Went online to Walmart at 4:30 AM, they had thenew jubilee edition for $10 less than Hasbro direct, ithas a carrying case, curved letter holders, lazy Susan turning board. The only thing I didn I donseedy and I would not enjoy going there in the dark AM, so I did well. I have gotten my two grandsons interested in Scrabble as this is the only part of my brain that works well and itBeat Grammie - better than being glued to the Wii. LL Bean has a great wooden set but it's $99 and would be hard for them to carry around.

I have turned my grandsons onto Scrabble. They are very into Wii and computer, etc. When they come here we have a Scrabble challenge and I cannot believe they want a board game so when I go over there we can continue. There is one at LL Bean for $50 that turns and is wood. One at Hasbro.com which is an anniversary addition for about $39 but plastic. I am just so happy we have this connection and this contest going on, I am searching, but perhaps you know the best place. Of course, I am Grammie so it takes me longer. Keep on playing board games as these kids are addicted to technology!

We play Scrabble each holiday - kinda got a contest going on. We have been through 2 regular games but thought it would be great to have the turntable. I decided to checkEbay 2 weeks ago and one had an hour left on the bid and I won the bid for $19 w/ SH. There was one tile gone but they told meahead of time about that which is n problem really as we had all the tiles from the old game and they fit justfine. Bought an egg timer at the dollar store and looking forward to this year Good for you playing a board game with the grandkids. Teaches them a little spelling subliminally too.

If one buys the WII skateboard game will it work without a balance board? I foolishly asked my grandson to look through some games for Christmas and he chose a WII skate board game, now I am worried that you have to use a balance board which costs $100+, I am confused as I googled it but can't understand if it is necessary. Hate to disappoint but I may have to. Replies appreciated, TIA.

I saw the Phillies win their one and only WS championship. Just one. And the Phillies have been around since 1883. Makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time. I love the Phils even though they've broken my heart more times than I can count. Maybe for that reason I'm trying to pretend that I'm not too excited. They do make a console version but it's horrid. if you have slow PC or laptop I would recomend The Sims Life Stories because The Sims 2 game takes up a lot of memory and requires a fast system, the Life Stories is a lite version and requires you to reach certain goals rather than free play. I do not know what a Bunco party is, no clue. From what I can figure out, someone asked you to pain other peoplestrue friends out there, just a bunch of back-biting b------s in my town. I had someone call me yesterday just to clearly gossip. When I didnbite she kept asking me if I had heard from X, Y or Z and when I didn't have anything negative to say, she sounded disappointed. I refuse to gossip, it's a downgrading, vicious habit that I refuse to get into. I consider myself a professional and refuse to do anything less. Painting toenails would be a total turnoff to me, a kick in the teath really. Then again, I don't know what a Bunco party is, perhaps it's a grooming party. No idea, so can't comment, just can relate to the back-stabbing behavior. It's something in the water around here anyway and I refuse to partake of it.

even though they should be the New Jersey Giants since they play at the Meadowlands. LOL. I am from Northern New Jersey. The Patriots looked lack luster to me. I was waiting for them to just explode but they didn't and glad they didn't. The last touchdown was the clincher but still got nervous when the Pats got the ball back. The best play, I thought, was when Eli almost got sacked and threw that terrific pass to Tyre who made a spectular catch. My heart was pounding. BEST GAME EVER. Been a Giants fan for many, many years. My dad went to high school with Alex Webster, who was a Giants coach at one time. When my parents got married in 1954 a few of the Giants players at that time CRASHED my parents wedding. My mom was not thrilled but my dad and the guy guests were. LOL Gonna watch the parade on TV tomorrow at 11 a.m. Too bad it is supposed to be raining but I am sure they won't care.

You know how hard it is to just spend $25 especially on someone that basically has everything. In the past this had just included the adults in their 40s and 50s. We're all adults, no children, and live in small homes or apartments. I NEED tons of stuff, but have no place to put much of anything, and can't afford to reciprocate with a gift. Same with a couple other siblings. My mom's been impossible to buy gifts for, for probably the last 10 years. I was the first to bow out the year before last. I started the ball rolling because I just plain couldn't afford it anymore, and was too busy working all the time to spend hours on end in a department store. I had a new job, no PTO, and NO money, so I alerted everyone that I wasn't going to play the game that year. Turns out it was a relief to all! And last year, without all the holiday 'getting mauled at the mall' disasters, each of us had quiet, happy, stress-free holidays. So now that we've eliminated the gift-giving aspect of Christmas, I finally can look forward to the season and enjoy it again.

These organizations have ruined American healthcare, and many American lives. HMO's have been a con-game since their inception. 3) The Bailouts: Giving money to companies who can too bad for the rest of you.* Then the Big Three show up in DC to beg for a handout, and fly there in private Lear jets. My answer to them would be, *I too bad for the rest of you.* 4) Apartment managers that won't allow even a single quiet, well-behaved pet, but will rent to people with continually screaming small children, and out-of-control older children and teens. Give me the pets for neighbors, ANY day. 5) Businesses that give an age-discount to absolutely everything that walks, runs or flies, but not to the middle-aged middle-class, who need it the most. Take the ski-industry: Young children ski for next-to-nothing, and sometimes nothing. There is a Teen Discount. There is a Student Discount for college kids. There I'll probably never be old enough - it's a carrot-on-a-stick, always just out of reach.) There are even corporate (UGH) discounts. But for those in my age group, who barely make ends meet but like to go up once a year for a couple days of bliss, there is NOTHING. 6) Travel-lodging deals that are always based on double or quadruple occupancy. What about singles? NOTHING. 7) TV commercials that are about a million decibels louder than the regular shows. Why can't it all be the same volume? Same with online newscasts. THEIR commercials will blow your eardrums out if you aren't quick enough turning down the volume before they start. 8) Surround-sound: Everything is too loud, already! Why do we need it coming at us from 4 directions? Why do people living in tiny apartments feel they need it? I've lost count of how many fights I've had with neighbors over this issue. Same with movies and music concerts. Why do they feel we need to feel the music in our SPLEENS? I went to Universal Amphitheater last week. (Now named something else). There is actually a sign outside warning that the decibel level inside might damage your hearing! (?!?!?!) Why do they need this? (To avoid lawsuits, obviously). If it's so loud you have to post a warning sign outside the entrance, then DUH.... it's TOO LOUD! 9) Banks that charge you a fee to use their ATM. They (I haven't actually been INSIDE a bank in YEARS).... and they want to charge US for using the machines instead of the tellers? Forget it. I won't give those banks my business. 10) The Post Office: Talk about rewarding slow, inept performance! The worse their employees are, the longer they seem to stay there. I'd rather have a root canal than go to a P.O. during the holiday season.

I have a very old Sunbeam egg cooker [2008-11-28]
makes soft, medium, and hard boiled eggs. It also has a point in the lid (where you measure the water for the type of egg you want) and you use this to put a hole in the end of the egg, so this may be true. I love this cooker. Uses no more than a 1/4 cup of water and automatically shuts off when the eggs are done. Never a guessing game. Don't know if they still sell them but I'll be in a world of trouble if this cooker dies. Of all the automatic counter-clutter devices I own, this one is my favorite.

My newest addition is a dauchshound puppy. I got her back in March (or maybe April - can Anyway, she is now 9 months old and all puppy. She is relentless with my other 2 dogs, especially my little Maltese who is 7 years old. Just runs around her, nipping at her tail, and racing away. I know she And she doesn So, when you have had this situation, how do you stop it? How do I get this puppy to understand that she needs to stop this behavior? Other then this annoying habit of hers, she's a wonderful, funny, loving little girl!

My 7-year-old child was invited to a B-day party for a little boy that was also turning 7. Anyway, when it came to opening gifts, he got Wii game toys, the different controlers and games. I did not even know the kid had a Wii game, but it seemed like everyone else did. I bought him a race track and a game of Go Fish. The race track got an I already have that comment and the Go Fish was what the heck. He did not say that but he kinid of looked at it like that and put it back in the bag. I wondered if he even knows what Go Fish is. The only gamesmy child has are board games, card games, those free games you can play on the computer and 1 game that plugs into the TV. It looks like a joystick and it has 3 games in it. These games have helped her in her reading because she has to read directions. She can identify a lot of the ocean fish. I was treated like an outcast at the party anyway. Itried to join in conversations with the other mothers, I would get ignored or very short answers, some would actually walk away. Then one mother actually turned her back to me to talk to another so I would just listen. They were talking about building houses, they have lots of land blah blah blah. They were giving each other advice on what to do with it all. When the conversation turned to how their kids are struggling in this subject or that that is when I got up and left because they toned their conversation down and then shut it off completely when then thought I was listening, so I thought that was my cue just leave so they can vent to one another about it. Itwas moreabout the teachers expecting too much blah blah blah.I have known some of these mothers or their spouses since we were little kids. They really treated me like trash back then. I thought that now that we were in our 30s, have not had much contact with each other since HS until now that our kids are going to school together, it would be like water under the bridge. Guess not. The families were wealthier than we were (just about every family was wealthier than we were back thenlol)but I know theycan Well, actually I don The only thing I did have over them is my kid is not struggling in school. She is making straight As on all her subjects. The only reason I went was because my 7-year-old and the7-year-old boy are really good friends and Ithought thatmaybe me and the other mothercould find something in common.At school, they are in separable so I really wanted dd to go to help him celebrate his special day. I could not help but notice that dd played with him more and the others were playing among themselves. I do worry if that tee I worry that they are going to discriminate against DD because I was a poorlittle nobody back in school and they were popular.I worry that they are going to start refusing to let the little boy play with dd and it will break her heart and hate me. I take baths, I practice clean living, always have, no drugs, alcohol. I don I pay my bills. Everything I own, I got honestly, paid for it myself. Of course, it isn H is not from here, he went to school elsewhere. I used to worry about that too back when we 1st started dating..Him finding out I was an outcast, dork or whatever and hate me. Now I worry that my child is going find out and resent me.

I think there was even astory about surgeons playing them because of how much remote-assisted surgeries arebeing done now.As far as board games here, we just got the game of Life and have been playing it lately -- the kids absolutely love it! They also love Uno, Monopoly, and SkipBo. I told them the best thing about these games is that we can play them even if the lights go out (this was during hurricane season).

I My mom always drug me out an hour before the stores opened. The ads usually come out in Thursday In the past, I Get the paper and makea game plan. Some stores open an hour or 2 later than others, so you may be able to get to both in time for the specials you Wal-Mart generally has a lot of specials, especially in the toys dept. Our Wal-Mart gives you a map when you enter to tell you where each BF special is located in the store. They put some stuff in strange places -- like TVs in the meat dept, computers in dairy, etc. It Ask the Wal-Mart greeter when you enter. Our Wal-Mart is also open 24 hours, as are most, which means no waiting outside. We usually arrive an hour before the sales start so we can be in position for the item. Obviously, the most-sought after items are electronics, so be there early if you Target is 1 of my favorite places because their specials run all weekend, not just until 11 a.m. (I hope it They usually open an hour after Wal-Mart. I usually head there second because even though the specials run all weekend, they do run out of stock. Kohl The cash can be redeemed usually starting the Sunday after Black Friday. Don If there General advise: Wear comfortable shoes. Be polite to others, but don If you got there first, it Make sure you and DH have cell phones so you can communicate if you get separated. In fact, I went to the 6th game of the WS and saw it happened from the last row of a 700-level section at the vet. I went with some guy from my econ class at Temple. I was a freshman and he was not a baseball fan. LOL. In 1980, the parade took place the very next day after the game. Professors told us that they were not cancelling class and that we were expected to show. Right. I lived at 18th and Snyder back then, so I was sitting down in JFK by 9:00 a.m., waiting for the parade to arrive. I had the time of my life. What's really cool is that my youngest son is now a freshman at Temple, and he was told the same thing. Classes are not cancelled, and he is expected to be there. I told him to go to the parade. No one will be in class, and who knows how long he'll have to wait to see this again. Wow, the Phillies win the World Series. I think I feel the earth shifting on its axis!

I have a preteen step-son and his mother buys him anything and everything under the sun. We cut back last year to $300 for him. That didn't buy much at his age. He did get a PS2 though. Although he wanted a Wii and of course he received that at his mother's house. He has a DS from a few years ago. He rarely plays either and now he says this year all he wants for Christmas is a PS3! He has no idea how much money that is or that it comes with 1 game or any of that. I think he might just be dissappointed this year but I don't know what else to do. If he didn't still believe I would be tempted to get him gift cards and do his own shopping to SEE how fast the money goes. $200-300 is a ton of money to a kid but it really doesn't buy much anymore. Besides, for that kind of money, I'd like to get some useful things that will last and not be yet another toy tossed in the basement waiting to go to charity after 3 months of use.

I live a couple hours up the road from Tampa, but my daughter and I have been going down there about 5 times a year for the last 6 years to see them. Started out just going to see other teams play, but fell in love with their heart. I'm a very happy camper right now, no matter what happens. My daughter is actually at the game tonight. he is selfish in a lot of ways. i do EVERYTHING around this house and he knows it and he admits it. but i get tired of it. i've told him several times i feel like a single parent. he's not as active with the kids as i would like him to be. i pretty much put my kids before him because they don't get much attention from him because he's always sleeping. oh, i could just go on and on, but i'm not. and he's not one to really sit down and have a heart to heart with. i've tried to talk with him when things are bugging me and he doesn't say much back to me. he's not a communicator. and he never talks to me if something is bothering him. so i figure, why even try to talk to him and tell him how i feel about stuff. he doesn't open up to me. his whole family is that way. it's really aggravating. even just normal everyday conversation, there just isn't much talking. sometimes i wonder if i couldn've found another who i had more in common with. i met my hubby when i was a teenager and that's the only one i've ever dated. we've been married 14 years and been a couple for 21 years. but we are just so different. i'm much more outgoing and like to do family things, keep in touch with friend, etc, but he'd rather be a hermit and stay home and sleep or just lay around. i don't like wasting my time, because there's not much of it. i like to try to make the most of my time, whether it's visiting with family, playing outside with the kids, or just sitting down with the kids and playing a board game or reading to them. he never does that stuff with them. owell, i'm really sorry i got off on a rant here. sometimes i think i'd be happier a single person. but i'll never leave him. i do love him, but don't feel in love any more and it's just easier staying put. we have a good life (as far as having a nice house with lots of land and not many bills), it's just we don't have much in common. ok, i'm done. sorry for this being long and going off.

My youngest had a game early Saturday morning, ran our errands and then spent a few hours at a festival our town was having (like a mini-fair). We ate, rode rides, played games (he won a live goldfish) and watched the entertainment. Came home, he went to play at a friend's and I relished in the quietness of the house. :) Woke up this morning sneezing, watery eyes, and having to work for the Q so will get a little more motivated for these projects next weekend!

Big problem, girls!I have a stepdaughter that I am so jealous of I cannot see straight most of the time when she is here. The child is 9 years old and has her daddy so wrapped up that when she is here I am just pushed aside completely. He does not see it, thinks I am just overreacting and is even to the point of starting to take her and spend his visitation time somewhere else and not bring her around me. I do not begrudge her getting her daddy If they are watching a movie, he loves on her and holds her while I am pushed over to the recliner by myself, when its time to go to bed, I go to bed alone while he sleeps with her and if I want him in the bed with me, I have to wait until she goes to sleep and then go wake him up and ask him to come to bed with me. We cannot close our door when she is here because she will get upset and start banging on it and crying and he will run right out to her (even if we are in the middle of a conversation), we cannot sit together on the bed and watch TV even if she is in her room by herself because as soon as she knows he is in the room with me she starts hollering for him and he runs to her and then proceeds to crawl up in her bed and watch TV with her.If they are going somewhere it is usually just the two of them and I am not invited because they need to spend some time together. Granted, he does not get her on a regular basis (his fault, not mine) and he wants her to know that he loves her, but why can He wants me to love her and spend time with her and do things with her (especially when there isa football game on he wants to watch, or somewhere he wants to run with the guys for a little while), but then he makes it where I don She calls me She, not my name; she does not acknowledge me when she comes in the door until he forces her to speak to me; after our living together since she was 4 years old she gets very upset and says that I am not her daddyfriend and she tells everybody that. I feel like he enforces that idea when he pushes me aside and he says I am just being ridiculous and selfish by wanting him to spend more time with me when she is here. I don't even ask him to forego time with her, I just want him to make some time for me (maybe give her a bedtime and have grownup time with me after she is asleep even?). Am I just ridiculous as he says, or am I right in feeling the way I do? Help, please...
