Busch Gardens, Williamsburg [2008-05-19]
I I thought the credit union had them; however, not this year. They do have disconuts for Wet-N-Wild in Greensboro, NC, though. I Anyone been there? Thanks........
Summer Gardens will be worth it this year. [2008-04-07]
Went to the grocery store for green peppers and milk yesterday. I just needed two green peppers and milk, that
The produce department is normally really good at our local grocery store but the peppers they had didn Normally they would be 2 peppers for 99 cents or something like that. They wanted 3.00 for 2 peppers! Holy Cow! I passed on the peppers and decided then and there I
I haven One year we lost an entire row (20 feet long row) of carrots, half a row of onions, and most of our corn to critters in one night.
Going small and compact this time. Barrel gardens. Keep the critters out and most of the weeds too. Carrots, cukes, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and squash.
What's going in your garden?
Were there Herb gardens to tend to in jail? LOL. nm [2008-01-24]

If I'm following this right, you'll be in PA. (Sorry, it's been a long day!) If you're into flowers and such, I recommend Longwood Gardens, and possible Winterthur. They are somewhere around 30-40 miles from Philadelphia, I believe.
Boat show in Urbanna on Sat. and Busch Gardens on Sunday - nm [2007-08-03]

Oh yes... it is ...sm [2008-06-18]
Things are pretty bad now but I think they will probably get worse. I mean take for instance the floods that have ruined between 1-3 million acres of corn and such in the midwest. I seen that on the news this evening. That means food will sky rocket. Not only corn products but wheat and others. Lou Dobbs was saying you know the corn needed for feed to feed animals will be so high the prices will make the price of meat go up in the supermarkets. Things are going to be really bad I think. I am for the first time ever actually freezing and putting up vegetables from gardens. I think it is the only smart thing to do. I am also stockpiling any sale items all I can.

I may try a veggie garden this year too. [2008-04-07]
in the past i have not had time to keep up with one but i think i will this year while working at home for MQ. maybe you have tried everything for your garden eaters, don't know but I have heard you can sprinkle black pepper all over the garden and it will keep a lot of animals out bc they do not like the smell. you have to reapply with rain but it might be worth a try.
i normally have flowers galore! but i may do some veggies this year as you said they are getting SO expensive in the stores. i have had great luck with barrel gardens in the past and they look really nice on a patio.
North Carolina [2008-03-13]
I am from North Carolina. I would make sure I visited the Outer Banks and Kitty Hawk. If it was the right time of the year, I would see The Lost Colony. I just love Hatteras and the lighthouse. North Carolina has some very interesting and beautiful places to see. Also, the Biltmore House in Asheville is very nice, and has beautiful gardens. North Carolina is a wonderful state. Oh, I almost forgot -- the beautiful mountains -- Cherokee, Maggie Valley. Too much to mention.
Black Hills of SD [2008-03-11]
There are dozens of interesting things there, from Mt. Rushmore, Reptile Gardens, lots of caves and beautiful scenery, especially Spearfish Canyon. Lots of cabins to rent. And Rapid City has a great mall!
My yard is a giant puddle. [2008-02-13]
It squishes like a wet carpet when you walk on it. I can If those stoooopid squirrels will stop digging up my bulbs, the gardens are going to look great this year.
in the last few years, I've stayed at Flamingo, great location, in the heart sm [2007-12-06]
of the strip, right across from Ceasars Palace. Rooms are very, very nice and reasonably priced. Also stayed at Stratosphere but itcondo/extended stay hotel which had a kitchen, etc. was a block off the strip - unfortunately have to stay at least 6 days but it was nice because there were no slot machines, very family oriented, could walk to Aladdin. Anyway I book all my travel thru Expedia and the package deals are the best. I went for 3 full days, air fare from Fla, hotel (Flamingo) and rental car for $250 so I really suggest looking online. The hotels give out coupons to half price magic shows etc. They are ok but what's great w/Vegas is that there are a lot of freebie shows and inexpensive places:
1. Red Rock Canyon - $5 per car, 13 mile scenic drive. It's 15 mins west of the strip.
2. Bellagio water show, every 15 mins starting at 8 pm, free.
3. Volcano eruption at Mirage, every 30 mins starting at 8, free.
4. Treasure Island, pirate show, every hour or so, starting at 7, free.
5. Sigfried/Roy Secret Gardens, $15 per person, up close to their beautiful tigers.
6. Top of Stratosphere, $8, see Vegas at night, also at top is roller coaster.
7. MGM, at 10 am let lions out to room in clear cage while you gamble nearby, free.
8. Fremont Street. Old Vegas, downtown, 4 blocks long, closed off to traffic (Cris Angel sometimes performs on the street). The most amazing light show done to music, every hour starting at 8, free.
9. Flamingo. They have flamingos and penguins outside near valet parking, free.
10. New York/New York. Roller coaster inside/out $8 to ride. Look around inside if never been to NY.
11. Paris. Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, $15.
12. Mandalay Bay, shark reef, $18 per person.
13. Luxor, pyramid shape casino, go in and look around.
14. The Wynn. Most expensive to build, $4 billion, absolutely gorgeous inside.
Places to eat - I avoid eating inside the casinos as I canFashion Mall which is 2 stories, top floor has about 20-25 places to eat, very inexpensive.
Renting a car is very inexpensive compared to trying to walk everywhere or take a taxi or the monorail which is broken half the time. Getting around Vegas in a car is very easy, of course that's my opinion.
Hope this helps.
Hey my hubby and I took a trip [2007-10-17]
to Williamsburg Virginia long time ago and went through Colonial Williamsburg, took a dinner cruise around the Navy ships in Norfolk, spent some time on Virginia Beach, went to a beautiful plantation! We have tons of pics but I have no idea where I put them all....geez I think that was like 20 years ago!
A lot of it could do with all the [2007-10-01]
people who let their cats roam free. Are they pets or are they roaming wildlife? I understand that cats like to be outdoors and are not easy to contain, but that doesn't mean they should be roaming all over the neighborhood, crossing streets, scaring drivers, hunting at feeders, depositing their feces in gardens, attacking indoor cats looking out the window and ripping the screen out in the process ...
Protect your cats and your neighbor's property by keeping them on your own property. I make every attempt to contain my dogs or go after them if they escape because I know people don't appreciate dogs running free either.
And if you assume dogs are more dangerous than cats, it's true I have been threatened by strange dogs, but the only strange animal to ever sink its teeth and claws into me was a cat, who came onto my property and demanded petting. Trying to end the petting session resulted in a cat wrapping itself around my leg, claws and teeth firmly embedded. Yow.
I later told the owner, who lived right across the street, and she informed me she did allow her cat out, but he never left her front steps. ?? Um, shall we match up the teeth marks?

Atlantic Avenue has GREAT restaurants... [2007-07-19]
Also Park Slope - 7th Avenue and Flatbush - going towards Prospect Park - take a right and you Prospect Park area also has the Brooklyn Museum and Japanese Gardens - both WONDERFUL PLACES to visit. Enjoy! NY is my home but I haven't lived there in over 30 years....
that's OK. keep talking. [2007-07-19]
She really has her heart set on Pratt so spending 4 days in Brooklyn to learn her way around a little. She is a thrift store junkie so we will be exploring Park Slope and Williamsburg anyway. Juniors sounds like a definite. Thank you so much. So much to choose from, we never know where to begin, but we are both adventurous eaters and willing to try anything. We will both have a big huge fattening piece of cheesecake for you! Brooklyn gardens has been on my list for years so this is the year for that also.
Sister! Except I tend to not even [2007-06-15]
start what I figure I won't finish, LOL. But sleep is one of my (only) 3 hobbies.
I just want to garden and walk my puppies and watch TV and sleep.
Is there any money in putting in gardens for other people when I don't even have a degree in horticulture? Sigh.
Okay and a Big Thank You to MT Stars!!! [2007-04-20]
Hi, Ms. Hayseed - Thank you for checking up. I actually had some pretty scary pain. I Turns out it is nerves trying to heal up and regroup. Of course, I'm really headstrong and tried to do too much.
But, I want to tell you a wonderful story and a thank you to MTStars as well. Because of my original post, I met a lovely lady on this website. We are about the same age and going through the samebattle with breast cancer. The similarities are uncanny. We were diagnosed at the same time and she is going through this alone on the west coast and I am mostly on my own on the east coast. My boyfriend is gone 20 days a month. It turns out we have so much in common and have become a lifeline for each other. We also love our flower gardens and have our 3 dogs to keep us company!! Today is her surgery so please pray for her too. Sheandboyfriend with me, so she needs our thoughts and prayers.
So, I want to thank you and everyone at MTStars for your thoughtfulness and prayers. What a godsend you have been.
Siberian huskies have a life expectancy of 12-15 years. [2007-02-04]
One of my Siberians did die of a brain tumor recently at age 7. I do use Frontline here in NC. I am more suspicious of chemicals to treat lawns and gardens, however.
