I know I don't drink enough water...sm [2008-11-14]
I also have interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder inflammation) so I should definitely be drinking more water than I do. When I drink any carbonated drink, my bladder hurts the next day. I had a cystoscopy in September to diagnose this, and my bladder was all red and inflamed with little red pinpoint bleeding in it. When I do pee tests I have chronic white blood cells from the inflammation. So yes I would say I need to drink lots of water.

100% Columbian was so bitter, couldn't drink it! [2008-10-23]
Now I'm going to buy a bottle of water. Maybe it's our water.

drink tonic water...it has the quinine it it. [2008-10-21]
Cheaper than a prescription drug. Taste like crap but it works.

Sounds like you need another triple shot coffee drink [2008-09-10]
I thought you were going to tell me your kids told you something great about yourself. Loved Lolabug's response (at least your not in denial) HA HA HA. I read this and thought...wow...now there's someone who knows herself. HA HA. The only thing that I am best at doing is keeping my mouth shut when DH is yelling at me for something I didn't do.

Do you have dirty dishes or excess amount [2008-06-10]
of trash that needs to be taken out?

Oh honey...go take a pill and have a stiff drink too... [2008-06-10]
some kids are just plain bratty and mean, bios and steps, no matter what the age. Many kids know how to manipulate the situation to their advantage, especially kids from divorce. Some of us are adult enough to see through it and make others aware. Nothing wrong with kids coming first, however, parents need to know when to reign little Tommy or Susie in and stop catering to them all the time.

Don't drink coffee, but lots of tea, but [2008-05-20]
am quitting the tea. Thank you kindly

Fixing a flat (soft drink, that is)....... (sm) [2008-05-13]
I do this one all the time: Ever leave half a Coke in the fridge, only to come back later and it's FLAT? I simply open up a new one and add some in with the flat stuff, and the result is actually a smoother, yet still carbonated soft drink. And then you haven't wasted half a can.

nonalcoholic drink ideas [2008-05-09]
i love iced mocha but with them being so expensive these days (and me working at home) i took a shot at my own recipe and i must say it turned out pretty good. you have to play around with how sweet, chocolately, etc you want it but basically here's how it goes: i freeze my leftover coffee in ice cube trays and then store them in a plastic baggie. you could brew fresh and do the same. add the coffee cubes with milk, sugar, and hershey's chocolate syrup to the blender. blend away until you get the consistency that you want. i'm sure it would be better if you added cream instead of milk but i make do with what i have. add whip cream and chocolate syrup on top and its pretty dang close to those you buy for $4-5 a pop. :) also, amaretto flavoring (usually found in the coffee aisle and nonalcoholic) is a good addition to regular warm coffee or to icecream and milk in the blender for an amaretto milk shake. its really yummy and a nice change. also some wineries (and grocery stores but wineries let you taste) sell bottles of sparkling grape juice or cider. some even come flavored with raspberries and have a pink blush to them. mix that with orange juice for a fake mimosa (sp?). you can also buy margarita mix without the alcohol and blend it up with ice and a little water.

Does either one drink in excess? [2008-01-29]
If so go with the other. lol

I am getting a lot of fever blisters on my lip lately and am wondering what triggers them. I drink [2008-01-19]
a lot of sugar substitute drinks and am wondering if this could be doing this. Anyone ever figure out anything like this as far as triggers.

Or you can drink alcohol at home : ) [2008-01-01]

Thanks...and I drink almost never...I occasionally buy (sm) [2007-12-31]
wine coolers or something and leave them in the fridge thinking they will last me a couple of months and every time I go to look for one they are all gone (even though he claims not to even like them).

My favorite hot Starbucks drink is... [2007-12-17]
a grande soy pumpkin spice latte with no whip cream. I have acquired a taste for coffee though, so I can Their frozen frappacino things don I say try their smallest size (a tall) and see what you think of the hot lattes. The talls only have 1 shot of espresso and the mediums (grande) have 2 shots. My favorite coffee drinks are the frozen coffees at Baskin Robbins. You can get whatever kind of ice cream you want mixed with their coffee mix - to die for. I only let myself get 1 or 2 a year though because they are very fattening and expensive. Ice Rages are also delicious cold coffee drinks, and you can get them almost anywhere. The cookies and cream flavordoesnmmmm, now I need to go and have a cup of coffee! Just an fyi in case you didn That's what I read in a magazine anyway, so a latte (with just 1 shot of espresso) is mostly milk with just a little bit of coffee.

Try both *ROFL* - drink away *chuckles*... [2007-11-08]
today is my day off, think I

You better believe it was! I would say better than the drink!!! [2007-09-12]
GOOD FOR YOU!

Try some herb teas and seltzer with lemon or lime to drink. Veggies & hummus [2007-09-04]

Totally agree! Lots of people under 21 drink anyway [2007-08-22]
so what is the point???? If they were to set a legal age, I think it should be 18.

I was one of the ones who was able to drink at age 18 back in the 1970s [2007-08-21]
I really don't have a problem with it, at all, but maybe for the 18-21 year old crowd, there should be a license, the same for driving. In fact, link the two together. Take a written test to get a tag to the driver's license that will allow the young person to purchase alcohol. If there are any infractions such as drunk in public, for instance, not only is the drinking privilege revoked, but so, too, the drivers license. Barring that, as another posted stated, I say raise minimum military service age to 21.

Oh please, some people can drink responsibly [2007-08-21]
and it's nice to have a glass of wine socially here and there. This is not about that.

Of course! Just don't eat or drink while you're reading [2007-08-04]

My drink on break [2007-07-12]
I think today at the mall I will order something to drink that I hate instead of getting what I like. That way I can complain. Same theory as continuing to read whatone considersimmature andboring in lieu of just going on and developing your own constructive topics that you like.

Drink plenty of water... [2007-06-07]
I try to start my day with a pitcher of ice water on desk, like a 2-liter bottle and try to drink that during my shift, which really helps. Hubby and I went on program with Dr. and took Adipex and B12/B complex and followed the attached diet. We were on 1500 cal/day and he lost 65 and I lost 35. We quit taking the adipex but stayed with the diet. I lost 30 on this same diet several years ago too. It is well rounded. Somewhere I have an 1800 cal if you are interested. You don't count calories, it is already figured out for you. Daily meal plan gives you a break down of what to eat in a day (1 bread, 1 fruit, etc)and then the individual breakdown (breads, meat, etc.) lets you know what these include. (i.e. 1 bread - 1 slice of bread, 1 fruit 1 small apple or 1/2 cup canned fruit). No expense of buying diet products and you can eat regular food with your family. Funny. We used to eat 2 center cut chops a piece and with this we would split 1! There are free foods too so you could pile up a big salad for lunch and save other stuff for dinner. We did not quit drinking sodas, just switched to diet cokes 0 calories as opposed to 140 or so per drink. Good luck. http://www.gatepharma.com/Adipex-P/Diet_Index.html

Oh for crying out loud! Drink some warm milk and [2007-05-11]

My aunt is elderly but her husband used to drink [2007-04-25]
This was the love of her life and they had a child together. They both worked, lived with her mother to help her out on bills after her husband died and everything except his drinking went ok. After finding him in ditches, getting DUIs, passing out and the like, nothing worked. After probably 20 something years my aunt divorced him because she knew he probably would kill himself, kill someone else or something horrible. It wasn’t that she didn’t love him but just could not live like that. That was over 40-50 years ago. She still speaks of him fondly (he died in another state in a ditch but had her phone number in his pocket) but I am sure she thought she always made the right decision. Myself, I just would not want to go through that, too much else to keep me busy. Thank goodness no children for you- would be really hard to subject a child to that.

Just wondering if anybody wants [2008-12-03]
to e-mail each other and get a support group started here. I also want to quit but am so afraid as I have support but not REAL support. Everyone I know is a nonsmoker or a former smoker. The former smokers (who are the worst) expects me to just put the cigarette down and that I should have no problem with quitting. It just takes guts and nerve. No...you guys quit many, many years ago...I am scared, I have no support, I don't drink or take drugs to make up that vice I have. I don't knit or crochet to keep my hands busy, I enjoy my cigarette after my dinner and with coffee in the morning. Without the cigarette, the other enjoyments are nothing. So what do I do?? How bout we start a support group for us? E-mail me so we can get things started if you would like.

If the store is still open.... [2008-11-26]
If you have a big platter or can get a throw-away one, make a nice cheese and cracker platter and put a bowl of grapes in the middle, that way youScoops with salsa. Just happen to have them in your trunk. Hurry up, it's getting late, maybe the drug store is open or a 711.

Yes. My son's second wife never [2008-11-25]
cooked. It was always McD's, Taco Bell, Pizza, etc. She never cleaned either. All she knew how to do was spend the bill money. (She didn't work, BTW). Now my grandson is on a diet at 15 yo, 195 pounds.Thank heavens, my son woke up and got rid of her. My mom worked every day and when she came home, made supper and it was always on the table by 5-5:30. If my father was on the 2nd shift, she'd make him a hot meal, put it in a square metal container and I would bicycle it to his work. When I was old enough to use the stove, I would make supper once or twice a night. In the summer, I would clean the house so she would have less to do. I worked 2 jobs most of my life, but always had time to take my boys to their baseball practice, wrestling practice, and when old enough, to their PT joband pick them up at 10-11:00 when they would get off, went to open house every year to see how they were doing, etc. I also made sure their homework was done (not that boys really bring homework home in those days LOL), had a meal on the table for them every night, never had snacks like chips or pretzels in the house. The only thing they had to drink was water or milk. No soda. BTW, my husband during this time was away from home all week, so it was all left to me. The parents today are too pressured, as are the kids. Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore. They are 7 going on 70. I think it's time they get back to being normal kids. They need breathing room. I don't know who ever decided that the kids had to be in every sport, every club, every volunteer activity the school has, but it's crazy. Not all kids fit that mold and they shouldn't have to. Plus their grades are expected to be A's and B's, nothing less. Perfection is the norm and no one is perfect. What's wrong with this picture? I'll jump down from my soapbox now.

My butternut squash sm [2008-11-24]
After the squash is peeled and cut in squares, I put them in a glass baking dish, add about a half stick of butter (I use a lot of butter on Thanksgiving), dot the squash well, according to size of the dish of squash (you may need more) and add a cup of apple juice (add more if larger dish of squash) and cover the dish with foil until soft, I also add some cinnamon and brown sugar, however, I now have someone who hates cinnamon, so I have to adjust the recipe to please all. You can also cook them the same as you do your potatoes and mash them, add butter and seasoning, but they are a bit watery and my family prefers them baked with the apple juice and the little spice I mentioned. I use brown sugar, cinnamon and butter in some of my vegetables such as the squash and carrots (I call them candied carrots) but as the family grows, you have to please all and that sometimes means changing up the things you add. I have one guest now who canon Turkey Day.Happy Thanksgiving!

Always thirsty [2008-11-15]
I drink water all day long and still usually feel thirsty. I have very dry skin too. It just feels like the water evaporates right out or something. I'm sure there might be an underlying issue. (I haven't been to the doctor in several years but really can't afford it right now.) I have had abnormal thirst for a few years now. Anyone else have this problem?

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water? [2008-11-14]
Water or Coke?Could not believe this..... Very interestingWATER#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.(Likely applies to half the world population.)#2. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk ofcolon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breastcancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to developbladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of wateryou should drink every day?COKE#1. In many states the highway patrol carriestwo gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood fromthe highway after a car accident.#2. The distributors of Coke have been using it to cleanengines of the trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

Be fair sm [2008-11-14]
I learned in journalism class that a reporter must be fair. So would you say the same for Pepsi? Just kidding - will have to look further into this. Water is very good for you. Donconsumption per day.Now if I could only drink the tea without sugar - that would be healthy. Try honey but kind of messy, usually give up on it, always in a hurry.

Please...I need someone to talk to...sm [2008-11-13]
Okay, its pity party time. I may need to get a professionalfree therapy. I am feeling really, really guilty about not seeing my dad as much as I should. So, heredad just up and leaves sort of way. He got a job in another city about 5 hours away. I remember we were all really excited about it as it was a really good career move for him. Mom didnagreement was that he would come home on the weekends and see us (right). So this turned into seeing him every month, to every couple of months, to about twice a year (thanksgiving and Christmas). Him and mom are still married (don't know how she does it) but I feel such resentment toward him that it is hard for me to go see him. We only live about 15 minutes away from my parents and are in their town a lot to see my husband's family. However, I choose not to go see my father because it is awkward and weird and it stresses me out to the max. I get to see mom about 3 times a week as we work together (both as transcriptionists) at our local hospital. I love spending time with her, but not with my dad around. I know I'm hurting his feelings when I don't see him but on his birthday, father's day, holidays, etc. He doesn't drink THAT much anymore, a beer or two a day (we think), but it still bothers the heck out of me when I see him drinking. Although it is better than mom and I trying to get him to bed while he is falling down drunk or driving away, getting a DUII, etc. I would never tell him how I feel because I love him and wouldn't hurt him like that. He isn't very healthy (hep C, high BP, neuropathy, etc) and I don't think he'll be around for that much longer. NEway..getting off track...I just need some advice and/or to hear someone else's stories about something like this. I don't know what to do and it is really getting to me. It does feel better to be able to talk to someone about it though (husband doesn't understand and talking to mom about it just makes her feel bad). Thanks ladies for all of your support!!!

Hang in there and talk to others. [2008-11-13]
Donalcoholic, IGee, Dad I wish you wouldn Confronting sometimes depresses them into drinking. I was fortunate, my dad went to some retreats and quit cold turkey and my kids never knew it, in fact, they hate me to ever mention it, as they idolize him. So he died in my arms at 81, told him he was a good man and I am not sorry. My bros. hated him and I feel sorry for them. I feel peace. He has to think about it but dongot it, I think itGee, gotta go, Dad, gotta get these kiddos home. Perhaps he'll get the message, I hope so! Only he can save himself, not you.

I was always taught the same sm [2008-11-11]
It is the thought that counts but I just could not justify that last Christmas. My MIL (who I get along with great) collects a particular item (she has well over 100) and gives me and my SIL one every Christmas. At Thanksgiving I politely told her I just didn't have the room for anymore. I also told my SIL that if given the chance please tell her mother I don't want another one. She just laughed and said I don't think that is what she is going to get you. Even SIL agrees her mother's collection is way out of hand. When I opened my gift from her it was of course this particular item I did not want. Her exact words were I know you said you didn I did thank her but I assure you it was not the most sincere thank you. I think this year for Christmas I will give her a bottle of wine and say I know you don LOL!

Thanks for the 90210 information [2008-11-05]
I wonder if it's somewhere online. I'll have to check. He's my screensaver (lots of pics). I even got myself a tour T-shirt. Even at my age. I figure you only live once. I don't drink or smoke so I have to have some obsessions. LOL

I'm 4' 11" and our local Captain D's has taken to [2008-11-04]
dispenser nailed to the wall above the drink counter. I can't ever reach it. It's a minor inconvienece for me but what about people in a wheelchair?? I refuse to patronize that particular restaraunt and have written a complaint to the company but of course nobody cares.

Still more... [2008-11-03]
Why do new socks come in a ziploc package??? *someone mentioned that a while back but I just noticed it today Why did the waittress come by and ask us this morning if we were going to want more to drink when our drinks were nearly empty and we were just half way through the our plate of food??? ...well duh!! ...and then why did she ask dh a few minutes later if he was going to be needing his fork when he had finished his first plate of food, laid it on his napkin and was getting up to go get some fruit at the food bar??? *guess they didn't want us to eat more than one plate. LOL ....and why tonight after church when we stopped at Dairy Queen and I order a chicken strip basket and asked for some Sweet and Sour sauce did the girl ask me if I didn't want my gravy??? What does that have to do with sweet and sour sauce. LOL

You can't see this in the video but....sm [2008-11-01]
my hubby yawned during the ceremony. I didnbit into it but one of his groomsmen saw his jaws tighten and could tell what was happening. He did have a bachelor party that got a little wild, but my DH doesn't drink so it was not like he was out partying all night long. It has been over 20 years and I still tease him about it.

Sometimes you won't lose much 1 week but BAM sm [2008-10-31]
you lose a bunch the next week; sometimes it is water-weight related, other times related to your period or hormones. Some weeks I didn't lose anything, only to have a 4 lb loss the next time! Just be sure to start being active (even if it is only walking to the end of your block) and drink your water!

My daughter has a Russian Tortoise [2008-10-31]
We think it's a she, but her name is Kaos. My daughter's had her for about 5 years. She's not very big and lives in an aquariam. She's a land tortoise so no water except to drink. She eats dark green veggies and fruit. They live to be 75 years old so after we're all gone, she'll still be kicking. LOL.

I did WW for about 2.5 yrs and lost 72 lbs! sm [2008-10-29]
It works but you need to stick with it. Don it is also not a diet but a lifestyle change. Do try to find some fruit/veg that you enjoy; the fiber definitely helps you feel full and lose. Low sodium V8 is a good 1 pt or 0 pt option to get in 1-2 servings of veg daily. Eat a piece of fruit for your snack. I found that I really began enjoying fruit-veg after a while. Get active, drink water and give it a chance - WW does work well and nothing is off limits. Gee, I think I should rejoin! Good luck.

I have no problem with it [2008-10-26]
I eat candy and I drink soda and I use birth control (although, not nearly enough as I am pregnant right now), but if a store chooses not to sell these things, I can always go somewhere else to spend my money. We don't force grocery stores to carry anything specific--why should a drug store be any different. There will always be someone willing to take your money!

can milk be frozen? [2008-10-24]

I did talk to a lawyer too before I dropped - sm [2008-10-24]
the bomb on my DH as I wanted to know where I stood. I live in a state where they do an equitable disbursement of the marital goods, assets, etc. I would have a 40% stake in the house, entitled to about $100K in his 401K (1/2 of its growth since we married), 1/2 of assets we purchased together. Though a judge would deem what it fair, either way I would walk away debt-free though I would not have a home if we sold everything. He told me in one of his pissy moments that if we lose the house (which there is no danger of) he is moving in with his parents with the kids and I am on my own. What he does not realize that no judge would give him custody (has depression , threatened suicide, etc) and the kids would want to be with me. He has a temper too that gets the better of him too much and he is an alcoholic as well. So if a judge gave him custody I would be totally shocked. I am relatively healthy though overweight by 70 pounds, drink a glass of wine 5 days a week maybe (that is it--he drinks 9-12 beers a day --every day--- though he has cut down to 9 since the 13th for which I am happy for though I'd rather he quit altogether---But good thing to find out where you would stand in a divorce and what you would need to do in terms of custody if push came to shove.

I actually got this idea from a friend. She said s/i [2008-10-23]
this year her family was fighting and she said she was just going to make dinner, tell them what day and time and whoever shows up shows up. I just did the same, I emailed my brother and my mom and told them the deal. If they don't like it they can stay home and I will invite my aunt. If she doesn't like it I will invite my grandma. I will feed somebody!! LOL I always thought it was more fun to enjoy the things you can't really do any other time of the year, like drink coco or eggnog by the fireplace or toast marshmallows inside!

leg cramps [2008-10-21]
Are you making sure you are very well hydrated? Drink lots and lots of water during the day. Also I'm not so sure about the potassium connection. I think there might be something to that. Try eating more bananas and drinking OJ.

I'm confused on whether or not [2008-10-21]
you have the 8 o I thought you said you did but maybe you were talking about in the past. If you do, be sure and buy whole bean and grind it, then you won If you don Unfortunately I can't drink it because it is high in acid and bothers my stomach but that's another story... Maybe the filters are the answer. Another thing to consider is your coffee cup. I bought a nifty plastic Starbucks mug on clearance. It has a nonslip handle which I thought would be great for me in the morning. However, Ihave noticed that coffee tastes much better in a regular ceramic mug. I save the plastic mug for hot chocolate. Good luck on your quest.
