good side of things, it is a beautiful winter day with sparkling frost on the ground. HAVE A nice DAY, LADIES AND GENTLEMAN.
Sincerely, fellow MT who shares all of your feelings/opinions/frustrations.
I left them because. . . [2008-11-23]
They require you have your own computer, which I bought when they said their program worked with Windows Vista, then a week after I started they changed their minds because their computer team couldn't make the program work with Vista. I was out $1200 for a new computer, all necessary programs. The computer team was smug and actually down-right rude with me although the MTs were nice. Anyone one to buy a computer that I used for only a week?
Worked for me.... [2008-11-23]
To tell the truth, I've used dial-up somewhat. I kept my dial-up connection a long time just as a backup. When I had to use it, gosh darn, it worked just fine I never noticed a bit of difference. So, it probably always took me 10 minutes to finish my current job, and by the time I had that done there was another cued up. That was working for MQ, using DQS, but I'm sure if you asked MQ Support they'd tell you no.
That being said, I worked for another company on another platform, and my dial-up connection wouldn't work at all. It was a horrid platform, and we had to load 3 different parts separately, first the audio VOX, then some kind of gateway to access an actual job, and lastly the editing platform. It was a real pain in the neck!
I certainly can't tell you why my dial-up worked perfectly with MQ-DQS and not at all for another company. Wouldn't the only variables be distance and/or location or the platform?
The dial-up connection I used was from a nice little mom & pop company around the corner (so to speak) and cost 14.99/month. Where I live, high speed average is 40-50, certainly not 70...unless it's bundled with a bunch of other services. Although, I would seriously recommend coughing up 15 bucks to try a dial-up before I dropped the high-speed.
Once again, I don’t know why dial-up worked for me, I only know it did.
OMG, I was just thinking about that [2008-11-22]
I thought the same thing, only 600 some top producers out of 5,800. That is not an average. Goes to tell me that there is GRAVY WORK FOR ASR.I actually called my new CCM. I was so ticked off yesterday and I think what made me so mad was how can I possibly get to 400 let alone 300 in an hour when others are making near 600. Also what really ticked me off was when Clarky dude stated to to TYPE INTENSIVELY and then get up for 5 minutes and take a stretch/break, etc. THAT TICKED ME OFF. I AM NOT A COMPUTER OR SLAVE DRIVER. THAT IS BULL CRAP. That was a slap in the face to me as there is NO APPRECIATION WITH THIS COMPANY. It was as if it was an honor to take a break.
Anyway, I was so ticked off I immediately called my new CCM. NEVER spoke to him before andonly hadcommunicated twice by email; I know I am lucky for that. Well,I was ready to leave a message when he actually picked up the phone. He was very nice. He stated he justgot that ridiculous email too and could not believe it. He thought it was sillyand wondered if there was truth in it.I told him I have an account that is horrible for ASR. I have to correct every 6 words. He told me to give him job numbers of the horribleASR reports and he would work with ASR and if they cannot come up with something to correct this, the accountmight be taken out of ASR completely.I am sure as heck going to fight it to be taken out of ASR. Not one sentence is ever correct. Thereare usually 2-3 wordsin a sentence that I have no idea where ASR came up with.
I was also told I am averaging 28 something in an hour. I did not get it. He told me the average was 30-38 and the high producers were like at 70-80. He also stated there are some that are very low producers in our groupwhich are at 13-17. He stated they were not going to make it. Also I supposedly do faster on ASR than line count which was a shock. I have no idea what he was talking about, but BEWARE, the company and CCM know exactly your averages ofline counts for both straight typing and ASR and are going by it.
Clarky dude can justkiss off. That was the most downgrading, juvenile, horrible email I have ever received from this company. The email is justmaking you feel badyou are not cutting it and want you to try to do just as good as theRARE BREED in this company. THOSE TOP PRODUCERSHAVE GRAVY ACCOUNTS CLARKY. GET A CLUE DUDE. Like to see you try typing. I guess we are not producing enough because he is not getting enough money IN HIS POCKETS FOR CHRISTMAS.
IT WOULD BE HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE of me to [2008-11-22]
put my speed on the fastest it will go and try to correct the reports. I tried today, though, why not? It's almost comical. There is NO WAY this can be unless you're doing the same canned report over and over and the dicatator is REALLY good. How many of us have those?
I believe he came up with 600+ because he figured if you tripled the speed, you'd triple the lines.
Excuse me, MQ, but I care about what I type. I'm not going to ruin someone's medical record to set a time speed. How dare you tell us to do this! I truly think you really have no concern on what the quality is that we're pumping out, unless of course, it can mean no RAISE for the MT. That's when you suddenly care.
I timed myself last night and averaged 176 lines per hour which, at 60% pay, will be $8.45/hr. nice. I sped up when I could but guess what, I was already doing that.
new company..sign me up [2008-11-21]
That would be a nice comeback to their backstabbing and manipulative ways.. Count me in if you set it up. . This is bad for all of us, but we can only hope that Karma comes back to bite all of them. I have the same problem with my hospital being sold out to Spheris, another Indian outsourcing gem of a company. With all the warningsof identifytheft, how can they get hospitals to agree to sending someone's health records over to India? Oh yeah.. never mind .. called the bottom line of course .. ugh..
I can [2008-11-21]
I always average about 2400 lines in an 8 hour day by the end of the pay period BUT I have worked on the same account for almost 8 years now, no ASR and hardly ever get thrown into the pool as it is an account with a nice work load for the MTs and we always meet TAT. This account requests only that their regular MTs do their work because of the big screw up last July when they opened the gates to hell and their work had so many errors with MTs unfamiliar with their work doing their notes. I use my Expander constantly. Anything and everything I can I put in it. I worked for this facility before MQ and if they ever up and leave MQ I would follow them as that is where my money is made. They also have written in their contract NO OVERSEAS WORK! I am very very fortunate so far, but these days with the economy in a slump I still do not feel 100% secure about my job. A local clinic which is huge near where I live is laying off and sending employees home early because of low patient count as people just cannot afford the copays. Scary times for everyone!
