How much as your 401K gone down. I have lost 40% not including today.
Ok...I have a question [2008-11-19]
Is there some secret to wearing a pushup bra? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wear it so it looks right. I always get the muffin look and I hate that. I am large breasted, 36D, so is there just to much for a bra to push up? I have a party coming up on Saturday night and really wanted to wear this bra with my blouse..you know kinda looking sexy but not skanky. I'd appreciate it if anyone is willing to share the big secret!
That question is for the OP - no message. [2008-11-14]

Question about NOT washing your hair everyday... [2008-11-12]
I've heard this many times...That you're better off not to wash your hair everyday--Dr. Oz was on Oprah yesterday and said the same thing. He meantioned something about you are stripping your hair of good oil etc et.
I know some people can to a day or two without washing their hair--I HAVE to shower and wash my hair in the MORNING everyday---
But in regards to shampooing everyday--Would you be doing your hair good by not using shampoo everyday? For example I used shampoo and conditioner yesterday and this morning when I took a shower I got my hair wet but didnt use shampoo--just some conditioner.
What do you think?
Question for abc [2008-11-11]
You are presuming what she understands, or doesn I took it to mean she was being sarcastic and mock-humble in stating only 99.6. Her tone was a bit smart-alecky, but I found it amusing, especially since people have also called me too smart for my own good before. Usually it means watch it, smarty-pants when people say that, and is used by an older authority figure on a bright youngster that is being a brat.
I So what if she doesn Personally, I think its fun to yank their chains on forums.

Here's an addition to your question about layout - sm [2008-11-03]
that was unbelievable. I was at a Walmart one day to buy jeans. In the unlikely event I find the 'perfect' pair, I usually buy 2 of the same size, 'cause who knows when you'll ever find a perfect pair again, right?
So I'm in the dressing room trying them on, find the perfect pair, and go out to grab another identical pair before heading to the register. Only......
While I was in the dressing room (maybe 10 minutes, tops?), they had completely reconfigured the entire jeans section, and the whole display that had the jeans I wanted was GONE! I spent another half-hour looking for them, and never did find them, even when I asked an employee, who was of course clueless.
So, I guess Walmart is kind of like the weather in the mountains. If you don't like what you see, wait 10 minutes and it'll change!

Wii skate board game question sm [2008-10-27]
If one buys the WII skateboard game will it work without a balance board? I foolishly asked my grandson to look through some games for Christmas and he chose a WII skate board game, now I am worried that you have to use a balance board which costs $100+, I am confused as I googled it but can't understand if it is necessary. Hate to disappoint but I may have to. Replies appreciated, TIA.

Gift certificates for massages for Christmas question. (sm) [2008-10-22]
There is a littlespa near us that has gift certificates for massages, aroma therapy, etc and had thought about getting my daughters each one as a Christmas gift. Thought they could go together as they are good friends as well as sisters. I am a bit of a country bumpkin myself and know nothing about these things. Anyone tell me a little about what they might expect? One daughter is prettyeasy going, the other is a little more conservative. I understand sheets coveringthe body, justwanted to make sure the massage isconfined to extremities and back, nothing too personal.TIA
Good place to shop is Salvation Army Superstore. sm [2008-10-21]
Don't dump on me please. The store gets extra clothes from big department stores. It's better if you're a small size, but they have stuff for larger sizes too.
I got INC Incorporated embroidered tunic and Eileen Fisher sweater for $10 each, plus 2 pairs of work pants at $4 each.
Question for ya.............sm [2008-10-17]
If Christians demanded to have the right to organized prayer in school, the right to assemble anywhere and anytime they chose for the purpose of sharing their religion with others, demanded that one nation under God be kept in the Pledge, collect money for their missionary endeavors on the street corner, would that be shoving their religion down others' throats?
After all, that is our lifestyle, that is what we do.
The question was not are you for/against gay marriages [2008-10-16]
The question was is it educational or not. The answer is NO. School is for the basics of learning, remember reading/writing/arithmetic? THAT is what I pay my tax dollars for, NOT for a teacher to pull a publicity stunt on school time.
Have you tried your local Salvation Army, United Way, or places like that? sm [2008-10-15]
The town where I live has a place called Mell Trotter Ministries. You can donate your vehicles and then the people to live and work at Mel Trotter fix up the cars and are learining a trade at the same time. They then sell the cars to the public. The money they make on the cars goes back into the organization.
Also our United Way has something called 2-1-1. You just call 211 and tell the person you talk to what you are looking for or need and they can steer you in the right direction.
Good luck to the family you are trying to help.
question about the orange tabby [2008-10-15]
Is it a male or a female? If you add up all the orange tabbies I have had in my life, living on the farm when I was a kid and also as an adult, there must have been at least 20 or 25, and all but 1 were male. I had actually come to believe that orange tabbies must always be male, kinda like calicos are always female. But that rare female orange tabby was the sweetest cat I have ever known. She was an absolute darling. I named her Precious.
I was just curious.

Medical Ethics Question. [2008-10-01]
You are a doctor. You have an 80-year-old patient with stage 4 cancer, who has just finished radiation treatments. The patient is on Medicare. You (the doctor) know of a new drug that might slow the cancer, but it has not been approved by Medicare yet, and the cost is $1000 per week.
Do you recommend this drug to this patient's family?

Question [2008-10-01]
Over the last few years I have had a bit of hair loss on and off and some other symptoms. One of the other main symptoms has been petichiae on my lower legs.
Have any of you had that? I thought it was due to circulation issues (no surface varicose but have spider veins and have read one can have deeper varicose that don't show). However, I think I have been eating better and getting more iron the last several months and have noticed the petichiae have subsided. Even the brown staining has pretty much gone away. My hair is better too.
Just curious if any of you had petichiae as well.
Question for single MTs [2008-09-26]
I am divorced now for awhile. I am finding that I have absolutely no interest in dating! I look at the online dating sights occasionally but no one attracts me. There seem to be slim pickens if you know what I mean. Anyway, I seem to be very happy on my own. My question is, do any of you feel the same? I guess I'm just at a point in my life where I'd rather stay single.
Air Force question... [2008-09-24]
OK, my son has decided to join the AF...he's been through MEPS, all that, and is due to sign his contract today...however, last night we find out that the job he wants (security forces) gets deployed...not to war zones...all the time. They are on deployment an average of 180 days a year, so we have been told.
I'm asking y'all if anyone here has had any firsthand experience with this and if so, is this what my son can expect? I've googled it, of course, but come up with conflicting information. I need firsthand info, if it's out there...I'd appreciate so much anyone sharing anything they know about this!!!

Blondie, have read your posts before sm.. [2008-11-15]
You sound like a very good person, very caring. I was in the same situation once with a neighbor's dog. He would go to Canada hunting and just leave his dog tied to a dog house in mid-winter in New England and I would take her into my home, feed her, keep her warm and all. This neighbor today I can say with full confidence was borderline-retarded without a doubt. I am so glad I did this. I even at one time went to the dog pound and claimed this dog who had gotten loose and said it was my own. I could not let this poor dog suffer because of its owner. All I can say is do what is in your heart, it may cost you a few dollars more but think of it is abandoned children and you are there for them. Take a good look at this guy and truly ask yourself is he is capable of the love and caring you have in your heart. I know times are tough, but perhaps you are the one who is meant to save these poor animals. Sounds like this guy is either not the sharpest tool in the shed or something else wrong with him. Does he have enough money for beer or etc., and not his dogs? Then he doesn't deserve them! Think hard about the dogs and what would happen to them if it were not for you. You are a very nice person. I hope you find an answer. As for your husband, only you can answer that question. I think he should at least stick up for you and address his dumb friend as to what his responsibility is in the situation. Good luck, Blondie, you are a sweetheart to put up with all this, and I am sure the dogs are in a better place with you. Do you have an SPCA or someone who could help with the food? Perhaps online you can find a way to make your own food suitable for dogs at a reasonable price. May God be with you. Perhaps you are meant to care for dogs in some way that would be beneficial to you in other ways. God bless you for caring.

depression? [2008-11-13]
Okay so they say, finally, that we are in a recession. I am thinking that we may be going into another Great Depression. Call me doom and gloom but come on now, look at life. So, my question is to those of you who stock up on stuff. What do you stock up on and how do u do it? I mean, do you go out one day when you grocery shop and just spend a fortune on extra stuff or do you spread it out. Also, those of you that mentioned being stocked up, obvious it limits grocery trips and probably saves some money here and there but if we face a depression, do you think that there will be a huge shortage of food in our grocery stores?
I differ in my opinions - sm [2008-11-11]
Everyone has limitations and personal problems, including those with high IQ. When we examine those on the other end of the scale, the mentally challenged, many of them seem very happy, and easily contented with the simple things in life. Its because they are able to concentrate on that one thing and enjoy it. Often the rest of us are too distracted by what The smarter one is, the more easily they can identify what is wrong with a situation, so perhaps the more problems they see the more they tend to be distracted by worries, etc. and cannot enjoy the simple things in life.
Alcoholism? The tendency to that type of escapism is inheritable. Wise people that know it runs in their family will never indulge at all. But smart doesn In fact, smart often leads to arrogance, which leads to risk taking. You can also wonder how smart people can smoke, gamble, vote the way they do, whatever. These behaviors may be unwise, but they don Guess what my ex said to me - I have so many more brain cells than most people, I can afford to kill half of them off and STILL be smarter than you. Gee, I wonder why I divorced him...
I knew a brilliant guy (not my ex) that I posed your question regarding self-destruction. He claimed it was his brain, and his right to waste it, or not,as he saw fit. I suppose it will be between him and his maker to discuss whether or not it is a sin to do so. I don Nobody blames my ex They lose the respect of people that had high hopes for them, yes, the definitely do. Their future looks really dismal. But they can still run rings around us in calculus, even three-sheets-to-the-wind. Aggravating as heck, but oh well,
I am one that believes that if a person wants to trash their life, its between them and God. But as I told my ex, when judgement day comes, he'll have some explaining to do, and I wouldn't want to be his his shoes.
Would you be hurt? [2008-11-10]
Say you were out of town with four other friends. Each of the other ladies is TIED to their cell phone for calls and text messages. It is WELL known that you are NOT one who is tied to your cell phone and the group even jokes about the fact that if they were on the side of the road broken down the one person NOT to text would be you because you wouldn't get it for a week and they would end up dying.
Back to the question...so youIt You have received no phone call in your room and no one has come to your room to knock to see if you want to join them.
Are you angry? What do you do? What should you have done? Is this just a matter of both sides not communicating?
Curious to see what you say here...
That's why I posted [2008-11-10]
There are girls who are getting sick from this. All I would like is for everyone to research this thoroughly before doing it, and please don't only read the docs articles. Of course they are going to say everyone should have it. Guess who pays them bonuses.
As for the lady who said in GA its required. I'd move out of that state before I let the government tell me what I should or should not have done medically.
Please just don't buy into the hype of it and question, question, question before thinking about it.
ask yourself this [2008-11-09]
Ask yourself this one question, how can the #1 abused dog in the U.S. also be the #1 most vicious dog in the U.S.??? doesn't make sense does it? How do these so-called vicious dogs keep getting fought and abused over and over again repeatedly and yet STILL find it in their heart to love humans after going through all that????
abused pit bulls [2008-11-09]
Again I refer to the web site I have posted which gives statistics regarding pit bull ownership by criminals. I don Of course I am not suggesting that you orblondiearecriminals, but I would hope that you could at least admitthat a large percentage of pit bulls are owned by those involved in drugs and other crimes, with the purpose of attacking and/or intimidatingothers in their criminal circle.
There are countless other breeds capable of providing the same companionship and loyalty and unconditional love as a pit bull, but without the strength and aggression to kill human beings.
Did you read on the web site about the 24-year-old woman who was killed in her own bed by her 2 pit bulls she had raised since puppyhood? Nobody knows what happened, but these were her two babies, and yet then turned on her and killed her. It is believed that she could have had a seizure, as she was epileptic. Why would a dog perceive their master lying in bedhaving a seizure(if indeed that is what happened) as a threat, and why would they kill her? What set them off? Ask yourself THAT question.
Ifpit bullswere the only loyal dog or the only loving dog available to own, I could maybe understand the risk all you owners are taking. But that is just not the case. There are so many other breeds with which you can form that same bond, without the terrible risks.
nursing home - hardest decision ever sm [2008-11-09]
I had also made those promises to my folks, Dad was kept home on hospice 14 months, he had suffered brain damage from not being found for hours and was awful to all of us but we managed with a hospital bed, hospice and nurses, however, my whole family fell apart, fighting, etc., until he fell so many times and was so sick, we called 911 one night for help and hospice literally threw us out of the program. You are supposed to call them (in my state anyway) and they will sit with you while you watch them take their last breaths. Could not go through with that. Then we had no choice but nursing home, they took every cent they could get their hands on without touching my momshow up to check on them. Sometimes theyassisted living scenario, and after they clean out the bank book, they put them in a nursing home anyway, so thatsandwich generation between what to do with the parent and if you have kids, what is best for them. Itshow up and if you don it's tough to walk that walk. Take care, hopefully you will make the right decision. In some states you can have her in a nursing home and if she qualifies, you can also have hospice go in there for special care such as you desire for her comfort. Good luck, know we are all thinking of you.
Could be, but then why [2008-11-03]
Why does the question annoy us so much, when we easily know the answer!
My husband had a kidney stone [2008-11-03]
and as the doctor was explaining to me what they found and where it was and what they would do I made a comment that I understand completely and then asked a question. I donoh, do you have medical experience? and I told him that I was an MT who transcribes acute care. The doctor then laughed and said that by the looks of his reports that come back that he didn't think MTs had any medical experience and were just typing.
Yes, irritated me as well. I dont' know why people think we don't understand what we transcribe. Understanding is a huge part of the job.
actually, you might remind him [2008-11-02]
that once upon a time you picked out HIM! Did he question your judgement then?
Ideas . . . thoughts on this? [2008-10-31]
Good afternoon,
I am hopeful someone here can answer my question. Does anyone here type for a pediatrician? I was wondering . . . if a child bent all four fingers in a backwards position, would this action cause a lump to form on the back of the hand? Why do I ask? Well my daughter (in first grade) came home from school with a lump on the back of her tiny hand. At first she did not tell me what happened, but it has since come out that the bully in the class bent her fingers backwards. I I had planned to take her to our doctor to have it checked out, but today the lump is gone. I wrote a note to the school teacher asking that this child (the bully) be kept away from my daughter—now there seems to be this big coverup. This little boy was always in trouble in kindergarten and he was known to throw chairs etc.. .. you name it. As a matter of fact the kindergarten teacher couldn My daughter told me that when this finger bending/spitting occurred that her music teacher sent the boy to the office for punishment . . . now the school claims he was never sent to the office, like this never occurred. And no, I wasn Also, I should mention other parents found out there were coverups over bad behavior when this boy was in kindergarten. What should I do? Would a lump result from this type of bending of the hand? I guess I have to wire my daughter to find out what is going on in the classroom. Any suggestions or answers?
I have 2. [2008-10-30]
It's funny that this question is asked. The other day I was running out to the store to grab eggs and wondered why I did that instead of just asking one of the neighbors. Growing up my mom borrowed from the neighbors all the time but I have never really thought of it. I usually just send the hubs out. I know 2 of them wouldn't mind though. We swap veggies and other garden items during the summer and I bake them cookies, cobblers, and things from time to time just because they are nice.
hubby name-calling [2008-10-29]
Too bad the child in question didnto you I wonder if his parents talked to him that way when he was a child...makes one wonder...
Hubby should apologize to that baby. Mom, just explain to your baby that people should and always let your baby know that hecome to you at ANYTIME...perhals this sounds simplistic but it's sad that adults (OR ALLEDGED adults) think its okay to tear down a child's self-confidence this way!!
OH...what to do...??? [2008-10-27]
My husband and I will be married for a year on December 15. Both of our families live in the same small town and I need to know what to do for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In years past we have tried to do double duty on both holidays. This year I also want to have our OWN Thanksgiving and Christmas as last year we were on our Honeymoon during Christmas and we're married yet for Thanksgiving. I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but I also don't want to have to go to 3 dinners and 3 present-openings and so on. So, my question is: What would you do in this situation? Should I just wear sweats and try to fit in 3 dinners? Do we split up Christmas and Thanksgiving between families? This would be much easier if they lived in different locations and we COULDN'T make it to both, but as it is we don't really have an excuse to not make it to one or the other. PLEASE HELP!!!!
STOP!!!! BETTER TAKE A CLOSER LOOK [2008-10-22]
This is what I found when researching this:
Just Wondering asked the question; Do the Heat Surge Fireless Flame heaters that the Amish sell really work?
It is being advertised in the local paper (The Herald-Dispatch,Huntingto n , WV ). That it is a Miracle Heater. Saves Money: uses less energy than a coffee maker. Stay really warm and slash your heating bill all at the same time. It uses 1500 watts. It is 5119 btu. My question is. Is this really a Miracle Heater? Should I buy one for every room in my house and turn off the heat pump?

The ads (which are all over the country) are very misleading.
1. A coffee maker uses a large amount of electricity for about a minute. Itmiracle heater uses less electricity than a coffee maker DURING THAT ONE MINUTE. But you're going to have the heater running for a lot longer than one minute a day. So it's going to cost you a lot more to operate than a coffee maker does.
The heater will cost you around 12 cents per hour to operate. The average cost of electricity in the U.S. is 8 cents per 1,000 watts per hour, so 1,500 watts costs 12 cents per hour on average. This is true for ANY 1,500 watt electric heater.
2. The ads say that the heater produces an amazing 5,119 BTU (a measure of heat energy), but ALL 1,500 watt electric heaters produce 5,119 BTU. If an electric heater was 100% efficient, it would convert 1,500 watts of electricity into 5,120 BTU of heat. All electric heaters are nearly 100% efficient, and this has been true for decades. The miracle heater is no more efficient than any other electric heater.
3. The website of the heaterzone heating. See the Saves Money section of the website (www.heatsurge.com).
This is true, but it's also true for ANY electric heater. The problem is that a lot of people don't like to have just one room of their house warm while all the others are cold.
You DON'T want to heat your entire house by putting an electric heater in each room. That would cost you far more than central heat. Gas central heat, for example, would cost around half as much as having an electric heater in each room. (The exact amount varies depending on what part of the country you live in.)
If you want to get one heater and move it around with you, that would be cheaper than central heat, but you can get a lightweight 1,500 watt / 5,119 BTU electric heater with a fan for under $100 at your local hardware store, while the miracle heater costs $350 including shipping. The heater at your local hardware store won't have the Amish-made mantle and the fake flames, but it will work just as well. Make sure to get one with a fan, since it will warm up the room faster, although fans can be noisy.

My best way to save -- my mom and I share [2008-10-21]
the club card for our local grocery store (we only have 1 in our little town). We accumulate the points together and usually qualify for the higher percentage off when it Then we pick a day we can go together and ring our order up together. Of course we use our coupons, too. We just went 2 weeks ago and qualified for 15% off our total bill. Before coupons/discounts, our total grocery bill was $550 but after our discounts, it was only $283. We saved almost $200 ---- unbelievable but true.
Before dining out, I check the website of the restaurant we They usually offer a free appetizer and that helps to fill us up so we can order smaller meals. We have 3 kids and my 2 younger kids share a kids I also like to order water -- that always cuts about $5 off the bill.
Remember -- if you donate clothes to Good Will/Salvation Army, it's a deductible dontation, so keep track.

all the zones in the US. I remember reading about the product a while ago, and it definitely is not suited to our climate here in NC. I'm pretty sure it's all about the magic of marketing.

Talking with a nonChristian about Jesus [2008-10-17]
I have been reading this and I just wanted to offer a few thoughts:
1) No, you cannot go up to someone and say YOU ARE A SINNER! REPENT and expect a positive reaction. I think that God will give you opportunities to talk to people. When those opportunities arise, you ask for their permission to speak with them about it. If they say no, you drop it. I believe that God will open the hearts of those who are ready to hear it. If they do give you permission, you donYOU are a sinner because I saw YOU lying to so and so, I heard that YOU were sleeping with so and so and you At the moment of witnessing to someone, you better believe Satan is standing right there waiting for you to slip up so he can turn it against you. I think a better thing would be to say Well God tells us in the Bible that WE are ALL sinners no matter what we do. That is why we need Jesus.
2) Back you're claims up with Bible verses. That way no one thinks you are saying this in you're own words. Some good Scripture for witnessing:
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:3 - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
These are just some to get you started. If the person you are talking to has opened their heart to hearing you, I doubt they won't want to hear the verses.
3) If you get a positive reaction, don't leave them to figure out the rest by themselves. Support them, invite them to church, introduced them to other loving Christians.
Look, our nation is at war, but we are in a much bigger war. Satan is wreaking havoc in our nation and for to long we have sat by and let him. But just because the situation is dire does not mean we can just stand on our soap boxes and start proclaiming out loud that everyone is a sinner and they must all repent now. It requires personal connections with people. All throughout the Bible you read about Jesus having a personal connection. He spoke to people one on one. He allowed them to discuss the issue with Him, to question Him. One of his disciples even doubted Him! I know many of us, myself included, probably questioned all the way up to the aisle before we gave our lives over to Him. It is our nature to do so.
As much as we all pray for a revival in this nation and in our churches, I doubt it will happen. Any of you who have studied and believe in the Bible know the time is drawing near. It is also said that every nation will turn against us before He comes. It's time to come together and be ready to support one another, because times are going to get tough. If you are sitting on the fence, you better choose a side, because Satan owns that fence.
Call me crazy, call me fanatical. But I KNOW that my Lord is the living Christ, and I know that he will come back, and I am much more concerned about what He thinks about me then what YOU think about me! :)
True Christians love everyone. We just hate sin. I hate that I sin everyday. But I thank God that I can ask for forgiveness and He gives it. All this mess about oh you Christians hate gay people, hate abortion supporters, hate blacks, etc is simply not true. I have friends who are gay. I love them just as much as I love my Christian brothers and sisters. I just don't love the sin. Abortion is a sin. And I'm not sure why you say we hate black people unless you're saying it's because we don't vote for Obama, but black is just another color and Jesus doesn't pay attention to color, therefore neither should we, and I believe most of us don't. The ones that do are sinning and will have to ask for forgiveness.
If anyone is seriously interested in discussing this or just wants to talk, please email me. If you just want to be hateful and bash, please, just save it.
Where do you think laws come from? [2008-10-16]
Most of man's laws are based on the Bible, the 10 Commandments usually.
I am not comparing gay people to criminals. Based on your statement that God expects us to be happy, regardless of what form that happiness might take, I am asking the question that, if it is okay with God for a person to be gay if it makes them happy, is it okay with him for a person to steal, commit adultery or murder if it makes them happy.
You changed the context of the subject, not me. And for what it is worth, there are still states in which sodomy is a crime, therefore gay sex is a crime. There is even a state where adultery and fornication are a crime. http://www.sodomy.org/laws/
In a city with a large gay/lesbian population, gay -sm [2008-10-16]
marriage is an everyday issue. The kids hear both sides of it. They're not isolated in coccoons, and they watch TV and see the negative ads running right now. If they go to Sunday school, then they probably get fed a large dose of fear and intolerance there, as well.
I think it IS educational for a bunch of SF kids to go see a wedding, especially if it's their own teacher. They already know she's gay. And they already know she's are real human being that they probably all love.
What they get out of the experience is a very strong reason to question the hatred & bigotry surrounding the issue of who should be allowed to marry, and who should not.
