Sorry about the typo - forgive me [2008-09-06]
Sorry for the typo . . .

Forgive me...sm [2008-05-16]
but when I first saw your post, I asked myself...is this a joke? Then I read it again andI realized what you were after (I only read the tagline). I have been an MT for 12 yrs or so and I have used the same expander, same library for 10 of those years. I would not still be an MT if I had not had someone turn me onto an Expander and insist that I use it. As I recall, I was doing about 100 to 115 lines an hour without the expander and with a very few (about 300) autocorrects. (I started using an expander that came with a library of about 13,800 terms and began to tweak it. I have more like 20,000 now.) I went past 150 lph within about 2 weeks, over 175 in a month, over 250 the next month and then I did spend about 4 or 5 months reaching for 300 lph with the expander. I didn't get faster than that for some time because other things needed to catch up...like my ear and my working knowledge of medical terminology. It took time because I also was not maximizing my expander and I am still not sure that I am truly maximizing it. I could make better use of it, I am sure. I work full time and for the past 9 days' worth of work I have 16,000 lines and still need to work one more day this week. Without an expander, I would not have half that. I am just not that fast of a typist, but I am expander whiz. There is a free expander around and it used to be this site that had it,but it isn't any longer. I have a library I am happy to share, but you'd have to put my 20,000 terms in by hand because it does not have a converter.

oops. It copied three times. please forgive. [2008-01-04]
the first few paragraphs should be enough. Don't know how that happened. sorry.

Hee hee! I can forgive them nearly anything [2007-11-30]
if they apologize to me for it. Means they know I'm alive.

Forgive me if you have already attempted this, but [2007-11-29]
there are certain doctors I speed up very fast and believe it or not I actually understand them better. Others I slow down and have the same affect. Not to be insulting but have you tried this, do you have easy access to the speed? Best of luck and you may not believe it but sometimes you can pick up more skills with the more difficult dictators...I started that way with a supervisor (it is funny now but was not then) who gave me every difficult (terrible) dictator for an entire hospital, and it only made me better...

Forgive me if this is old news. [2007-09-06]
Came across this article tonight; while it comes to no conclusions, it's interesting nonetheless. Especially where an executive from a national MT company calls his at-home MTs overpaid housewives. http://health-information.advanceweb.com/common/EditorialSearch/AViewer.aspx?AN=HI_07jul30_hip12.htmlAD=07-30-2007

Forgive me [2007-08-30]
Yes I know what HIPAA is - it kept me from visting a friend in the hospital last week. I understand what the person is saying - i don't understand the concern by someone other than an American - you can just ignore my comments if you don't agree or if you feel i am ignorant. this is an open forum - and i abide by the rules - so i feel that i can speak my mind or someone else's if i choose. but thanks for the concern that i am ignorant - that's really one more thing we don't need here - is more ignorance.

You might, but some recruiters might not forgive that [2007-08-12]

Forgive me, but WHAT do I have to do to ma00 - FLmt (Views: 6, 2007-07-04) [2007-07-04]
nm

Forgive the last message, but WHAT do I have to do to make 40,000 [2007-07-04]
a year. After 18 months at 0.07 cpl with appx 1200 lpd, I am SO frustrated. What a I doing wrong? TIA

Forgive me if you misunderstood.. [2007-01-27]
I agree that you must be a fast typist in order to make a decent financial living. I just do not think that speed should be placed above accuracy just for speed sake. Speed comes with knowledge, knowledge is obtained by looking over your reports and transcribing correctly.

No I would not. That is the 1 thing I can not forgive. [2006-07-21]
I told my husband that if he ever cheats I will cut his gonads off - and I mean it. Infidelity is one thing I will not tolerate or live with. My take is - don't make an A**hole out of me. If that is what you want, tell me and then go to it. Sneaking aorund and everyone in the world knowing what you are doing before me is a bad mistake. If you want to be with someone else - that is fine, just tell me first. I will have less of a problem with that rather than lying to me and sneaking around. I think you all get what I am trying to say. So, no I would never forgive such behavior or forget it. I also told my husband that will be the one thing I will divorce him over and take him to the cleaners. Other than that, we are happily married.

Forgive--SM [2006-07-21]
after 10 years of marriage, it happened to me too. We divorced, but only because he wanted to be with her more than he wanted to be with me, which is fine...now. It hurt alot at the time and anger ruled my world, but you cannot hold onto that. The only person it hurts is you. You have to move forward instead of staying stuck in the rut of anger and hostility. I forgave him, after the fact. Not that he deserved it, but because I had to let it go...for MY sake. Everybody makes mistakes. Perhaps marrying me in the first place was a mistake. Who knows? But I am happier now...alone, but happy. Hopefully he is too. I did love him, and hating him now would only hurt me, not him, or what he did. Let it go.

I think I could forgive..but not forget. [2006-07-20]
If either him or I cheated, the trust is gone in the marriage. Ithink I would forgive him(not right away) as he is the father of my kids and I will always have a relationship with himwhether married or not, but I I thinkat that point, the marriage would be over. That's what marriage is to me, loyalty to each other. I would say he feels the same way. I can forgive anyone, it's just my nature, but I don't forget.

poll: Would you forgive your husband if he cheated? [2006-07-20]
Assuming you have children and assumming he seems remorseful, would you save the marriage?

One late check, I'd forgive, but the 2nd and I'd on my way to the Labor Board. (nm) [2006-05-25]
!

Forgive me, but I'd think the phone book would be SM [2006-04-05]
the proper resource for a local clinic - didn't you look in the phone book? For the doc, you can google. I work for hospitals in three other states and I have to look that stuff up all the time. You're supposed to use the resources you have, without having QA tell you the obvious. Just my opinion.

Please forgive me if this has already been said... [2006-01-30]
I have worked with women involved in domestic violence for the last 15 years. You can call the local police deparment to find the domestic violence advocates in your area. There are shelters where you and your kids and stay. I believe each state may vary on how many days you can stay. These shelters for the most part are secret. The advocates have ways of helping you make a plan to move out safely. They can help you get a potection order, got to court, etc. In the protection order you may request your husband move out. But please keep in mind a protection order is only a piece of paper and doesn't mean your husband won't get upset and break the protection order. The advocates can also be a wonderful support system for you. I hope this will help you. (800) 799-SAFE this is the domestic violence hotline and they can put you touch with someone in your area. Also this website is good...http://www.dvpsh.org/ Just click on getting help and there are tons of numbers listed where you can go for help.

Forgive me... [2006-01-12]
Perhaps I'm missing something here, and if so, I apologize. I run a service. If you transcribed for my accounts, you wouldn't be an IC; you'd be a SC. That being the case, nine cents is a good rate given reasonable clarity of the dictators and other factors involved, which are many.

forgive me - you said REALITY show....sm [2006-01-08]
well only Extreme Home Makeover was contributory in my post...sorry, I'll read slower next time...

OMG, you FORGIVE Walmart shoppers? Are you nutz. Did Walmart [2006-01-06]
put an over-priced small business owner out of business. What is your PROBLEM? I see old people who would otherwise not have a job smiling and happy with Walmart. I see undereducated people who do not look employable working at Walmart. Walmart employs millions of Americans who may otherwise be on public assistance.

Forgive me, but isn't that kinda mean? [2005-09-29]
Besides, my friend has the collar for her yorkie and the dang thing yaps right over it. The wayI did it with my dog when he was a pup didn't make him afraid of barking (knowing he'd get zapped). He just learned that we did not like it when he barked. He also doesn't jump up on people unless I give him the okay and he does NOT lick people. EEEEW. I didn't rely on gadgets with my dog. I trained himwith patience and rewards. Works every time and makes a heck of a better dog. If you're going to zap a dog when he barks, why not just kick him? The correction devices are only made for people that don't want to bother to spend the time.

No problem, we forgive you. [2005-09-17]

Please forgive me .. all people who [2005-09-05]
live in the South are not cut from the same cloth. I have been watching this for a week now and my heart breaks each and every time I see the images on our TV not that far from where **I** live. I was lucky to come from good circumstances, and yet I was taught as a child to NEVER put one person above another and that our good fortune could leave for any number of reasons. This storm took a national treasure and dessimated it because the federal government did not allocate the monies needed to make a jewel of a city safe for its residents and vistors. I really love living in Florida out of the snow and the winters I cannot ever forget, but I guess that Florida in essence represents many of the ills in our society because now it is a melting pot of many people from all over this country and Europe too who come here to enjoy weather and sun. We are destroying this state too in the name of progress and to me, when you wreak havoc on nature .. eventually you pay for it. The universe is about balance and we are ruining it. Humanity is about basic human principle and we have forgotten them. We police the world and we dictate how people should live in our image .. and yet it is tarnished by so many ridiculous things .. like not being willing (because we are certainly able) to care for our own. We are products of our environment and the precepts we were taught as children. My mother and I had many differences while she was alive but I can look still to her and feel pride in what I was taught as a child and I thank her in times like these that she was such a good mother to us and made us understand what is right and what is simply unconscienable. And, lastly, in times like these should we quote Montel Williams or should we go a bit deeper than that and wonder what Jesus is thinking of us now?

I never worked for a doctor's office, so forgive me for going off track a little. I went to my doctor in May for a followup of a problem I had gone to him before that. He had no record whatsoever of me even seeing him on the previousoffice visitand chalked if up to a transcription error. (I think they transcripe in their office, however.) SO, no record of me being there or the problem, and of course the doctor can't remember every patient's problems. I am not blaming the Transcriptionist here at all; I tend to blame the doctor. Who knows, maybe he DIDN'T even transcribe it.So, I think sometimes the doctors should be held responsible instead of blaming somone else. God bless.

It has been a long odyssey [2008-11-09]
One of the things I thought might be a good alternative to mousing was the HP Touchsmart computer, which did not work out as well as I had hoped, but now I'm stuck with it. It is a really cool machine, but I do not use the touch screen much at all. I use a rolling laptop desk that I purchased from Wal-Mart (I think it was $69, ordered on-line and picked up at the store). The Touchsmart is a computer/monitor in one and it's pretty heavy, but the laptop desk does hold the weight (barely). I do have to be very careful rolling it to and fro, but if you've got a flatscreen monitor I'm sure it would do fine (although you would probably have to be just as careful due to it being so lightweight). Funny how some folks are about helping others out. A lady I have done some work for was like that and I just never understood why (mostly not sharing templates that she already had made up for the doctors I was working on for her), especially considering how willing and happy I was to share much information with her (like she was not even familiar with using AutoCorrect for expansions, forget about Expander programs). What comes around goes around, I suppose. Please forgive my rant!

Searching for digital dictation [2008-10-08]
Hi, I'm looking for some advice and direction. I am looking for possible options for a digitaldictation/transcription system for a multioffice practice on a Citrix network environment with remote transcriptionists. Several years ago I worked for a web based transcription service that used Chartnet, but that was several years ago.I don't 'really remember any big issues, but I don't need the payroll, production aspect ofa system. I am lookingmore for tracking, in having control of knowing incoming and outgoing jobs with a system. Our practice is integrating with EMR; however, several of our physicians continue to choose to dictate and I am looking to other transcriptionists to possibly point me in the direction of software that they have used so I can research and try to find a product that will fit our practice - we are still on micro tapes.I am looking for a system that of course would be Transcriptionist friendly, but also afford me the ability to manipulate the jobs, i.e. assigning easily, producing reports and software that has good tracking abilities and of utmost importance, excellent sound quality for the player. As a transcriptionist, Ipersonally would look for a system thatI will not spenda lot of time in the download function and the complete function. It isn't real effective to me ifthe timeuploadinging and downloading per job takes longer thanactually transcribing the jobs. We have a large quantity of work.Key to me is having control of my work, meaning the physicians being able to identify dictation with a patient number and my being able to track jobs downloaded. Forgive my rambling!! I would appreciate anyone responding to me with any suggestions or telling me of your experience with software. Thank you in advance - I know that the first place I needed to go with this transcription question was to the experts - folks that use these systems and are familiar.

Delete Key question [2008-09-10]
Forgive my ignorance, but is there any way I can assign another key to work as a delete key? - Thanks!

QA scale [2008-08-13]
Forgive my ignorance, but what is a weighted QA scale? I really don't know.

Whoops! Thought I corrected "experiment" before I posted [2008-05-16]
And please forgive any other typos I may have missed. :)

Gave me the giggles!!! LOL!!! [2008-04-29]
LOL...wicked giggles...kinda makes me wonder if the above MT can bring themselves to type the terms for private parts...or are they offensive also? One could wonder...hmmm...Please forgive me, I truly mean no offense, I just could not resist. I have a nice set of horns to counter your halo. On a professional note, I too believe that if it is stated, it should be type. Those types of direct quotes help indicate a patient's character and/or state of mind. They are a very important part of the medical record and should never be left out unless specifically asked by the client! People...please do not take offense, I have a truly wicked sense of humor is all!!! LOL.

ironic. [2008-04-09]
While you were teaching IT to recognize what it hears...IT was teaching you to recognize what you see.... ber-doink! :o] (forgive - it's late)

Oops... well sort of fixed! Geez... [2008-02-09]
I am learning as I go, so forgive me. I was able to add the normal.dot BUT autotext doesn't pop up when typing as it did with 2003. I obviously need to learn A LOT more :(

I failed to mention [2008-02-02]
I want to purchase a laptop both for my own use and the fact the company I want to work for does not lease out computers. So, do I still not use a wireless router as the other poster stated also. Forgive me for being in the dark ages, but what is the ethernet cord that I should have? Is that some sort of card for the laptop. I think I remember something about this when inquiring on laptops awhile back, and that most newer ones already have this. Thanks for the help.

opinions based on the negative [2008-01-21]
Then I ask you this...is it right to base your opinion on a large group of peopel based on your experience. We have all had negative experiences. I have had quite a few of my own.I have had experiences with legal and illegal Mexican's. My husband was an engineer at a poulty plant in NC that ran on the hard work of legal and illegal immigrants. He did not agree with hiring illegal workers, he knew it would not change, and he has since moved on. We cannot go around pointing fingers because there is always someone to point the finger back. For example, your father did something wrong, should we hate him, should we suggest he got what he deserved? I would not do that. You also talk about hygiene a alot. In fact....you say they work all day in the hot sun and then do not shower. Is it possible that working ALL DAY IN THE HOT SUN exhausted them. Lets continue this dialog.....again I ask is it right to form opinions of hate based on your own experience, which in a world view is still limited or is it better to dialog with people find out what their experiences are, not just the ones that match yours. We all have negative experiences, but you can chose to forgive and move on and yes even love. I hope you do.

Finally - people who know what I'm talking about [2008-01-19]
It's really nice to finally find somewhere where I can say things like ESL, and almost everyone knows what it means. Forgive me if I tend to ramble... it's nice being around people on the same playing field. I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old (neither in daycare) and I don't get out much. I'm relocated from a small town in Ohio and haven't met many friends (because I don't get out much), so basically I only have my husband, his mother, the kids, and the dog to talk to. NOTHING about my work seems to be able to penetrate into my husband's head; he's a great guy and pretty smart (most of the time), but this just isn't his thing. Thanks again for letting me rant -- please don't be too hard on me; I've been sheltered for a long time now

I haven't read any of the other replies regarding Time Warner [2008-01-17]
so forgive me if this was already noted. I have the all in one package phone, internet and cable and haven't heard anything about this at all. Nothing's been in our paper or on the news. I guess I'll just have to wait and see and worry about it then.

Probably a ridiculous question about pasting resume...please see message. [2007-11-13]
When applying for a job, you know the small box that you are given to copy and paste your resume into? I noticed when I do this that ALL formatting is lost. Does the document retain its format after it is sent or do any of you sit there for an hour and fix it in that small box? Forgive my ignorance. I know this is probably a ridiculous question, but I need a job and don't want to send my resume all chopped up. Thank you!

AMEN Nanna [2007-11-08]
Amen Nanna. I have said the same thing. I believe that the ones who are changing Alzheimer's to Alzheimer, etc, etc, are ones who love power. Just like the same ones who decided that THEY could make MONEY OFF OUR WORK. They put on a suit, can't type, do not know medical terminology, couldn't transcribe a report if their life depended on it and now, we make the money for them. My children do without now, so they can go on vacations, etc, etc. Sorry for the rant, but I just cannot seem to get over this. I am truly sorry for the rant, but it gets to me every single day when I used to make plenty of money in an 8-hour day to pay bills and provide for my three children. Now, one of my children who grew like a week this summer just went to school without a jacket because none fits him!!! (first cool day of the season for us). Back when I had ALL of the money that I EARNED, this was not a problem. Sorry, you guys. Had to vent it. Please forgive me.

Might be a stoopid question...BUT [2007-10-15]
I am relatively new to this board, so forgive the question, but I do not know what Medquist is in that, why is there a board specifically for them and - I guess, just what is up with them? Thanks

Sad [2007-09-20]
Its the nature of the beast welcome --NOT to the dog eat dog world of MT -- MANY companies are doing this now -- one company that I loved talked to the owners EVERY day We will NEVER sell -- company email not too far behind 9/11 -- they had sold to the squid. Company #2 -- last year, I had good information about a compay here in FL that was outsourcing -- the OWNER was furious said I was troublemaker and a liar but yet, the owner had another side business and let her MTs just fend for themselves -- this MTSO lost a wonderful account in the name of GREED and money -- you need to look at what YOU want -- do you need benefits? -- are you willing to punch a time clock even to go to the bathroom? -- I for one, use my OWN computer, own equipment and work when I want which is most of the time -- for heavens sakes people even in the corporate world you would be allowed time off for sick child etc -- you have to learn how to communicate with supervisors -- I've had moves or flying at the last minute and NEVER been fired for that -- the BOTTOM LINE is that if you DONT work or contact your employer -- you WILL get the crap work, be out in the cold, etc -- the other thing too, is LEARN, STUDY, INTERNET, RESEACH AND TOOLS -- the worst thing you could do and forgive me Administrator, is come on here, and ask for word help -- you need bottom line to learn how to S-P-E-L-L and PHONETICALLY spell as well -- if you can, network with other MTs via an IM program -- K done for the morning and READ and LEARN -- 30 years here so I think I know what I am talking about

Laptop? [2007-07-24]
Forgive me for sounding dumb, but I am thinking of purchasing a laptop and I was wondering how you hook a foot pedal to it?

publicity venues [2007-06-27]
That's a great idea. Go for it!!! I used to watch her when she was just a reporter for a TV station out of Baltimore. She seemed to genuinely care about the issues discussed. I've been thinking about this for a while too. Some serious and some crazy ideas. Forgive me please if any of these people are deceased or the shows aren't on anymore. Been working 2 jobs, no time for TV. 1. Face the Nation: Offshoring with particular emphasis on military transcription and effect on economy overall. Somone important in hot seat. 2. Ted Koppel/Nightline and Larry King:Two guests, one in favor of offshoring, one who is not. 3. Ted Koppel/Nightline: Offshoring military records.Make guest squirm. 4. Montel Williams: People who have suffered serious adverse consequences due to mistakes in their medical record (especially if it was offshored). Would call attention to our profession and problem of offshoring. He has MS, doesn't he? What if someone did his record improperly? He might be interested in this. 5. David Letterman: Top Ten Reasons NOT to become an MT. (what is an MT?--garner public awareness of our profession. Might make people mad when they realize what is done to us affects them.) Have a guest who can explain mistakes with a humorous slant (it is an entertainment show) but still wake up the public to mistakes in their record due to an MT not having English as primary language (generalized, no particular country) and/or the American MT having to work so fast to produce minimum lines in order to retain job and the potentially harmfulconsequences of it all. 6. Jay Leno: Medical Bloopers people can understand. 7. JerrySpringer: MQ employees versus MQ management. 8. Court TV: A good case where someone suffered serious consequencesas a result of their record being incorrect. This would be excellent exposure, as many professionals with clout watch Court TV for entertainment. Even better if such record was offshored. Bring in a lot of experts to discuss the case to give MTing more exposure. 8. ER: An episode where someone is improperly treated due to a mistake in their medical record and one of the favorite docs gets sued. OR An episode where the hospital is being sued because records are stuck overseas and they cannot get them back. OR The hospital MTs go on strike due to pay cuts, etc. and the docscan't get their transcription done, which throws the whole place into chaos. OR something happens to their computers and no patients' records are not accessible because all they have is electronic record. OR a hacker gets into their computers and changes medical records causing all kinds of trouble on every floor, especially the ER. 9. Last but not least, and this is stretching it a bit -- One of the most-watched soap operas/afternoon dramas where a favorite character who is trying to support herself and her little children either trains for MT and can't get work or loses her job as an MT due to offshoring/VR and can't find work so she can take care of her kids, perhaps especially because one of them has a disability or she herself has a disability and must work from home???? Just thoughts.

YOU GO GIRL.... [2007-06-20]
Misha, I'm still laughing so forgive me if I make a few typos o.k.? Having taken a break from MT and working in a law firm for about four years in the mid-1980s, knowing what I know about attorneys, I think you should send it. Lawyers, as much as doctors, have a great rivalry and there's nothing like publicity to whet a lawyer's appetite! I say YOU GO GIRL.....

dumb foot pedal question [2007-04-13]
Forgive if really a dumb question, but are all foot pedals basically the same? I have one from one account and just received another one that looks the same from a new account that I will be doing.

Thanks sm [2007-03-12]
I've never used a KVM switch before. Would my other computer have to have an internet connection as well? Forgive me if this is a silly question! Also, how much does a KVM switch cost? I'm still waiting on someone from tech support to contact me.

You guys are mean, mean and unfair [2007-02-20]
Honestly, hopefully you two never make any mistakes because if you do you will have quite a ways to fall off of your pedestal. Everybody has trouble the first day, I hate first days and even the first week. But if they can't take the time to help out of the first day and point out where the errors were -- even if it was terminology or usage or whatever -- they are not worth working for. Believe me it would have only gotten worse as the time goes by. If they cannot give you help on your first day imagine what it would be like on the 5th, 10th or 25th or if after a month you made a mistake. But to prejudge like you two have, like I said you have sure put yourself on a pretty high pedestal. I agree a reason should be given because you can never correct a mistake unless you know you have made one and if I have made a typo during this message - forgive me but I am a little upset with the above two posters.

is a platform... [2007-02-19]
i using express scribe and have been reading here about platforms, is express scribe considered a platform? I have did MT for over ten years in an office setting but this is my 1st at home position and am unfamiliar with the platform. In the office setting weonly used microcassettes and typed verbatim. So please forgive my ignorance in this realm. Would someone be willing to explain or give an example.I would appreciate it. I like to be knowledgable in the aspects of mt and feel you're never too old to be knowledgable. Thanks!!
