Had equipment problems with Transcend... [2008-11-25]
that they ignored with me though I complained daily. Even worked with a Dictaphone guy who apparently could not fix the problem though he tried. Long story short, I like the account assigned to me but just got tired of this stupid problem - I would have to log out and back in after single every report. I quit in disgust after 10 days because I felt they didn't take me seriously; they didn't even offer to send me one of their PC's, which would have cost me to rent anyway. They hated to see me go. Yeah, right.

I worked for them about 2 weeks. They said I could do DS, H&P, OPs, Consults. They gave me EMG, EEG from a foreign doctor that I could not understand one word he said.

I work there too and work is not slow right now if you are willing to have a few different accounts in your pool. You get enough work. I also don't do ops or procedures and have worked here for over 3 years. They are nice people to work for and flexible. I

Yes, you do have to produce - but what MLS position don't you? Transcend also gives you the tools you need to succeed and will help you get better, faster and making more $. Stop bashing this company! They truly are awesome!!!! And the promote from within! They are so big on internal growth!!!!

I work at Transcend also --- there has been little work available this week at all --- management claims to have no idea what is going on --- this is so frustrating. Those of us who are just qualifying for benefits now do not have enough work to do. What a rip they are!!!

I worked at Transcend for 2 weeks before I had any real work. I was told the first 2 weeks I could only transcribe 5 reports a day until I was released from training. Things are going well now, I have plenty of work my main account rarely runs out of work and when it does I have 2 backup accounts. There is a lot of VR, but if you learn it you can make as much as you do typing even though you have to do double the lines, it has taken me almost 6 months but I am doing it.

Just a word to those who plan on leaving Transcend for whatever reason --- be sure and give them their full 2 week notice. I had a death in my family andhad to leave before I had a chance to give the full 2 week notice and now I have a do not rehire on my personnel record posted by the ROM as I did not give them a 2 week's notice. Just a heads up as it is awfully nice to be able to give a reference to future employers that is good. After over 3 years, it is surprising but goes along with a post a couple of weeks ago that the ROMs are the nastiest in the industry. I can say that 2 of them are indeed worthy of this title but they do have more ROMs that are the BEST in the industry so it evens out - if you get one of the good ones, you are set for life because the company isn't all that bad to work for at all and the CEO and all the TLs and everyone else is there to help you at any time but a couple bad apples can ruin a place. Of course that VR platform isn't anything to brag about but that is not their fault unless they do not change it to something better for the MLS.

a big difference; if you may, say 7 c/l and do 1000 lines a day, that's $70/day; if you make 9 cpl and do 1000 lines a day, that's $90/day, or $20 more a day, $100 more a week...make sure it's the same line rate though, such as 65-character line with spaces included.

I wanted to add that I do work someplace else also because I don't believe in this industry you can put all your eggs in one basket but I do think Transcend is a nice place to work overall.

Duh, how could we tell you work for Transcend. Well let me tell you that Transcend has a few stupidvisors too --- they are hardly cows, maybe blonde and young but they have them if you are lucky enough to find one as I did and it ended a great career at Transcend. I loved it except for a few managers that can ruin a company in record time. Be forewarned if you go to Transcend, it is a great company if you don't get mowed over by the blonde stupidvisors!

MT work ALWAYS since time immortal attracts people likie your stupidvisor. They are usually miserable old cows and it makes their day to ruin another persons day. Get a GOOD spellchecker, do a job where you do editing (ranges around 4 cents a line)...the spell check picks up most mistakes...the trouble with editing is that most of the dictators are crappy foreigners, valley girls, etc and the computer just types in a bunch of crap. You need to do 2000 lines to make $80.00 so if you get lucky you can do easily 100.00 daily on a good account. Good luck to you but don't give up. It is not that you are stupid by any means...you just are working with an old cow. My suggestion, go online and try Transcend (they are based out of Atlanta) and have accounts all over the world...NO QA's in india and there is a GOOD support staff.

A lot of companies are asking for this now and will not pay for it and will not let you work unless you have it. Execuscribe and Transcend are 2 that I know for sure but I've heard that a lot more are doing it or thinking of doing it.

To my knowledge, neither Medquist nor Transcend use Express Scribe or any other software from nch. Medquist uses Doc-Q-Scribe and Transcend has some accounts on EditScript. I don't know if they use other software programs besides these. HTH.

VR [2008-08-25]
I have worked at Transcend for a couple years. I like straight typing more than VR but I'm getting along okay. I have always been able to find work to do when my accounts are low. I'm glad to hear from others that 5 cpl isn't that bad. It is a BIG drop in pay but I'm building it back up. Its basically like starting all over, it takes about 3 months to get into the groove again.

I was just offered a job from Transcend and have read that most of their work is VR. Is 5 cpl any good? I really want to learn VR because it looks like that is where the future is headed. I used to be offered 9 cpl for straight transcription, and now I have to beg for 8 cpl for clinic work.

I have been offered anywhere from 1.5 cpl to a whopping 4 cpl, even with years of experience until I found Transcend. I like my job with them a lot and they pay the best for editing. The work can get sporadic on a few accounts and I suspect this is because they sending it to India. This is something they do not hide. I'm not anti-India or anything, but I would like assurance that I have work, which is tricky sometimes.

Rest assured that there is PLENTY of work at Transcend !! If the accounts that you do are running low, make sure you email your TL and ROM so they can send you the work. There is more than enough to go around, but individuals just can't see the whole picture at once. Ask for work - you'll be glad you did :)

I work for 2 companies. I accepted a job position with Transcend not too long ago and have had nothing but problems. I love my original company and I just want to work full-time for them. I took the job at Transcend b/c my hubby was not working much but he has now gotten a new job and is going to be making good money so I don't really need a second job. Transcend's platform is terrible and I can't even begin to describe how terrible their audio files are. And during training you can only do 10 jobs a day which equals no money. So I am going to say the heck with them. They are a waste of time.....nice people but their training process is too aggravating. How do you guys quit a company? Do you just send them an email? I don't really want to call anyone there because then they will try to convince you to stay.

I just quit a company (Transcend) who has the same thing going on. I'll be going with another service for about six months, and then after that I figure I'll go Independent IC, freelance. It could work out that I recruit and we become a company in our own right.

We are all human.
If they take you back, then give it a while before looking for a new position, and then when you leave the next time, you'll know to have it all in place before giving your notice. Don't fall for these must start right away advertisements for jobs. They are a buncha you know what. All companies have at least one MT to cover until they find a new hire. Nothing happens overnight!
Your other option would be to start applying and testing with other companies. I remember Transcend being really quick to get me equipment when I worked for them. Another idea would be to post your resume here and you may get offers if you haven't already done so. Oh gosh, I feel so bad for you. Please let us know how you make out. What a pickle; but you can still transcribe, so you should be okay as long as you can pick up something really soon.
