Thanks. I figure the one good thing is that their lab is inhouse so won't have to wait [2008-05-14]
for another company bogged down with labs from 10 other facilities.

Amen! We are just at a six-figure income.. [2008-05-13]
but you would never know it by our lifestyle. We don't need to impress anyone or put ourselves in debt for material things that depreciate the minute you walk out of store with it or drive it off the lot. Americans need to SAVE money, a concept that has been long lost through the generations.

I believe that dreams have meaning... [2008-05-09]
I have had several dreams like that..I had a dream my best friend was pregnant again before she found out she was, and I had a dream later in the pregnancy that it was a boy and it was...always have strange dreams like that...I don't dream like this every night though...

Yes, I believe dreams have some type of meaning sm [2008-05-09]
especially when you remember them. You know the snake is a sign of the evil one! Is there someone in your life who is acting evil? That one would scare me and I would probably pray a lot more, even though I am not the religious type.

Anyone believe dreams have meaning? [2008-05-08]
I normally brush off bad dreams but this one was strange. My 8 year old daughter dreamed that I had a big snake behind me, she told me to run but I didn The snake came up and started choking me and as I was choking I told her that I could taste apple. Have you ever thought that your child had a dream with a message for you? I have an idea of what it might be about but I am wondering if I am making too much of it.

Sorry, I thought MTs were smart enough to figure it [2008-04-03]

you have - one is probably the red-bellied because it has red head but because there was already a red-headed they named it because of a little blush of pink on its belly - it isbig - looks more like a flicker. Do you have a pileated -with a red crest on top? I have red-belly, downy, and yellow-belly which I have to chase away because it makes holesin my Crimson King Maple.

Trying to figure out oatmeal calories [2008-01-21]
I used a cup of oatmeals, added 1 and 3/4 cups of water, a little skim milk and a teaspoon of sugar- I know other calories but have yet to figure out the calorie count on the oatmeal.

Yeah, and it took her 12 weeks to figure it out... boy - sm [2007-12-19]
If I was 16 and late more than a week I would have done a home pregnancy test then, not wait until I had missed at least 2 periods; then think about it for a week before telling anyone. I think she wanted to get pregnant and wanted to be far enough along before telling anyone so they wouldndiscovered she was pregnant, get this she was/is a nurse, and yes he married her, guess she figured he wasn't getting her to the alter fast enough. Need to ask my brother if they are still married (this was back in the late 80s)

Well I figure I can make my own hours & be home when the kids are home (sm) [2007-12-14]
I worked PT in an office for a while but spent most of my money on childcare in the summer. Full-time in an office was just a nightmare and I felt like I missed a whole year of my children's lives. I want to be in control of my schedule so that's why I'm looking into the cleaning thing. Never thought I would want to do that but live and learn! Some of the most intelligent people alive work as carpenters and similar things because they have learned what's really important in life. Whew....off my soapbox now :-) Good luck to you!

I'm sick of trying to figure out what to make. Any ideas? [2007-11-05]
With hubby on Coumadin and having gout besides, hefish. He should have more poultry, but he hates chicken. I must have tried 20,000 chicken recipes and he just doesn't like them. Our main diet is now ground sirloin in meals that use 1 pound or less, potatoes, rice, yellow wax beans, and pasta, fish of all kinds and cuts, beef or pork roast on Sunday, ham slice once in a while or half a ham slice if it is thick, steak once in a while no more than 4 ounces, soups or stews, and casseroles(donI love Mexican and Chinese. He says they donsigh Anybody with any ideas? I have a wall of cookbooks and some online recipes I printed, but nothing turns him on lately. Everything is either too spicy, too bland, flavorless, etc. etc. Don't know where to turn.

Can anyone tell me that is on social security how they figure how much to deduct if you go over what [2007-10-25]

Figure skating outfits [2007-09-24]
My oldest daughter has just begun to take figure skating lessons. Anyone have those outfits for warmups that they no longer need? The ones available on ebay mostly ship from China. Thanks!!! Any information on where else to find them would really be helpful!

How do you figure leasing is less expensive? [2007-09-03]
I've tried doing the math on that several times when we were going in to buy a car, but I never see it as being a saving. If I plan to keep a car for as long as it's useful and relatively trouble-free, leasing makes no sense. If I pay off a car in 3 years, or even 5 years, I could drive it for another 10 years and not have any car payments. But if I continuously lease new cars, I'll always have a car payment. The years w/o payments are money straight in the bank for me. I could see it being cheaper if you plan to buy a new car every couple of years, but I plan to drive my cars until they sputter, cough and die. Incidentally, I just looked at a camry hybrid today. time to replace a puffing 12 year old car with 189,000 miles on it. I like it. Not sure the gas savings will outweigh that sticker price, tho. wow!

I'm still trying to figure out what [2007-08-20]
Hoffen Koos was supposed to be. It really is awful how dumbed down our nation is getting. I don't know if it is just me but in the past when I have gone on internet dating sites and they send me profiles that are full of misspelled words and poor grammar it turns me right off and I am not even interested in finding out more about them. I hope that doesn't make me a snob!

I am 54 and figure with all the down-sliding I am going to have to work until I am 154. I am too old to keep digging myself out; something has to give.

It works! [2008-11-20]
When mine were smaller they had more fun unwrapping and playing with the boxes. They are all between 12 and 17 now. I told them to count their blessings if they get Christmas dinner this year let alone presents. This year kinda stinks, but I am sure they will get a few things they each want. I always figure it out.

Ok...I have a question [2008-11-19]
Is there some secret to wearing a pushup bra? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wear it so it looks right. I always get the muffin look and I hate that. I am large breasted, 36D, so is there just to much for a bra to push up? I have a party coming up on Saturday night and really wanted to wear this bra with my blouse..you know kinda looking sexy but not skanky. I'd appreciate it if anyone is willing to share the big secret!

Here is how to measure yourself sm [2008-11-19]
Measure under your bust, around your rib cage where your bra band goes. Take that number and add 5 inches. That is your band size (i.e. 35 inches +5 you are a 40). Then, measure around the fullest part of your bust. This will determine your cup size. Using the BAND SIZE (adjusted measurement above)... 1 inch bigger = A cup 2 inches bigger = B cup 3 inches bigger = C cup 4 inches bigger = D cup 5 inches bigger = DD cup etc. By this method, I am supposed to be a 36C, but I know that Hanes Her Way and some Bali's I need a 36D. You still have to try stuff on, obviously (it should be obvious but I have bought thinking I knew and could not return them!) because styles and brands vary a bit. I will say this about Wonder Bras and others with removable padding in them...they just are not as nice and smooth as one that is molded foam for pushing up. I think it is either Vasserette or Bali that makes several styles with foam cups with the pad molded in. And...your bra should fit on the very last hook always and be parallel to the floor, not riding up in back or front. You should not look like your breastages are pushed squished up towards middle. That is not like pushing up, that is from cups that are too close together to start with, the wrong size bra! I used to wear a 38, but I didneven and only one cup would be full at a time. Umm they were too close together? I got a 38 and discovered I had more chest than I had thought. Now, I have dropped 55 lbs and I am back to a 36. So, if you shift weight, remeasure.

Any Black Friday shoppers out there? [2008-11-19]
Tell me your plans for Black Friday. I subscribe to a website that posts the Black Friday ads earlier than they are actually sent out. It helps me map out my day. I get up at 3:00 a.m. and wear my Black Friday shirt -- I have a couple and just ordered 2 more. One reads: If you Another reads: It I ordered 2 new ones. One reads: It and the other one: I train year-round for Black Friday; you don After shopping all day, my BFF and I head to the Roadhouse for dinner and drinks and then we hit the hot tub. Andy & Jenna [2008-11-15]
no, they are not the same breed. I got Andy (laughing boy) at a shelter when he was about 8 months old. No idea what breed he is. Have had people guess retriever, greyhound, ridgeback. He has some spots on his tongue so I figure some Chow but I'm not really seeing it. He is a wildman, a real play-maniac & my arm was falling off from throwing the Kong, so I figured he needed a playmate. I got Jenna (serious girl on the left) at a different shelter. They told me she was part collie & part lab. That pic was taken right after she came home with us. She has gotten much more playful & interactive & has her own sweet smile. When I first got her she wanted to hide all the time & was afraid of everything. She & Andy get along great. They still have some shelter baggage but they get both happier & happier every day, even Andy, who looks in the picture like it's not possible to get any happier. But it is. :D

I am so fustrated I am in tears...sm [2008-11-15]
Ok here goes...My husband has hunting beagles. He has about 5 of them. I love dogs and I love beagles. Well he drives an 18-wheeler and is gone a majority of the time. I take care of the dogs daily, i.e. feed them, clean their kennels, and put fresh water. It is a chore, but I love the dogs so I do it. It is for my husband anyway, and we are supposed to help each other. When he is home it is his chore. Well he has a buddy down the road who lives about 10 minutes away. They take their beagles out together and let them run rabbits. Well his buddy is bad about leaving his beagles over here and not coming to get them in a timely manner, and I have to take care of 5 more dogs. Food isn Well you have to make him come get them. A couple of weeks ago his buddy went on a hunting trip in Tennessee and needed someone to care for his beagles. Well I didn I was fustrated to learn though he brought them and left them in the kennels and left no food for them. I had to feed these dogs of his out of our food and there was 5 of them. I mentioned to my husband that I thought that was rude. I was nice enough to care for his beagles while he went away. He should have brought food for them. I felt taken advantage of. Well he came over last weekend and I thought good he has come for his dogs. Well he leaves without them. I said oh here we go again. I had forgotten to mention anything to my husband because I got busy working among other things. Well today when I went to feed the beagles I got really fustrated because he STILL has not come and got his dogs. So got downrightticked and called my husband. I said you call your buddy and tell him I am not in the kennel business. He can come get his dogs. I said first of all he is back in town and has been a week. Why hasn I said you should have made him before now. I said I was not asked do you mind taking care of these dogs for weeks. I said you should not allow your friend to take advantage of my niceness. He said well I just figure that if you are taking care of our beagles then why can What difference does it make? You are already taking care of these so what is so hard about putting a little more food out. I said I will tell you. It is twice the dogs to feed. I said he did not bring any food. It is twice thesh** to clean out the kennels, which is done, by the way, by spraying it off the concrete floors with a hose with a spray nozel. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and I think my DH should stick up for me to his friend.

Alternative Christmas celebration and [2008-11-14]
Does anyone here NOT celebrate the traditional Christmas with their kids...specifically I am referring to the Santa portion. I am thinking about doing this with our second child (currently pregnant). Our first child is now old enough to know the truths and it is kind of a relief to be honest. I have tried and tried to stress the importance of family and the true meaning over Santa but its really hard. Recently I have just been thinking that may be next time it would be easier all the way around to not follow that but wonder how it would work with school, people asking, etc.

I think it's a shame s/m [2008-11-14]
to deprive children of the traditional Santa Claus. Heck, I still believe in Santa Claus myself. It is a spirit that lives within the hearts of old and young. Kids eventually figure out for themselves that Santa is a fantasy. We took our kids to our church We opened gifts when we came home. There was no lying involved and their personalities were not warped either.

It is entirely your decision to do what ...sm [2008-11-14]
you want. I personally thought it was so fun doing the whole Santa thing with my son. I guess different for everybody. It is true that the true meaning of Christmas has nothing to do with Santa, but it just makes it fun with the little ones. :)

Slightly different perspective. [2008-11-13]
So maybe I shouldn't post about this since I have not exactly been in your shoes but I think possibly I can lend a help perspective. I lost my father to cancer when I was 19. My FIL is an alcoholic. No I didn't grow up in a divorced family or without a father through my childhood and no I haven't experienced my father being an alcoholic. What I feel I can tell you is there is such a thing as being too late to say the things you wanted to say, good or bad. If it does come to that, you will never let it go. He is still your father regardless of the choices he has made in his life. You only have 1 father. After seeing my FIL, I believe alcoholism is an illness. Sure people can fight it and get help if they wan, but it takes a very, very strong person to overcome it and it is a constant battle. From the sounds of your post it seems as though you have some things you need to get off of your chest. Whether that means sitting down and talking to him or putting the past in the past and moving on with any kind of relationship - I think only you can figure that out. Even a relationship that is only on holidays and important events is still a relationship. Who knows, maybe talking to your mom would help her as much as it might help you. It certainly can't be a short conversation, it needs to be thorough to get through the surface feelings and to the nitty gritty. Maybe, just maybe, your mom could shed some light for you on why she has been able to forget the past to a certain extent and move on. If nothing else, this might make you and your mom even closer and it sounds like no one else (professional or otherwise) would understand better than her. With my FIL, we do not stay when he is drunk or starts drinking. The entire family knows we pack up and leave, regardless of the situation. It hurts his feelings sometimes I can tell, but he knows the circumstances and we have small children that we will not subject to that. It was difficult at first but over the years it is just the way it is and no one says a word anymore and respects where we are coming from.

I think thanksgiving would be the [2008-11-12]
perfect time to make it clear you are NOT joining in the free for all giftgiving. Maybe you could make their favorite desserts or breads instead or think of some other inexpensive hand made gifts. My sister makes jelly or tamales for the sibs and my brother buys a bottle of wine each (mine is piling up and getting well aged). This is exactly why I tell my 3 boys to buy for their wives and kids. I myself don't (can't) spend much on the kids, but I figure their parents need to have that fun, I've had my turn with my own. And I don't want anything at all, in fact, I wish when someone came over, they would have to take something when they leave! But, like I told one of mine, you are making memories, it will depend on your attitude and not what you spent that the kid remembers later. One might forget that expensive day at an amusement park, but remember years later a plain simple picnic because of the feeling of family fun and closeness. Good luck with your pregnancy, I am sure you are unusually tired already.

You are so good to think ahead! [2008-11-12]
We bought a PS2 last year...what were we thinking...now of course our son wants a PS3 for xmas this year. Go figure. I hope to start a xmas fund for next year but I always say that and never get my rear in gear to do it. Xmas just gets more expensive as they get older. I have only bought a few small things so far but trying to look at catalogs and get some ideas and things done now. It is right around the corner! Good for you to be able to get a big gift out of the way so early. I bet that feels great! Who knows, maybe this will be a great xmas memory for you and your son. :)

agree with you. This stuff has not been [2008-11-11]
available long enough to make a determination. I am reminded of Avandia which almost put my mother in the hospital because she was one of the few to have increase in fluids from it. The docs kept telling her that it was impossible that Avandia was the problem. I spoke to one OB-Gyn and one infectious disease doctor, both of whom did not recommend this vaccine, one saying why was it only for girls. This was about 2 years ago when our gov was considering making it mandatory in Tx, too. One doc said it was a lot of hype as it only protected against 4 of the more than 200 strains known. One research physician on a radio show claims it actually is a cancer trigger for later in life, so who knows? Afraid abstinence is the only sure prevention. BTW, sex ed in school does not seem to have prepared students for orally transmitted STD's - go figure.

Question for abc [2008-11-11]
You are presuming what she understands, or doesn I took it to mean she was being sarcastic and mock-humble in stating only 99.6. Her tone was a bit smart-alecky, but I found it amusing, especially since people have also called me too smart for my own good before. Usually it means watch it, smarty-pants when people say that, and is used by an older authority figure on a bright youngster that is being a brat. I So what if she doesn Personally, I think its fun to yank their chains on forums.

Agree completely [2008-11-10]
I I I was on a dating forum a couple years back and everyone started coming on saying they were geniuses because they took an online test and it said so. I am also well acquainted with the Bell Curve, and also I knew from most of those poster It smelled fishy so I took it, and it padded my IQ by 10-20 points! If you really want to know your IQ (or your child Most online tests are crap, designed to suck you into a marketing ploy, as well as make you look like a fool bragging that you're a genius, along with anybody else that takes it.

Pet Insurance [2008-11-09]
I have some pet insurance. It is $17 a month for each dog. I figure, for $200 a year, if the dog lives to be 15 that would be a total of $3000 over the life of the dog. Which can be less than the cost of a single operation. So I got the insurance. Andy had a minor surgery (removal of keratocanthoma) that came to $600, including $200 to have his teeth cleaned (not covered). After the deductible I got a check from the company for $300. I was pretty happy with that.

LOL [2008-11-07]
That's a good point he has. A whole new meaning to comb-over. LOL I figure there are a lot worse that kids could do than grow their hair out long or dye it crazy colors. If mine keeps good grades, acts kindly and helpful towards others, stays presentable, and keeps out of bad things - I'll pay for the dyed hair if he wants it. Actually I offered to do mine too and for some reason he changed his mind. LOL

Heck yeah! [2008-11-07]
My daughter is a few months younger than Celine's son. She has her hair buzzed by her request. (I use the 3/4 inch buzzer guide.) She is tops of her class, very respectful, and loves to help out her teacher in class. She is well behaved, but she does pick on her little sisters sometimes like any kid. She's a really good kid. When we go to the nursing home to visit my husband (he's a nurse), the residents typically assume she's a boy because of her hair, which annoys her. Otherwise she is as girly as can be, much girlier than her mom with long hair! I figure it's just hair--who cares as long as the child can handle the hair issues? Eventually there will be much bigger battles to be fought than the length of hair. Go Celine!

Thanks for the 90210 information [2008-11-05]
I wonder if it's somewhere online. I'll have to check. He's my screensaver (lots of pics). I even got myself a tour T-shirt. Even at my age. I figure you only live once. I don't drink or smoke so I have to have some obsessions. LOL

I had a PA struggling to diagnose me in the office one day and she was telling me probably lupus, blah, blah, blah, all of this crap and she had the doc come in and he said do you know who she is??? (yea, she did). He said to her, this woman is a member of the medical profession and she is going to go right back to her office and look up everything you just told her and panic. She knows what you are talking about, you don't just throw out diagnoses. That's probably not exactly how he said it but I get the meaning of, don't cross this MT off the list, honey, she knows everything you are saying!!

Why do they say...sm [2008-11-03]
Why do they say that it is taboo to talk about politics with people? Why can't we just DISCUSS our opinions and not get mad at the other person for having their OWN opinion. I have never been able to figure out why people can get mad at someone else for having their own opinion. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just sit down and have an intelligent conversation with other human beings without worrying about offending them? If everybody thought the same it would be a very very different and boring world AND if we could DISCUSS and not ARGUE I believe a lot more issues would get resolved. **sigh**

I paid [2008-10-31]
the month thing so I can go on-line and that is helping me to keep with it and not get discouraged too. I figure it is a healthy way to eat and I paid so I may as well give it a month. I had foot surgery and have just been able to start walking with little to no pain now so that may help too. Thanks again!
