editscript [2008-10-02]
EditScript is I guess you would call it like a platform. Voice recognition editing is when the report comes up and you go through and listen to the doctor to catch any mistakes that are in there.

Instant Text & Editscript-alt+. [2008-10-01]
This is for anyone who has worked in EditScript with Instant Text. When you press the alt+. combo the IT box pops up, but you really want a period inserted into the report with next character capitalized right. Well how do you make it happen that way? I have searched everywhere and cannot find the answer anywhere. Any help would be great. Thanks

EditScript does not always hold corrections [2008-09-18]
I've been there and had this happen. I wound up getting a new computer with more memory (though I had a good bit already). It seems EditScript is a large program and takes other programs working also to support it. It was frustrating to take all the time to edit reports and upload them, only to get nasty feedback in return that I should have made the corrections I made. A new computer with lots of memory solved that problem for me.

Editscript problems [2008-09-17]
I have not had any work from the client since July but I bumped into someone who works in one of the departments at the facility and they sort of complained to me about the quality of the reports lately. I told them I hadn't done the work but they continued to rant about the poor quality. I told them it was now EditScript. So it looks like Escription/EditScript is lacking something. They said words left out and misspelled words were a big problem. Now you can say it is up to the Editor to fix it but if they don't hear it, it can't be fixed. Also I'm wondering if the corrections are holding after the report is closed out. Anyway they are not happy, just FYI.

What is eScription Editscript? Is that strictly [2008-09-11]
has an ad for MTs that says nothing about editing positions. I am confused for sure. I transcribe. Don't want to do editing for a company. Don't want to apply for a job when I do not know what I applying for. TIA!

EditScript loading difficulties [2008-09-04]
I am supposed to be starting on the EditScript software today, but I can't seem to get a report loaded. I installed it using the password I was given by my vendor, but I seem to be stuck on the 'Initializing Your Dictation List.. window. I can't seem to access anything from the blue open folder. I have never used this software before, and this is the second time I have had problems getting in. Any idea what I did wrong? I get a Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime error '424': Object Required message every time I load it. What does that mean? I have tried to reboot, but I get a red box that warnsme that if I exit the system this way, I will either not get paid orother people won't be able to accessthequeque. My venderis unavailable for comment. P.S. This is my first job!

EditScript loading difficulties [2008-09-04]
Just in case anyone else is having a similar problem; I just spoke with the ES technician and was told that with Runtime Error 424, this was a typical first time loading problem, and all I needed to do was to go the directory where the files were loaded, find the Word file labeled EditScript Headliners and delete it. He said I should have no further problems. I'll let you know...

The income problem isn't with EditScript itself SM [2008-08-26]
When I was first switched to EditScript (the part of eScription's 3-part program MT's work on), I built up speed as I learned editing on it. The official staged adjustments in line counts were made as the computer learned the dictators, but as I continued to improve I was making good money at it, a bit better than transcribing. Then inexplicably I started making less and less, as did others I spoke with. My income continued to drop, even as all counts and rates seemed to remain the same as they were reported to us. I tend to be a trusting sort and prone to look first at myself for explanations of problems, and took me some while to recognize and admit that irregularities in my own production just didn't explain the long-term trend in significantly smaller paychecks. My employer undoubtedly had some pressure to try to make things hold together with the hospital I was assigned to because my main account started shifting offshore, not that we were told why we kept running out of work more and more until it reached critical point and they absolutely had to. The lies that came with that last are why I went looking for a better employer, but on scanning the EditScript forum and the web, I found indications that people with other eScription-contracted accounts and companies were having similar experiences, both having trouble making the money they had before and with accounts moving offshore, so I went looking for a job with a company that was not involved with eScription, even though EditScript is a wonderful program, my favorite of all the platforms I've worked on. My personal experience was in early 2007. Now that eScription and editing itself are more established in the market, maybe counts and incomes have stabilized with the MTSOs that work with it, but I'd get assurance of that before I committed.

Instant Text & Editscript? [2008-07-03]
Ok, I am using Instant Text withEditScript/Escription and if you are familiar with IT you will understand what I am asking for help on. When I highlight a phrase to add to my IT, then press alt +, the IT window pops up to add an entry but the phrase is not in the window and I have to retype the whole phrase in the IT window to create a new entry for IT. Is there a way to make the phrase be in the IT window so that I do not have to retype the it? Also, how can you make it possible to copy and paste phrases from a document in EditScript so that you can add it to Intant Text or anywhere else? Thanks

editscript/escription [2008-07-02]
Anybody ever having trouble downloading EditScript on initial setup? I get so far and the templates will load but the next part that lists the providers won't and I get kicked off my provider (VZ wireless air card). I have been told that they do use this for the laptops, so that shouldn't be an issue. Just didn't know if anyone had any possible suggestions. TIA!

editscript crashing [2008-05-21]
I just got a job using EditScript with 2003 and it took out my whole computer!!! EVERYTHING. Did that happen to you? The tech guy at this company said it wasn't anything they did. I have had my computer for 3 years and never had anything like that happen before. I'm just curious if that is what happened to you.

No. EditScript works fine with my 2003 Word version. sm [2008-05-21]
It is ExText with Word 2000 that I am worried about interfering with my EditScript from eScription. Sorry that happened to you. I have been running Word 2003 with eScription for about 4 years now. Everything works great!

Is any one running ExText with Word 2000 and EditScript with Word 2003 sm [2008-05-19]
I am interested to know if anyone is running two platforms with a different version of Word on one computer. I am running eScription's ES with Word 2003 and want to run ExText but their version of Word is 2000. Has anyone done this or doing it now. If so, have you run into any problems. I can't seem to get a straightforward answer from the Techs at either company. I can't just load ExText and jeopardize it interfering with eScription. I am interested to hear any and all comments. Thank you so much in advance for any help!

I was always told that Editscript will not work with dialup. [2008-05-17]
I have worked on this platform for over four years and for a few different companies and not one of them every told me that dialup would work. Did you tell your employer that you had dialup?

editscript works only ........ [2008-05-17]
with DSL or Cable internet, satellite or dial up will not work....that's what companies tell.

Does anyone know how to make Instant Text work with EditScript? [2008-05-17]
I have funky things happen when I use it, like losing a whole report. I have heard others say they use it and it works fine, so what am I doing wrong?

EditScript [2008-05-16]
Does anyone use dialup? I am in a rural area and cannot get dialup at present. I have been trying to download EditScript and I am having mega problems. Anyone else in the same boat?

Probs with Editscript [2008-05-14]
One of the companies I work for have recently switched over to EditScript. I have been moving and have finally settled down and for the first time this week attempted to type. The company says that you have to buy a special footpedal that goes with the software. Instead you have to use hotkeys. I could not even make my way through one dictation without giving up. It is so hard not being able to use my footpedal. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

I was offered 2.5 cpl for editscript VR....sm [2008-05-02]
I have a year exp. I think it is kind of low. Said they give raises after 6 months if satisfactory. I need the job so bad I think I may have to take it. I have a part time already but not enough work. I need something to work on when no work in my other job. I can not get a job anywhere else because everyone wants 2 years exp.

EditScript (see inside) [2008-05-02]
You can use autocorrect while typing or editing.

Another eScription EditScript [2008-05-01]
If you had to transcribe a report on the eScription platform instead of edit, would you be able to use the AutoCorrect feature in your Word program, or another Expander program, or are you using the Word on the eScription server and would an expander program be available?

EditScript [2008-04-21]
Does anyone know if you can use a game-port pedal on EditScript or if you have to have a serial pedal?

Another question -- EditScript [2008-04-19]
If you insert list of recipients into the report from the hospital directory, does the MT receive credit for this in the line count? Are any of the demographics included in the line count? Thanks for your reply.

eScription - EditScript - question missed from below. [2008-04-19]
If you insert a list of recipients into the report from the hospital directory base, does the MT receive any credit for this in the line count? Also, are any of the demographics included in the MT's line count? Thanks for your reply.

eScription EditScript [2008-04-17]
Does anyone know what the standarized definition of a line is when using the eScription platform (EditScript)? I understand bolding and underlining are not permitted, so that has been eliminated from the line count. How about two spaces after a sentence? Has that been eliminated from the line count also? How difficult is it to confirm your line count that the software is gathering for you? If you partially edit and partially transcribe a report, does it separate the two functions and provide individual counts? Thanks!

I'd wonder what company is doing the work now. SM [2008-09-17]
Fixing those is why the EditScript portion comes to the MTSOs at all. When I was working in EditScript the work was being siphoned away from workers at my MTSO to ones offshore without any explanation to us, only evasions in response to our questions, until a week or two before the last big chunk of it was to disappear, and then we were told.

Reply [2008-09-12]
To my knowledge, neither Medquist nor Transcend use Express Scribe or any other software from nch. Medquist uses Doc-Q-Scribe and Transcend has some accounts on EditScript. I don't know if they use other software programs besides these. HTH.

Not just VR [2008-09-12]
EditScript is fully capable of handling straight transcription reports. However, most of what I see is VR. Also, Escription/EditScript is owned by Nuance; I believe their future goal is to automate everything. Whenever a new account starts up on EditScript, it takes the software a good 90 days or more to learn the VR for each new dictator. So, you might get a lot of straight transcription when the account is new. However, I'm willing to bet that the majority, if not all, of EditScript accounts are either VR or WILL BE VR in the near future. HTH.

Yes, and it's very good. SM [2008-08-13]
It's not the one I loved the absolute most (because you can't use the Google tool bar with it and you can't open the dictator's past several months of reports in one long string), but it's still a very, very good platform and superior in some respects. I'm happy with it. As for learning, Enterprise is similar in most respects to the typical programs we've all used and is extremely easy to learn and to use. You could expect to be cruising the first day. P.S. EditScript (eScription) is my absolute favorite, but work on that platform seemed particularly prone to disappearing overseas, making me specifically look for a company not associated with it.

haven't used WinScribe but [2008-07-10]
I've used EditScript (eScription), Chartscript, and another platform with another company that I believe is their own development. The only one I have little to complain about is the company developed one. It utilizes the ExpressScribe player and MS Word on my PC. My only complaint is that you have to run the platform (which upload/downloads reports & audio, runs reports, etc.), ExpressScribe and Word so you always have a min of 3 windows open at all times. So add in Shortcuts and an IE window, it starts to get crowded. ES is ok but took quite some time to get used to it and it leaves much to be desired on the admin side, even with Emon. At first I loved Chartscript but now hate it only because I keep losing keyboard function while typing/QA'ing in it (arrows, home, end keys stop working and I have to use my mouse which slows me down). I've also noticed that I can't have my email program open while I have a report open in Chartscript too even though it's web-based so I don't understand why it effects my Outlooks like this.

It's Alt= to make it show in the window. sm [2008-07-07]
Much easier that way. Don't know anything about EditScript.

JMO [2008-06-28]
My aunt and uncle work for the airline industry and lived in El Paso (I think?) for 2 years. There apparently was a large number of ESLs, so much so that they ended up homeschooling their girls because they didn't speak Spanish and the girls had a very hard time understanding their instructors. EditScript is a super easy platform. I don't have any problems after just a month. I did a 2 hour training call with another company (in AZ) and then jumped in. But I have about 15 IMs for help if I need it. I also had a lot of papers printed off (cheat sheets) that help tremendously. I was told by my AM that EditScript (which is the platform, it comes from escription) will goof up your line count and stats if you have more than one document open, so it was recommended we print our cheat sheets instead . I see what to me would be pros and cons in your post...for me it would be worth taking a shot because right now we have no health insurance at all. :-(

Can anybody tell me if the Olympus footpedal with serial (COM) port works with escription (EditScript) ? TIA

That would certainly depend on the VR platform sm [2008-05-19]
I currently edit 600-700 lines per hour accurately on EditScript; however, I can not nearly do as many lines editing using Dictaphone's VR program. There are so many variables that it makes it difficult to put a average number out there. I can tell you, that paying 3 cpl for editing is an insult to the qualified and experienced MT/Editor with years and years of experience.

My two cents...sm [2008-05-19]
I would advise the best way to go would be to have two separate computers, if you must use two different versions of Word. Better yet, why not just go back to Word 2000 for both programs, and then you could probably run both programs on the same machine. I used to run three programs on the same machine, but they all used the same version of Word (that was the key). Also, I was recently running Word 2003 with EditScript and it kept crashing, so I went back to Word 2000. I know that Word 2002 works fine with EditScript, too, but I had a bad experience with 2003. I also use InstantText with EditScript, and it can be tricky in that you must make sure that the InstantText window is linked to the EditScript Word window BEFORE you download a job. Otherwise, when you hit the backspace button, InstantText will begin deleting any and all text in the window and totally erase your work. Yep, a nice little bug, for sure. Hope this helps. Good luck....

Thanks - sm [2008-05-19]
I already use Word 2003 with EditScript and it has worked wonderfully for the past few years. My concern is with ExText. I have another call into tech support. I do know that EditScript will not work smoothly with more than 1 version of Word on the hard drive. I can not jeopardize my eScription account(s). I probably will just have to not take the new account that uses ExText as I only have one computer at this time. Thanks for your 2 cents....it is much appreciated!!

I started with a new company this week. It is doing general practice clinic notes. It is EditScript VR. I have only been an MT for a year. My year of exp has been with general surgery clinic notes. So I amdoing general practice now part time too. Well I have a new specialty, new platform, new dictators. Everything. Igot a dictator thatwas not agood dictator.Well I didn't do so good on the report I sent to QA which was the owner. The otherreportsshe said werevery good. OK so I do this one not so good and she sends me an email and says if I don'tdo better thenwe will have to consider other options, ie get rid of me basically. Ok is itjust me or is that a little harsh? One of the things I missed wasov. Not the letters o-v but the word ov. I didn't know what ov meant. I looked inbooks but I didn't know so I left a blank well I got crawled for that. It was office visit. I didn'tknow.Isn't that why they call it training? Because you are learning the account.
