Book about Great Depression, 1928 and 1929. [2008-11-18]
BOOK: The Crisis Of The Old Order By: Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. In 1928 and 1929, the nation had reached, it seemed, a permanent plateau of prosperity. Businesses expanding. Foreign trade growing. The stock market was continuing to rise. And national leadership could not now be in more expert or safer hands. I have no fears for the future of our country, said Herbert Hoover in his inaugural address in March 1929. It is bright with hope. There remained a few discordant voices, anxious in the main over the stock market boom. In spring 1929, Hoover summoned a special session of Congress to deal with these issues. The session was not a success. The Board one provision was to control temporary surpluses. The session adjourned from April to November without taking action on the tariff. Hoover wanted state public lands and reclamatin projects and related irrigation matters be withdrawn from national control and states to manage these affairs then Federal Government. President Yet most Americans remained more interested in teh stock market than economic question and the few interest as now beginning to turn into concern. Early 1929, Federal Reserve Board under pressures of NY Federal Reserve Bank, finally consented to warn member banks that they should not lend money for speculative purposes. But did not work. Some argued that a restrictive policy might well induce deflation. The board felt it created a state of mind which breeds depression. It was certainly true that reducing the interest rate was a clumsy way of combatting THE BOOM. As long as the stock market offered highest returns, it was bound to have first call on funds. Higher interest rate would haveslowed down investment, cause capitalization process and bring down prices ofALL CAPITAL ASSETS and thus discourage investment. President Hoover did nothing as he was preoccupied with his own mind and watched the Boardrun the course. CHECK THIS OUT!!! Finally by summer 1929, some danger signs were apparent, STARTLING DECLINE IN BULIDING CONTRACTS. Residential constructionfor the entire yearSANK.CONSUMER SPENDING WAS SLACKENING.By midsummer1929, building began to fall off, wholesale commodity prices dropped.InAugust, Federal Reserve Board finally agreed to raise to 6 percent. In SeptemberStock Exchange price were at the highest. On October 23,PRICES STARTED FALLING.WALL STREET WAS SHAKEN. Anxiety was suddenly infectious. As panic spread, stocks dropped. Hoover stated, The fundamental business of the country, that is production and distribution of commodities is a sound and prosperous basis. As prices held for a week, bankersQUIETLY fed back into the stock market that they had bought on Black Thursday for furtherfuture storms. Banks protected themselvesagainst theircustomers.OnMonday, new explosion of gloom and panic happend. GeneralMotors stock lost nearly 2 million. It soon was an avalanche, vast numbers rushing to get out of the market. By noon, 8 million shares traded hands and by closing time, Exchangehad broken all records with 16 million shares. Bymid November the financial community began to survey thewreckage. New York Stock Exchange had fallen 40 percent in value. CAUSE OF THE CRASH: Management Decline of mass purchasing power (like our real estate in 2005?) as goods flowed out of expanding capital plant in ever greater quantities, less and less cash in the hands of buyers to carry goods off the market. Seven years of fixed capital investment at high rates had overbuilt productive capacity and had thus saturated the economy. The slackening of the automotive and building industries. Businessmen trying TO SAVE THEMSELVES COULD ONLY WRECK THEIR SYSTEM. Representing the financiers, it had ignored irresponsible practices in the securities of the markets. Ignored the weight of private debt. Result was both class and national disaster.

People are going to be in for a disappointment [2008-11-05]
Not all republicans have been happy with Bush. In fact I couldnstolen election conspiracy theory. The fact of the matter is the election was not stolen. Of course the democrats who loved Bill Clinton wanted AL Gore to get in and am sure felt that there should have not been an election...just put him in. Conservatives? No don't give them a chance to vote. Only we matter. As hard as it is to understand, electoral votes count (not popular vote). Always has always will be. I find it absurd that whenever a republican is ahead in popular vote as Bush was the democrats said that's fine because it's the electoral votes that count (that is when they thought Gore & Kerry had the electoral votes). But then when it came down to it and found out that actually Gore & Kerry had the popular vote and not electoral votes the tune changed real fast. Then we kept hearing shouts from dems saying, no it should be the popular vote that count. The hard truth of the matter is that no matter how much people want it to be, Gore & Kerry were not ahead in electoral votes. However, since I didn't vote for Bush and I also didn't vote for either Gore or Kerry (can we say nin-com-poops) I didn't care who got in. Both choices were not good. But it does get tiring hearing people say the same old lies when they don't have the facts. I guess they feel as if they say it enough or get enough people to say it they'll actually believe it. Then if you want to talk about stolen elections, we can talk about how Obama stole the election from Hillary. How they found 2 ladies from the democrats side dumping republican ballots out behind a polling booth, how they got ACORN to register people 70 and 80 times, how the democrats allowed prisoners to vote, how the democrats refused to count 70% of the militaries votes, how the republicans were turned away from voter booths saying the machines were not working and to come back later, howe the democrats were registering homeless people and letting them use park benches as addresses (wow talk about way masses voter fraud there). How Hillary was standing inside the polling booths doing her politicking only 5 feet from voter tables. How the black panthers were brought in to intimidate republicans. Then we can go back to the Gore campaing when they found a democrat with a voting machine in his car and he kept voting for Gore well over 100 times. And the list goes on and on and on. As for the war. I think everyone realizes now we went to war for the wrong reasons, but fighting terror and keeping this country safe is not meaningless. Nobody wants our troops their everyone wants them home. However, Obama is not going to be bringing them home. In fact he and McCain had pretty much the same plan. Obama plans to keep them there for the next 5 years. Then when they withdraw from there they will not be coming home. He has them planned to go to other dangerous area. As for Bush...no he is not the most smartest in the bunch. However you cannot put the whole blame on him. He was given so called intelligence that was bad and wrong. How he handled it was very wrong. I do think itgoofball. Just doesn't sound so bad.

Are we far enough removed from the election [2008-12-01]
I wish this was original (I'm not this smart) and I'm sorry if you've all already received it in your email but I thought it was great (you KNOW I'm a republican--you may not know that I love Condoleeza Rice and would have taken to the streets to support her in a bid for the presidency). It has been suggested that if we really wanted to tick-off the dems, the party should get GWB to step down, now, as president, leaving Chaney as president. Chaney could then could ask for Condoleeza Rice to serve as his vice president (certainly not out of the question, given her position). Then CHeny could step down, thus producing the first Black Female president---and she'd be a republican!!!! What a stitch!

It does make you wonder whose [2008-12-01]
butt the big liberal news is trying to kiss today. Those numbers are continually tossed around and no one bothers to check the facts. A neighbor who worked for GM for 40 years does get pension and healthcare benefits, etc., but the average worker now is making roughly $40/hour, which would include their benefits package as well. Of course, that is still great pay and is what many do not realize is actually what keeps the middle class in this country going. I too was surprised they are going on and on about what the 3 big auto execs are using for transportation to get to the hearings considering you didn't hear a bunch of hooplah about what the AIG execs were skirting around the countryside in. Strange no liberal media went on and on and on about what they drove, what style they traveled in, etc., so it becomes very clear to me who the brown nosers are.

Joint Chiefs Chairman "Very Positive" After Meeting with Obama [2008-11-30]
Joint Chiefs Chairman 'Very Positive' After Meeting With Obama- By Karen DeYoungWashington Post Staff WriterSunday, November 30, 2008; A01 Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, went unarmed into his first meeting with the new commander in chief -- no aides, no PowerPoint presentation, no briefing books. Summoned nine days ago to President-elect Barack Obama's Chicago transition office, Mullen showed up with just a pad, a pen and a desire to take the measure of his incoming boss. There was little talk of exiting Iraq or beefing up the U.S. force in Afghanistan; the one-on-one, 45-minute conversation ranged from the personal to the philosophical. Mullen came away with what he wanted: a view of the next president as a non-ideological pragmatist who was willing to both listen and lead. After the meeting, the chairman felt very good, very positive, according to Mullen spokesman Capt. John Kirby. As Obama prepares to announce his national security team tomorrow, he faces a military that has long mistrusted Democrats and is particularly wary of a young, intellectual leader with no experience in uniform, who once called Iraq a dumb war. Military leaders have all heard his pledge to withdraw most combat forces from Iraq within 16 months -- sooner than commanders on the ground have recommended -- and his implied criticism of the Afghanistan war effort during the Bush administration. But so far, Obama appears to be going out of his way to reassure them that he will do nothing rash and will seek their advice, even while making clear that he may not always take it. He has demonstrated an ability to speak the lingo, talk about mission plans and tasking, and to differentiate between strategy and tactics, a distinction Republican nominee John McCain accused him of misunderstanding during the campaign. Obama has been careful to separate his criticism of Bush policy from his praise of the military target=>Michelle Obama target=>U.S. military goals and capabilities, which many found lacking during the Bush years. Open and serious debate versus ideological certitude will be a great relief to the military leaders, said retired Maj. Gen. William L. Nash of the Council on Foreign Relations. Senior officers are aware that few in their ranks voiced misgivings over the Iraq war, but they counter that they were not encouraged to do so by the Bush White House or the Pentagon under Donald H. Rumsfeld. The joke was that when you leave a meeting, everybody is supposed to drink the Kool-Aid, Nash said. In the Bush administration, you had to drink the Kool-Aid before you got to go to the meeting. Obama target=>Robert M. Gates as defense secretary and expected appointment of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state and retired Marine Gen. James L. Jones as national security adviser have been greeted with relief at the Pentagon. Clinton is respected at the Pentagon and is considered a defense moderate, at times bordering on hawkish. Through her membership on the Senate Armed Services Committee -- sought early in her congressional career to add gravitas to her presidential aspirations -- she has developed close ties with senior military figures. Some in the military are suspicious of flagpole officers such as Jones, whose assignments included Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, Marine commandant and other headquarters service, and who grew up in France and is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. But Jones also saw combat in Vietnam and served in Bosnia. His reputation is pretty good, one Pentagon official said. He and at a lean 6-foot-4, the former Georgetown basketball player looks great in a suit. Although Jones occasionally and privately briefed candidate Obama on foreign policy matters -- on Afghanistan, in particular, as did current deputy NATO commander Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry -- he is not considered an intimate of the president-elect. But as Obama target=>Brent Scowcroft and Colin L. Powell, who injected order and discipline to a National Security Council full of strong personalities with independent power bases. Although exit polls did not break out active-duty voters, it is virtually certain that McCain won the military vote. In an October survey by the Military Times, nearly 70 percent of more than 4,000 officers and enlisted respondents said they favored McCain, while about 23 percent preferred Obama. Only African American service members gave Obama a majority. In exit polls, those who said they had ever served in the U.S. military made up 15 percent of voters and broke 54 percent for McCain to 44 percent for Obama. As a culture, we are more conservative and Republican, a senior officer said. Obama has said he will meet with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs as well as the service chiefs during his first week in office. At the top of his agenda for that meeting will be what he has called the militarynew mission of planning the 16-month withdrawal timeline for Iraq. Senior officers have publicly grumbled about the risk involved. Moving forward in a measured way, tied to conditions as they continue to evolve, over time, is important, Mullen said at a media briefing four days before his Nov. 21 meeting with Obama. I prior to the election, he said. The last Democratic president, Bill Clinton, clashed with the chiefs during his first sit-down with them when they opposed his campaign pledge to end the ban on gays in the military. The chiefs, some of whom held the commander in chief in thinly veiled contempt as a supposed Vietnam draft dodger, won the battle, and Clinton spent much of his two terms seen as an adversary. But Mullen came away from the Chicago talk reassured that Obama will engage in a discussion with them, balancing risks and asking tough questions . . . but not in a combative, finger-pointing way, one official said. The president-elect target=>Capitol Hill and whose first two-year term as chairman does not expire until the end of September, was seen as an attempt to establish a relationship and avoid early conflict. While some Pentagon officials believe an Iraq withdrawal order could become Obama target=>Defense Department sources said that Gates, Mullen and Gen. David H. Petraeus, head of the military's Central Command, are untroubled by the 16-month plan and feel it can be accomplished with a month or two of wiggle room. These sources noted that Obama himself has said he would not be careless about withdrawal and would retain a residual force of unspecified size to fight terrorists and protect U.S. diplomats and civilians. The officer most concerned about untimely withdrawal, sources said, is the Iraq commander, Gen. Ray Odierno. Even as the Iraq war continues, defense officials are far more worried about Afghanistan, where they see policy drift and an unfocused mission. With strategy reviews now being completed at the White House and by the chairman's office, an internal Pentagon debate is well underway over whether goals should be lowered. Although Gen. David McKiernan, the U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, has requested four more U.S. combat brigades, some Pentagon strategists believe a smaller presence of Special Forces and trainers for Afghan forces -- and more attention to Pakistan -- is advisable. Bush's ideological objective of a modern Afghan democracy, several officials said, is unattainable with current U.S. resources, and there is optimism that Obama will have a more realistic view. A number of senior officers also look with favor on Obama's call for talks with Iran over Iraq and Afghanistan, separating those issues from U.S. demands over Tehran's nuclear program. One of the biggest long-term military issues on Obama's plate will be the defense budget, currently topping 4.3 percent of gross domestic product once war expenditures are included. Obama has said he will increase the size of the Army and the Marine Corps, finding savings in the Iraq drawdown and in new scrutiny of spending, including on contractors, weapons programs and missile defense. They know the money is coming down, a Pentagon official said of the uniformed services, and many welcome increased discipline. But itIt Polling analyst Jennifer Agiesta and research Editor Alice Crites contributed to this report.

Doesn't matter what you THINK you know [2008-11-30]
One of my best friends is an immigration lawyer and also does adoption from foreign countries. He knows the laws and says Indonesia does NOT have dual citizenship.....never has with the U.S. and the U.S. does not recognize dual citizenship with Indonesia. Dealing with countries that do not recognize dual citizenship is not the same as say dealing with Great Britain. Under Indonesian law, if a parent renounces a child's citizenship to another country, that is all that matters. That child no longer has U.S. citizenship......period!!! His stepfather renounced his citizenship to the U.S., whether you like it or not. Now, if Obama wanted to renounce his citizenship to Indonesia, he could have done so at the appropriate age of adulthood, but he did not. Even then, it takes a lot more in Indonesia that just renouncing....a lot of mumbo jumbo and red tape to do that as well. Indonesia does have a law starting in ག that supposedly would allow dual citizenship, but it still hasn't gotten roots yet and really no one has been able to even get dual citizenship with this supposed law, so like it or not, Obama is NOT a U.S. citizen.

which, eventually, he will. Do you hear yourself? First of all, you DO NOT support him nor give him a chance to prove you wrong. You are against him from the get-go. Let's be clear on that. Second of all, you would not know the truth if it bit you in the tush. You have made up your mind and anything that doesn't agree with your vision of what should be will ultimately be some kind of conspiracy in your mind. All I can tell you is to open your mind and consider everything that is happening in the here and now, open your heart too. History shows that many great men and women endured rejection and even martyrdom when, against all odds, they stood up for what they believed for the greater good of all mankind, with the devil always in the background trying to dissuade. We have not seen someone like that in a very long time and I think people are very discouraged and find it hard to trust. The Chicken Little philosophy is getting us little people nowhere. Yes, we have to be vigilant and cautious, but we also have to bring our country together in this very precarious time. Always remember, if you don't like what he does, you can vote him out in 4 years. What a great country!

And as far as everything else you posted, I agree 100%! How can ANYONE with a brain still argue against a certified birth certificate AND an old birth announcement from the newspaper archives?! People are grasping at straws. But then again, these are people who think the country was doing great under republicans, that Iraq attacked the WTC, and who don't even recognize the impending DEPRESSION Bush threw us into, which McCain would've continued exactly the same, so what else can you expect from these people.

Other than that, all y'all have a great day, you hear?

I don't agree [2008-11-29]
I think those of us who love this country are duty bound to confront this anti-Obama movement whereever we find it. The foundation of this issue is way deeper than just a bunch of bored MTs discussing it. Someone has put up money to file these lawsuits and now they are asking that anyone and everyone who can cough up $5000 hire an attorney and file a lawsuit. There are no doubt a bunch of sheep who are just following along whether or not they have the $5000 or are just spreading their agenda for them. Ordinary people had better wake up and figure out just who it is they are going to follow. All the special interest groups have near to ruined this great Nation and now they want to finish bringing her to her knees. Just what do you suppose the REAL agenda is? Think about it.

Of all the headlines out there, THIS is the one [2008-11-28]
Your entire post is based on the false premise that Obama is foreign born. I have already addressed this preposterous notion numerous times over the campaign season and will not waste my time presenting irrefutable facts to those who have no interest in reality beyond the speculation, gossip and outlandish fabrications of the disenfranchised. Would you mind citing the right-wing rag sources of your so-called headlines? I am asking you for this information because I do not find the ignorance displayed in the fringe right's hate blogs the least bit entertaining or enlightening. Beyond Focks News, there is not one single media outlet (and I read and listen to numerous national and international sources on a daily basis) that carries this garbage bag around. Your first dose of reality should be that the thousands of demanding people are not the slightest bit interested in the truth. They have been confronted with it time and time again on this issue, yet continue to reject any and all factual substance in an effort to keep their divisive and hate-filled agenda alive at a time when clearly the country has their eyes turned in a completely opposite direction. Denial will not change the fact that this IS nothing more than sour grapes perpetuated by a handful of Hillary supporters who do not have the sense to follow their own leader's lead in support of the very much American President-Elect and driven by all sorts of myopic, loopy fringe elements. These folks care nothing about honoring the Constitution, much less the will of the American voters, but rather make a mockery of it by their frivolous law suits and show utter contempt and disregard for the clear majority of their fellow citizens who have handed the highest office in the land to Obama. Please spare us the pontification about your detractors who you perceive fear the truth. Like I just said, this has nothing to do with the truth. You and your ilk would not know the truth if it walked up and slapped you in the face. Hillary sucked up her disappointment in defeat and has now hopped onboard for the sake of the nation. It's time you folks follow suit. The courts have spoken already on this issue and will be repeating themselves yet again. The only destiny that lays ahead for your claims is patent dismissal as frivolous and unfounded. There is no question that lays beyond that action that merits further discussion....either on this board or in the courts. Obama is not the one who has created all the suspicion and doubt....it is the fringe bull-dog blogosphere that has done that single-handedly...and they seem mighty smug and proud of themselves, unable to recognize the contempt most Americans hold for this most unwelcome, delusional distraction. I am unable to address the content of any article you have cited here in the absence of a source. You may choose to ponder the is he or isn question to your heartcaptivated by this MINISCULE SEGMENT of the blogosphere. It is unbelievable to me that of all the headlines, including the horror of Indiaother worldliness of it all, you may have a moment of clarity of purpose, and can Transcend your fantasies long enough to dredge up a little compassion for the residents of Mumbai and some respect for this somber histoical moment we find ourselves suspended in the day after Thanksgiving. I for one would welcome a discussion on possible implications of the yet to be identified message and source of Indiayou rhetoric that has served us so poorly these past 7 years since the WTC attacks.

The lefties in this country are going to be the ruination of America. If they could get their heads out of the sand, they might understand that there is a crisis brewing here of monstrous proportions that could bode very badly for America. And as to credibility, the only reason you deem her (or any other writer/journalist who DARES to speak against the great and might O is because they are not saying what you want to hear. Obama is FOR rule of law. If he were to appoint folks to be in his pocket like bush, he would be like bush. I guarantee he wants to be nothing at all like bush. Sorry about your fearful state. Lots of us out here are encouraged and looking forward to a great future!

Ok, read my posts again and researched some more [2008-11-26]
You are correct, my first post did say this is a transition period. It also said there is no such thing as an Office of President Elect, and technically he is not yet the president elect. That doesnofficial. This is all to feed his ego. Of course I understand that when people are elected they need to start choosing people for their cabinet, etc. Every president has done that, but that is not what is raising everyoneOffice of President-Elect was something that was created by the O. Bush did not have an Office of President Elect in 2000. Upon further research I found that Obama created this and it is a new branch of government. Makes me wonder how someone who is not even president-elect yet can create a new branch of government. It states in the article, the site has a .gov top-level domain (change.gov). That is reserved for qualified government organizations and programs. The incoming administration technically has no status as a government organization or program until January 20. Here is the link for that. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/president_elect_obama_has_already_created_a_new_branch_of_government/ Here are some other people's comments about this... Obama’s arrogance is exceeded only by his inexperience and naivete. With the economy falling faster than a meteor from space, I can’t wait until he falls flat on his face. Would serve him right. On the 4th-we were all given a feces sandwich-open your big mouths wide and take a big bite like everyone else will have to (assuming you’re even from this country). Maybe by the time you learn what made this country great you’ll make better choices on future election days. It wasn’t socialism and hand outs from the federal government that made this the country that people literally die trying to get into. The egomaniacs are the ones for whom BHO’s election was the highlight of your lives. How sad is that? Most of us won’t fall apart just because the candidate of our choice lost. But this guy is really weird, these aren’t easy times and McCain would have had the best interests of America at heart, not socialist ideology that never has worked anywhere without capitalism to prop it up Here's another interesting article. It states If the Constitution is flawed (Obama's words), then how could Obama take office and defend it. And also how could the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court offer the oath to a president elect Obama, knowing his view of the constitution. http://theamericansentinel.com/2008/10/28/if-constitution-flawed-then-how-can-obama-take-office-and-defend-it/ And yet another commenter said... Perhaps the media needs to create a new acronym for President elect Obama. My suggestion is: PeOTUS! His signage should read: From the Office of His Oneness President elect Obama.

Bush's pardons [2008-11-26]
Did anyone happen to notice that his pardon list didn Now there was a miscarriage of justice for ya and it just happened to come out of the Great State of Texas or maybe Bushexas. There is sure something fishy going on there!!!!

if newsmax said it, it must be so! [2008-11-26]
Finally, in this time of trouble, where all we hear are the lies of the liberal media, it's great to have a site like NewsMax, funded by billionaire right-wing philanthropists like Richard Mellon Scaife!

Patriotism [2008-11-26]
you to accept and submit to our new president. All those hopefulabolitionists, succesionists, socialitesand document questioners are directly UNDERMINING our country by spreading unrest and false stories when we need to gather together to work together. A simple piece of paper regarding a birth place is not relevent now that we have elected a great leader. Nothing can change our destiny, so Bind together. Weave together. Read together.

Wait! We don't know if he's going to be [2008-11-26]
a great leader yet. I'm hoping so, and so does DH, but only time will tell.

Hopefully we will soon know [2008-11-26]
Otherwise I say keep it going until the truth be known. - We deserve the truth Orders from new president to spark lawsuit every timeLawyer lining up plaintiff groups until citizenship dispute addressed A lawyer who is playing a key role in a California lawsuit urging officials to prevent the state's 55 Electoral College votes from being recorded for Barack Obama until questions about his citizenship are resolved says he's organizing plans to challenge, even after the inauguration, every order, every proposal, every piece of paperwork generated by Obama. We will file lawsuits on his actions, every time. As long as we have money , we will keep filing lawsuits until we get a decision as to his citizenship status, Gary Kreep, chief of the United States Justice Foundation, . We he said. The complaint urges the California secretary of state to refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast until Obama's citizenship and related eligibility to hold office is resolved. It is just one of more than a dozen legal challenges brought forward so far over Obamanatural-born citizen. Sign the petition to insist on release of birth certificate. There have been allegations he was born in Kenya, not Hawaii as his campaign has reported, that he could be considered a British subject because of his fatherCertificate of Live Birth posted on his website simply shows his mother registered his birth in Hawaii after he was born but does not document a location. There also have been questions raised about his travels as a youth, including the years he spent registered as a Muslim in an Indonesian school, and his later travels to Pakistan at a time when U.S. passports weren't welcome in that nation. The biggest question is why Obama, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists, simply hasn't ordered it made available to settle the rumors. The governor's office in Hawaii said there is a valid certificate but rejected requests for access and left ambiguous its origin: Does the certificate on file with the Department of Health indicate a Hawaii birth or was it generated after the Obama family registered a Kenyan birth in Hawaii? Obamaeurl=http://blog.barofintegrity.us/2008/11/01/barack-nate-dhalani.aspx?ref=rss target=_blank>video posted on YouTube features Obama Obama's birth in Kenya. The California action was filed on behalf of Keyes, as well as Wiley S. Drake and Markham Robinson, both California electors. Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void, Petitioners, as well as other Americans, will suffer irreparable harm in that (a) usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal, the action challenges. Kreep is now working with several groups that could serve as plaintiffs to challenge Obama's actions, even from the Oval Office, should the issue remain in dispute. There is a reasonable and common expectation by the voters that to qualify for the ballot, the individuals running for office must meet minimum qualifications as outlined in the federal and state Constitutions and statutes, and that compliance with those minimum qualifications has been confirmed by the officials overseeing the election process, the complaint said, when in fact the only documentation currently required is a signed statement from the candidate attesting to those qualifications. The issue is much more important than a single candidate, said Judge Roy Moore, the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. He now runs the Foundation for Moral Law. Moore had his own constitutional confrontation when he was removed from his position Alabama Supreme Court chief justice after he refused to remove from state grounds a monument recognizing the Ten Commandments as the foundation for U.S. law. We can survive four years of any president; we cannot survive without a Constitution,. This calls for a major investigation. Our Constitution is at stake. Moore said the requirement for a president to be a natural-born citizen is clear in the Constitution. The document, he added, provides procedures to amend the requirement, but that hasn't been done. We live under the rule of law, he warned, If we start ignoring that. ... If Obama is allowed to take office without proving his citizenship, then we have no Constitution. America as it wrote Tony Costello. Moore said, If a person is not qualified, he He added the members of the Electoral College have an obligation to verify Obama's qualifications before voting for him. But he said the dispute may end up with court action, too. The courts are there to uphold the law. People have a right to change the Constitution. But until then it he said. I don Moore said. The Supreme Court has to answer this. They have to do it by law and not by the popularity of a person. If we do that, we might as well throw the Constitution out the window, Moore said. [Obama] has the answer. He knows where he was born. If he tells something that U.S. State Department officials declined to respond to inquiries about the process for keeping a U.S. citizenship while attending schools in Indonesia, or the possibility of a U.S. citizen keeping that status while traveling on another nation's passport. But several online fact sites have reported that the concerns over Obama's citizenship are much ado about nothing. Factcheck.org, for example, has posted an image described as Obamabirth certificate. But within the image can be seen the words Certificate of Live Birth, which is not the same document. In Hawaii at the time Obama was born the state would issue a Certificate of Live Birth to a parent registering a birth, but it does not indicate the location of the birth. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate, the group said in a statement accompanying the image of the Certificate of Live Birth. Snopes, also, attested to Obama's U.S. citizenship, citing information from the campaign itself. However, there are too many questions to ignore. In Hawaii, a Certification of Live Birth is issued within a year of a child she said. She cited the work of Ron Polarik, who holds a Ph.D. in instructional media and specializes in computer graphics with over 20 years experience with computers, printers and typewriters. Polarik has submitted a signed affidavit and has now released his findings on video at www.ObamaForgery.com with his identity masked and voice altered to guard against the carrying out of threats, which he has already received, Porter wrote. The Summary: The Certificate of Live Birth documents posted on Mr. Obama target=_blank>www.fightthesmears.com, Daily Kos (a pro-Obama blog) and factcheck.org, (a pro-Obama political research group), were found to be altered and forged, she said. The researcher cited problems with pixels in the image and a fold line and a blurry border. He asserts the border is a 2007 version while the seal and signature are from 2008. She also cited issues beyond the birth certificate. There Porter wrote. There she wrote. If he couldn she wrote. Porter encouraged residents to contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee with a request to hold congressional hearings and write to the U.S. Supreme Court to request a ruling. On the FederalistBlog the writers concluded: A child born to an American mother and alien father could be said to be a citizen of the United States by some affirmative act of law but never entitled to be a natural-born citizen because through laws of nature the child inherits the condition of their father. Obama's mother held U.S. citizenship, but his father never did. Herb Titus, the Constitution Party's running mate to Howard Phillips in 1996 and recognized authority on the U.S. Constitution, said it is up the electors from the 50 states to make certain Obama is a natural-born U.S. citizen before they cast votes for him in the Electoral College Dec. 15. If they do their duty, they would make sure that if they cast a vote for Mr. Obama, that Mr. Obama is a natural-born citizen, I think it should be resolved. The duty is in the Electoral College. Every Obama elector that is committed to casting a vote on the 15th of December, they have a constitutional duty to make certain whether Mr. Obama is a natural-born citizen, he said. If the electors fail their duty and Obama proves ultimately to fail the eligibility requirement of the U.S. Constitution, there would be only the laborious, contentious and cumbersome process of impeachment available to those who would wish to follow the Constitution, he suggested. The level of frustration is rising. Dozens contributed their thoughts immediately after the forum was posted: What makes Obama non-respon[sive] to the simplest of requests? asked one reader. Does he think that it is politically incorrect to ask for authentication of the myriad of facts about himself … Is he testing the grounds to see how far he can play with this charade? Other comments included: Obama won his first election ever by getting three Democratic opponents thrown off the ballot? He's all for using the law to help himself win. Wouldn't it be ironic if he is not allowed to serve as president due to the law? … Turn around is fair play! Obama There must be something that would have caused him great harm prior to the election, and would have stopped him from becoming elected. What could that little piece of information be?

Anchor babies are natural citizens... sm [2008-11-26]
by virtue of being born on American soil, just as the babies of Chinese immigrants or German immigrants or any other nationality are citizens of this country if they are born on US soil. Granted, the influx of illegal aliens from Mexico has created a problem in that it has burdened the welfare system in this country, but that is not the issue here. The issue is that Obama cannot produce proof that he is a natural born American citizen. The birth certificate floating around the internet purported to be real is a fake. You can find anything on the internet these days, true or not. Just the fact that liberals shoot down every article posted in support of a conservativenot a credible source is proof of that. Mr. Obama is well aware of the questions being raised concerning his birth certificate. If he had a REAL birth certificate, why would he just not produce it and put an end to all the speculation? Because he cancoincidentally his birth records were sealed at the same time. Isn't that interesting? Mr. Obama lived for 5 years in Indonesia, a country that does not recognize dual citizenship, therefore nullifying his American citizenship IF it ever existed in the first place. There are no records on file where he ever applied for citizenship after returning to the US. We have to produce birth certificates for our children to attend school today. Why shouldn't the man who would be POTUS have to show his? Barack Obama is not even legally a black American. He only has one black great-great-grandmother on his father's side while the other 7 were Arab. That makes him 50% white, 43.75% Arab, and 6.25% black. 12.5% is the minimum required to legally claim any racial status in America. Obama would qualify as the first Arab-American president, NOT the first black president. That is why they keep saying African-American and NOT black because they know he is African Arab and not African black. Why would you want anyone who has any kind of questionable background leading our country? Would you allow persons of questionable background to teach your children in school? What if that person was suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with a child but it could not be proven? Would you want to run that risk? I agree that America has more pressing problems that whether the man about to take the helm is a natural born citizen, but do you want someone who is not even an American leading us through these problems?

Kenya has no business in the business of the U.S. [2008-11-26]
I may be an idjit myself and I am certainly the most cynical of the cynical. While I As for GWB, he certainly does deserve some discussion. Like why did he not straight away pardon those 2 border patrol agents who were the target of the worst miscarriage of justice I have personally ever seen? Could there be something synister there? I think so. I am most certainly NOT a liberal and by the heart of conservatives, I am NOT a conservative either. I do agree with them (if they really believe it) that abortion and gay marriage are wrong. HOWEVER, my opinion being stated, I believe those are moral issues and as such belong to God and not the government. I also do not believe God requires my assistance in passing judgement on them. Soooo....with all the problems we were facing, t here are many more important issues than Obama I drug my feet in voting for Obama but I do have a glimmer of hope that he is working to at least get some plan in place for the day he is inaugerated. Everyone deserves a chance. The American people have spoken so it's time to put this b/c nonissue to rest and get to the business of importance...like millions of people projected to be unemployed and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, which if something isn't done and soon we are headed for the worst times most of you have ever seen and you'll have enough to worry about just wondering how you're going to put food on the table.

you clearly are uniformed [2008-11-25]
That was just one of his books. People write about different subjects all the time that is not in the way we think. Can you imagine what people would have thought if before 1963 someone wrote about the assassination of our then president JFK and who was behind it. Hate to say what they would have been called. Don't tell ME you don't think he's a great thinker. Tell it to the communities that sponsor him. Tell it to the thousands and thousands of people that go to his seminars and support him. Tell it to the scientists and other authors who support him and his ideas. It shows you obviously have not read any of his works (you probably just saw that one line about the repitilian theory and then tried to ridicule someone for their thoughts because they differ from yours). His reptilian theory is only one in several that he has written about. He has written about conspiracy theories, big brother, secret societies, UFOs, child abuse, coverups, how history is being rewritten, mind control, religion, wars, terror, mysteries, government, etc, etc, etc. To discount him (and scientist and writers who support him) just because you don't agree with one of his books???? I would definitely say that's a closed mind if I ever saw one. But then again Ireality show Survivor is real, and the contestants on Survivor really are on these islands all alone, starving, having to hunt for their food and sleep on the ground, etc. And then you have those oh so realistic fights between each of them and oh my how they suffer and are challenged. BWAHAHAHAHAH.

I would be surprised [2008-11-25]
if you had not heard at least a few names on this list, which is, by no means, exhaustive. Many of the most famous serial killers (e.g., Jeffrey Dahmer, Andrew Cunanan, John Wayne Gacy, Henry Lee Lucas, Ottis Toole, etc.) were homosexuals, but they became widely known due to the nature of their crimes or the identities of their victims, not because they in any way represent serial killers generally. Thanksgiving...........sm [2008-11-25]
As I look back on the last few weeks that I have been posting on this board, it becomes even more apparent to me from the opinions expressed herethat we live in a country of such diversity, politically, culturally, economically and religiously and probably more so than at any time in our short history. While we may not agree at times and may even argue heatedly at times over certain issues, we still have the freedom to hold our own opinions and express them freely and for that I am truly thankful. As we move into unchartered waters, as we do with every presidential election, I hope that our ability to be able to express our opinions will continue to remain intact and that we are able to come here and enjoy a good natured debate as doing so has forced me to really examine my opinions and what they are based on and to learn to listen to the opinions of others and how their opinions are formulated. I love my country and I love the people who make up this great nation, even though I may not agree with everyone It is my prayer that America can go forth another 232 years as a great nation comprised of great people who, like me, love our country. I pray that none of us, regardless of our personal opinions or political leanings, will ever take our freedoms for granted, for it is then that we are at our most vunerable and at riskof losing those freedoms that we all hold so dear. So it is with these thoughts that I sincerely wish each and every person reading and/or posting here a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.
