I have a glasstop stove. I burned up a brand new oven glove on it becauuse sm [2008-07-11]
I have no concept of surface is HOT. It stunk up the place and ruined a new set of oven gloves, but it was okay. I am very careful of it now, because a HOT SURFACE light means it is HOT. duh...but it was a brain fart.

Anyone burned out with MTing? sm [2008-06-22]
i i love being at home for the fact i have a 10 y/o and a 6 y/o. but sometimes i find myself being bored sitting here typing. i think of doing other things, medically related. i think it would be so cool to be a surgery tech. the thing is here where i live, i can make about the same as they do working at home. it anyone else feel that way or have made a change? i often think about when my boys get a little bigger, i i would like to do some kind of work where i can make a difference in people

It sounds like you probably would like to see the Harry Potter books burned too [2008-06-03]
People like you are why I have a problem with religous nut cases. The last time I knew God = love. God loves all his children no matter what. You are just filled with judgement and self-righteousness. I believe that if someone is being physically abused of course remove them. If they are living the ways their religion believes and it is not hurting anyone leave them alone. So what if they wear funny clothes and their hair looks funny to outsiders. What gives one religion the right to dictate how another lives. Yes I know polygamy is illegal, children marrying and having sex with adults is disgusting in my opinion, but we should try and understand each other. I heard a quote one time that said Don. We are not The Creator and we should not be judging people. Let the courts handle it when they've got something legitimate and solid to work with.

Reminds me a lot of MTing when you get a new job [2008-05-09]
They make promises; you totally believe them (not you, probably more me), and then you find out they count lines strangely and you don that's all I expect anymore, used to be week long cruises in the good old days of MTing. Remember then? Good luck to everyone on the stimulus, hope you get it soon! MTmom.

I had multiple ones burned off 10 years ago.... [2007-08-12]
I had a dermatologist burn off about 30 in the neck-clavicular area about 10 years ago. Those have not returned but new ones have in same area. My advice is to NOT CUT THEM OFF YOURSELF!! My child has a big one, sent to my plastic surgery friend to take it off.

If you have trouble asking for what you want, why not just send a resume and wait for them to contact you? It doesn If not that job, what about going back to nurses Good luck in whatever you decide.

You are playing with fire and someone is going to get burned. sm [2007-02-15]
Infedility by any means is not moral and it is not right. Your husband has every right to be upset, as would I if my husband were doing the same. I'm not condemning you, I'm saying what I would tell anyone. In fact, my best friend brought a guy to the movies with us the other night and she is MARRIED. Needless to say, I was very upset and called her after the movie and told her I didn't think that was very cool. I bet you 99% of the responders to this post will agree that what you are doing is not right. It's just exciting and fun right now and not at all worth it in the end. If your husband finds out he may never respect or trust you ever again. Also, what helps me if I ever, ever get an inkling to stray (which has happened once in our 10-year marriage), is to think about ALL my husband has been through with me and put up and has done for me (which is A LOT), and eventually the other guy just doesn't seem that appealing anymore. It actually made me cry when I began thinking of all my husband has done for me and my child (I was married once before we met). Anyways, you have to stop it. Leading a double life weighs very heavy on your conscience. It's no fun. Not good for your health. Oh, one more thing! Why is he single, if he is? He's probably a jerk. He ditched you once, right? If he's willing to hang on to you even though he knows you are married? He's not worth it, girl.

Well, 10 years+ MTing, so kind of new...I see what you are saying about putting in a few sm [2006-11-11]
hours, etc. Can I be honest? I like working on holidays. I really do. BUT, that was not my point. My point was that I don't like other MTs telling me that I SHOULD work that day. And that is my obligation. Because to that I say, no it isn't!

Hair Ironing. UGH! Remember it well. [2008-12-03]
Had to have a girlfriend iron my hair, plus use the curlers near the roots on the top because there were plenty of times I would get burned, or my hair would get scorched because my girlfriend would yak and forget what she was doing.

I had my own store. Got a following almost became [2008-12-02]
But the fees added up so much that is listing fees, final value fees, that I made about 33% after paypal took their fees too. Then, I shipped all over the world too so I'd be sure to make sure the shipping costs were right or I would get burned there. Then, there became the people who would want their money back even if the listing said only store credit. Customer is always right. So, by the time you count the money I spent on the item to begin with (usually something I thought I would naturally make money on), the fees, the time spent taking pictures, the digital battery, etc. I had a gigantic loss this year. Plus, if you buy on e bay, you should watch your selling, because you just might spend all your profit, which comes out to about 5 to 10 bucks an hour. I loved doing it, don't get me wrong. I met people from all over the world. I sold a dress to the Prime Minister of a University in England, and other interesting people. I still have friends on there who are sellers too. But, I had to close down shop because the fees just got to be too much for me. I would rather sit and type and have free time doing artistic things and having hobbies. Some of my friends who have a following on e bay and have been selling for years range in the 25K a year range, and they have a business license, and charge state tax. Don't forget as well, you have to pay income tax just like any other IC job. Just was not worth it to me. Good luck to you.

Tinea Versicolor? [2008-12-01]
Three months ago I moved during a hot, humid 2-day period using a car w/o AC. I wore a very uncomfortable underwire bra because it was the only clean one that had not been packed up. I developed an irritation under my arms that I attributed to that irritation from the bra and being sweaty. It has itched and burned forall thistime, sometimes getting a little better. Now I I Is this what you think it is and is there some over-the-counter treatment (tea tree oil, Selsun shampoo/lotion, etc.) that would help this or should I just go on to the doctor? Thanks for any help or personal experience!

I suppose there are extremes..... sm [2008-10-17]
in anything. I have seen gays marching for gay rights, gays influencing young children through who they are and other behaviors that I consider pushing who they are on others. I'm not saying that Christians don't march for Christian beliefs, etc., but it just seems strange to me that when Christians ask that they be allowed to express their rights, all of a sudden we are shoving our religion down someone else's throat. If a group of Christians wanted to open a public school system funded with taxpayers' money to segregate their children from others who make fun of them for being Christians, you can bet that there would be an outcry like never heard before. Yet, the gay community seems to think they have this right. Where is the equality in that? BTW... Christians' homes AND churches are burned, we are sometimes assaulted for our beliefs, our children are threatened and legislation does discriminate against us, just the same as anyone else.

Gays march for their rights to be involved with their long-time partners [2008-10-17]
health care should a drastic decision be made. It is usually a family member...even though we are the ones who take care of our partners when they are sick or dying. We fight for the right not to be thrown out of a shared house by the partner's parents. We want to honor our partner's wishes when they die as we are the ones who have spent years with them - not the family. These are just a few examples. As far as your comment that we influence young people - that is absurd. All we want is to live our life and as pxmt said, be able to walk down the street without abusive comments, being assaulted, ridiculed, etc. The school system is not segregating gay children - they are making it gay friendly and teaching tolerance. Suicide is very high in gay children because of the parents who teach their children that it is evil and it is okay to bash a gay child. These schools are just trying to save the lives of young children. As far as your comment that Christian's homes and churches are burned, sorry but I cannot recall one incident that I have read or saw on the news. Temples yes. As far as being assaulted for your beliefs, could it be because you stand in front of abortion clinics and gun down the doctors and nurses that come out or go into the clinic? Could it be that you bully the 15 and 16-year-olds who have been raped and want an abortion? Sorry to say this, at least we (gays) are not violent and just want to be left alone.

in the same boat... [2008-10-14]
I am pretty much in the same situation and can relate to what you are going through. My problems with debt started because I decided to quit a job making 45,000/yr to do medical transcription in which I am lucky if I make 20,000/yr. I could not keep up with my own personal bills and instead of confiding in my husband, I put bills on my credit cards and every payperiod swore to myself that my paycheck would increase, but easier said than done since I do VR and the pay stinks. My husband thinks MTing is ridiculous for the pay and hard work we do. I was insisting upon staying with it and had too much pride to let him know I could not pay my own personal bills. When I did finally tell him he was upset that I would put myself in debt, knowing that as a couple, our debts affect each other. I am now seeking help from CCCS, a counseling service that has a very good reputation. Just make sure you pick a reputable, nonprofit agency, and they will put you on the right track back to financial stability. Needless to say, I am going back to the work I used to do and doing MTing on the side. Best of luck to you!

This happened to MY GIRL in 2nd grade . . . sm [2008-10-01]
actually, the girl threatened to stab her with her pencil. My daughter went to the teacher who was an old burned out substitute that day and the teacher told her to sit down and get to work, would not even listen to her. Needless to say I went ballistic. Of course, the girl who was threatening to stab my daugther was a problem child (they always are, who else would do this?). My daughter was moved away from this child and never sat next to her again, because I saw to it that it happened that way. And btw, I personally believe calling the mother would only frustrate you more. Why do you think this child acts this way? You would be only arguring against ignorance and there is no point to frutstrate yourself further. Tell your child to stay away from this child and insist upon their separation in the classroom.

ME TOO! My sister and I both feel the same. SM [2008-09-26]
Not to sound tacky, but theone reason I would like to have someone is for financial security and to maybe have a home of my own. I can I got so tired of the games, the waiting for phone calls, the issue of whether or not to trust after I have been burned so many times by cheaters, ect. I learned a long time ago there is one way not to lose the game. . DON I know that sounds grim, but I have come to value myself and to not settle for something less than what I deserve.

Thanks for being judge and jury on my situation, since you know it so well... [2008-09-17]
a few facts for you: She hardly led a horrible life, she was adoptedby afairly wealthy family and had a great life (this is straight from her, I'm not speculating), she has siblings that she loves very much. For someone such as yourself to judge me as heartless is going a bit too far. She was the one who found me, contacted me one day out of the blue after finding EVERYTHING about me on the internet, even knew when and where I went on vacation to see my family, knew when my father passed away, etc. It was my decision to give her up for adoption and it should be my decision on when and where we meet. She wants info on her birth father, which I have a bit of, but it isn't my place to disrupt his life by giving her this info. I have no problem in having a relationship with her, but things like this need to start slowly, not just jump into the fire and hope not to get burned. You can speculate and create a back story to your own liking, but until you have been in the situation, you wouldn't know a thing about it.

I definitely agree with you there. I cook all meals and we [2008-09-04]
rarely eat out. I am very particular in what I cook and how I cook it. At least food that is eaten early in the day has a better chance of all the calories being burned off. A lot of times as well it will give them that extra boost of energy that they need. We as parents should have taught them how to make correct choices. That part is not the schools problem.

Anyone know other ways of making at-home money sm [2008-09-03]
I have been transcribing for over 12 years - and I do like the profession and I am grateful that it has allowed me to stay home with my children. But I am getting sort of burned out....and want to do something different for a while at home. Have been looking at all sorts of online sites that advertise working from home but I don I know this is an MT site but does anyone do anything other than MTing that has been successful? I am thinking of maybe doing MTing part-time to stay up-to-date with it, and doing something else part-time, or maybe just taking a break from MTing for a while altogether. Any ideas would be appreciated.

School lunches are quite healthy in this day and age... [2008-09-03]
they have a lot of standards they have to be up on. Our school serves at least 3 fruits/veggie options with every meal. They actually serve healthy things like yogurt, side salads, etc. When I was younger, school lunch was terrible, but that's changed. It went from just plain terrible when I was a kid to terrible because they served so much unhealthy pop, chips and all to now where they aren't even allowed to have pop OR chips. The ones who bring their own lunces are the eating the crud now. The weight may have been the tubs of pb eaten with a spoon rather than the actual lunches served, as being a tween you should have burned off even a crappy lunch.

Why do men throw out our stuff and keep theirs? [2008-08-30]
Hubby did it again! I had to work a couple hours this morning and in the meantime, he decided to clean out the linen closet. Things he kept: All his stuff, plus old towels that are good for rags. Things he threw out: My shampoos, my curling irons, make-up, my electric shaver, etc. When I asked where they were, he burned them! My curling irons were brand new! Is he trying to tell me something? This is not the first time hewhim like this, but I never thought hemy good stuff.

A couple ideas. [2008-08-16]
Here's a couple ideas... First, if you have a hobby where you make things that can be fun. Imoney making part. I've made lots of table runners, bags, lap quilts, and other little things here and there for family and freinds. They all say I should go into business but I don't feel I'm that good yet, plus the expense to buy the supplies to make the projects would cut into any profit made. Another way to go which my mom (she got me into quilting) told me about is to purchase a quilting machine. They cost about $6K, but people charge $25/hour to have the quilts quilted (this is for large quilts like queen and king size and anything too big for your sewing machine). One of my freinds did a king size quilt for me and it took her 4 hours. Second idea and this could really pay off is this. If you have a digital camera or scanner there are tons of ideas, most of which I have entertained and am still looking at this (just get caught up MTget into it). Anyway...with the digital camera you can take photos of people possesions for insurance purposes. I read on a website quite awhile ago that some people were looking for someone to take pics of their possesions so they would have a record of them for insurance purposes. Or another idea is if you love to take pics of anything and everything we have been looking at stock photography. If people like the pic and want to buy it you would get royalties. Another idea which I have started doing (not to make money though), but if people have slides or photos they want scanned in for whatever reason. I also have photoshop and have been restoring old worn out photos. I've also been scanning in slides that my DH's grandfather took of my DH and his siblings when they were growing up, and then more slides when they came to Germany to visit us. There are literally over 1000 slides for me to scan. Also they didn't take real good care so am using photoshop to get rid of a lot of spots, lighten/darken, fix colors and the results are fantastic. My husband says I really have a nack for this and has been encouraging me to take some more advanced photoshop classes to look for work using photoshop. I understand they pay quite well depending on the job. It's been a blast seeing my DH's childhood and I'm having a lot of fun organizing the pics. Once they are all scanned in, then I will be creating CD's to give to his siblings (he has 3 siblings), plus his mother. Another idea I was thinking about, which my DH told me I should do is offer services to people to help put their photos and family history into albums for them to pass on to their children. There are lots of grandparents out there who have tons of intersting stories to tell, and am sure lots of wonderful photographs. I thought about putting together some kind of busness where I could record their stories and type it up and somehow match photos with stories. I'm doing that myself. I've been doing genealogy research now for the past 20+ years and am having a blast creating a family history album with stories and photos for myself (even though I don't have any children to pass it on to), but I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who just don't know where to begin. I don't know how much time that would take or what anyone would charge for it, but I think it would be fun. Hope that helps a bit. Sometimes all one needs is a fresh idea (or two). MTing can get tiring. Especially when the hands start cramping up. Everyone keeps saying you have to take frequent breaks, but if I take frequent breaks I don't get my work done and I don't get paid.

Army [2008-08-05]
I know about the Army also, as I worked on an Army base and their rules are much more lax. I also know that it depends on where you are stationed, who you work for, etc. etc. As I have said, IT IS ALL UP TO YOUR SUPERIORS! They have the option of denying your request, just because it looks like the sun isn't shining today, if they want to! And I have seen people get burned and turned down for things that most of us (people with feelings!) would seem a no-brainer! So no, it is NOT the soldier's option! They can request anything they like, doesn't mean it will automatically be approved!

We do! [2008-07-25]
I used to watch Will and Grace until my hubs burned me out on it. I have seen every episode atleast 10 times. I also loved sex and the City but just can't do the reruns. I haven't seen the movie yet either, but really want to! Y&R is what made me do this post. I was actually able to watch it yesterday and am trying to tape it today but my step-son (hence why Old Christine is hilarious to me) is here today and I probably won't get the chance so I went online to read about it. Well, guess what I found...you can watch them ONLINE! I cannot tell you how excited I was to find that. Now if my mom says I missed something good, I can go online a week later and watch the episode or just get a recap. Its wonderful! http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_young_and_the_restless//

I was making candied apples... [2008-07-13]
and I stuck my finger in the pot of the candied syrup to see how it tasted... burned the living daylights out of it!! Needless to say, working was miserable for about a week. My daughter, then 12 or so, said, 'Mom, what were you thinking!!!???' Oh yeah, and we-)

How about putting your hot water bottle/bag in SM [2008-07-11]
the microwave to just get the chill off ot it before you apply it. The house was frigid cold and I wanted to warm up. Keptit in for a little two long and the whole microwave and kitchen smelled of burned rubber for I don TOP THAT, why doncha!

Me and my cooking [2008-07-11]
I have a candy thermometer that has both celsius and fahrenheit. I was making divinity and the recipie said to bring the syrup up to 260 dgrees fahhrenheit. I was looking at the wrong side of the thermometer, and went to 260 degrees Celsius!! Needless to say, the pan was ruined. I compounded the problem by setting the pan out in the hallway on the carpet because it was smoking, and it burned a hole right through the carpet!

former teenage alcohol user [2008-07-01]
I donharsh for your daughter, but have you thought about showing her the results of drinking and/or driving?I drank A LOT in high school, starting around 15 when my mom got sick and continueddaily drinking through graduation and then some. Did my fair shareofdrinking and driving or riding in cars with drivers who drank, thinking that nothing would ever happen. My sister who was 5 years older than me died from drinking and driving when I was 18, and to show me and my teenage cousins the consequences, we went with my uncle to see her car thathad not been cleaned afterthe wreck(nasty, and I still see it to this day which is about 18 years later)...she was in a little 4-door car and fell asleep and drove underneath an 18-wheeler. That sight was burned into my brain and I never forgot what drinking and driving could do, that we weren I did hear of a school that was doing shock presentations to students, arranging to have 10 or so students missing from classes for the day, then the other students were told that they were killed in accidents from drinking. While that is a bit extreme, I really think that shock works best on teenagers as I always thought I knew best and that nothing would ever happen.

I'm with you [2008-06-22]
I too am getting burned out. I've been doing this 9 years. I like working at home. Don't know if I want to go back to working in an office with a bunch of old women all with their office politics, gossiping, dislikes, likes, etc. Plus the cost of working clothes, lunches, b-days, various pot lucks, etc. Here I wake up at 8am (no kids if you can't tell), turn on the computer and work. However I am getting very bored and some days have little motivation. I feel like I'm going to end up MTing until I die in my chair here. What's worse is DH does not work (I think he's going through a mid life crisis), so when I see him out doing yard work and other stuff I'm a little jealous. I want to be quilting and reading, and playing games, and all these other projects but I have to work my tail off to pay the bills. I am getting burnt out though, but what I get paid here, in this town there is nothing that would pay as good. I keep learning new things through the local college and that helps a lot. The college here offers on-line courses for $99, so every once in awhile I will take one if it looks fun (like writing or a computer program). But just wish I had something a little more fun and exciting.

OMG - My apologies. I am sorry....I do have you confused.... [2008-06-03]
I am so so sorry. I DO need to be more careful with my posts. I thought you were the one saying that the children should not be reuinited with their family. I guess I was just stunned that someone thought that way and all I could think of was what if the shoe was on the other foot. How would they like if their child was grabbed up from them without solid evidence and not be told why. From now on I will be more careful and make sure I donreligious family members (some of who believe the Harry Potter books be burned). I love the Harry Potter movies too and it takes me away from reality for a short time. Again - I am truly sorry. I

These are my good ol days [2008-05-11]
First being of course growing up where all I had to worry bout was studying in school and getting good grades. All four grandparents were alive. Grandma working wardrobe. I'm grateful for what I have but it is very depressing to see everything sky rocket. What used to cost me $100 a week for groceries I'm now spending around $200. So while I am grateful for what I do have I sure do miss the good old days.
