Attention: Anon....website for stepmoms [2008-06-14]
Anon, I read your post about your stepson. I just wanted to let you know that I belong to a wonderful website that allows stepmoms to talk about their issues, give advice, share positives thoughts, vent, etc. I have learned a lot from the wonderful ladies on there. Here is the website if your are interested. www.stepsforstepmothers.com

Thanks! Excellent website! Unfortunately, I've [2008-06-02]
plastic sheet (my cat PREFERS plastic, so it attracts her), and the hamster bedding. Considering the amount of litter I go through in a week, the hamster bedding may be a bit pricey, but at this point anything is worth a try. One thing I should point out is that she used to poo in the box, and pee on the floor. Recently she's begun to do the opposite. Things I've done include: - Vet: Blood & urine done, no evidence of infection or kidney problems. - Crate training. (Effective for a while, but not forever. She's on her 4th crating session right now.) - I'm anal about the litter boxes - scoop them out (I have FOUR!) every time I walk past & see something in them. - Currently using Feliway Comfort Zone, don't see any improvement. - If I stand there and watch her, I can say in your box, and she'll use it. The minute I leave the room, though, or in the middle of the night, then she's back to messing on the floor at night. She is currently being crated all night so that I don't have to spend the first hour of every morning cleanin up after her. - Re: Stress, it's probably a factor. She's a naturally tense & wary cat. (Adopted from a rescue, which she ended up in because of her litter problem. Original owner was going to euthanize her at the age of 1 year, & vet called rescue.) - I don't use ammonia-containing cleansers on the floor (ammonia encourages repeat offenses), but do use vinegar alternating with Nature's Miracle For Cats. - Have tried tossing out older cat boxes and replacing with brand-new ones. Have also tried using a VERY big box for more elbow room, but she liked that the least. - Have been using rewards when I see her even set foot in the box. It works, but only when I'm there watching. She's a wiley little devil. Another thing I haven't tried yet (because of the expense, and also because the Feliway has proven to be a bust) is something like Prozac. Has anyone out there tried an SSRI for their floor-peeing cat? Did you find it effective?

they have a date list on the IRS website [2008-05-23]
If you go over to http://www.irs.gov you can check on when you should get your money. They also have a spot somewhere on there where you can check to see how much you should be getting. You should get your check based on the last two numbers of the main social security number, the bigger the number, the later your check will come.

Go to the IRS website [2008-05-08]
www.irs.gov, click on rebate info, then click on where's my stimulus payment. It will tell you exactly when you will get it and how much. All you need is your SS#, filing status and number of people claimed on your taxes.

The Burning Man website is even more interesting - sm [2007-08-29]
reading. Ihow to survive Burning Man, (lots of which is how to camp in a hostile desert climate & environment, and still leave no trace when you leave, etc.) My friends are there right now.... can't wait to hear how it was once they get back (and of course to read about it on the B.Man website. (Type in burning man on Google, and look for their official website.) Not being that big a fan of camping or the desert, I myself am looking forward to San Franciscomini Burning Man event, the Decompression festival held in the city on Indiana St. in October. A nice taste of all the fun, fire, music, art cars and general craziness, without the sand or the long drive! ;)

hot flashes [2008-06-10]
I am going through menopause too (just turned 50) and the hot flashes were driving me nuts - about every half hour or so and wasn't sleeping. I did some research on the 'Net because I can't take HRT and found a lot of good things being said about Estroven. About 2 months ago I started taking Estroven Maximum Strength and now I only get about 1 hot flash a day!! Yippee! They also came out with Estroven PM which I tried and I slept like a baby. It's all natural. Plus you can get a $3 coupon online if you Google the website. Hope you feel better soon.

It could be from a variety of things, but you might want to have your thyroid hormone levels checked. Check out this website before you do, because many doctors aren't up on it they way they should be: http://thyroid.about.com/

Stimulus checks [2008-06-03]

Re: Those economy-stimulation checks - sm [2008-05-29]
I still haven Worse, I just got one of those Return Information Noticesin the mail. Well, guess what? The state of Calif. dida little number-rearranging, (or should I maybe call it fuzzy math?), and my state income tax refund has been changed from over $300 down to ZERO. When you call the number on the website, and finally get a live person to help, they very helpfully refer you to someone who can go over it with you, and then the system tells you it And get THIS: The actually had a LOWER taxable income than I had calculated. So how do they figure I am suddenly owed NO refund? It sure sounds like thathow the gov Like I Looks like once again, this Calif.taxpayer has been Californicated.

Virgin Mobile, too...sm [2008-05-26]
This is what I use (rarely). Just buying 20 minutes every 3 months, or 10 minutes every month(?), keeps the account current. You do not lose the oldminutes. There are some other plans, too, so if interested, you might want to check out Virgin Mobile HTH.

Money for Your Diamonds from DeBeers [2008-05-16]
I am sitting here getting ready to fill out my claim form. I tried to fill it out online but I think something may be wrong with their website because it kept telling me my browser would not accept cookies and it does. Anyway go to www.diamondsclassaction.com to file a claim if you purchased diamonds betweeen 1/94 and 3/06. You could get a refund. Just thought I would pass the word. You only have until 5/19 to file though.

the today show... [2008-05-16]
did a story earlier in the week. I believe it was on Wednesday morning. I only caught a small portion of it. It was on during the last hour of their show, the part with Kathie Lee. I tried to look online for the info as they said it would be available on their website and I could not find it but who knows, maybe you'll have better luck. They were discussing transcription, mystery shoppers, and other things - legit companies they said specifically.

just a suggestion [2008-05-13]
You could try to look online for a Legal Aid website for your state for specifics and (if necessary) an attorney that may help him (or advise him of his rights) for little or no cost.

How I make my own laundry soap. . sm [2008-05-13]
The basic ingredients are Borax, Washing Soda, and Fels Naptha. You could also use Ivory soap instead of the Fels Naptha. I also use the Fels Naptha to get out stains by wetting the fabric and rubbing the Fels Naptha directly on the stain. I really like the laundry soap, but it did take a little while to get used to it. It doesn't make hardly any suds and I was worried about whether or not it was doing a good job of cleaning. My DH is very picky, especially about laundry soap. I didn't even tell him I was making my own soap, and he didn't notice! I do put a little bleach (about 2 tablespoons) in with my towels because they never smelled fresh. I had to do this even when I used Tide or Era. We have well water, and our water has an odor sometimes. When I first started using this laundry soap, I would only use it for clothes that weren't heavily soiled. I gradually started using it for everything when I realized that it was doing a pretty good job. It is fun to make and so cheap. I hope it is okay to post links on this website. This is where I got my recipe- http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/laundrysoap.htm

How many times does this have [2008-05-08]
First, you have to find out if you qualify. Then, look online on the IRS website to find the schedule according to your SS#. Of course, if you didn't use direct deposit for your taxes to begin with, they will send you out a check and those won't be sent out until later. It is not a crock - we got ours on time, according to the schedule!

glad you got yours on time but [2008-05-08]
that has not been the case for everyone. Friends with last digits of 10 that used direct deposit have not recieved theirs and another only got 600 and not the 300 for her child. It can be very frustrating for those who are not getting the stimulus according to the information posted on their website.

Yep - you're correct...sm [2008-04-29]
on the irs.gov website, it states if you owe taxes, child support that it will hold the balance from the rebate. For instance, we owe 1,500.00 and paid 100.00 with the first installment so with the stimulus, wewonderful news

I did WW, a little differently though (sm) [2008-04-21]
I joined WW and got materials and first weigh-in but did not have time or money to go to weekly meetings. There is a website called 3FatChicks that is very good!! I lost about 40 pounds using them as my support group. I haven't been on there in about a year but I looked at it again the other day and they are still going strong. It is free and you can join groups of people doing any diet you choose and there is a big WW group on there. I have to get on track again too - I have gained so much lately! Good luck!
