Again, what will you accomplish by [2008-07-01]
That If it wasn If you were that upset about the dog being loose again, you would be concentrating your efforts on getting the dog impounded rather than seeing a lawyer and finding out how to settle with their homeowner It
Your daughter is reliving this incident because you are playing it over and over again for her. I
This reminds me of when I used to work in an office. We actually had a mother bring in a disability form for her 13-year-old, who had tinnitus or some other benign disorder, and wanted it filled out so she could start getting benefits for him. People are always looking for a way to get rich quick - it's the American way.
Has our country taken a turn for the ... [2008-11-21]
Our once great country, I afraid, has just turned a corner for the worse. I have watched as the mentality of our country has gone from setting your mind to something, working hard, and you can accomplish it to giving up, sitting back, and letting somebody else take care of them.
I was brought up, as many were, with a good work ethic that was instilled in us by our parents. With the idea that if you want something you had to work for it, and by working for something you learned quickly the difference between wants and needs.
There were always incentives for a person to strive to better themselves. Whether it were financial incentives, or just the pride you gained in knowing that you did something yourself, it didn’t matter.
I wasn’t long ago that people had that “small town” mentality, and everybody knew their neighbors. And those neighbors helped each other out, in any situation, it was just what you did. And people were so proud that some times help would have to be disguised, you remember the lines like..”Mom made more stew than we could eat, could you help us out by taking it so that it doesn’t go to waste?”
But, somewhere along the line those thoughts of some (I guess now the majority) have changed. Some how, if somebody works hard to gain something others feel entitled to have the same things, even if they didn’t have to go through the struggle to earn it. Some how, things like big screen TVs, cell phones, and shiny new cars have wrongly slipped from the “wants” list to the “needs” list.
Somewhere the incentives to strive for betterment have been replaced by incentives to be lazy. The easy way out and hand outs are now the norm. The feeling of pride about being self sufficient is supposed to be replaced by guilt for having more than others.
The “small town” mentality is gone and our neighbors have turned into strangers. People no longer help out their neighbors or even themselves, instead they sit and wait for the government to come solve things for them. And when help does come they complain that the help wasn’t good enough or didn’t come fast enough, the pride is gone.
Well, I refuse to think that way, my small town roots and work ethic runs to deep. I refuse to let somebody take care of me while I am willing and able to take care of myself. I will continue to meet and know my neighbors and help them out when they need it. I will continue to work hard to take care of my needs and by doing so, my wants will take care of themselves. I will continue to volunteer for things and give to charities of my choice regardless of what the government wants to take away from me and give to the undeserving.
My hope is to change the thinking back to the way it was. The sun will rise again tomorrow, I’ll keep doing what I do, and this country can be great again….at least in my little corner of it…
They talked about this on The View for 2 days and [2008-11-14]
even to the point as to how they have sex and thatmake me sick, especially now that she/he is pregnant again and due in June! BW thinks she's doing the world a favor by doing this special report.
The reasonit keptits female parts was to have kids. What gets me is they never heard of adoption? Why not adopt? Because they wanted to make money, that's why.
I don't know how many times they pointed out that she is now a legal male on all records, SS#, birth (how'd they accomplish that?), marriage license, medical history, etc. If she/he is a legal male, she/he shouldn't have the reproductive organs. Period.
I feel sorryfor the kids. They will be so confused because they are going to tell them as soon as they to speak and/or understand.
This world is going to h---- in a handbasket.
Explaining a couple of things sm [2008-11-14]
I studied IQ as part of my Masterget you because your sense of humor is probably well off the beaten track. You probably lack social skills from an early age. Your peers would play childhood games while you preferred to try to improve upon the toys they played with. In school, you didn't have to work very hard in most areas. It all came very easily. You didn't learn how to learn, which is a very valuable skill. You probably have a low frustration level and when something doesn't come very easily, you are prone to giving up. Because you see the world in completely different terms than people of more average intelligence, those same average people call you crazy or mentally ill and tell you that you should be locked up. You don't fit in and despite the higher intelligence, you are remiss to know how to accomplish the feat of being more ordinary.
I alluded to this in my previous post. I have the unusual combination of being very artistic, creatively gifted AND being rather intellectually gifted. Yes, I did fall at the 99.6% percentile on the Wechsler. I know what it means and I have a firm understanding that indeed, that score suggests that I possess more intelligence than 99.6% of the people who have taken that test, and only 0.4% are smarter than I am. It has been a life-long struggle to fit in. I am too cerebral for artistic people, and too artistic for intellectuals. I literally have no one I fit in with. I have learned to tone myself down to make it work. I didn't say dumb down, I said tone down. That means I don't intentionally talk over the heads of others and I won't cram what I know down anyone's throat.
I have had those people in my life who have been jealous of me. I learn quickly if it is artistic, musical, creative, the written word, history and philosophy. I struggle with math. I took piano lessons 10 years ago. I had 40 of them and had never played the piano before. In 40, 1-hour lessons I could play the Moonlight Sonata in piano solo (not a dumbed down easy version). Most people cannot do that. There many other things I have done in a similar fashion, but this is an example for you.
You ask why I am an MT if I am so smart. I make very good money as an MT and I enjoy the challenge. My photographic memory comes in very handy too. I often stop and read up on a disease process I am transcribing about, so that I know what it means. Show me a word once and I'll know it forever. It makes my job easier for me to accomplish.
This all sounds like I am blowing my own horn, but I am merely trying to explain. Being highly intelligent wonreally smart is not only not helpful, I think it is the root of the housecleaning issues in my life.
In short, it is just great to have a good ol' high number and in the end it makes absolutely difference...if you don't count the fact that people with IQs over 150 are 3 times more likely to be depressed and commit suicide than the average population. People who are 125 to 140 are the most fortunate. They succeed in greater numbers in school, in a job, in life. They are very bright, and likely have learned how to learn. They are more likely to persevere in the face of frustration and challenge.
It really isn't all you think it is.
I like Bare Minerals makeup and Arbonne skin care [2008-10-02]
I don't like to look like I have makeup on and the Bare Minerals helps me accomplish that. The Arbonne skin care is pricey, but to me well worth it - I took a year break from it and went back! I absolutely love the Sephora website!
I'm not really wasting time during the hours [2008-09-05]
that I am awake - it If I could sleep 4 hours a night, I could:
- always have the laundry caught up.
- always have my house clean.
- cook supper each and every night.
- keep my flowers weeded and watered.
- read at least a half an hour a day.
- spend time in devotions and meditation and prayer.
- exercise.
If I could accomplish these things throughout the week, then I could have each and every weekend FREE!I feel like I could gain my life back if I could somehow figure out this sleep thing.
Thanks everybody for your input.
sleep, or lack thereof [2008-09-04]
Iread somewhere this past week that Sarah Palin only requires 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night. I remember in the past reading the same about Jay Leno. For along time now I have thought about how much more I could accomplish if I could justget by on less sleep. I seem to functionwell with7 hours and usually that is what I get.
Do you think that the ability to sleep 3 to 4 hours a night and actually function normally and enjoy life is a gift that a person is born with, or do you think it is something that can be learned?Do you thinka person could get 1/2 hour less sleep per night every week, gradually getting used to less and less sleep, and still function well?Am I the only one who thinks about these things?
Please share your thoughts on this. Do you know anybody who sleeps so few hours, and what is their quality of life?
i think you are greedy [2008-07-08]
The dog shouldnt have bit her and the owners should be responsible. If the dog is dangerous, it should be put down. But you did not have to pay 800.00 out of pocket and I think the 87 dollars should be enough. No amount of money is going to make your daughter feel secure in her neighborhood. How you handle the situation will only do that. It seems to me that you are using this as an opportunity to get some money out of them. If it were me, I would be pushing for the dog to either be put down or the leash laws to be enforced, not pushing for the almighty dollar. What is getting money going to accomplish?
If it was really significant, I would [2008-07-01]
think the final cost would be more than $800. My niece was mauled by a dog and spent about a week in the hospital. She was 4 years old at the time. It was the saddest thing seeing her in that hospital bed with her whole head swollen up. The dog bite ripped out a couple of her still-forming permanent teeth and she ended up with quite a nasty scar along one cheek. Most of the stitches were in her scalp.
My sister and her husband had to sue the homeowner It took quite a while to sort it all out. They ended up with a settlement that would after 15 years of very modest growth pay for her college and also any future medical bills. She has had revision of that scar on her face, but she is 19 years old now and still hasn She ismissing bone where theimplants need to go and so will need grafting to be able to accomplish it.
She was not emotionally scarred forever by the incident. She is fine, and it didn Just keep loving your daughter and shebe back to her old self. Money won
Try not to let your anger overtake you. I know they are responsible, but there is no need to try and take them for as much as you can. You could conceivably ruin their future. Accidents happen. What exactly were the circumstances surrounding the bite?
Identity theft -- never thought it could [2008-06-26]
Yesterday, I got a call from QVC. I had ordered a GPS system for my hubby and QVC called to say they were unable to complete processing of my order because my credit card wouldn QVC said the address I gave them as the billing address did not match the billing address of my credit card. I asked the rep to hold on while I pulled my credit card account up on line. When I did, I saw that my address and phone number had been changed to somewhere in TX (I live in PA). I told QVC I would have to call them back. I immediately called the credit card company. They pulled up my account and said that yes my address had been changed just a few days ago. When I asked how, they couldn They did not know if it was done on-line or by telephone. This, I don If someone called in to change it, shouldn Furthermore, if it was changed on-line, wouldn
At any rate, it was changed, and my cc company tried to contact me to verify it by calling the new phone number given. (Makes no sense). Having received no answer, they sent a letter to me, which I have yet to get. One day after changing my address, someone made a $10 on-line purchase with cc account, which went through. Immediately following that, a $4500 on-line purchase was attempted to be put through. This one the cc company did not allow (thank God for small miracles).
After having all of this explained to me, I was then transferred to an Identity Theft Specialist, who would help me close this account and reopen another one as well as put into action security alerts for me. For the next 7 years, my credit report will be flagged as a fraud alert, meaning that if anyone tries to open a new account in my name, the lender will have go through extensive verification to confirm it I
I also had to file a report with my local police, which I doubt will accomplish anything. Local police are not trained in the same manner as state police, and I don We will see.
I did, however, write down the address and the phone number that my account was changed to. My husband called the number last night from his cell phone and no one answered. He left a message stating he was looking for my name and to please return his call to his number. They immediately called back, but when my husband answered, they said nothing. They called back again later that night and did the same thing.
Here I told her that apparently I was a victim of identity theft. She said that I said what do you mean and she proceeds to tell me that there have been a lot of account takeovers with this particular company and that it was determined to be an inside job. This left me feeling less than secure about setting up a new account with that company. It also makes me wonder if that My husband says as soon as the new account is set up, we
Fortunately, this cc company has 0% identity theft liability, so we will not be responsible for the charges that did go through. However, the bigger concern here is that this person obviously has enough personal information about me to set up new accounts without my knowledge; hence, the reason for the fraud alerts on my credit report.
I am so furious, if I ever get my hands on this person, I My husband and I have worked hard all our lives to have good credit and some skuzbucket thinks he can just come along and take it. I don I intend to pursue this fully. If it is an inside job, I will make sure that this credit card company does something about its current employee background checks.
So, take a minute today and call your credit companies or go on-line and check to make sure that noone has changed your address and phone number.
Research passive-aggressive behavior. (sm) [2008-01-09]
Do you feel you are always at emotional crossroads and everything you decide to do together is handled like warring nations, not like loving partners?
Living with a passive-aggressive behavior spouse creates a daily emotional roller coaster. One is stressed on an almost constant basis and feel as if caring for an unresponsible teenager.
The passive-aggressive personality pretend not to listen, forget on purpose, and purposefully do not complete tasks they agree to accomplish. Sullenness is also a characteristic of the behavior. The passsive-aggressive behavior can rob another one from a beautiful relationship. They cannot always see themselves and have a tendency to blame others (especially spouse) for their behavior. They sometimes display revenge.
To rule out other serious medical conditions, encourage your husband to schedule an appointment with his primary care physician for preventive care only, letting him think nothing is wrong. The physician should order lab testing, and ask for thyroid function studies, etc.
Wishing you the best!!
support [2008-01-07]
Whether I spoke or not has nothing to do with it.....when I was 16, I only weighed about 95 pounds..I am just thin, small, petite and have been so all of my life......I was just trying to give support to anyone who is trying to lose weight if they are determined to do....did not mean to offend anyone.....a person can accomplish anything they have their mind set on when they have a lot of support to do so.....THAT IS ALL I WAS TRYING TO SAY......
Priceless [2007-12-14]

Dog killing and mayor involved in letter writing [2007-12-12]
I am really in a twizzy this morning. Shirley Franklin, city of Atlanta mayor, wrote a letter to the judge involved in the Michael Vick dog fighting/killing asking for leniency as, how she put it, Vick had done a lot for the community and helped folks out. Phooey!!! I hope personally he never is able to return to the Falcons or any other football team. I think whatever he was able to accomplish was blown by the fact that he participated in the killing of dogs. How inhumane is that? I hope PETA gets out and strikes each and every time (if he is rehired by any jackoffs) he is supposed to be playing. Came from the ghetto and I suppose the thug still in him. What a shame. Never made a million in my life and he made mega millions and then threw it all away for ??? I am vexed by her doing such a deed and will send letter stating my feelings.
Do you ever question your husband's decisions? Does he get mad? (sm) [2007-12-11]
My husband got our kids to rake leaves Sunday for about 4 hours and told them he would pay them for it. Son is 10 and big for his age, daughter is 7 and smaller. They both worked hard, to the best of their abilities. I was cleaning the inside of the house while husband was raking with the kids. I went out several times and told them they could take a break if they wanted to and brought them water. He never offers them a break and he got aggravated when I did that. Last night he brought home the money to pay them and gave my son $20 and gave daugher $8. She was upset because she worked hard too but was afraid to talk to him about it. I encouraged her repeatedly to go outside (where he was) and talk to him and state her case, but she wouldn Finally, reluctantly, I went out and tried to talk to him and he was furious with me, as I knew he would be. He said what are you even doing out here talking to me about this?? He said he paid her what she was worth and that a 7-year-old girl can I told him that the point was she had done her best and worked as hard as she was able. He then started fussing at me about the fact that I had gone out and offered them breaks and said that I was always worried about him working them too hard and that is why our son is overweight (adding to that a comment about the size of my rear). I told him that overworking an overweight child occasionally is not the answer to him losing weight. It just went on and on until I was very hurt and upset. Then he walked in the house and told my daughter, Don and acted as if he had intended to all along and wasn
For crying out loud people... [2007-11-29]
it isa TV show. If most of you put the time and energy you spend here being moral police and put itto some good use in the world, think of the things you could accomplish! Sounds like there are a bunch of insecure women out there. Face it, there are beautiful women on this earth and every man looks at them, no matter how whipped and controlled he is. It is nature, men are visual creatures. Face it, would your man rather look at a pretty woman all dressed up or someone in sweats who does not care about her appearance? Good luck trying to keep your man under lock and key... a perfect way to lose them!
Question: If you had a year to live [2007-10-16]
Say other than be with family and friends, what would you want to accomplish or see?
The reason I ask is that my sil has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. The doctor told her she had 5 years to live, but that she had used up 2 of them (?).
She told me that the thing she wants to do most is to read the next Frankenstein book by Dean Koontz. She was trying to be upbeat about the whole thing and to keep me from crying when she told me the news.
Anyway, it got me to thinking, what would I want to do if I had a couple of years left? One thing is to go to the Smithsonian.
I don't mean to depress anybody or make light of a terminal illness, it just got me to thinking, like I said...
Hooray for you! [2007-07-19]
I think you're great! I want to do that - but it'll be another year before I will be in a financial position to do that.
Just ignore your mom - either she's in the habit of being negative or she may be afraid you'll get hurt or disappointed by not being able to accomplish what you set out to do.
Again, huge congrats to you! I bet you have better decorating sense than you think. Trust your judgment and have lots of fun looking at color palettes, the color samples at Home Depot, etc.
Well, not actually shopping but tell you what I have done [2007-07-08]
I am on a mission and I mean get on the train or get left behind. I have the dinner for everyone here this year. I have painted rooms, bought new furniture, had new tile put in 3 rooms, getting new counters for my kitchen, got new carpet put in master bedroom and closet, bought new China for the dinner- I started all this in January knowing full well what I wanted to accomplish. I am an Aries and believe me when I tell you, I want things done yesterday. I should have all I want accomplished by that time. I have a honey-do list for hubby- he has put off a few things but better get with the program.
Scratch up at least half of what you owe - sm [2007-06-18]
(all of it if you can) go on a road trip to see him, 2-day drive or so if I read it correctly (or remember correctly), pay the ex off/get up to date on CS then stay a week or two, at least show your son that you want to see him and not just sitting back waiting for him to come to you when your ex decides it fits his schedule or is okay. Obviously find out if your ex has anything planned for the time you plan to go then just show up, I would not aprise anyone to your plans, just go. Even if he screws you over at least your son will see that you really, really wanted to see him and tried everything to accomplish it. This will make your ex look like a real schmuck if he does not let your son see you while you are visiting. Good luck.
I DO NOT believe in a prince charming at all but, I do believe sm [2007-06-03]
there are good men left out there. I think they are fewer and far between, but they are there. I also think that couples tend to give up on marriages a lot quicker than they used to (but this is just an opinion). I have been married for almost 20 years. He has his faults. I have mine. However, we work together to accomplish things. We are good friends as well as being husband and wife. We neither one started out being great parents, but we learned together. We learned how to work through our arguments and compromise. It takes time and committment to make things work. In saying that though, I do also believe that if the time ever came, I would know when it is time to call it quits. Just remember to try first. If you try and then it does not work and you know you gave your best effort, then it is time to cut your losses and look for greener pastures. I wish you the best.
But - the deputy sheriff and I both [2007-05-29]
were there this morning and the manager said in front of the deputy sheriff I would be paid today at 4. What do you think a letter from a lawyer would accomplish? They did not show up in court when commanded by the courts to do so, did not answer any response sent from the court. Tell me why the lawyer, ok?
Who saw the Lost seasone finale? (warning: spoilers) [2007-05-24]
I can't believe Charlie really died. For a good cause, okay, and he was never my favorite character, but I feel really sorry for Claire.
And what do these people want, these ones on the frieghter? Obviously from Jackflash forward, leaving the island now is not a good idea. Why? What does Ben know? Who sent the ship? Penny's father?
It's beginning to look like Locke has a point about not leaving the island. Maybe they are meant to be there. Maybe there is something that they can only accomplish toether. But what?
Hurley was so cool, coming to the rescue in his VW bus. Go Hurley!!

first of all, of course they try and talk people into taking services they did not go there for. It is a part of their job to *recommend* things that will cost you more money. It is the *bottom line*, afterall, that matters, and not any one customer's overall well being.
Secondly, it was a *suggestion* by your hairdresser. She did not force you to have it done or did it without consulting you. You agreed to it. Personally, knowing that these places try to *enhance* their services to extract more money from your bank account, I would have been steadfast and refused her *kind suggestion* and just asked her to do what I wanted. But that is just me. If you are truly unsatisfied with the outcome and have a legitimate gripe, then complain *nicely* and ask for your money back for the processing. Usually if a customer is unsatisfied with the outcome, they will refund money or offer to fix it for free. Good luck to you in that respect.
and just as a side note, and no criticism intended to you or anyone else, after 30 years of dying my hair and not really truly knowing what my *natural* color was any more, I decided to let all the years of coloring grow out. My hair is now totally grey and everyone says how pretty it is this way. I love my hair now. It is shiny and natural, and I don't have to spend all that money trying to look pretty anymore. to me, natural is always best. There are no products out there that can accomplish what mother nature gave us, even with all the stuff to make your hair *shine* after you have ruined it with coloring. It just is not the same. and are you also aware that continued use of these products has a direct link to bladder cancer?? yep. sure do! again, this is JMO and that is all. I really do wish you much luck with repairs and recompensation! Happy Holidays.
