minimum wage on paycheck [2008-11-29]
I noticed that on my last paycheck I had 34 something hours paid at $7.95 which is min. wage for my state and also on the 10/10 paycheck the same thing. Is this because of the low ASR productivity and not making minimum wage with the hours I am doing. Does anyone know about this? I asked payroll. I hope it is not some mistake they are going to deduct from my paycheck.

with this new cut, paycheck will be 40% less since July, nm [2008-11-20]

illegal if paycheck is not on time [2008-11-10]
It is illegal to not get paid on the day you are supposed to be paid. So, if the pay is not there today, I would say people would have a case to have MQ pay their late charges, etc., regardless of who's fault it is.

Paycheck in Bank 11/10/08 [2008-11-10]
If you have direct deposit with Bank of America, check your account. I just checked at 0324 central deposit is pending. So, apparently, Bank of America posted direct deposits as of midnite Sunday. Other banks may do the same.

Yes, it was included in the paycheck. [2008-11-10]

My last paycheck totally sucked. s/m [2008-11-10]
I am making about $300 less a paycheck now than I was 6 months ago -- because of ASR. My theory is that all the easy work is being outsourced, and we're left with the crap dictators. Makes no sense, since most of the ESL dictators seem to be Indian -- why wouldn't they send that work first?

Paycheck being deposited now Wed? [2008-11-09]
It is now Sat and no paycheck. I believe my bank Chase JP Morgan will not have paycheck depositedon Monday either and since Tuesday is a Holiday, that means not until Wed? What do you think?

You know if you live paycheck to paycheck or like me, single, that paycheck would be nice early. sm [2008-11-09]
Why is that a crime? Glad you have enough to live on obviously and are not hurting!

The bonus pay that was due on the 10/25 paycheck was the monthly incentive bonus for September. [2008-10-26]
It usually comes in a separate check, but this time they included it in my regular check under bonus- incentive under the column this period. The last weekend or autumn rush or whatever they called it bonus they ran is paid out in the 11/10 paycheck, and the weekend bonus they offered this weekend will be paid out in the 11/25 paycheck. I hope this helps!

I check every paycheck. Only one time did [2008-10-26]
Maybe you could send your pay info to mtquestions? That is how I got my problem corrected that one time. At the time, my supervisor didn't seem to understand what the problem was so I sent it to mtquestions and they helped me.

I received a bonus on my paycheck which cannot be the autumn bonus [2008-10-25]
because I was out of town during autumn bonus so I suspect it is the monthly bonus. Never received 2 checks in my life from MQ at the same time. Only 1 checkaround the 10th and one check around the 25th.Previous checks around the 25th show a bonus each time which again Iassume is the monthly bonus.

I actually got mine on my regular paycheck today...nm [2008-10-24]

Paycheck [2008-10-03]
Will MQ mail paychecks to us instead of direct deposit? I'm getting nervous, since my bank was bought out. I'd like to close all my accounts, but you can't pay bills without a checking account.

I agree. I'll leave pretty much the second my paycheck declines, but not before. [2008-08-08]

Question on last paycheck. I am due my last [2008-07-09]
check on July 10th, but just received my return labels for my computer yesterday. I need to buy a box, etc., so can't return it for a day or two. Does anyone know if they hold our last paycheck until they get the computer back? I had counted on that check, but now am worried I might not get it. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks bunches! Your soon to be officially ex-coworker. But I'll still post my Cbay gossip as new stuff comes up, if you're interested.

Paycheck DEDUCTION.. whats going on? [2008-06-10]
Well, I have my fears that the Q is penalizing me for not hitting my quota. My check today was short...had an unusual deduction of $209 - Awards. Anybody have this happen to them? I have received no explanation or warning (other than I have been short on my quota on several occasions in the recent months and am in theoral warning phase.)

Today's Paycheck [2008-05-09]
am I mistaken, or isn't today (Friday, May 9)payday? Just checked my on-line banking statement......zilch....no Medquist deposit made.........anyone else? Feedback???

paycheck [2008-05-09]
Just found mine on my banking-on-line website. Should not have looked. It is the LOWEST paycheck EVER received from MQ for a full 80 hour pay period. What next? I get to PAY THEM for ALLOWING ME to work for them?

Formula for estimating paycheck amount (sm) [2008-05-04]
Does anyone have a reliable forumula for estimating whattheir check will be? I had a good one before I started ASR, but for obvious reasons, it doesn't work anymore. Thanks ...

me too. This paycheck had under 100 lines straight [2008-04-25]

If I proofed every single report, my paycheck would suffer a lot as [2008-04-18]
responsibility first to provide a client ready report, Im just saying that I am confident enough that I do a good enough job that I dont have to go back over what I took time in typing. Are there some errors, probably some, but nothing that would greatly affect patient care IMO. I dont fret over whether to hyphenate follow up and I dont worry so much about missing a comma or two. Like I said, I feel I take the time as Im actually typing or editing the report that I do not need to go back over it again. I guess you could say I do my proofing as I go. It works for me and have always gotten good reviews - back when we had them. As far as medical terms, I never, ever put a term that I have never heard before, even it is very, very clear, unless I look it up and check the meaning. I mean even its something like the bowel was resected I would never put that if it was the first time I had heard it unless I checked to see if the bowel could be resected.

min wage [2008-11-30]
This was for 10/10 and 10/25 paychecks, the ASR rate has not gone down until the 12/10 paycheck right? They must be having to pay minimum wage if you don't make it with your hours and line count then, think that could be it. I asked payroll and have not received an answer yet.

ASR RATE [2008-11-30]
This pay cut starts on the 12/10 paycheck correct? Well I received $7.95 an hour for 30 some-odd hours on my last two paychecks. I did only do like 6,000 lines today in the payperiod, think they are having to pay the min wage to make it legal for those hours worked? I can't imagine what will happen when the new ASR rate kicks in. All they are doing is offering classes on how to get faster on ASR, I don't think they are taking into consideration our feelings and I highly doubt they will change their minds about the pay cut. I need to get a new job. Any ideas on companies to work at home from that provide computers that are hiring?

I was doing... [2008-11-30]
50/50 before this change in mid October, and I did well because I was on my primary that i had for a few years...but since the new change, lost my primary, and now practically 95% ASR...I swear I can count on my 2 hands how many reports I TYPED last week....so I've gone below min. wage, as noticed by the min. wage listed on my paycheck! yet before this change I was doing 50/50, on my primary that I was used to for years, and did great. now..ha.

I agree. I'm definitely not busting my rear [2008-11-29]
this morning. I know when my paycheck comes I will be glad I stayed logged in this morning but it's dreary outside, chance of snow, family is all still sleeping (including cat and dog) so I'd really like to curl up with a good book while everything is quite. But alas, guess I'll get back to this ER note. I hope you have a great day!

ASR rethink [2008-11-26]
Hi all, well, I have to eat my words. I said I was done with ASR, but when thinking things over (looking for another job at 50+) I began to think about maybe speed on ASR would make up for any lost pay on line count. Well, I have been doing nothing but ASR for the last 2-3 days and I have increased by paycheck almost double simply because I don't have to slow down my production with LONG ESL discharge summaries to type, etc. I must say, I was skeptical, but with speed you can really increase your paycheck doing ASR even with a reduction in line rate.

wow [2008-11-26]
Advantage, you really need a life.......there are more things in life than sitting here razing people because of their opinion. MQ is not the best place in the world to work, but if you would care to look around you, the economy is not doing very well and I would just be thankful to have a paycheck if my life was as obviously miserable as yours..........Yes, I am happy working and making enough money to feed my kids. Have a good day!

could i get fired? [2008-11-25]
if i wrotewhoever it was that sent us thatlatest e-mail? i really want these people to know just how criminal their actions are, or at the very least so utterly heartless. when i first started working here, i was bringing home between $800 and $900. today's paycheck was $468!!! so even if my average high paycheck was $760 or so, i am averaging a loss of at least $600/month. its a good thing my son is grown andi amno longer really the single mom i used to be and now only have to worry about feeding myself, because if that were the case, we'd be out on the street living in a box. i just don't see how they can get away with doing everything they possibly can to lower our wages and then have the nerve to tell us we should worker harder. its really difficult to work harder when you already work as hard as you can AND you are so depressed you can barely function. happy employees make productive employees. these people are beyond stupid.

2000 line days are long gone [2008-11-21]
Old, Old, Old MT, Me too. I've been with MQ for about 12 years now, I started in the Fort Lauderdale office. I started out doing transcription temporarily while I was in college but got hooked with the mass amounts of money I made back then. I even told all my friends, stop whatever you're doing and do transcription - you can work from home AND take a look atthis paycheck !! Line count bonuses - weekend bonuses, etc etc - always amounted to hundreds of added dollars to my paycheck. I often made more income in bonus money than with production income. It has been a lonnnnng time since I have seen a decent bonus that added more than just a couple of dollars. My production used to be about 2000 lines a day, I was the highest producing Transcriptionist in our office. I had the same account every single day and tons of full reports in my shortcuts. All I needed to do were make a few minor adjustments to each and then I was off to the next. Now, with ASR I am very lucky to do 1200 lines a day and I can't even describe the money I've lost over the past few years with the decreased production. Now, the company email that announces that they are paying too much money and will be cutting our ASR pay. I am trying my best to be positive in this economy and be grateful that I have a job but I truly wonder how much longer I can survive on the little bit that I make these days. Anyway, just wanted to chime in, Old Old Old MT to let you know you are not alone. I'm not really what I would call an old timer but I have certainly been around MQ long enough to know that the days of 2000 lines are long gone.

I called Labor Board in my state [2008-11-20]
minimum wage on our paycheck, nothing we can do. If we do not like what is going on, then go to another company.

percentage of ASR [2008-11-20]
I would say 95% of the work I do is now ASR. Can't wait to see my paycheck in December. If I didn't have only 2-1/2 years to retirement I would be long gone from MQ.

I think it is important for us to remember this ... sm [2008-11-20]
The ASR rate cut is definitely something that hurts. I don't think we should really be surprised. I do have to say that when I've looked at other companies, the Q has consistently paid higher than other companies for editing work. The one thing that I am trying to remember is that when we are complaining about our ASR rate cut there were many in management who were let go - they do not have a paycheck at all now. The Q has not done this to MTs. I am trying to be mindful of the fact that our country is experiencing a 16-year high of unemployment rates. Each week layoffs in the thousands are announced by huge corporations - even this week CitiGroup announced a 53,000 employee termination. I can promise you that nothing illegal has occurred in this sad change, though. A business can make any changes in pay that it needs to to survive or remain competitive. What is happening here is happening in many other career paths, too. I don't think it will be any more newsworthy or shocking to news media or government officials than anything else occurring in this economic recession. JMHO

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. [2008-11-19]
Until we, as a group, start valuing ourselves, then we will not be valued by management. We are not simply typists. We are professionals and should be treated as such. Because I rarely post, I will repeat this once more. I am now in my third year of medical school, an am ranked #8 in a class of 140. I passed the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) on the first try, essentially without studying. And I have done this while working TWO jobs (yes, I moonlight, MedQuist. Bite me!) If this post gets me fired, well whoop DE do for my Subaru! One of the only reasons I was still working was so that I could E-mail my supervisor (only God knows who that will be in 18 months, maybe Pradeep Patel!) so the name on my paycheck would read Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx, M.D. The information that each and every one of you has is INVALUABLE. What we need to do is put pressure on our congress to pass a law making offshorting of medical records ILLEGAL! and cut the #)@#%$ legs out from under Medquist and every other MTSO that offshores work. Then let them scramble for employees to get this work done, and I hope every one of you out there asks for a raise then. A relative of mine recently had an appendectomy, and the hospital bill came to $32,000 for 1) An emergency room stay, 2) Admission at 8:00 am for surgery at 10:00 am, 3) Laparoscopic appendectomy, and 4) Discharge the next day at 12:00 pm. At most, the MTSO that does their transcription got an H&P, an OP report, and a Discharge Summary, maybe the radiology report from the CT scan. I GUARANTEE you that, at most, that was maybe 300 lines of transcription or so. So, maybe at 10 or 12 cents a line, that was MAYBE 45 dollars out of 32,000! Don't feed us this crap, MedQuist! There are three characteristics of any purchase, and you can only ever get two of the three. They are VALUE, SPEED and QUALITY. Which one is MedQuist giving up?

Hi again ceci [2008-11-19]
You would be making 0.57 I think and the first time you will see it on your paycheck I believe would be the December 24th check, because the one on the 10th will be the last one from this month up until the end of November, then starting December 1st through the 15th will go on that 24th check and that's where we will all see the BIG OUCH!!! Hope this helps.

oh, I might add..... [2008-11-19]
the ones who can't complain have a a hubby with a fat paycheck providing them a roof over their head!!

It is possible. [2008-11-19]
I was doing it at Spheris. I worked occasional OT, but usually just 40 hours a week. I had a stable account that rarely ran out of work, and learned it very well. I had many op reports macro'd, and used Expanders to the max. When I was working, I worked, didn't dink around doing other things. I always made the maximum production pay, which made a big difference in my paycheck. Unfortunately, that situation came to an end when my account switched to ASR. I left Spheris and floundered around for a couple months until I found my new company, where I am building myself back up to the income level I'm used to. It CAN be done. I honestly don't know why you say it can't. And with such conviction.

Huh? They told you to highlight and type over? [2008-11-19]
WTH? We aren't supposed to do that. They told us from the beginning that would be a no-no. When I took my initial training 2 years ago, someone actually asked that and they said that was wrong. Anyway, I understand how you feel. I was working on an account Saturday that was ASR but the account had a pretyped standard with fill in the blanks. That was a joke. That should have been a transcription job. It actually would have been a good candidate for F11. I truly don't believe that anyone at the Q actually understands this monster because they don't have to use it like we do. Here is a good idea for MQ training for supervisors, managers, etc. They have to work a whole month on this. They get paid what we do. See how much they like their paycheck. Would things change if they didn't get paid like they are used to?

right before Xmas [2008-11-18]
Oh ya....like she said....Happy Holidays from MQ, screw u from MQ. I can take alot *** but when it comes to my paycheck....

That is the problem. Everyone trying to [2008-11-18]
find a new job all at once. I left 1-1/2 years ago when the changes started. All it took was 1 paycheck after the incentive was cut and I lost almost $400. I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life from coming back and reading this board. I truly feel for each and every one of you.

To My Fellow MT's. sm [2008-11-18]
While I do not work for Medquist and don especially those who support a whole family on their MQ paycheck. I know this will not put food on your table or gas in your cars, or money in yourwallet, but I sincerely mean it.

Biting the hand [2008-11-17]
I have never missed a paycheck since I worked for MQ. Like I said, no company is perfect. True we are all entitled to our own opinions, but why keep staying with something that is not working for you. There are tons of other companies out there. I do understand your venting, as I run into the same situations too, but I just do not know what we can do about it. Find out who your regional director is for your service area he/she may be able to help you with your concerns like PTO. It is frustrating but sometimes this board comes across to those who do not work at MQ as a place no one would want to work, and that is just not the case.

Yup, me three.... [2008-11-16]
Friday had 8 different accounts, half in SA2, I'm SA1. About 1/4 of my day's work, if that,is my primary.....so much for familiar accounts. A hundred bucks less on the old paycheck.....well, no wonder. Who benefits??? The Q of course.....it saves them money putting MTs on accounts we don't know....Yea, so much for familiar accounts and so much for our primaries....what a joke..

line count question [2008-11-14]
I am fairly new to MQ, started in April and was able to get my line count no problem until the past few weeks.. (I am part-time).. I had one week were I was off but the next week was able to barely make it. I retained my same primary account but all my normal doctors I had grown used to don't come to me anymore? Plus, can anyone tell me if not getting your line count has an affect on your paycheck? thanks.

gave fair warning [2008-11-12]
I did e-mail my supervisor today and wrote in letters a full half inch high - WHERE IS MY paycheck?!?!? I gave fair warning that if my check is not in my mailbox tomorrow morning (Thursday) the phone lines between my house and every soul at Medquist will be burning. First question I want answered is whether the CEO, CFO, etc got their paychecks on time! I am prepared to demand that they overnight me my check if it isn't here. Ihave incurred late fees now from my cable company and renters insurance company because they are due the same day my check gets here. I am not amused!
