If you haven't set your foot pedal controls go to the settings tab and then control and make sure the box is check beside foot pedal playback control and choose VEC pedals USB, choose number of pedals yours has and then click on the foot pedal control setup wizard and follow the directions.
Express Scribe [2008-10-21]
Since you can only go forward it sounds as if all of the pedals did not take when you did the pedal wizard.Have you tried doing the wizard again? I use Express Scribe exclusively and love it.

DocShuttle Express help please!! [2008-09-15]
How do I import a voice file sent via e-mail in into Docshuttle and play with WavPlayer. Have never used this and can't figure it out. Thansk for any help at all.
Download Express Scribe, it's free, when you download the voice files you will listen to.... [2008-09-05]
them in Express Scribe and you can set your footpedal up. I forget where the downloaded files go, can't remember if you can put them where you want them but I would have to search for them to download to Express Scribe - maybe someone else can tell you how. It is much better than what you are doing.

Express Scribe and Vista? [2008-08-08]
Has anyone been able to make this work? Some files do some files don't, I have all file types checked, have tried to download the codecs but I'm missing a file. The version I downloaded was supposed to be compatible with Vista. I'm running as administrator and in XP compatability mode.

Sorry if you already have downloaded these but this is what worked for me so thought I would share:)
Jobs and Vista [2008-08-08]
Is anyone else out there having a hard time trying to get a job with Windows Vista on your computer? What is the problem with this. I have had several interviews and as soon as they found out I have vista, they are not compatible? What are you going with Vista doing? Thanks for any help.
Vista Pains! [2008-08-07]
Hey all,
I am trying to set my laptop up with XP since Vista is not compatible with anything. I was told that you can dual boot XP and have Vista in the background in case it is one day worth a crud. I know how to reload XP onto my laptop and take Vista off completely, but I'm not sure I want to do that. Plus, I have a remote login setup on it now for the hospital work I do on the weekends. So I need to be able to transfer that to the XP side also.
I am so frustrated with Vista! I just want to go back to good ol' XP without losing EVERYTHING I have on my laptop.
If someone could provide me with instructions I would be so grateful!
TIA!
How do you downgrade Vista to XP?nm [2008-08-06]

Express Scribe [2008-07-14]
I initially had difficulties too when I got a new computer with Vistafor Christmas. After searching on Express Scribe forum (this was just after Christmas and things may have changed since then), the latest version of Express Scribe was not compatible with Vista. I downloaded the previous version, and have not had a problem since. Good luck.

I bought my tower for only 250. It came with Vista, so I deleted that partition and put XP on. I then went and downloaded all the drivers and it's been smooth sailing.

calling in, they still had some available. They also have their own credit with no interest for a year if all paid off. If you can't find one and know a comp. tech. person, they can wipe Vista off and everything they have to do and install XP for you. I did check with STaples as I need a laptop and they would do it, but it costs like $400 more.
Why not just import the file? [2008-11-26]
If you are already using a transcribing program like Express Scribe or Olympus can't you copy the file from the CD and upload it into that program? You need a special program to type from a CD directly, I think. Just a thought.
Keyboard Opinions - Avant versus Kinesis [2008-11-18]
I am faced with a decision between these 2 keyboards, both with pros and cons. I would like to take a survey to see what everyone's opinion would be. I strongly prefer a programmable keyboard, as I would like to change some of the keys around to suit me, but will I regret not having an ergo keyboard in the long run? Will I like the IBM clicky type keys?

This is from the sales rep I spoke to this week:Have you ever heard of Northgate OmniKey keyboards? We purchased the rights to the keyboards when they went out of business. It is like typing on an old IBM keyboard. It is a loud click, you know when you hit a key. A lot of customers say they make fewer errors and I personally agree. I have had my Avant for a little over 10 years and I type all day long. I also have one at home. It might help for you to listen to this review on our website: http://www.cvtinc.com/products/keyboards/menu.htmClick on HEAR OUR INTERVIEW ON Lets talk Computers. Avant is VERY reliable. We sell to a lot of medical transcriptionists, writers, gamers, call center operators, etc. People that type 8 hours a day 5+ days per week. Our keyboards can really take a beating.
What'cha think?

Advice on starting up own accounts.... sm msg [2008-11-11]
I have my biz cards ready to go. I have my letter partially ready to go, with sticky notes that I’ve designed as a promotional giveaway to insert into my packets. I need some advice/suggestions for startup. If I get ‘that’ call and the customer wants digital rather than tapes, who pays for the handhelds? Do you all use an FTP site for return of documents, or some other way? What wav player do you suggest or use that works for you? I’ve tried GearPlayer, the trial download, which is very nice. I have had a lot of trouble with Express Scribe, so that is out. The audio skips and is just overall very bad. I have never had good luck with Express Scribe.
fast fox [2008-11-05]
Fast Fox by NCH, the Expander by the people that gave you Express Scribe. It has been good for me, it is easy and CHEAP. Go to NCH.com to download a free trial.
No I don't work for NCH but I tried it because I always like express scribe.
Yes and no [2008-11-05]
At the time that I purchased mine, I was fearing that I would not be able to continue transcribing at all. I had caused my own arm injury by attempting to move into a recliner (not reclined, but just sitting back in the chair) while still sitting at my desk in order to try to relieve my back pain, which it did, but did not realize until too late that by reaching slightly more upward and all the mousing in that position I was causing an arm injury. So, I will never be as fast as I once was (not the fastest typist out there at 75 error-free wpm) I have achieved (timing on the free typing tests on-line) 60 wpm, but I now use a combination of expanders, voice recognition (Windows Vista), and straight typing, as well as having the mouse literally right there, and I feel that, with these modifications in place, typing speed is not as important anymore and I am able to complete the same amount of work in a given timeframe as I once was with straight typing/limited expansions.
foot pedal [2008-11-04]
As far as I know, Express Scribe works with the Infinity footpedal, but it must be a serial port; if the footpedal or the computer do not have a serial port, you can change this through an adapter.
And you have also put the footswitch control in the computer (Control/Panel/footswitch) on serial port.
Not true [2008-11-04]
I use a Infinity USB foot pedal with Express Scribe and it works just fine.
Must program it as 3 foot pedals to work..sm [2008-10-24]
When you program the foot pedal, you need to program it as 3 foot pedals..one for back, one for play and one for forward.

go to settings
pedal drop down and choose 3

Foot Pedal [2008-10-21]
I have a foot pedal that resembles the Start Stop foot pedal(with UBS connection). It does not work with Express Scribe. My old pedal, the Dictaphone clam shell is about to bite the dust and I want to be able to use this foot pedal. On the back, there is a label that says Infinity, but it is obscured by a newer label put over it that says DA 130 INet iPlayer. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Ex-spheris MT... [2008-10-21]
I never want to be one of those people who say don't walk... run! But....many long-time Spheris employees are very unhappy right now, and have been for quite a while. My former team just had the last of our accounts sent over to India and most are moving to speech rec. Scheduling is not flexible at all, and making line count is difficult sometimes no matter what your personal average WPM. Pay is also extremely low, and almost insulting - especially for a seasoned MT who has already dedicated years to this profession. The hospital I worked for outsourced to them as well (back when they were Health Scribe almost 10 years ago). The job was wonderful - but when we became Spheris the job became anything but employee-oriented. I finally left and got a job as an IC through a company in Maryland - and I've never been happier. Wonderful accounts, complete control of my schedule (no set hours, just need to meet minimum line count, which I set myself) good starting pay w/ raises, and can schedule time off anytime it is needed. They also do not and will not send work overseas.I'd take the Spheris job if you need work immediately and they are making you an offer... but keep your options open and explore what else is out there. Flexibility was the deciding factor for me - I needed something that offered me complete control over my work day - and I've finally found this where I'm at now.
I think your Infinity foot pedal has iNet software [2008-10-21]
set up so it will not play with Express Scribe (I had the same problem). I ended up buying a new Infinity foot pedal off ebay for $65 including shipping and it works fine on Express Scribe and WinScribe. Good luck!

Glad that you have ideal ...sm [2008-10-17]
conditions under which to work, always plenty of work, no downtime, great accounts that one can just breeze through, you don't have to spend time doing demographic/detective work that is unpaid for, great accounts, great dictators, can get all your lines in during your shift so you don't have to work off hours. But the rest of us, and that seems to be the overwhelming majority, going by what's been posted on this board, they can't all be wrong and they deserve equal time and deserve to express themselves equally, whether negatively or positively, the same as you do. They can't all be wrong you're so-o-o right.

I had the new Office 2007 suite on my Vista laptop and hated it, so I installed my Word 2003 with no problems. Not sure what I did right!
Most MTSOs have not updated their [2008-10-06]
platforms, programs, etc. That is why so many also do not use Vista.
CJ, you are correct [2008-10-04]
It doesn't have anything to do with AHDI. Units of measurement take singular verbs.
Whenever subjects are units of measurement and express periods of time, amounts of money, distances, weights, or any other technical measurement representing a total amount, the subjects take a singular verb. On the other hand, when these subjects indicate a collection of individual parts, the subjects take a plural verb.

7. Units of measurement take a singular verb when they refer to a collective entity and a plural one
when they refer to individuals.
20. When units of measurement for distance, time, volume, height, weight, money, etc. are used as
subjects, they usually take the singular verb form.

ms word 2003 [2008-10-03]
Is MS word 2003 compatiable with Vista?????
Last time I checked, even MTs use the English language and we should have a command [2008-10-03]
of that language and that includes all the rules and regstaught from gradeschool on up. Now, it's totally up to you if you choose to be an AHDI robot. I acknowledge that a lot of MTSOs use the BOS as their guideline and if you work for those MTSOs, then you are obligated to follow their rules if you want your paycheck, but that does not mean that the rule book is correct. Quite simply, it isnot. A group of retired MTs got together, had a meeting, and decided to make up a set of rules. Then they had a really fantastic marketing team that set out to market those rules as the end-all, be-all of medical transcription. They definitely found a willing audience for the crap they were peddling and they capitalized on it. I guess that's the American dream -- making a bundle of money of a bunch of suckers willing to pay, no questions asked.
I, however, choose to buck the system. I'm a noncomformist, I guess. I earned mybachelor's in English before I decided to become an MT. I believe it's important to be able to express oneself articulately and intelligently using the written word. Idislike what texting, email, and chat rooms have done to the English language (witness above post wannbe MT ur opinions...!!!!!).
Oh well, that's just me. I work for a hospital that could care less about the AHDI and its BOS. In my spare time, I wage my anti-BOS and anti-AHDI campaign in the hopes that MTs will wise up and MTSOs will too.
