Best of luck to you! I am sure you will [2008-11-30]
land on your feet soon in a new company, settle in quickly and make the $$ again, when you can then look back and actually laugh at the MQ days. It takes a while to get to the laughing part, tho, but it does come, like working thru the stages ofmassive grief, or like posttraumatic stress disorder. Outsiders would laugh at that, but anyone who works for MQ knows its true - we all end up with PTSD. Its so sad. There are great companies out there, and yes its hard to find the fit sometimes, but it sure seems at this point that the bar is so low with MQ that just about any other company would beat them now. The age of the mighty MQ is over, I believe.

I'm glad you are having good luck, but my experience is [2008-11-26]
totally opposite. A typical experience for me is, as an example, and I documented this: 5 minute report - 60 corrections which includes words, punctuation and formatting that I had to do. This took me almost 20 minutes, and that does not count the nearly 5 minutes it took to enter the cc's with their dictated addresses. There are dream ASR accounts out there. I have experienced a few reports from such accounts out of my area when my area ran out of work. It makes me cry to know there are indeed great ASR accounts out there (which I do not have), but we all get paid the same whether it is a dream account of absolute crap.

Good luck to you! (sm) [2008-11-22]
I hope you have success in your schooling. My husband was 42 when he decided to go to nursing school. He has been working as an RN in the ER (1 FT job and then he works 3 PRN jobs in ERs around the area making $40/hr). There is no shortage of nursing jobs. He has agencies calling him all the time needing nurses to work. So, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor. I agree with you about transcription...I used to love this job, but now it has become such a chore even to get myself to want to work. I am selling AVON PT to recoup what I have lost with this job, plus my FT job with the hospital that I work for (all from home), that's the only reason why I am sticking with it.

how did you luck out at 10 cents [2008-11-19]
i have been here 9 years and just went up to .0850 last summer. did you start out at that rate?

i have a interview on Tues. 10/25 - wish me luck!!! [2008-11-19]
It's not transcription!!!! Actually it's not what I really want either and probably don't really have a chance at it, but if I am offered it, I am taking it. Anything to get away from the Q.

I wish you the best of luck [2008-11-19]

Good luck with getting answers from that [2008-11-18]

good luck [2008-10-30]
I'm hoping to leave soon, too-- this place just takes all of your energy and motivation and I just can't seem to really get with it in looking for either another transcription job or just getting out of it. It seems like a lot of the MTs who have been with MQ for a long time are really getting out and maybe that's what they want so they can brainwash the newer MTs so they have them where they want them and don't have to put up with the long-timers who have just had enough of all of their lies, promises, etc. and let them know it -- for all the good it does -- they never listen -- they always have their agenda in mind no matter what and it doesn't make a bit of difference what the MT says if it doesn't fit into their back-handed plan to line their pockets and to not pay the knowledge workers (as we were referred to in an article) who are the backbone to their success. I'm getting just about ready to take my knowledge some place else where maybe I'll get fairly compensated for it.

Good luck to whoever if they have to [2008-10-30]
talk to the docs. Even the threat of losing privileges sometimes does not get them to do their old/outdated dictations. No incentive to them concerning ADT info. I think the problem is they think we have access to patient records, so they don't worry a whole lot about patient info.

Good luck [2008-10-25]
Yep, you are, and without so much as even a kiss.

Hang in there, only been a few weeks. Good luck to you. NM [2008-10-22]

Good luck to us all. sm [2008-10-15]
I got up 6 a.m and logged on to work only to find that job after job is for an account not only have I never done before, but also never heard of. One right after the other. Check my email and some new whatever introducing herself to the team. Not only are they different accounts, but in less than 2 hours I think I have seen 5 different unknown accounts. Once again MQ at its best, SURPRISE, SURPRISE. I went to flex part-time back in July and got a second job, which is great. I have only 3 accounts and they are mostly English speaking. They actually don't want you to do an account that you aren't that familiar with, go figure that actually works. Well I think this is finally the ending point, I can't make money like this and they way this place has treated its employees for years just makes me sick. Good Luck to us all.

Good luck with QA [2008-10-07]
I have had that before. When I brought it to QA lead's attention all my jobs from that day were 100% QA'd and I ended up getting zinged on more little crap than if I had kept the contradicting ones and my mouth shut. I've been an MQ optimist up until this point...now it is quickly falling away.

good luck to all [2008-09-26]
I have heard this from everyone who used to work there. I'm inflating my raft and sending out cleaned up CV.

Good luck w/your job interview [2008-09-05]
I need to get out of transcription. I hate the Q, hate the medical BS words. I really think that if instead of getting out i just switched to another transcription company, i would eventually just end up with the same old cr@p again.

Good luck to you. I left a little over a [2008-08-27]
year ago and had 3 job offers the first week I sent out resumes. I have now been with a company for almost a year and absolutely love it. Also, not to sure about an hourly rate however, you can normally make a bunch more money on production.

Good luck in the unemployment line. [2008-08-26]

good luck to you [2008-08-21]
Signal was a great company. I enjoyed working there very much before it got bought out by Transcriptions, Ltd. and finally MedQuist. Themswere the days. Sigh.

Wow, are you leaving MQ? I should follow! [2008-12-03]
You will do great! You have great experience and I am sure you can learn new platforms easily. Good Luck!

new ASR person [2008-12-03]
Well the first month is great because you get paid the same amount that you are making as an hourly wage. But after that, it is all downhill. However, if you are one of those people who can do 644 lines an hour along with regular transcription do another 400 lines an hour, good luck, because you will be knocked down to 4 cents a line. it can become a little bit too much when like me had 90% ASR and 10% typing. I would rather type and get my lines.

I left almost 1-1/2 years ago and on my [2008-12-02]
exit interview I told them exactly why I left. $600 cut in pay per month when incentive changed, no communication, multiple accounts, no raises, being switched to a new account/service area, loss of flexibility with schedules, etc. They even asked me if I would consider coming back and I told them absolutely not. I told them that after working for them for 10+ years I felt the company had no respect for their MTs, it was just going downhill at an extremely fast rate. I also told them I had started a job which paid me 1.5 cpl more than MQ and there was no way I would ever consider returning. I got this call about 3 months after I left, it was probably a company they hire to conduct these. The lady was very understanding about why I left and even wished me luck. I truly believe leaving the Q was one of the best decisions I ever made, especially after checking in on this board and seeing that things have indeed gone from bad to worse.

I'm so glad you heard from your supervisor [2008-12-02]
I'm so glad he had nothing but nice things to say to you and also validated your fears and concerns. It sure does feel good to hear kind things - its just too sad that the only time we seem to hear them at MQ is when we quit. Best of luck to you. You know you can always return and start immediately, so try not to be afraid, though I can totally relate. Been there, done that. I've been gone about 6 months now and still feel like MQ is my real employer. Its so hard to break the connection, I know. I was with them always, too, thru one company buyout after another. You will be fine and have a Happy New Year!

Are you saying you didn't get the [2008-12-01]
memo where he told us that MQ's top producers were transcribing 426 lph, and editing at a rate of 644 lph. He even then went on to give us instructions on how we could increase our line rates so that we all could become this fast and encouraged us to take his challenge....Then he also had a bridge for sale, but we all passed on that one..... If you didn't get this E-mail you can always call or E-mail your CCM, and you may or may not get an answer because obviously they don't work full time anymore, or if they do part of their job is not to pay any attention to our E-mails. I haven't figured out what the new management team does or doesn't do yet, it must be another one of Mr. 644's secrets...Good luck...

Cobbie, I am sorry [2008-12-01]
Depression sucks! It is hard not to be depressed because the world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket. I was talking to my hubby the other day about all this. Told him at this point would have to work till I am 80 in order to be able to retire. With my luck, will live till barely 81. I have a hard time finding anything good lately to think about myself.

You're right, pay us more...or at least stop cutting [2008-12-01]
our pay. I'll keep doing my minimum for MQ in hope that things turn around, but I'm not holding my breath. I used to love working for MQ, but now I'm ashamed to tell anybody I do. I haven't had any luck with with my supes since about 4 of them back. She was the best supe I've had at any company I worked for. They called her up one day right before Christmas and told her she was no longer needed. No reason, she never saw it coming, they just dropped her. The supe she had replaced (who was horrible) was promoted to manager. Imagine that. These posts....same poster, and I stand by my statements above. I really am curious. Did you sign it? - What are you expecting as a result? Hope you didn't use your name like - another below has I don't think they'll take anyone seriously - who tries to be anonymous. I signed my name when I sent my comments. - I don't think putting a name is bad And? What do you think will happen? - They've made their decision

I have the same problem [2008-12-01]
I anchor my foot pedal against one of the legs of the desk. If something like that doesn't work, you might try maybe one of those rubber drain board mats and put the foot pedal on that. Good luck.

You are all on a slippery slope with this one, and [2008-11-29]
But, I would seriously question my job security with MQ bu filing for something like this. You could end up shooting yourself in the foot big time. Like if you in particular don't type all work types and don't have knowledge in all work types, etc., that could come back and bite you. Its a very odd situation for sure. I 100% believe that MQ should just bite the bullet and pay you all for no work situations. However, they have dodged that bullet to date and are masters at the craft. I don't think, personally, that the unemployment thing would fly in your favor. I don't know any advice to give you all on how to fight it, but if I were an MT, I guarantee I would be getting paid for no work situations, and paid at my hourly benefits rate, not minimum wage. I do believe that some MTs do get paid as I described. One thing for sure, QA people do get paid when there is no work. They get their hourly rates, no questions asked. If there is no work, there is no work. I would NOT do as someone below stated, and stay signed into DQS but just log in and out of etime. I know for sure there are rules written somewhere - good luck finding them - that you must be logged into DQS and Etime at the same time, otherwise grounds for immediate dismissal. And, yes, MTs have been fired on the spot for this. Please don't do it, though, again, I understand your reasoning. I would never, ever go along with the -- releasing -- thing. As others have posted below, that is the magic word for MQ to get out of paying you, and you are agreeing to be released. In fact, since you all have to report the no work situation, it looks as if YOU are the ones asking for the release. Which is MQ's little bag of tricks to cover themselves from having to pay you for no work. I would never ever take PTO either. I would think the only way to fight this would be thru labor boards. But, again, I don't know how that would work for ya. Just to remember why MQ pulls the reasoning that you all have to make up work is that, in the day, therewere lots of MTs who were full time, didn't make up work, and some weeks had no income, even some pay periods had no income. When you have benefits, that becomes a BIG problem. There were lots of MTs who owed money to MQ for the weeks they chose not to work and not to make it up and that obviously didn't fly either. So, on one hand, I understand the logic on that part in order to keep your benefits. If you have benefits, you have to be sure you work full time, or you can and will lose your benefits, as you have to see the bigger picture of that whole situation. I feel sorry for you all, and wish I could offer some solution on how to fight them on this. Somebody needs to take a stand about it - its like the IC versus employee issue. It took a few years, but finally the IRS got them to admit that we were employees and not IC status. Of course, there were lots of things we lost when IC was taken away. Very confusing situation, but it shouldn't be that confusing. Doesn't anybody have that MetLife lawyer plan thru MQ? Somebody should use that benefit -- before its gone - and call for the free lawyer consult regarding this situation. I wish you luck. I chose to go with a company that pays for downtime and pays happily, but I know you all need help with this. Hang in there.

Correct on staying logged onto DQS and [2008-11-29]
You stated this: ***************************** I would NOT do as someone below stated, and stay signed into DQS but just log in and out of etime. I know for sure there are rules written somewhere - good luck finding them - that you must be logged into DQS and Etime at the same time, otherwise grounds for immediate dismissal. And, yes, MTs have been fired on the spot for this. Please don't do it ***************************** You are correct. Punch-outs and ins on both DQS and E-time must match up within a few minutes or the employee is in violation of company rules. They got really strict with this a few months ago. You cannot stay logged into DQS and not into E-time.

Okay, here is what you do [2008-11-28]
First off, support cannot recover your expansion file if you have logged off DocQScribe as DocQscribe saves what is there when you log off and that is what support will have, the corrupted file. This happened to me and I did a SYSTEM RESTORE and gotmy expansionsback. Then I called support and they copied my expansions to a file in My Documents. Now at the end of every shift I copy my expansions to this file. That way, when my expansions get corrupted again I can call support and they will go in and copy that file to DocQscribe for me,all you lose is whatyouadded to expansions since the last time you saved them. The name of the file that holds your expansions is user.aco. Support can help you with all this. I also bought a 2 GB flash drive, under $20, and once a week I copy my expansions to this and that way I will have them in case the computer crashes or I go to another company, well worth the money believe me. It is devastatingto have your expansions corrupted, I know from experience. Hope this helps and good luck.Feel free to email me if you need more information.

Question for those working ASR [2008-11-26]
What work types do you have and good luck or bad luck? I wonder if that has anything to do with it. From my past ASR experience with another company the ERs were terrible but the H&PS/Consults were great. I could also imagine ESLs and speed dictators or not make a big difference as well.

Thanks Debbie [2008-11-26]
I appreciate your opinion. I have been wondering about ASR myself. Like you, my luck seems to run better than many posters on this board. It is nice to hear a positive once in a while through all the negative. You are right, no place is perfect. MQ is not all bad. I am happy to have a job seeing unemployment rise and rise. I may just take that leap to try ASR. I certainly could use the extra money. Have a wonderful holiday fellow MQr. :) Ignore the other poster, that's what I plan to do. They have nothing better to do than hold a grudge and be negative. Must not have much going on in their life.

Really dumb ?! [2008-11-26]
Okay, don't laugh, but this is not clear to me, for whatever reason. To control volume, it says Control + Numberpad and + or - sign. I'm onw of those weirdos (fossils, maybe?) who types numbers at the top of the keyboard. It's how I've always done it. Also, as luck would have it, the stacked numbers on the keyboard don't work, anyway. Can someone please fill me in here? Also, TG is double lines, correct? Thanks so much, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I had work all day in my primary - sm [2008-11-26]
straight through except for 3 jobs. Just finished up about 10 minutes ago. Good luck. We'll see what tomorrow brings...

last straw [2008-11-23]
Again, I did the same thing, I am from KS too and I found another fine job that I can do typing not ASR and be happy. Good Luck

newbie [2008-11-23]
You are in for a big disappointment and surprise. You will have to work you @#$$ off for this company to make your lines and getting 4 cents a line for ASR you will really have to work hard. So good luck to you. Worked there for years!!!

WRONG, been here over 5 years, still at 7 range...sm [2008-11-22]
and I make quotas plus, 100% accuracy on every audit, etc. I have asked every year, sometimes two or three times in a year, for performance reviews. I was promised when I was hired that I would receive yearly performance raises, even left a better paying job for that promise and the benefits. I have been totallyignored every single time except once when I was told my PS would check into it, never heard anything else. I am going back to school! I am going to try and pick something where the human factor cannot be deleted, maybe medical assistant/phlebotomist to get my foot in the door on the track to nursing. It is a darn shame that at 40 years old, I have to start all over. I have been doing this for about 20 years now, and it is sad, sad, sad what is going on these days. I can achieve 500-600 lines per hour on ASR as I can proofread very quickly, but I now have to do twice as much work to make what I was starting out, and this is what slows me down. I do not care to push myself for a company that continues to take, take, take. I do my work properly and make quota, but that is all. Yes it causes financial hardship, but better less money in the bank than less spirit in the heart. I am taking this low income opportunity to help financially with schooling. Maybe I will keep doing this on a part-time basis, maybe not. The only thing I know is I have two kids getting ready to graduate from high school, and I have to make sure they are provided for and have the opportunity to go on to college, and I want to be the grandma who takes the kids to the mall or out for ice cream any time we want to. My husband has passed on so thereare no backup finances, so I have to do what I think is best. I am not telling anyone what to do, we all have very different views and situations, but for the first time, I am not so proud of what I do. I can make more money in fast food than in what was once considered a high skill level position. Whatever you choose to blame it on, corporate greed, technology, doctor compliance, etc., the fact remains being a medical Transcriptionist has now taken second seat to being an editor, and as the voice recognition programs are updated and improve, the transcription era, and possibly even the need for editors, will come to an end. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL and GOD BLESS! THUS IS THE WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY!

Yes, sorry, it is included in tier 2 (see inside) [2008-11-22]
Go through it fast, type the words you know, QA marker the words/phrases you don't. It will be okay. Don't spend hours doing it. That's really the only thing you can do. You can also write down the name of the report and the day, job number, time, and if your CCM contacts you about it, explain it was your first and you tried hard. They'll understand. Don't worry about what QA says. They aren't in charge. I've had nasty notes in the past like that too and then I've had wonderful notes written to me. Great feedback, but little if any impact on job performance. Best of luck to you, dear.

I miss my Ortho, ENT, Plastics and ER notes. [2008-11-22]
Changes suck! okay, i'm going for it - wish me luck. We'll see how long this takes! LOL

I hope you have success in your schooling. My husband was 42 when he decided to go to nursing school. Raise? - sm [2008-11-22]
Got my first raise in 11 years earlier this year which was immediatelycancelled outby ASR. I assumed that I might be eligible for another raise somewhere around 2018. Much luck to ya!

IMPORTANT- - - Labor Board, Wage and Hour [2008-11-21]
Okay guys. I received a call back from my State with Wage and Hour Division. The very nice person I spoke to stated she knows all about what companies are doing to medical transcriptionists. In fact, she has received about 4 calls already with complaints from transcriptionists about MQin my state. She looked into it and stated there isNOTHING we can doas long as MQ is paying minimum wage which is about 8.00 an hour for my state and some states are much less. BUT, I have been told I can file a complaint because if you work 6 hours straight, you are allowed a 30 minute lunch break UNPAID AND A 10 MINUTE BREAK THAT IS PAID whichshe believes MQ is not allowing. If you work 8 hours, you are allowed a 30 minute lunch break UNPAID and (two) 10 minute PAID breaks which is a total of 20 minutes that you are allowed to get paid and have a break which she believes MQ is not doing. Some states might be different. I thought Arizona was a 15 minute break. Anyway, if that is the case with any and not getting paid your breaks, then you have to go on line to your state and look up Labor Board Wage and Division complaint section and down load and file complaint or you may call and have them mail you out a form. Hope this helps. Good Luck. By the way, the nice lady also stated we should get out of this field as more companies like MQ will probably lower our wagesto near minimum wage. She agrees it is unfair and she understands where we are coming from, but we are basically screwed. Also do not forget, this company is an At-Will Company.

Yeah, know what you mean. I had so much anger brewing in [2008-11-21]
me during my last years there. The only thing I regret right now is that I did not leave sooner. I just kept thinking and hoping things would get better and actually held on waiting for a raise that never came. I check here now and again and have to wonder how anyone could put up with what MQ dishes out, but I see now that some are just starting to experience what I did years ago with them with ASR. This last pay cut, well, my heart just breaks for you guys because I know how hard you have to work for your money. Doesn't seem legal to me but who knows.....I wish you luck with your new job, you will have better days ahead once you are away from that evil MQ.
