In reading my post, I noticed a lot of words running into each other. It looked as if I had doubled spaced in spots, so I took out the extra spaces. I guess they really weren't extras after all, it justlooked that way. Now I know. Again, sorry if hard to read.

By not allowing us to spend the time on research or proofing, unless we want to make $2 a hour, the quality is gonna go out the window.
The 300 lines I got during that hour were clinic notes, I've dropped into the battlefield known as the county ER now so I've slowed considerably.
I haven't had an admission or discharge summary since the change. sniff
Oops, my 5 minutes are up....gotta run!

hah! [2008-09-15]
yes, someone get this person a qualude or something.
good god. and how the heck do you make that much money?? omg, i would never complain if i could even get close to making $28,000/yr. i work my butt off and get nowhere. and i feel like something is happening to the lines counts. i've been working really hard and for this same amount of effort i used to easily get 1200 and over, and now i'm just barely getting over 1000...has something changed? are they counting things differently...? i must just be tired and perceiving a different reality.
anyhoo...that was some ranting post. thanks for the entertainment, though i could not read every word.
for what its worth...cesspool, i enjoy your posts because i can relate to them. unlike the rant above.
we really should try to be a little more understanding of each other ya know? i'm glad some people find this job, oops, i mean career to be completely satisfying. i know i used to. but those of you like this need to understand that it is a whole different experience for some of us.
angelina post [2008-09-06]
oops, didn't read your post and you said exactly what I wanted to say!
verbatim schmatim [2008-08-28]
i've gota new attitude...
type it the way you want to, thats what i do.
okay, not really, i followsome rules, but not every single stupid knitpicking one. and i've never heard anything about it. oops, maybe thats because i decided to stop checking qasar. oh dear, whatever shall i do....
they are welcome to scold me. i would welcome it.
these rules are all too anal retentive and have absolutely nothing to do with patient care, which is the only thing we should really have to concern ourselves with, within reason.
seriously, i talk a lot, but i do try to do what MQ and the CP's say, but really, i'm tired of the intolerable levels of stress over it.
oh...i am so close to gone i can smell it.
oh, my [2008-08-07]
I'm sure your husband meant well, fixing dinner and all, but I'm sure you had to choke a little on that one - huh? As far as the changes, I think they're going on as we speak (oops, type - haha) but when we'll see them is anyone's guess!
for QA: standard headings [2008-07-15]
I need to make this fast.I got a report from an acct I used to some (ERs only), but this time it came as a split job (HP then proc. note). Of course, after I uploaded the first part, I realized I forgot to change the report type, so oops!
Of course, I had no control that he didn't put the impression in the HP, as he went into the procedure. Now I see a couple headings (only pre/postop dx) and also surgeon, but it says in black usersignname. This is new to me.
I have no idea if I should use those 3 things since it's a procedure and not a surgery, and the above.
Hope this makes sense. For anyone dredging in the cesspool, no doubt it should sound familiar.
Thanks in advance!
ooops [2008-07-08]
OMG so excited about my BIG FISH I cleaned out the live well to get out the other babies we caught, lol and accidently forgot one stuck up on side. Oops 95 degrees, hot and humid, went to get lewer caught it on that was still in boat and it just stunk, thought it was minow bucket, but got thinking and when we came back from taxidermist had to look and sure enough, a pretty good size crappie I missed. GROSSSSSS Sorry for the smell in the Midwest. Wow, got it out and buried it. Never will that happen again. Still better than typing this crap. hahaha
QASAR sound quality [2008-06-08]
I noticed this the first time around that we had QASAR and I think I mentioned it to one of the techs. Don't remember why that is so, but you're absolutely right about being able to knock out blanks. They're always embarking on something new all the time -- they should try to follow up on this -- oops, that's too logical and it also makes it easy for the MT (shame on me!)
Because it still works, such as it is! [2008-05-27]
Oops, I mean, that is, um.... If I HAD kept it!!
Got another call from the impact room [2008-05-21]
this afternoon. I have worked for MQ in over a month, but I'm still on their list. Every time one of those people call me, I tell them that and they say oops, we'll take you off our list. Yet, they still call.
I think from nowon, I'm just going to say sure, I can put in about6 hours tonight. Then maybe they won't bug the rest of you.
Just thought I would share these [2008-04-07]
Apparently, one MT at MQ, who shall remain nameless, has it quite good at the Old Q. Just thought I'd share this with everyone on this board, so we all can see what we're missing out on. Do you think if we made similar demands to our PS's that they would be granted? Do tell, what is your secret nameless one?
FROM THE COMPANY BOARD: I've been working for MQ for 12 years now part-time doing all work types, so I can't really tell you about radiology. Honestly, other than having to type 3 different hospitals if my primary runs out, which is very rare, I would not still be with them if I didn't make very good money. I really don't understand why some people blame only MQ for their problems. Look around and you will see that there are many companies out there having a hard time making it these days. MQ, at this point, is the largest company and some people can't handle that and will always bad mouth them. Good Luck with your job search!
THIS NAMELESS MT GOES ON TO SAY: At this point.....I make top dollar at MQ. I am part-time and have been working for MQ over 16 years. The day they tell me I have to do ASR, I will quit, but until then I am satisfied with what I make per hour. Look around...there are layoffs everywhere and I am grateful for my job with MQ for now.
A LITTLE MORE FROM KATIE (OOPS!): Back when all the changes were being made, I was told I had to be trained on ASR, but it was cancelled. When ASR was introduced...I told myself that if I had to do it I would quit. I will not train a computer to do my job that took me years to learn. That is just the way I feel and I will stick to my plan if forced to do so. I guess everyone thought or thinks that if you don't learn ASR you will be without a job...not so. I have interviewed with other companies and I feel confident in saying that I will do fine without having to learn ASR. I must say, though, working for MQ has definitely taught me more than I think any other MT company out there could have. So, if I quit because of ASR, it really doesn't matter to me. I just have to remember that the past is the past and making $40.00 to $50.00 an hour is almost impossible to do anymore unless you have tons of good dictators with normals to go with them. I am just biding my time, because you never know :)
Thanks for the reply [2008-03-30]
Thank you for the reply. 161 or so views and only 1 reply! I appreciate your insight. I did add adn to change to and since I tend to type it that way. oops. Thank you for your reply and welcome!
Twiddling fingers, eating beans for supper & listing on E-bay [2008-03-26]
I run out of Rad work constantly now. Am listing my unused possessions on E-bay in between waiting for a radiology job to appear in my queue. Will have to start looking elsewhere soon. Loyalty won't put food on the table much longer. Between being taken from being at top of the payscale when we were paid by the line to the bottom of the bottommost payscale being paid by the report, then oops... there's a pay scale freeze on, and now this, not even enough work to keep us busy. Have they overhired? Let other basic 4 transcriptionists take from our dwindling work pool? I have 30 years experience in radiology and almost 10 with Medquist. Does it make any sense to keep major producers out of the work they are experienced at? Do they want us to go work somewhere else? Hopefully Medquist figures this out quick.

what is a primary and oops.
thanks [2008-02-21]
hey all. done working for the day. that earlier venting was done while working (oops!). i appreciate the feedback. i'll think about writing to MQ questions.
you know, i have looked hard for other jobs in the area, real jobs at hospitals and such. it seems like no one is hiring or i'm too old or whatever. i can't find a job anywhere. and i did look into other online MT jobs for other companies, but i have to have health benefits, and my guess is that most of these other similar companies are probably pretty much the same. (?) maybe. i did apply to one, just for part-time, to subsidize my current pathetic salary. and, there are true benefits for being at home and having the hours i currently have, so i'm trying to hang in here.
its just so hard. i (we) work really hard, can barely take breaks, and everything MQ does seems to make it harder and so they can pay us less (changing the incentives, the ASR pay being less, etc, etc)...the bar higher and higher. i'm just tired.
every time i get to where i really think i can't take it anymore, something happens that makes me think i should hang in here, things get better for a while, and i start feeling comfortable and getting a higher line count. i know the whole company is undergoing changes. but i feel really out of the loop. like someone mentioned maybe someone good will buy us? what? i am so clueless about anything that goes on around here. i just try to do my job and not bother anyone.
when i have e-mailed my supervisor, or talked to her on 1 or 2 occasions, i feel like she is so overwhelmed that she really can't help my concerns much. i get 1 or 2 word responses to my e-mails, or maybe even just a response to 1 question i asked, when i had asked 3, and i feel like i just don't want to bother her too much. i'm a big one for cutting people slack and trying to understand that they too are probably feeling similarly - though of course, they get paid by the hour.
i wouldn't mind all these constant changes if i got paid hourly. it would still be hard, but at least our livelihood wouldn't depend on us having to learn everything faster than possible. i'm good, but i don't have super powers, and it takes a while to get the hang of the ASR stuff, and reading through the client profiles, and blah blah...
anyway...thank you for listening and letting me rant. i've had no one to talk to. i live in my house, alone, and there is no one, and sometimes i just freak out.
so thanks.
those of you who sent me e-mails directly, i appreciate it, but i'm hesitant to write back because i'm really paranoid about MQ knowing what i'm saying....am i safe even here? does my e-mail address show up for anyone? am i just being silly?
i don't know.
anyway...thanks again.
I think it is more that the 1 space thing never should have been instructed [2008-02-01]
Another big OOPS. lol
A user friendly program helps - sm [2008-01-30]
F4 on, F4 off...oops forgot to turn it back on or back off, delete...backspace after any expansion for punctuation, and on and on. I for one did much better in MTShell. Never have bought into the I can do 10,000 lines a day garbage.
Hey MQ, knock it off with the TEAM talk...sm [2008-01-25]
I am getting sick and tired of the Team analogy. You obviously don't have a clue what a team is, what one does, how it functions, and clearly don't know how to manage one.
I don't know a lot about sports, but I enjoy watching some and have noticed a few things. In most sports I've watched, the teams have certain players in certain positions for a reason - because they're good at them. That's what they were hired for, and that's what they are best at and get the big bucks for.
What I don't see is a game being played where every week a player is in a different position. Or worse yet, everyquarter or every inning or everyplay they switch positions. A team who would do that simply wouldn't have a winning record - and the managers and/or coaches of that team would be the laughing stock of the professional sports world, and would be fired by the owners.
A good coach or manager wouldn't bring in a 350-pound linebackerwho can't kick to kick the winning field goal (and thensend him an email chastizing him for his lack of kicking abilities!). A NASCAR tire changer wouldn't be switched to crew chief to call the final laps of a hot and heavy race. Doing things like that won't win you a Super Bowl, World Series, or a NASCAR Championship.
You, MQ, are basically running your *team* in this way -Where once you were the leader in the industry, now you have a losing record and are the laughing stock of our industry.
Team is not the first word I think of when I think of the company I once loved to work for. Cult is what comes to mind. The MTs are the workhorses who are sent outto peddle pamphlets and flowers in the airports to bring in an income for the organization. Anyone above them is only allowed to do what they're told to do and say what they're told to say and spew the rhetoric of the organization in happy phrases like - we're a great team, we're the leader in the industry, everything's just peachy....or canned text like -gee, nobody else is having a problem - it's always slow this time of year - that's the way it's always been - the numbers are the same, blah, blah, blah. It's like talking to a cult member.
You, MQ,failed miserably with your *harmonization* program a few years ago when you rearranged the seats in the orchestra and gave everyone a different symphony to play for the opening piece. Even a grade-school music student knows percussion sits by percussion, woodwinds by woodwinds, brass by brass, etc. Orchestras are arranged the way they are arranged for a reason and they make beautiful music because of it. When places are switched, music keys are changed, and musicians are given unfamiliar instruments to play, it's only a disaster... not harmony... and I think you learned that.
And as I said, you're not doing too well with your new *team* effort either. So I have a little suggestion for you...
If you want to be a team and harmonize, you need to treat your players like a team and let them showcase their strengths and arrange your orchestra so beautiful music flows effortlessly. You need give your drummers back their drums, the saxaphone players back their saxes, andlet your pitchers pitch, your catchers catch, your quarterbacks throw, your kickers kick, your drivers drive, and your crew chiefs call the race, and youwill once againhave a lean, mean, winning machineand get back to being the leader in the industryyou once were.
If you want a winning team again, put your specialty MTs in their specialities, fix your sound quality issues, etc. And most of all, you need to get rid of your liabilities. If you have MTs who aren't pulling their weight or showing up for their shifts you need to get them into training camp or send them packing. You can get rid of a ton of your bean counters by going back to a simple rate and bonus schedule. An MT does more than 10,000 lines a pay periodthey get $50 and $10 for every 1000 above that. Even a monkey could look through 6000 MT payrolls and check off those who got a bonus and those who didn't and do the math.KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid - it saves time and money.
You have a great asset in your good MTs and an even greater asset in your platform... second to none... but without team players in their proper positions, your assets are worthless.
I could make a ton more suggestions, but I've gotten too long here. All I'm saying right now is - nobody wants to buy a losing professional sports team, and nobody is going to want to buy this organization the way it stands today -so you need to turn this *team* around and you need to do it fast.
If you do - I will be the first MT in line jumping up and down with my hand in the air and my helmet (oops... I mean headset!) on yelling *put me in coach!!*
ASR [2008-01-25]
In most instances you are probably correct, but it depends on the hospital. Originally ASR seemed to help those difficult dictators out because eventually if they were corrected enough times the voice would finally recognize what they were saying, however, now it seems like it is just a money saving event for the hospital and a cost to the MTs. I have a hospital that just went to ASR and it is tough, even for the English-speaking good dictators. It takes time, but stinks for the MTs who have to fix the reports. Frankly, ASR is no different than QA (which I did for years) and we should be paid a QA rate for fixing these reports. Ha, ha, ha, oops sorry just fell off my chair.
Regardless, feast or famine, good report or bad report, it is what it is. I have been plowing through the changeswith some really bad months, but now starting to see some really good months. If ASR is the change that is happening, then plow through it. I am not sure any of us has a choice, except to keep changing companies, who in turn will go the same route.
We all have choices, unfortunately we cannot choose which way this wind is going to blow, we can either decide to sway with it or move to a new climate. Hope everybody has a great weekend; there is always overtime.
evening production pay [2008-01-24]
If the accidental deletion of evening production pay on the 01/25 check as notified by the PS is minimal and should not have too big of an impact, then does that also mean that the evening differential pay itself is also minimal and barely makes an impact??? Oops, sounds like they admitted that the shift differential is too small to notice!
